Nah, I picked my name when I was about nine. It wasn’t really anything meaningful, I barely even thought about it, to be honest.

okay, gotta ask, what’s your opinion on how rvb fits into halo canon? any opinions on the way the aliens are portrayed in rvb vs the sangheili in halo? thoughts on any freelancers being ex spartans?

How does RvB fit into Halo canon? Honestly, it doesn't. You can use Halo lore to flesh out Red vs Blue if you want to, but it's kind of like playing checkers with chess pieces. It works, but you're using less than half of what you have.

That said, it's still pretty easy to shore it up by borrowing from Halo because Red vs Blue does work as One Stupid Little Background Detail if you're willing to play it fast and loose. We know that BGC lines up with the end of the war in 2552 and it's possible to extrapolate some stuff from the fan book timeline by knowing that.

It really is the aliens that are the most difficult to reconcile detail. And when I've done it in the past I've just... used the Covenant as they are in Halo and ignored the details on RvB aliens. (Sorry, Tucker fans.)

As for the Freelancers being ex-Spartans: I did have a Freelancer OC who was a S-II washout back in the day, but I don't see any of the canon freelancers as contenders for that. They're all too young and too genuinely awful at teamwork.

....Someday I really want to write Wash and Carolina working with Spartans and it being weird for everyone, but my pile of ideas is so big and my arms are so weak and noodly.
