it is so irritating to me that how these stupid dance shows do not have any respect for the classical dances like ?!?!? i bet u my whole fucking life that these stupid dance show's so called "judges" can't do any type of classical dance and yet they go on shitting stuff like "ur dance was nice but a fusion or a different form would be even better" from they mouth like yk what else would be better? u stop breathing. yeah.
like the amount of disrespect they show to these superior dance forms like Bharatnatyam and kathak and all by fusioning them with these so called international dances like no disrespect to international dance forms but they are in no way superior to our own classical dance forms. a classical dancer goes through so much during their dance trainings. a ballerina is respected because her foot suffers so much in her dance trainings learning ballet so why are these classical dancers not getting THEIR respect that they DESERVE. look at a classical dancer's feet. it would not be soft cute uwu rather it would be hardened and will have calluses that shows the years wirth of trainings and pains they suffered yet u want to mix that dance form with other dance forms? just bc u think that the classical dance form alone is 'boring'?
Art is something that is beyond culture and traditions, i agree but that does not mean one has to lose their originality, their identity to cater to someone else's standards. if a classical dancer only performs classical dance it is NOT 'boring', it is NOT 'less talented' than others. please stop. stop making it seem like a classical dancer needs to have some international dance forms mixed/fusioned with their original dance forms to looks more 'interesting'.
A Thai Indian dance fusion featuring Bharatnatyam classical Indian dance and Khon traditional Thai dance.
Starring Ball Ekkalak who dances the part of Rochana with Apo for the Sang Thong performance in Man Suang.
We see the exiled Rama, Sita and Lakshmana in the forest.
Rama runs off chasing a golden deer.
Sita sends Lakshmana after him.
Lakshmana leaves but first draws a circle of protection around Sita and tells her not to step from the circle.
The Demon king Ravana appears in disguise and forces Sita out of the circle, whereupon, he kidnaps her, fighting and wounding the eagle Jatayu who survives just long enough to tell Rama what happened.
Rama and his brother Lakshmana meet the monkey god Hanuman who ends up befriending them and aiding them in their quest to regain Sita.
Rama and Ravana eventually fight each other and Rama is ultimately victorious and reunites with his wife Sita.
Somehow, by the grace of the forces above, I was lucky enough to see a performance of Punyah Dance company- led by Parshwanath Upadhyay recently, and oh my goodness- it was beautiful. It was a dance ensemble of maybe 10 members, with three male dancers and seven female dancers. I saw two presentations, one on Krishna and another on Rama.
Holy shit- it hit me with so much inspiration.
The way they carried themselves, the involvement, the sheer coordination- it was mesmerizing.
It's like this surge of inspiration, and the more I saw it, the more amazed I was.
The timing of when I got it was amazing, too. I got the chance to go the program maybe two-three hours before, and I immediately took it.
I had been dull the entire day- watching dance videos online and wondering if I'd ever see it in person like that, just going and sitting down in the audience.
The universe was genuinely messing with me oh my god
The next hour, I got to know that i could go, and so we went.
We were stuck in traffic, and went half an hour late.
The program was supposed to finish in the next twn minutes.
But by some weird, amazing luck- we only missed maybe five minutes of the performance and saw the entire thing.
I dont know if it was sheer dumb luck, or it was something written down meant to happen.
But man, that performance was eye opening- and I couldn't ve happier.
