I got on reddit a couple of months ago and I discovered that while many people are neutral about bts or even dislike them, most of them are really polite and nice about it, and most discourse about bts is in a positive or neutral light. It's not like twitter where they call them flops in every 2 tweets. So it's similar to tumblr because people can have normal conversations (most of the time) about kpop groups there. Of course there are trolls and straight up haters there too but they either get downvoted very hard or deleted so it's I think better. Anyway my point is that I go on reddit today to see what people are talking about because I only check reddit like 2-3 times a week. And the first post is literally someone asking why bighit is pushing jikook out of all the ships.. And I just sat here blinking at the screen because... Really? We are having this conversation AGAIN? It wasn't even in the bangtan channel/sub, it was in a kpop sub where you can talk about any group. But then I read the whole post and it was very clear OP was one of those people who don't watch official content and just lives off of clips that are posted in the first 24 hours. There are not a lot of comments right now but all of them are very normal and lowkey calling out OP for being stupid so I upvoted all of them 😂

But like every fucking time a DVD comes out and we have footage from multiple days or even months and we see jikook hanging out and do their thing, EVERY DAMN TIME we have this same ass conversation. Every time it's fanservice every time it's "why are they together" every time it's "why is bh pushing them" MF IT'S BEEN YEARS OF THIS. Don't these people think that if you see them, CONSISTENTLY hang out with each other EVERY YEAR, don't you think that maybe... Just maybe they like hanging out and being in each others company???

Even if you take shipping completely out of the picture. Like don't you think its fucking weird to see two people who have known each other for 11 years, went through some insane shit together and even more that WE as FANS probably don't even know about, they clearly support and love each other and like hanging out with each other... And then you go on social media and tweet: "why do people, who are friends, spend time together?" DO YOU EVEN HEAR YOURSELF. I need someone to go up to these people when they are out with their friends and ask them if they secretly hate each other and only hang out just to please their parents or something.

You don't need to ship jikook to see they like each other. You don't need to ship taekook to see they like each other. You don't need to ship anyone in bangtan to see that they love each other to the moon and back. These men are in each others asses 24/7 but sure, the company is pushing them to do fanservice because they don't make enough money or something. Whether you (not you specifically) think jikook or taekook or yoonmin or anyone is dating or not, that's your business. If you ship them, you ship them, if you don't, you don't. But you literally cannot fucking walk up to me, look me in the eye and tell me they don't like each other. These boys are first and foremost FRIENDS And if you see any of them together, it's because THEY WANT TO SPEND TIME WITH EACH OTHER.

I don't know why it's so hard for some people to understand this. Maybe because fanservice is a normal? thing in Korea and I'm sure many groups are doing it. But I checked OPs post and comment history and they follow bts for a while now so they have to know that the tannies have moved past/moved away from doing typical kpop things loooooong ago. They are not your typical kpop group. Two members hanging out with each other in front of or behind camera is not fanservice. Can we fucking wrap this conversation up already, I'm so bored of seeing this being brought up every year. Sorry for the long essay 😔

When it comes to Jimin and Jungkook, people would always prefer to believe anything but the truth, reality and what they themselves say. Wait till whatever they are doing comes out, it will be all this again and even worse.

Poor Bang PD he really thinks that he can make Kpop mainstream in the West. Bless his heart. In stead of capitalizing on the love for Kpop in Asia , Latin America and other emerging markets which in a decade will account for the majority of the world's youngest population if not already; he is still obsessed with the US.

Also I know that the bts members are all adults and each one of them can make their own choice and direct their own lives but I couldn't help but feel pity for JK today after watching Bang PD's interview.

It is now clear that there was no vision in his song releases and the coming album beside proving the point that hybe hiring Scooter was not a disastrous investment strategy.

I expect no artistic growth from him coming out of this album as Scooter will do all it takes to prove that he can get the numbers he wants. But a what cost? Will JK ever feel ready to realise something of his own after this album which will break records thanks to Scooter?

Hybe/bighit has really decided to sacrifice one of their artist with a lot of potential in the name of proving a point to investors and salvaging Scooter's and Bang PD's ego.

The issue is that the moment they fail with JK at breaking into the US market they will toss him on the side only to repeat the same experiment with a newest hottest and youngest hybe artist

Also I am mad at the fandom. Your obsession with the 2025 reunion is partly the reason why I feel JK felt like he was running out of time and decided to partner with scooter. Bang PD mentioned that JK was not inspired and was not thinking of releasing an album all together. But my take on this is, if he knew that he was not enlisting soon he would have had time to pull himself out of the creative slamber he was in and taken the time to create a more meaningful album.

Don't get me wrong I do not beleive that every single song an artist performs and sings should be produced or written by him. But at least a debuting album should somehow showcase the artist's identity.

Unfortunately the fandom is blindly celebrating the 2025 reunion forgetting what the implications are. One of them being sending the youngest 3 members away at their prime when they don't have to.

This 2025 reunion is just not it at all and the members themselves will realise it but it will be too late. Thinking that a group can prosper at the expense of individual members is not it. Only when each member prospers on its own can the group be healthy and have longevity.

I hope my pessimistic outlook of the JK x Bang PD x Scooter collaboration is proven wrong. Otherwise I predict somber days ahead 😔

I'm sorry I'm here to vent if that is okay?

I just... My heart legit dropped to my stomach when i read the notice to be honest. I knew this was coming but my mind forever in denial always brushed it away saying that yeah nah it's not happening for a long time and now that the time is here I'm somewhat unprepared to deal with the fact!? Idk if I'm overreacting but i will miss them so much! But i guess on the other hand this is going to be good, cause a. This finally ends the long back and forth about whether they are doing it or not and b. It will be an actual break for them!? And of course Bighit has lots of content to deliver to us so maybe we will be alright!?(also 3 years is enough time to save money for tickets and travel to their concert right?) Ugh idk i wish they had announced it on like a Saturday and Sunday so that we could take an entire day to deal with all of this instead of having to focus on unimportant stuff like work 😔. I just want to lie down and listen to their songs all day and maybe cry openly instead of pretending something went in my eye.

this is a bit random but i remembered you saying in your tags that your will to live dropped after ptd did and like... the real lasting legacy for ptd for me personally is that now i have trust issues every time a kpop group i like is about to release a song. like the preview for back for more sounds good and that makes me a bit optimistic but part of me is also cautious bc a preview is just a small snippet, what if the whole track turns out to be a song that i dislike and that i feel doesn't fit txt at all? maybe a few years ago i would've been purely excited but now there's always that part of me that's like "please don't be another ptd" so i feel cautious before every release

anyway this is just a vent and this is my own personal problem, like i said i think the preview sounds good and it's cool that other people are excited! this is just more of a "what if" nagging thought for me and sometimes i wonder if other fans feel the same or if i'm just being pessimistic

JDKAJDJA i feel u 😔 personally i don't have a problem if i don't like a song one of my fav groups releases, so i won't be TOO disappointed if i don't like it. plus as someone from brazil i am REALLY excited to see them releasing a feature with a brazilian artist tbh 😭 my problem with ptd was the series of unfortunate events that lead us to that moment yk? like they were supposed to promote mots7 (which to me was a wonderful album) and go on tour, but then covid happened so the tour was cancelled, then they released dynamite... which was a BOP ngl i loved it i was just as obsessed as anyone else. but bighit saw how well the song performed internationally, especially in the usa, and seemed to become obsessed with trying to make bts appeal to the american media. so we got butter (and i was FUMING at the time bc txt had a cb with 0x1 shortly after a fcking bts comeback and i felt like they wouldn't stand a chance against bts on mysic shows and stuff 😭) and later on we got ptd which to me is honestly the weakest and most generic song bts has ever released. bts went from a group that co-wrote and co-produced most of their songs to a group that was being forced to only sing other people's generic stuff. (and i won't even mention BE bc that felt like a fever dream tbh it was literally released just as damage control and also at a specific time of the year so bts could win album of the year in 2021 without actually releasing an album in 2021.) and now that bts is on a hiatus i fear that they try to put them txt through a btsification process or smth idk???? but at least for now it doesn't seem to be the case. i don't mind them appealing to the american public and releasing songs that are meant to be a radio hit over there or whatever, as long as they don't lose their essence in the long run... and considering this album concept seems to be following that txt formula we know and love (since it's a continuation of the previous one, apparently), i think everything's still ok for now.

plus around the time do it like that was released they mentioned it on a welive that korean fans were getting kinda frustrated at how much promotion they were doing in the usa and not in korea and they were like don't worry we still have smth BIG coming up for us in korea, and i'm p sure they were talking about the album!! so i think we will survive. i hope. particularly i'm super excited to find out what the album is gonna sound like!! it's the first full album since freeze so hopefully we'll get many great tracks to jam to

I'm glad it went well! yeah I'm not a big fan of the merch either, but i wasn't very disappointed bc it was exactly what I expected based on the oty merch lol. i actually do slightly prefer the bets merch over what oty had to offer just bc it at least has some color with the orange as opposed to completely black and white, but both sets of merch are just. so plain. and honestly i don't necessarily think the merch looks bad, it's just minimalistic which is definitely the safe option for design these days. it's just that if I'm paying $90 for a hoodie personally id rather have more effort put into the design than just words on a black background. and given that my friend who got a t-shirt (or hoodie, can't remember) from oty said it didn't hold up well, just makes me even less inclined to buy anything, personally

honestly it makes sense, bc their entourage can only haul around so much merch with them, so there's bound to be limited options compared to concerts in Korea. and if you have limited options it makes sense to design something minimal that will theoretically be broadly appealing to most people. which is why I didn't have much expectations for the merch this time (or for any tour in the future either). but I still wish that one day they'll have a wider variety of merch, or at least more unique/less minimal designs for north american carats one day 😔 it's not like pledis or hybe are incapable of creating cute merch that's widely liked, they've designed a lot of cute merch for SVT over the years. i find some comfort at least in knowing that there are carats who do really love the minimal designs and are excited to buy the merch, but yeah, wish there was something for me :') (and i wish the prices were lower, i think we all can agree on that!!!)

OK I'M CONFUSED

Yall know what a business is right? BTS IS A BUSINESS MODEL that needs to turn a profit to be considered a commercial success. They are not for charity nor are they freebie fairies.

We brag about them making significant impact on the South Korean economy but turn around and question their business endeavors.

We brag about them selling out stadiums and turn around and question their money making ethics.

Numbers don't lie and making money is equally a measure of success.

The fact it took a year or however long for BTS to get on board this project means nothing because the concept of webtoons isn't particularly new to BTS. It just means a lot of thought went into that project. It could have been about percentage shares, or ethical concerns over collaborating with WATTPAD a platform that houses several explicit content that allows people to consume the boys in a sexual way they haven't consented to. It could be the contract and the marketing schedules and requirements of them to actively lend their images to the promotion of this project. That's extra work they have to do and if the renumeration is doesn't match the work input then they have every right to consider their options. It could be a myriad of reasons.

BTS are ambitious- some more so than the others. Jungkook got into trouble branching out on his own to use his image and platform to promote his and his brother's business TO MAKE MONEY. How is that any different from these business initiatives they been taking?

BigHit's business model was built around this one group. They placed all their eggs in that one basket and took a lot of risk on them to build them as a profitable business entity.

I don't see how this webtoon is different from the others or what the big deal is- the wattpad collaboration certainly makes things interesting. One thing i take away from this is hybe certainly don't mind fans consuming the bts brand sexually nor do they mind shipping. Business is business. I mean they still took papa mochi back didn't they?? Gotta love capitalism.

And yes some of them are artists too. This could be an opportunity, an outlet for Junkoook's art Yoongi's fanfic writing ass or JM's doodling 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

It could be a way for them to creatively express themselves outside producing and making music if they are actively involved in the creative process- now I know Jungkook will write himself as Jimin's mysterious mistress if you leave him to it😔

Whether it's webtoon or wattpad these are separate profitable ventures with builtin audiences and content that gets adapted into series and movies- i mean Harry styles has that fanfic turned book deals and movies even though he didn't get shit from it because he wasn't directly involved or associated with it but BTS are.

Really if this is not for you no one is forcing you to consume it but stop ruinng it for the rest of us who do and will find it entertaining.

That's what it is isn't it? Webtoons novels all these provide entertainment to people. Some like to watch, some like to read and some like to see pictures.

When you say you prefer ITS and BV, you do know these directly involve BTS and BTS have complained about how depressing it was for them to be creating those contents because they felt more like entertainers than actual artists? You make it sound like Its bv etc is the only valid form of entertainment or that it's much more elite than others.

In the absence of Run, since they are on a break PEOPLE READ and consume them through other mediums that don't directly involve them.

Isn't hybe investing in technology that replicates the boy's voice so they can use it for voice overs, ads, etc that don't directly involve them because that can wear them down?

Hmm.. I think I'll have to say I Know I Love You is my favourite title track. It's also overall one of my favourite songs in general, so nobody can take her place I think. Of the B sides, I have to say Frost and New Rules are the ones I listen to the most!! They just get me so hype, I absolutely love them 😌

ugh i know i love you is such a good song!!! really glad txt released all of these rock songs this year! not a huge fan of frost, but i AM obsessed with their visuals in the perf video they released recently! love me some dark concepts!! but i love new rules a lot!
