Bionicle is a really funny fandom considering the guy who the half of the fandom views as end all be all arbiter of canon is also the guy whose takes of "his own" characters are the epitome of "HE WOULDN'T SAY THAT"

would it be fucked up if the mata let it slip to the rahaga and dume that they were briefly dismembered and had to pop their bodies back into shape when they arrived on mata nui. like gali complaining she isnt used to walking all these stairs and her feet hurt "worse than when i came out of the canister" and bomonga is like ? so she explains she woke up with like half her joints rotted into goo and several bones just fallen out of her body and she had to slot it all back together, and she realizes halfway through that hes looking at her with genuine horror so she asks whats wrong and hes just like thats not normal. thats not normal gali.
"... were not supposed to... put ourselves back together?... just like that?" "absolutely not." "oh" "thats horrifying." "oh"

Onewa: can I just beat these things to death already?
Nokama: I don't know, can you?
Onewa, sighing: MAY I just beat these things to death already?
Vakama: NO YOU MAY NOT

Will your bionicles presentation be appropriate for those of us with little to no knowledge of the lore?
Good news! That's the entire premise! My goal is to cover as much of the history of Bionicle as I can reasonably uncover, talking about the history of the toyline, the story and setting, and the context for why some things are the way they are. I want to try and be in-depth with it so that someone who knows literally nothing can walk out knowing Some Things.
Part of why it isn't done yet is because my plans kept getting more & more ambitious and it all became a little daunting for me. LOL

Me: "I can write a nice little essay script about the theme of destiny in Bionicle and how its used in the story. Shouldn't be too hard. I can definitely be normal about it."
Me (months later): *has written 30+ full pages of detailed analysis*

A few things I noticed rewatching WoS again:
Vakama's screaming as he falls. It's just low and hidden by the music. Listen carefully
Vakama apologizes to Nokama for letting the team down
At Norik's, "If you Toa are to rescue the Matoran, you must do so together. This is something you can't change," Vakama looks genuinely hurt and taken aback before challenging Norik back; "Watch me." I made a whole post on it, but forgot to save it. This point is a TL;DR, and the words aren't as nice
When Matau's slashing at everyone, Vakama DOES talk; You can faintly hear, "Calm down," and it sounds closest to Vakama’s voice
We hear MUCH more of Vakama's motif in this movie than the previous, I think. We also hear the MoL theme make a grand return when Vakama bungess to save Matau
Pretty sure everyone saw this, but Sidorak hitting Vakama on the back and nearly knocking Vakama off his feet is just a very funny moment. Like Sidorak is smart, based on his, "We really are quite alike, you and I," but he forgets he's physically stronger than a Toa or Toa-Hordika
When asked, "What does it change?" by Nokama in the beginning of the movie, Vakama looks around before answering, "Nothing." He goes from VERY nervous to faking it 'til he makes it in seconds and it royally screws him over. Idk, I like that moment VERY much

apparently the first proper draft name for what would later become Bionicle was "Boneheads from Voodoo Island"

miscellaneous Krakua in the order of mata nui thoughts. all of the stupid variety
A) Krakua is one of the smaller members since most of the guys here are titan sets so hes used to being picked up like a suitcase or for a piggy back ride. this was initially so he would not wander off or get lost or make them waste time, but then they just kept doing that out of habit. he loves it, actually, so when hes around other beings who are his size or worse smaller and so cant just grab him like an apple to drag him around he gets a lil sad about it
B) hes the only person who knows where Jerbraz is at all times. everybody else has learned to sense him or figure his position via hyper awareness of their space but Krakua can just fuckin. hear him. he will run at full speed and jump at him so Jerbraz has to catch him every single time they meet just to blow his cover. theyre having fun :)
C) typical order of mata nui exercise to improve your minds abilities: meditate uninterrupted for two hours while directly next to Krakuas noise tests. this includes fending him off (still meditating) when he tries to move his noise tests onto you specifically
D) the aforementioned noise tests are, in theory, a good exercise of Krakuas sonic powers by applying them to his staff and figuring out how they can affect the target through it. they consist, in practice, of Krakua smacking his staff against the closest surface available while applying a different more insane soundfont each time. he can do this for hours. he will do this for hours.
E) a non comprehensive list of noises Krakua has bonked into existence in the bionicle universe through noise tests:
Half Life 2 crowbar sound effect
Spirit bod static
Killing Machines from MNOG
Earth-shattering dad sneeze
Disgustingly wet cough
Wilhelm scream
Down Under (instrumental) by Men at Work
At least three quarters of Nero's Day At Disneyland's discography
Saxophone solo
Train honk
Truck honk
Car honk
Bike honk
Clown honk
Cucaracha honk
Sea elephant honk
Hydrogen bomb explosion
Rubber ducky
An entire audio library worth of slapstick sound effects
Several positively insane conversations between the various order members via the magic of TF2 fanvideo-style audio splicing and rearranging, currently following a vaguely coherent plot as he got too carried away and started making lore for this on-the-fly youtube poop hes been smacking on the side of a wall otherwise motionless for about four hours now
Mashup of every single polka cover medley by Matoran Universe Weird Al Yankovich
Micheal Jackson vocalizations
Yodeling

I have a couple KNPS questions:
What does Hydraxon do and how does he fit into things?
What happened to the Toa Mangai (Lhikan's team)? Specifically Naho?
1. I'm gonna be totally honest, Hydraxon is a character that I regularly forget exists. He sure is There, I guess. Idk I just don't find him particularly memorable 🤷 it's likely that he wouldn't show up until the Mahri stuff. I think he's been more or less singlehandedly responsible for keeping the Barraki in their underwater prison. Just. Doing that. For the last 40-1000 years or so. Give or take. Time works weird down there.
2. WELL. Lhikan was, at the time of the Metru becoming Toa, the last remaining member of his team just like in canon. I probably won't be getting too into it in the fic itself unless I do someday get around to writing that 04-05 prequel fic, but a lot of them died. The Mangai were the last time that every staff member at KNPS was a Toa and it went tits up pretty quickly. "Having a functioning moral compass" and "being a generally good person" aren't prerequisites for being Toa, after all, and unlike the Metru not all of them became Toa at the same time or gained their powers from the same person.
I sort of accidentally lined up the Barraki's imprisonment with Lhikan's time as a Toa (and specifically part of a team). But a big war with several very powerful people would absolutely have claimed some lives.
For Nidhiki, I'm not sure. I have some ideas for him, some of which are spoilery. All I'll say there is that I've never really talked about exactly how Lhikan died in this universe.
As for Naho...I think she died stopping Tuyet. The rest of the town really only remembers it as that one big storm, but it was the result of two very powerful Water Toa fighting. Naho basically drowned them both in order to stop Tuyet.
As you can probably imagine there was a period of several years at KNPS where the school was just fucking cursed. It was bad.

While I'm not really a fan of Good Guys All Have X Eye Colour and Bad Guys All Have Y Eye Colour in almost any context, I will give Bionicle some credit for deviating from the Good=Blue, Bad=Red status quo the couple times they did it by giving all the good guys green eyes instead
