It was Nonbinary People's Day recently, and I thought, hmm... I really want to talk about my bioshifters and how they all typically tend to identify as nonbinary in some way (I have other alien species that of course definitely don't fit the binary, but bioshifters are nonbinary for more...mental/comfort reasons?).

Also since I touched on Eden's emotional language in the snippet with Gale, I've seriously wanted to elaborate on it! His species also practices a very involved hair/feather culture that I think would be fun to talk about, but I'm just nervous by the way I struggle to coherently talk about/explain things, so I haven't done any of them yet, lol <3

when i was trying to explain a story i'd been reading (Bioshifter, by Thundamoo) to @lazodiac i went with the "deliberately and knowingly do it badly to at least stop agonizing over getting it perfect" route at first

(better half than none)

and so i said "halfway between Chronicles of Narnia and Kafka's Metamorphosis", got a good cackle of that-tells-me-less-than-nothing

(why is it always "Kafka's Metamorphosis" but most other books go author-unnamed or by-author?)

and then after the laughing was done we gave it some more thought and i tossed in Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking-Glass and also Flatland. and that last made for a lot more laughs

favorite color: I'm not much of a favorites person. I'm fascinated by stygian blue tho, it's like I was always searching for that exact shade of blue I loved so much and I could never find it in the colored pencils sets... and then I found out about impossible colors and I was like "oh. maybe I was chasing something that doesn't exist"
