He’s used to the smell of the decay of sinew and flesh, trapped in the heating confines of armor pieces that mirror his own. Their own shiny coffins, perfectly preserved, except for the blood and cracks smeared across the metal.

This should not have been his breaking point. Not with the stench of rotten pig carcasses and bile permeating throughout every pore of his being.

Or: Reynauld and Dismas enter the Warrens and walk out with a whole load of baggage, religious baggage included.

Failure rests heavily on Reynauld’s shoulders.

No matter his cries of encouragement, of motivation and calls for a stalwart heart, the gurgling calls of the fish-folk became too much to bear on him and his allies. It’s with a heavy mind, and a sort of trance that he walked out of the transept, past the rowdy tavern, past the barrack lounge and up the stairs to his shared room.

A few paces from the door, he could hear the rhythmic shing! of a whetstone filing metal. It brought him comfort, but it also made him freeze.

Or: Reynauld fails at an expedition. The only thing that could possibly soothe his mind is praying at the transept, but that wasn't enough. Dismas however, is enough.
