Instagram comment section is a cesspool of brain-dead stupidity that rivals Twitter.

There’s race-discourse over a gag in SpongeBob SquarePants in which the OG voice-actors play “parodies” of their respective characters as humans… and people are getting mad that they’re all old white people.

Like yes- these “old white people” have provided the voices for these characters you know and love for over 20 years. Again, this scene was supposed to be a parody. The show making fun of itself. And it’s from an episode that’s supposed to celebrate the show’s 20 year run.

And legit- there is nothing wrong with re-imagining the Sponegbob cast as humans of color. That’s what’s shown in the stage musical- which is REALLY DAMN GOOD BY THE WAY

We can have a discussion about needing more diversity in the voice acting and cartoon industries- but this gag meant to showcase the talent of the original voice cast and honoring their work for over 20 years is not the place. Trying to find something problematic where it isn’t just deviates attention from real issues.

It’s not M. Night’s Live Action remake of Avatar: The Last Airbender, where in a world inspired by Asian mythology- the hero’s are portrayed by white people while the bad guys are portrayed by people of color.

What Teas I specifically see as Splinter and the Turtles "go to" teas

Splinter: Hojicha (nutty, low caffeine, roasted), and Kikicha (calming and helps with anxiety)
