I based this on the painting The Fallen Angel by Alexandre Cabanel because I really like it, and used Shinji’s appearance during the fight with Aizen, instead of wings and angels in the background I decided to throw some elements of spiritual pressure.

Here I am posting again. This time I'm gonna be very quick and go right to the point.

I am genuinely shocked by how I forgot everything about this arc. I surely didn't remember Urahara saying this. Clearly an Ichiruki fan.

I have to be honest though: Urahara was in the top five threats list, he analyzed every possible scenario and prepared accordingly, he performed bankai for the first time in 600+ chapters, but in the end, he is confident that Ichigo and Rukia will deal with the whole situation.

Special mention to Chad and Inoue, who came all the way up to Reiokyu (not sure if a spelled it right) without having to fight a single enemy (at least not at the chapter I'm reading now).

I do love though that it all comes to Ichigo and Rukia in the end. It all started with them, so it's just right.

I know Kubo was sick and tired throughout this arc's writing process, but I really hope to get more explained in the anime, as Kubo himself stated.

Bleach Rant:

Is it me or the last Bleach episode was a hot mess? Like it's just rehashed arrancar arc but somehow worse? Plus the cliche friends to enemies trope.

Also the fight pacing is so chaotic?? I know Kenpachi is low key depressed but I felt that his character regressed to some extent. But to be fair, he just lost someone and is also freaking about her lieutenant as a shadow of that grief. (I'm assuming)

Also unnecessary sexualisation of women?? And I'm not just talking about that ridiculous Orihime dress....that too, on a battle scene??? Not to mention there is no ethos in the battle (Orihime carried the ethos in Arrancar arc at least), like what are we fighting for if the shinigamis are already dropping like flies. Which city are you trying to save, and is it already not destroyed? If it's the "new world order" the subordinate villains are just weapons except maybe a few who do have themes like fear and imagination. Also, too many villains...like people need someone to hold onto. But right now, they've just a big load of miscellaneous characters with unrealistic extra power.

But what about our hero's side? As usual, we don't know what he's fighting for. Is his motive Ishida? If so, Ichigo and Ishida do not share the same bond as other shounen rivals. In fact, Ulquiorra was a far better rival.

I know fanfic writers who'd write a better plot (except maybe Rukia battle scene which was really good) because it feels like Kubo wrote this whole thing on gunpoint. So I'm just hoping that the rest of the episodes make some sense.

God the High School Warfare was such good content - I had to do the visored (I forgot Kensei had a design alreadyyyyyy ORL) in this style, some designs I’m more happy with than others so maybe I’ll revisit this someday 🤔

Bleach re-reading SPOILER ALERT

The first time I read the chapters about the Thousand Year Blood War was 10 years ago(-ish). Lately I've realized I don't remember a single thing about how the story goes on, so I started to read them again, while waiting for the streaming to be released on D+.

Spoilers from now on!

Today I was reading the "Everything but the rain" series of chapters from volumes 58/59, in which we get a glimpse of Isshin during his time as a Captain and his past with Masaki, Ichigo's mother. We also learn that Isshin surname at the time was Shiba. Yes that Shiba. (Fyi I'm reading the chapters as if it's the first time, so I don't remember if Kubo put any other flashback about this or not).

In that moment I couldn't help but think about some scenes when Ichigo broke into Soul Society to save Rukia. They make so so much sense now, because not only Rukia herself, but also Byakuya and Ukitake saw the resemblance.

And here Byakuya answers: "He's not related, at least not... To the one you're thinking of". Given this answer I thought that somehow Byakuya knows who is Ichigo (Isshin's son), while Ukitake didn't realize yet.

Eventually, when Byakuya and Ichigo fight, Byakuya ends up noticing how Ichigo shares the same kind of moral compass as Kaien (or the Shiba family, at least), just like Urahara was surprised when Isshin was ready to give up being a Soul Reaper in order to protect Masaki from hollowification.

There's one scene though, that stabbed me right in the chest.

Also, both Isshin and Ichigo broke the Soul Society's laws in order to protect the person they love care about: Isshin by going back to the world of the living to check on Masaki; Ichigo by going to the Soul Society to save Rukia from being executed.

I don't know about you, but I'm to cry in a corner.

P.s.: I've just noticed that "Blade and me" is also the title of volume 8 with Zangetsu on the cover 😭
