yes my day is okay i hope yours is too hi bluejackals..... yes... the theremin instrument.. i have one single memory of it where i went to one of my estranged ex stepmoms christmas party with my estranged polyamorous criminal father when i was 9 or 10 and they were playing the south park christmas special with that stupid poop character on this tiny ass box tv and some guy brought this big box with a theremin inside and he set it up next to the tv and kept making noises like the characters talking and it was just really weird experience overall im sure it's a fine instrument

you're so right. like I know people don't like how parrot treated wifies after he burnt the compass but they were..what? 9 million blocks out? if my closest friend did that I would also crash the fuck out. And it's not like your enemies can betray you; only your friends can, so that's probably why parrot was so mad about it. you're right. they're both flawed in the ways you describe. Just because parrot swings between appearing overly emotional and an emotional flatline doesn't mean those emotions never exist. After wifies died, when he fought that diamond player and got them to leave, his breathing was shaky as hell and you could hear it when he finally escaped. and then he only got a bit of time to break down or whatever in that 2x1 hole before going back to district 13. In his head he has to keep going somewhere and after something or else he keels over and stops functioning because, like you said, he's goal-oriented. Once he runs out of goals he literally just goes back and sits in the shell of the last thing he has left of Wifies (house).

Meanwhile, Wifies is very people-oriented. We all know this. I think this makes it easier to think of uu!parrot as a bad person, because Wifies is so locked in on parrot that it makes parrot's side of the friendship look less uhh. Less caring? Lost my soup here

BUT YEAH THEY'RE TRYING TO MAKE IT WORK...parrot asks wifies several times for advice and his opinion on choices parrot has made in the finale (if he was wrong not to kill ash, if he was wrong to kill yusai). He doesn't automatically brush wifies off. When he needed to "cool down" after killing Yusai he wanted Wifies to come with him to check out spawn. No one else. Just wifies. And we all know Wifies is trying to work with parrot so I'm not going to say anything more about that.

they were so doomed by the narrative. head in hands. but the love was there.

wanted to talk about odyssey duo and my um. view on their dynamic and relationship.

probably going to be a pretty long yap, but i really wanted to talk about them since there's been some talk about them after the last uu video. it caused me to think deeper into their relationship and i wanted to write it down.

(putting it here just in case: not targeted at anyone. just yapping about the codependent silly guys that i hate.)

the thing about odyssey duo, to me, is that yes, they are in some ways unhealthy. they're codependent and messy. but that doesn't mean that they're "toxic" or their friendship is not working.

they're both flawed characters with destructive traits. parrot is dry and unable to express his emotions properly, which leads to misunderstandings over his intentions. wifies is not a saint either, he's stubborn and can get very pushy when it comes to his own decisions. (insisting on dean leaving without explaining anything and trying to do it without parrot knowing, burning the compass to forcefully keep parrot from going to farlands)

but the main thing about them to me is that if you really look into it, they're both trying to make it work. they do care about each other and have both shown it more than once in different ways.

they both did and said things that aren't great. but it doesn't make one or the other good or bad. yes, parrot came out quite cold and uncaring a couple of times, but it doesn't automatically makes him a bad person, or means that he's mistreating, or even 'abusing' wifies in any sense.

if we're pushing it to that point, you could say wifies also used parrot in a sense of wanting to feel human and wanting someone who would 'want him back' without knowing his real self. (im being dramatic with this, obviously)

parrot comes off as uncaring because of how dry and unable to show his actual emotions he seems to be. which is a valid character trait considering how often he just couldn't because of the circumstances. parrot is someone who's very goal oriented. when he needs to focus on something, he locks in. it's the only thing he thinks about and everything else goes to the back of his mind.

which also brings me to the point of the way parrot deals with grief. one thing is how often parrot just couldn't express his grief over losing someone. he grieved luigi, yes, because it was one time he actually was allowed to take a little bit of time to actually process the fact that someone died in front of him. and even then, instead of fully allowing himself to grieve, he had to focus on other things.

same goes for dean. dean's death was pretty much shock value for both parrot and viewers, and parrot tried to grieve him too. but during it, he was interrupted by literally the number one threat at the time.

so of course when another loss comes into picture, parrot doesn't allow himself to grieve him. he acknowledges his loss ("your leader just killed my best friend"), but there was no time for him to actually let himself properly grieve wifies or even allow himself to react. they were in the middle of dealing with the mafia, and he needed to focus on that instead.

we only see the impact wifies' death had on him by the end of the episode. where he does listens. he lights the beacon despite expressing his indifference to them the whole episode. that, once again, shows that he does care.

he was hesitant on letting wifies go through with joining the mafia in the first place. he agreed because he trusted wifies to be safe and know what he's doing. it was already shown to us that wifies is parrot's weak point. he tried so many times to keep wifies away from the danger simply because he didn't want to lose him. back in the video where clown was hunting parrot, there was a very clear parallel between branzy being clown's weak point and wifies being parrot's. the difference in that was parrot knew clown wouldn't have hesitated to kill wifies.

they both changed the ways the go about things for the other. they care, but unfortunately, they were doomed by the narrative. the universe screwed them over by putting them into circumstances where they just wouldn't have worked it out.

in conclusion, because this is already very long, yes, odyssey duo are messy. they're not the healthiest duo, and they do have issues. but they tried to overstep those and work, and that's what i like about them.

ough,,, mermaid bar percy au save me,,, mermaid percy who has SEVERAL different tails (one from tyson, one from the hephaestus cabin, one at LEAST from a godly admirer, one that estelle covered in water-proof doodles, etc. etc.) that he wears on different days i think i saw somewhere that the real RR-verse mermaids have two tails in atlantis?? maybe poseidon gifted him a twin-tail version as well? hmm also love the outsider pov potential of family day at the bar. yeah, this is mermaid percy (does he have a stage name?? that's something he should have, right?? what should it be??), this is his 4 parents, this is his 40 different siblings/friends/polycule members(?), this is the cutest little sister you ever did see, and all of *this* (gestures) is probably a cult. BUT they're a hot cult and give absurd tips so :/ :) stage name ideas for mermaid percy:

I am telling you I was full set on Mariana and then I got to Persea and laughed so hard I was seeing black spots like absolutely he would go with the stupidest pun and Triton absolutely refuses to say it.

(To be so real Percy probably has like an actual stage name but literally everyone including himself just calls him Persea to the point where if his actual stage name is used no one knows who is being talked about.)

But like 100% every outsider thinks Percy is part of the weirdest cult but like a mostly harmless one? Or at least one that Percy polices strictly and can and has jumped out of the tank to yell at his weird uncle for hitting on the other performers so like it works

Also,,Wifies wearing a turtleneck to hide the collar from other people,, not being quite free but freer than he’s ever been when he’s in unstable..

I am staring back with my own large eyes. we are united in big eye-dom.

I think nice Wifies gets onto UU because Parrot asks, and the overseer (who is a beautiful evil woman in my head bc I love beautiful evil women) decides it's a good chance for popularity. The idea is that the overseer is as obsessed with fame, but is willing to do more intense things for it. So Parrot asks, and the collar gets a few upgrade for long-range use, and Wifies gets sent out.

UU as a LARP is kinda my favorite idea ever b/c to me its like. Spoke, Wemmbu, and Parrot found this weird world with all these problems, and the world doesn't hurt them or anything, it's just weird. So they told their friends, who came to see it, and from there they began talking like "oh wouldn't it be cool if x happened and then y" and they decided. Well. Why not? So they started factions and stuff to try and understand the server while also being able to LARP and have fun in a way that's more structured than their usual LS antics. LS is fun and has it's moments of structure, but this is more organized and that can be really attractive. It's like the difference between unplanned interblog RP vs a DnD session if that makes sense???? So they're all playing to "win" over each other, but they're never trying to actually really hurt seriously. This also helps explain why some of the plot points just kinda stop being relevant; they're just friends LARPing, so sometimes things don't work. JamatoP had stuff to do, so he gets axed from Spoke's story and Spoke makes it sound like they had a horrible breakup. Clown has time off so he joins suddenly and gets a huge arc in Parrot's videos before fucking off back to LS. Things like that !!!

My current explanation of the collar is this: it's made using materials off of Guardians for their electric properties, like their fins and scales. There's a spike in the back inner part that connects directly to Wifies's spine through the neck, and the overseer sends electric signals through it to override Wifies and make him do things, along with just being able to shock him badly in general for punishment purposes. It's probably a little difficult to hide, so big turtlenecks are necessary, though when it's visible its. . . kinda beautiful? It glitters like scales and is waterproof from it's Guardian origins. This is also why it messes with the voidwalker part of him— whatever Guardians are, I don't think they're quite natural. Their strange magic-not magic conflicts with void magic.

One of the funniest things about the show Person Of Interest to me is that they are constantly bluejacking people's phones, literally almost every episode they'll clone some person's phone to spy on it and figure out if they're a criminal or a victim, and on the very rare times the jack fails they're like wHAT? wow this guy must be super paranoid about security, maybe he has something to hide!! as if turning off the bluetooth on your phone when you aren't using it wasn't the most tech incompetent baseline minimum possible effort security precaution that anyone could (and should) do

hi bluejackals!!! i think my favoritest thing about drawing is that i can do whatever i want. if im imagining eternal misery for a character in my head i can just draw it. if i want 2 characters to sloppily make out i can just draw that. its really awesome and it lets the thoughts in my head get out there, no matter how inane or silly
