i really enjoy how reo and nagi’s relationship is being looked down on by ego. nagi, by nature, is an egoist to the point that he’ll do whatever it takes to beat the next level no matter who he has to use. reo is extremely vulnerable due to lack of (real) affection from his parents and attachment issues. there literally could not be a more toxic pairing, and my heart sunk once i saw reo feeling for the first time that HE was improving and having fun with soccer just for nagi to take advantage of that and drag him back to his old tendencies of relying on someone in a very codependent, parasitic way. and for ego to say nagi isn’t talented enough to pull something like that off even if he’s a prodigy? chef’s kiss, literally no one has ever told him that before and i hope he gets that realization soon for his own good.

it’s also interesting because nagi is extremely ignorant, almost to the point of utter apathy in terms of empathy, and i really believe he doesn’t realize there’s a problem with his behavior.

reo is COMPLETELY right here, but he’s so easy to manipulate from his more or less neglectful parents that he just ends up going back to what was essentially a toxic ex boyfriend from the way their friendship worked 💀 these two could not be worse for each other, and i saw a lot of people more angry at reo than nagi, but man reo is about to have a bad time. :/ he was making so much progress man, it sucks. anyways, i just wanted to talk about how unintentionally insidious this was from nagi. feel free to add!
