Something we find very comforting about being a system, especially as a pw/BPD, is that no matter what, as long as we still exist then we're in this together. We don't have to worry about the people we care most deeply about within our system simply suddenly deciding to up and leave because they realized their life is better off without us. Regardless of anything that happens we have to work together, we have to keep trying, because it's our body, our life we have to share. It's something we can fall back on, something we can always be certain of. Even if everyone else in the world chooses to leave, at least we'll still have each other.

This!! It'd be so rad. artist ramble ahead - I know it's somewhat of a stereotype when played up annoyingly for fake drama or shock factor, but when it has a specific reason behind it or it's clearly part of the animation stylization it doesn't bother me as much. From a character design perspective it does help greatly to have some sort of indicator for who's fronting when it comes to visual media, and many systems in fiction tend to have a magical element to them that can justify the indicator. But there are ways to do it without such things too! One of our more recent plural characters wears their hair differently for every one of their frequent fronters - it's multicolored so I can make it even more distinct/varied, and putting up ones' hair differently is way quicker and easier than changing a whole outfit or digging around a backpack or something for a different fronting pin/bracelet/etc. (portraying co-fronting visually is a bit more tricky lmao)

Other ideas we've had include a scifi setting with some kind of advanced technology that broadcasts who's fronting either publicly or to trusted people, or a fantasy/magic/powers/etc setting where different members can only access certain powers the body has, or a shapeshifter that changes drastically depending on who's in front. I'm personally a fan of the animation style changing to indicate different members because I'm a sucker for exaggerated stylization in animation and I think it's in a funny in-between grey area where it's noticeable to the audience but not exactly canonically happening in-universe.

Basically imo it's most important to have your visual indicator match the lore and vibe of the source itself, and it's not portrayed purely for horror and shock value. Like idk I know it frustrates some people but from a visual design perspective it's very useful to have *some* kind of shorthand or another; body language can only go so far. It can also determine a lot about the system's personal experience - if their eye color or bodily shape somehow is involuntarily changing upon switching, that means they're going to have a hard or almost impossible time masking, and they may feel differently because of it. Plus, what would that make system discovery like? Would it be impossible to be unaware without extremely high memory barriers? Or is it somehow connected to their conscious awareness of it? Lots to think about and build off of. ^^

imagine how cool it would be if plurality had the visual effects it's dramatized to have in fiction. like if your body's eye colors would change as you came on and off of front. that would be wicked

Different cultures can have super horrible things that get ingrained into people but you can always unlearn that. NOBODY IS INHERENTLY EVIL. genuine question for my friends of the inclusive plural community: how... do.... pan-origins work.????? Like they're valid as hell, they're very cool and conceptually fascinating, but I don't understand them in the slightest and would like to! Like I understand how pangender is "gender = yes, all (minus exclusive genders)", I understand how pansexual is "sexuality = everyone, no gender specifics", even panconscious makes perfect sense! but we do not comprehend pan-origins like panadaptive, pancreated, panendogenic, etc. If anybody who uses these terms could explain their perspective / why they use the label that would be so honestly helpful! Thank you!
