hawks: sooo what are we watching today?
dabi: the lion king
hawks: disney?
dabi: yeah, i wanna watch how simba’s old man dies and he’s better off without him
hawks: okay, sure. so you wanna tell me that you don’t cry on disney movies?
dabi: me? never. birdie please, you know me.
*somewhere in the middle of the lion king movie*
dabi: *mufasa dies and he is curled up in a blanket on hawks’ lap and sobs loudly*
hawks: *stroking dabi’s hair gently* are you ok babe? still not crying?
dabi: *sobbing* yes, why? i told you he’s better of without mufasa, and i’m not crying at all
hawks: *smiling a little bit* of course, softie
dabi: i’m not a softie
hawks: sure you’re not

Like. Ok. I fucking hate atsushi ohkubo I want him dead this is an established fact but it fucking BAFFLES me that mr terminally horny managed to write not only one of the best shounen female protagonists of all time (imo) but also have two female villains that are legitimately well written and threatening and aren’t some stupid “she’s evil because of a man” trope. Like maka? Wonderful protagonist. Love her dearly. Girlflop. Medusa? Literally just evil for the sake of it and incredibly competent and conniving. Arachne? Actually threatening and in charge of a massive organization.
& out of the side characters… Tsubaki has so much depth even if he dropped the ball on exploring her character more. Liz and Patty are both incredibly talented and interesting. Those three are all allowed to exist outside of the male character they’re grouped with. Iirc Marie is literally the only romance obsessed female character and that’s more or less a “I want to start a family and settle down” thing instead of a “I’m a woman so my primary goal in life is finding a man thing.” No we don’t talk about the fucking cat. Fine. Blair is powerful and competent when she’s not being the worst character in the story. I generally try not to think about her. And there are several other female characters in the supporting cast that are fairly well written (jackie, Kim, eruka) or are treated with the same level of respect as the male minor characters even if they’re not fleshed out (naigus, azusa).
It’s so fascinating. Ohkubo is so weird. Man is the world’s leading woman respecting misogynist. Guy who sees women as actual people but chooses to be grossly horny about it anyways. & then he somehow got worse with fire force but I’m not reading that anyways. Not praising him for any of this by the way this is like the bare minimum but it’s just shocking that it’s coming from him of all people.

Indentured for Life au
What has natsuo been up to since he was freed ? What have the other quirkless people done after realease ?Also how have some heroes(Like hawks) and hero students reacted to finding out that the organizatorom they served was using slave labor
Natsuo is catching up on his schooling! He's in an accelerated program and, thanks to an embarrassingly small amount of settlement money from the government, he has his own shitty little apartment in a barely tolerable area. He loves it to pieces. He isn't used to living alone, so it gets pretty lonely, but some of the other workers live close by and they come hang out pretty often. Izuku visits a lot too! He's aiming to be a nurse. Some of the others have gotten work in hero agencies for costume repair (its. ethically strained, but its the only work they know and they are happy to do it, as long as they are getting paid a fair wage.) and some others are working in activism and quirk discrimination charities.
As for reactions?
Hawks
His hands were still shaking. He'd been retching uncontrollably for what felt like hours, his hands shaking as he torn himself out of his costume. How many times had he been grateful for the hand stitched seams on his costume being gentler on his wings? For the warm leather on his googles that had already been shaped for his head, with hand written instructions for leather care tucked into the box. Fuck - he'd thought they were old fashioned for the note, not locked in a factory without so much as a fucking printer. He needed to make a public statement, the faster the better. He had to say something loudly because the HPSC had time to write his statement for him. Just. Just when his hands stopped shaking.
Endeavor
His PR team must be having a field day. Endeavor's own son, recovered from one of the factories? The man himself with nothing to say? What could he say? That he'd kept his mouth shut so his youngest son had a chance at overtaking All Might, that his youngest son could help where he failed? Ha - that'd go over well. He hoped Natsuo knew he still had a college fund. Still had a credit card in his name, a bank account his father put money in once a month, for when he was finally free. Maybe he'd take it, if it was from Fuyumi.
Iida Tenya
His brother had been upset that week. He'd come home early, corralling his parents into a meeting room and not leaving until they'd found a new costume supplier and a public statement beyond repute. He hadn't known why, not until the news story had broken that morning. Tenya had been lost, staring at the television until he was late for his train, only arriving to class minutes before the bell. He'd always wanted to be a hero. But - could he? Knowing what he knew now, about the organization he'd have to answer to?
Bakugo
His mother had screamed when she'd seen that footage of Deku, All Might carefully breaking the metal cuff around his throat. The nerd had only smiled weakly, like seeing All Might wasn't everything he'd ever wanted. He was so thin, his hands covered in small cuts, burns and blisters. He wanted to feel upset, that Deku had ruined his hero costume too - but. It was his fault. He was the one who told those fuckers Deku was quirkless, after auntie had so carefully not commited to putting anything down on paper. He and the idiots had trailed All Might once, before they knew that's who Yagi was. They'd seen the buildings, the lady with the collar. They'd put it out of their minds because they hadn't had a choice. No closure, just a creeping unease that would sneak up on them at night. Deku had been in one of those factories. Deku had been making the blast proof mesh on the palms of his gloves, the sweat wicking fabric of his winter costume, the thick tread of his combat boots. Katsuki stared up at the blank ceiling and tried not to think any more.

I need the commission to go down and everyone goes "Hawks is finally free 😔 he can be the person he always wanted to be", unfortunately the person he wants to be is a vulgar ass. Before when he would take villain's insults with a cheeky grin, he now responds in kind.
"All you fake heroes are going down to hell!"
"And you're going down to my fucking nuts!"
and tackles them out of the air. He's got 23 years of pent up aggression to get out and missed his teenage rebellion years. Now is the time.

Ranking MHA Arcs
Vs. Hero Killer Stain: A 9/10 arc. It had great tension, character development, character interaction, and villain. The friendship between Iida, Izuku, and Todoroki felt 10x more genuine than it ever did with Bakugou. The only thing I would change is maybe make Tensei not so virtuous. Maybe he made mistakes in the past or contributed to toxic hero society in some way. Perfect way to develop both Iida and Izuku
Shie Hassaikai: Again, just a great arc. Great villain and tension and love how the LOV are involved but aren't the current enemy. I love Mirio and his sacrifice for Eri was done perfectly, and him rejecting OFA made me love him even more. One of the only arcs where anyone cared about how Izuku was doing (love Iida and Todo forever). The only reason I'm putting it at #2 is Nighteye being a pretentious prick who pissed me off the whole time.
Battle Trial: One of the only arcs where Bakugou's actions aren't depicted as okay. Also calls out his behavior by making him lose because of it. Izuku's actions are recognized wholly, both what he did wrong and what he did right. Back when Momo was analytical and sharp. Also, evil Iida kills me every time. Just a pretty solid arc overall, good balance of tension and humor. There's only one thing I hate and it's that Izuku felt so guilty that he told Bakugou that he inherited his quirk
Meta Liberation: The only saving grace of season 5. The LOV was so well-written and Shigaraki's progression into a leader was so well done. I would have made it top three if it wasn't for Shigaraki's autonomy immediately being taken away by him wanting AFO. Kind of ruined the whole point of the arc
Entrance Exam: I had to make it top 5. It perfectly captures what made early MHA so great. It's so inspirational to everyone whose dreams have ever been discouraged. Some things could have been handled better which is why it isn't higher, but in general I love it
Sports Festival: I've talked about what I do and don't like about the Sports Festival before. There were a lot of good and bad things about it. Uraraka and Todoroki had great development, Izuku's and Tokoyamk's were okay, and Momo's was terrible. But what really keeps it out of the top 5 is the Bakugou pandering. It's the first arc that really starts to do this and it really ruins what could have been a really good arc
Hideout Raid: Again, the only reason this isn't higher is because it's so centered around Bakugou. If it wasn't just an arc pandering to him and his "development," it'd be a lot better. But I'm putting it at 7 because of the awesome fight between All Might and AFO. Easily one of the best in the series. And how that saved Bakugou was pretty damn cool ngl
UA School Festival: Gentle Criminal is tied for my favorite MHA villain with Stain. Not only is he relatable as fuck, his quirk is so unique. He was just so enjoyable. The festival was cute, though I felt as though this arc could have focused more on Eri's trauma. It's great that the festival was something for her to look forward to, but there could have been more done here. Also, Aizawa blaming his students for the other students being resentful and making them take accountability. Also, Bakugou being good at the drums for no reason
Paranormal Liberation War: As far as major arcs this one is okay. I feel like some parts of it were too drawn out, but it wasn't terrible. I liked Dabi exposing Endeavor, and Mirko chasing down Garaki like a bat out of hell was funny. Hawks' fight with Twice was also very impactful. BUT it also felt like a lot of the pros were useless. Like, Mount Lady struggling so much with Gigantomachia felt odd. She should have been more effective imo. I also wasn't a fan of how Midnight died in the manga, that felt unnecessarily brutal
USJ: This arc does a great job of introducing Shigaraki... And not much else. Like, I don't think it's bad at all, but it was a little boring. It does get points though for Tsu casually drowning Mineta, little moments like this make it watchable
Quirk Apprehension Test: The only reason this arc isn't lower is because of Izuku proving that he belongs at UA as much as anyone else. That was a great moment for him. But the QAT is quirkist and honestly just mean-spirited. Why would you humiliate a student in front of their classmates like that? Not to mention that Aizawa was blatantly singling him out with it. Just the beginning of Aizawa being a bad teacher
Provisional Hero License Exam: I struggled where to put this arc. Because honestly? It was good for the most part. I liked seeing how the kids each handled their tasks and opponents. Bakugou failed (I know I've said that this is undercut by Todo failing too, but it's still satisfying) and it really got into the nuances of rescue work. I liked it... Until Deku vs Kacchan Part 2. This fight ruins the entire arc for me. Bakugou fails because he couldn't stop being a dick for 2 seconds and decides he's allowed to take it out on Izuku? Then he trauma dumps on him while playing victim. And then coerces him into a fight. And then is rewarded from throwing this temper tantrum by being given what he wants (knowing about OFA). This was the arc where my feelings towards the series really soured. I really debated putting it at the bottom, but I didn't want to dismiss the good things about it so easily
Forest Training Camp: Only good thing about this arc was Izuku's fight with Muscular and his relationship with Kota. But after that it's Bakugou making bad decisions and everyone else having to suffer for them. I do appreciate Kota slapping Mineta though
Dark Hero: Just... So much potential. But it feels like we never really go below the surface with Izuku. This is supposed to be his arc and it barely focused on who he is. He should have spoken with the vestiges more. Also, while I can understand where they were coming from, 1A ambushing and then antagonizing him was terrible and Bakugou's bum ass apology was even worse. The only reason it isn't lower is because of my unhinged love for Lady Nagant. She's one of the best written characters in the series and I adore her. Unfortunately, it feels like Hori doesn't allow her to influence the overall story
Pro Hero: So this one is just... Weird. I mean, I don't think I hate it? The fight was pretty cool. I love seeing Hawks' quirk in action because his use of it is so creative. I don't like him and Rei being used to prop Endeavor's development though. I just don't think this arc was that good
Joint Training: So I mentioned this in a reply somewhere, but Bakugou's flawless win felt so unearned. He hasn't put any work into getting along with others and working with a team (all the "progress" he made was others- Izuku- doing the work for him). The fact that he didn't so much as struggle like everyone else was just bad writing. Momo losing even though she did put in the work to learn to strategize better and cover her bases just felt like a slap in the face to her character. Every time it feels like Hori wants to do right by her character, he ends up making it worse but had no problem propping Bakugou up every five minutes. I liked Uraraka being the unsung star of this arc, Monoma's team underestimating her and then living to regret it was nice. It's one of the only times the progress she's made as a hero is ever acknowledged. This arc didn't do a good job of making me care about Shinsou though, no substance to his character. Monoma was pretty entertaining
Endeavor Agency: Boring ass arc. It wasn't funny or entertaining and had zero character development for our main characters. Natsuo is antagonized for calling out Endeavor and poor Fuyumi gets yelled at by Bakugou in her own home for sharing her feelings. And then Izuku's bs "i tHiNk YOurE geTtINg REaDy tO fOrGiVE hiM." Like I love him but wtf is that line? Hori trying to force Endeavor's redemption down our throats
Final Exams: This arc is all kinds of bullshit. Sero takes a hit for Mineta and is incapacitated and fails. Yet Bakugou is continuously uncooperative, attacks him teammate, and is also incapacitated and passes? Not to mention it's all on Izuku to be the one to teach him how to work with others when that's supposed to be Aizawa's job. Every other match was also useless. The only one that has real development and interaction was Tododoki and Momo. Todo gets humbled and learns to stop acting above his classmates (even if he didn't do this with the intent of being harmful, he still did it) and Momo gets more confidence and agency. But no one else really learned anything or improved. This arc just proves how bad a teacher Aizawa is tbh
Remedial Course: I feel like this arc is evidence that Bakugou would suck as the main character. I was bored to tears during the entire thing. It felt like forced Bakugou and Todoroki interaction first of all. And truth be told I didn't know that kid was supposed to be mini Bakugou, I thought he was representative of Monoma. He was nowhere as bad as Bakugou was as a kid and felt a lot more chill. Also looked more like Monoma. Idk if this is how Hori wants us to see kid Bakugou or what but we know this isn't how he was. And then Bakugou gives him this whole lecture only to turn around the next arc and still treat Izuku like shit. Fucking hypocrite. Camie telling him to shut up was the only good thing about this arc (stan Camie)
And that's the list! I'm only doing these arcs because they're the only ones I've read/watched completely. I don't want to make judgements about the next three arcs without fully knowing what I'm talking about. Though the leaks for the Final War don't bode well for its ranking.
So what do we think? Agree? Disagree? Let me know!

This makes zero sense as an explanation and fighting robots was never a practical measure of judgment. The examinees could still be harmed even if the opponents were robots. It would be safer for everyone involved to have pro heroes serve as practical exam opponents because they can exercise normal human judgment about what is excessive force in a way a robot cannot. And even beyond that - UA has Recovery Girl. So what harm are they even talking about?

Some random kiritetsu ideas to keep the "they are the same" joke running because I find it funny
They accidentally end up wearing the same Halloween costume every year.
Sometimes, if they are working in the same city, they will patrol the same spots. (they are unaware that they are, they just think they run into each other a lot)
almost the exact same music taste. they just listen to different artists.
they probably both like lemonheads for some ungodly reason
they have almost the exact same dorm room decorations. also they have the same dorm numbers
They got the same rank on the Hero Billboard Chart since they had the same exact score. which is also the first time any two people have had the same rank,, like,,, ever.

All-Time Popularity poll ranking 1st-7th polls (Part 1 - Top 20)
I made an “all-time ranking table” based on the popularity polls held so far. The methodology is simple - every “rank” is worth a point. So 1st gets 50, 2nd 49... and so forth until 50th gets 1 point.
Tumblr media
We all know the Top 1, Top 3, Top 5 - so I was mostly curious of the evolution of the mid ranks. Here are the results:
Top 1-20
Tumblr media
So here are some interesting tidbits:
- 1-3 Bakugou-Deku-Todoroki trinity is very very stable, there has never been another character in the Top 3.
- 4-5 is a very tight race between Kirishima and Iida, with a slight edge to Kirishima. On the other hand Iida is the only other character than the Origin Trio who has always been in the Top 10 (Kirishima didn't make the first one)
-  Hawks follows them very closely as highest ranked Pro Hero. Also, he's the character with the highest entry point into the polls (4th place!). He's definitely a contender for all time Top 5 spot.
-  Aizawa is the highest ranked teacher (and only slipped out the top 10 once), while All Might's popularity has been fading somewhat, but he's still a stable Top 15 Character.
-  The 9th and 10th place goes to Ochako and Momo - Ochako peaked early, while Momo had a surge around the 4-5th polls. They are both very stable in the Top 20
- Kaminari's all-time popularity seems to be extremely enduring regardless of lack of content or character focus. He hovers at 11th place, always close to the Top 10.
-  Shigaraki Tomura is the highest ranked villain at 12. His popularity peaked at the 5th and 6th polls when he made Top 10.
-  Shinsou is the highest non-Class A student at 13. He made Top 10 twice despite the limited focus.
-  14-15 th is Jirou and Tsuyu. Jirou made Top 10 on the 2nd poll and has been stable Top 20. Tsu started strong, but her popularity have been declining.
4 of the 6 class A girls are all-time Top 20. Not bad.
-  Tokoyami's 16th place is also mostly due to his early popularity. He's the 7th boy from Class A in the all-time Top 20 and the 11th Class A student.
11/20 Class A kids are all-time Top 20.
-  17th is Present Mic who has been rising steadily in popularity. He made Top 10 on the 7th poll.
-  Endeavor's 18th place has been due to his low ranking on introduction. He made Top 10 on the 4th and 6th polls and has been a stable Top 15 for a while.
That makes 5 pro heroes in the Top 20.
19th place is Toga.
This makes two Top 20 villains.
- the WTF of the list is Yo Shindou, who is somehow at the 20th place. He’s also highest-ranked non-UA student.
Fun fact - if we include Rody Soul’s one-time Top 10 spot, he makes the list, and Shindou gets kicked off from 20th place. Also that makes Rody Soul the only Top 10 movie-only character.

Tenko and Touya who are classmates in the hero studies course yet never interact or acknowledge each other until they meet in the infirmary.
Tenko who's in and out of the U.A infirmary like a revolving door for getting into fights, both in and out of hero training. His quirk being what it is means he often has to get physical in one-on-one training matches, his skin cracks if he overdoes it in quirk training, and his peers have yet to learn that if you talk shit, you get hit. Hard.
And then there's Touya, who often rests on the infirmary beds for a number of reasons. Feeling ill, exhaustion, headaches, old scars acting up that day, skipping class-
And when Recovery Girl is not at the office one day, its Touya who ends up patching Tenko up. Touya whose hands are warm, maybe to be expected of someone with a fire quirk. But even with the searing hot fire hidden under his skin, they're gentler than you'd assume, careful of not making it hurt more. His fingers are long and slender, compared to Tenko's thicker, overall sturdier hands. His skin is rough and dry, knuckles prone to bleeding even without fist fights from how dry the skin is.
It sets a pattern, and soon enough Tenko starts going to Touya even when the other isn't at the infirmary. And because of it Touya starts carrying a first aid kit in his backpack.
And on days when Touya decides to sleep through lunch or skip class, Tenko starts sitting with him in the infirmary. Gives him one of the small, easy-to-carry snacks he always has on him when he's not queasy. But skipping class in the nurse's office is surprisingly hard when you're two and one is just there to keep the other company, so Tenko abuses his priviledge of having the principal as his legal guardian and takes him to the cushy principal's resting area with its soft couches ideal for napping and lazing about.
And if they're sometimes used for making out on, well that's no one's business but theirs.
