Bobbin Bobble - Mage in Training
Tumblr media
At long last, I have a fully lined and colored piece for her! So for folks that are new here, hi, this is Bobbin! She's my Kirby OC, and her story takes place in the worlds of both Kirby's Epic Yarn and Kirby Right Back At Ya, with a splash of other games getting intermingled in there.
I've been having so much fun crafting her and her story, and after taking some time to think about it, I've opted to open a sideblog for her and my Kirby shenanigans. You can find it here at @bobbins-patchland. I hope you'll consider joining me there for a little fun and storytelling!

Height differences are so funny sometimes. So, this weekend I had a number of conversations with friends about the heights of our OCs. A lot of us like to measure them by Kirbys, and Kirby is 8 inches tall (at least according to the anime and Smash Bros). Bobbin stands at about a Kirby and a half tall, so she's 12 inches tall, exactly 1 foot tall (or 30 centimeters if you use metric like most of the world xD). And this is a perfectly reasonable height to be in the Kirby universe!
But naturally, most of the OCs Bobbin has befriended are significantly larger than her, and I think that's funny as heck. XD I keep saying she's gonna get a complex. I think, the greatest example is my friend @rosiegardenlove 's boy Shade Knight. Shade here is very tall, but he's closer to Kirby sized in drone form. So, Shade is the first person Bobbin met in the Nexus, and he was a drone when that happened. After using some of her chaining magic to give him her energy to reform, he's standing here as this massive knight in shining armor, and given she is a huge knight fangirl, this is, just so funny looking back on it. XD I guess her magic does come off as a lot more impressive when you look at the difference here. I just had to draw it. XD Might be the best I've ever drawn Shade.

finally someone else in the hair tie poll who said go-go. Bobbin seems rare but go-go was nonexistent
I was surprised to see so many people saying "bobble" and then had a minor panic that I've been simply mishearing it my entire life which would be embarrassing. I feel like "go-go" is a distinctly Irish term which is nice.

To do beautiful ornamental stitching, use no. 30 crochet cotton in the color or colors you wish. Thread your sewing machine with crochet cotton just as you would with any other thread.
Mary Brooks Picken went on to write that you can use a size 14 or 16 needle to do this and then crochet cotton in the bobble too. Having used narrow silk ribbon in the bobbin case, I knew something similar was possible, but this is not one I have tried. I am eager to buy some crochet cotton thread to try this as the accompanying images are inspiring. Obviously, some testing of needle size, stitch length, and tension would be needed, but it seems worth the experiment.
Picken offered various pictures of flared collars with multiple rows of stitching decorating their edges and a more tailored dress with multiple rows of stitching on the trim collar, down the front placket, on the belt, etc. In an era when women’s wardrobes were smaller than ours and each piece was to have something special to recommend it, decorative embellishment was one way to ensure this.
This comes from Modern Dressmaking Made Easy from 1940 which has several sections on decorative trims, or ornamental stitching, and how to use them as well as some dated material on how to be properly fitted for a girdle. Definitely worth keeping an eye out for adding to your collection.

Let’s talk merch.
More specifically, Rise of the TMNT merch ideas.
You know what would be really awesome? Plushies. Like actually good looking plushies. You can not forget to have Donnies thick drawn on eyebrows, they are a part of him. But it would be nice to have those right? Imagine being able to hug a Raph plushie! SHELLDON and Mayhem too! Those would be cute!~ How about a chibi Draxum? I would die for that!
Another idea, figurines that are like Nendoroid. Where you can pose them, swap out faces and accessories. I’m sure a lot of people would love to collect all the characters and set them up. A figurine of Donnies bust would be awesome too! You could even make them into cups.
Clothing. Give us shirts, socks, hoodies/sweaters with cool designs. Make funny ones like the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Squirtles” ones. An actual replica of Donnies hoodie would be awesome! Purple dragons hoodies and jackets! That’d be cool!
Blankets, pillow sets. Give us stuff to keep warm, snuggled in with our favorite characters. I know this would probably never be a thing, but something I think would be super unique is weighted blankets. Seems like the characters show signs of anxiety, and other things, that weighted blankets could be like a personal merch thing. Have it designed in turtle fun colors and whatnot.
Backpacks, get that “back to school” merch to represent turtle power! Notebooks, sketchbooks, pencils, pencil sharpeners. Have a Mikey head sharpener where you can sharpen between the gap of his teeth or something, I don’t know.
Bobble heads, just to watch Donnie or Leo bobbin their heads to music like that What is Love car scene, you know the one right? Let Donnie dance!
Jupiter Jim comics, can even add the turtles in chapters reacting to the storyline or snippets they could have written in. Squabbling together over scenes. Give us more books and comics!
Music. Release the soundtrack, we love the music! I can’t tell you how many times I rewinded while watching an episode just to listen to the background music!
Toys. Play sets of the lair. Actual good figures of the characters. Stop forgetting Donnies eyebrows, it’s a crime! Pay attention to how their designs are, because your audience definitely are and notice when they look off. Interactable toys where the turtles talk to each other depending on who you have. Include the bad guys too. Would love seeing what Warren Stone would say to a Hypno!
Hamato/Foot clan representations. In clothing, toys, whatever. Have their symbols included, have people collect and WANT to collect all of them.
Just give us stuff, give us a chance to get things we would love. Because we want merchandise, we really do. It’s hard to do that though when you can’t find anything, and the things you do find (rarely) don’t work or are incorrect in their designs.

Best Vape (right now)
In terms of scale, price, pod costs etc, we assume that the SMOK Novo 2 is the perfect way of achieving this.
Novo 2 is compact and compact, the battery lasts long and loads easy, and even through the viewing window, you can check the vapour juice level. Replacement pods are super economical and look fantastic. Simply put, it fits well in both respects, so we mentioned it first. It's a drawn-up mist that makes it super easy to use. Only take it up and steam it. The clouds you get from too little vapor are fantastic, the taste is outstanding and you'll never look back until you've begun using a Novo 2.
We sell as many of them as possible, and the writer vaporizes one as he writes. We love it, our clients love it and you're going to love it if you have it too.
Check out the word cloud below that we built from the SMOK Novo 2 customer feedback. You can see that the most used are 'heart,' 'love,' and 'perfect.' Says it all. Read information about ΗΛΕΚΤΡΟΝΙΚΟ ΤΣΙΓΑΡΟ ΑΘΗΝΑ ΕΛΛΑΔΑ.
Is it a pod or a vapor pen? Yeah, it's both really. A hunter in Caliburn. We added this as the best vapor pen since its versatility just can't be matched. Most pod systems have no flexible airflow, but the Xros is highly efficient. Regardless of if you want to sape the 1.2 Ohm MTL pod for solid salt or normal steam juice for the 0.8 Ohm direct lung, you can quickly dial in the optimal airflow. The only change that may be needed is how to position it if you use the fire button, so the airflow with your finger is easy to obstruct.
The airflow control switch has three slots, the air flows to and from the base of the capsule. Vape juice power is just 2mL, but it doesn't matter, because the display window reveals how much juice remains. Moreover, you should not have to cut the pod when the top cap emerges to expose the slots. This eliminates any possible harm to the mod, which we encountered for a long period of time with an SMOK Novo 2. Pods will last up to a week depending on how cheap you are to replace Vaporesso Xros Pods.
Tumblr media
Pods are simpler to fill than the Novo 2 and are less likely to leak due to the top fill mechanism. Since you don't have to adjust the coils of the Vaporesso Xros, others can mobilize against the pod vape and pod mod movement, but the simplification means that it is here to remain.
When fully charged, you should have enough charge to last the day with a generous 800mAh battery. If you need to reload, it takes just about an hour to charge easily using 1A Type-C USB.
The Novo 2 is the best overall pod vapor, but the Xros is a close second. Thanks to its steam pen shape factor, excellent look and results, we don't hesitate now to call it the best steam pen.
Vaporesso Gen is one of the best mods ever made. Neither do you have to take our word, just read all the super happy reviews. And don't patch it if it's not fixed. So Vaporesso did not use the Gen S system. The initial mod (minor firmware upgrade excluded) was exactly the same for the current NRG-S tank. An incredible steam tank with a rolling nature that allows a refilling and a breeze adjustment.
The 8mL power of Vaporesso NRG-S is adequate to last the day. It uses GT bobbins and in the box you get two. The key explanation, though is that the GT Coil options are the best box mod package right now. One of the most beloved bobbles in the industry, you will test 9 bobbins in the NRG-S tank. We were fortunate enough to be shipped a trial pack with and spindle and we could show that you have a great spindle for your design or vapor preferences.
And if you already have a tank you enjoy, you can not only buy the mod but buy this kit to save money. We are sure you're going to love to vap the NRG-S. Its 30ml diameter suits well to the Vaporesso Gen-S and the colors you pick are outstanding. There are 6 solid colors and six splendid two-tone finishes, all with the bronze button signature.
You get a lot of modes, check the specifics on the product page of the Gen S Kit and the user interface is one of the simplest to use in the industry. Clearly shown on an OLED screen of 0.91 inch.
Last but not least, the bar is the most striking thing about Gen S. The rubber coating must be seen. Not only free fingerprint is evidence of wear and grippy. It's wonderful to look at and to keep it even better. And when double 18650 batteries are inserted, one of the lightest modes. If you just like lightness, try out the Vaporesso Gen X, basically the same appliance but machined from one piece of aluminum.
If you haven't guessed it yet we just love the Vaporesso Gen S tank with its NRG-S, the best mod tank combination you can buy right now.
When you order it and if you like a box mod kit, come back and tell us what you about it.

Laundries used up my pre nap spoons and I didn’t wale up with any. Because if I just wait for someone else to remember that I asked them to help me do my laundry...
The cats’ blanket was the source of most of the smell in here. It had been awhile since it was changed.
I looked at and made it easier to reach my lace bobbins for an activity. If you’re a string stimmer and/or like twisting things basic stitches and grounds in bobbin lace are easy to do and it’s friendly to experimentation. It’s also good for people who like peaceful pattern and repetition.
You can totally try it with friendship bracelet string and strait pins, it’s easier to start with thicker threads and you work down to finer ones as your skills kick in. Doll pins or regular clothes pins make simple bobbins.
What I am hoping for is the ability to do some tiny crochet, especially now that I have a magnifying glass with a light. All those size 20 threads will still become a size 20 crocheted barbie and friend(s) to wear size 20 versions of those calendar doll dresses. Still half miffed my tiny ball jointed doll can’t fit them but that just ups the challenge to make patterns for her.
But a soft doll with soft clothes to travel around is an attractive idea and I won’t chop a finger dressing her.
Speaking of dolls I think I’m going to post my Moxie Teenz up for trade, must be a 12cm range tiny, Dollkot fairy, Dollzone 22cm, something like that. Heading for the board first but if someone here has the goods I shall consider.
Half thinking about trading off the handful of original Jem and the Hologram and the spare Darci too.
Half thinking of doing one more cull of the scrapbook stuff and parting with that. As I have some theme books and matching papers I’ll need money or good trades for some of that, but it’s deep enough in the closet that it won’t be happening soon. I need a drawer full of spoons to tend to that part.
One batch of kitty bitties is entering their bobble head stage and soon they’ll be at the drunk stage trying to bonk each other and not fall over. Peak of cuteness follows.

Husband, join me in bobbin lace land 👀 you know you want to. Or you tatt and I’ll... bobble? What is the appropriate verb lol anyway you do one and I’ll do the other and we can send each other samples!
Tumblr media
An experiment. I don’t have spangles and I thought it would be fun to paint my bobbins in pairs instead. This is my test. In case the paint just rubs off (despite the sealant I am gonna add to it) and to see of there is any point in painting a few more. I have 48 bobbins now, I probably won’t paint them all though (granted that this works).
These ones were inspires by Polish pottery!

So instead of my flying back to England, me an mum went to a uhhh textile museum in la bastide, up the road, which was pretty cool There was a temporary exhibition which was uh all like clothes off of productions of plays and a bit about this one opera singer type probably, Henriette smth-italian-sounding, and this other one, Emma smth-else-italian-sounding, photographs and the music from Carmen (or, a song called Carmen? Idk, sheet music anyway), a video of Henriette whatserface in 1896 playing someone from Hamlet whose name I forgot. Sword fighting in it. And theeeen there was like a guided tour thing, of all the machinery Cs the museum building used to be a uh what's the word fabric, fabric smth. Textile smth? They made massive rolls of fabric anyway, for fuckin aaages up til at least the 40s The machinery was all really interesting, except the tour was all in French like so I hadn't any idea what was about, except what I know about making fabric myself - the humongous carding machines, and the weird mangle thing they felt the fabric up with to make it nice at the end, and some of the dying things (add pressure and the dye comes even, apparently) and the thread spinning machines, and the thing that spun the thread in figure-eights off the bobbin to make it into a real ball of wool, aaaand there was this thing from 1850 what spun a load of bobbins of thread around one central one like a maypole, to make really really strong rope like for sailing and for shoelaces an stuff, that was good to watch And then, the place it only worked with sheep wool itself, but they had bits of different fleece there to look at, was camel fleece! And bamboo, and smth called oh bugger ive forgotten but it was a plant made fibre which was really soft an nice an I Said I'd remember pfft, and nettles like they use in Japan and hemp fibre and uhhh plastic bottles what're made fibre recycled, and alpaca, which the people were like oh cool wow when mum said she had alpacas and like And! Silk worms! Not actually doing anything, but the cocoons there, which it's dead weird how you can just take from the cocoon and spin, seems like! And if you rattle them, you can hear, the silk worm inside, they wrap themselves up in it and then well they die but idk why or how, but they rattle, s'weird Uhhhh Oh yeh an the tour lady she put the machines on for us so we could see, like first dead slow so you can tell what it's about, and then at like normal speed, which is fast as fuck Which was cool And really really loud And the end was the big loom thing, which mum had been translating for me the tour lady cs I can't really understand much French at all, terrible, um but the loom thing, mum couldn't understand that bit so much either, and it was all the machinery seems the wrong way round from how a hand loom is, it ws all a bit odd and neither of us were sure what was about, not that I had then best clue in the first place Ah no but it was in order of the process tho, so, all the spinny thread machines, then the dying stuff, then more spinny thread machines, then the different bits of the loom apparatus, theeen all the washing and fluffing up and the teasle machine thing, which there was an old 19th century one what actually had teazles steada like metal spikes to do the teasing like, to fluff the fabric up to felt it (teazles are like thistles, basicly, spiney things what to fluff wool or fabric up with the oldfashioned way), and then this big iron thing to make the fabric dressing-gown-fluffy, and a machine to take the bobbles off, and sewing machines from the 1950s on big like built into a stand so you stand up to use them Aaaand prolly maybe other stuff I forgot idk It was pretty good tho, even tho my French is godawful you wouldn't believe Oh and not on the tour, there was knitting machines, and knitting-in-the-round machines aaaand I can't remember A bunch of 1980s wool clothes stood in cases on mannequins I want to learn how to do drop-spindling or however you say. That other way of spinning wos not a wheel. Cs that seems cool They didn't have any in the little museum shop tho So that was cool
