911 season 7 episode 3!!!
fjkdf i love when we get a little montage to introduce minor characters in the episode, and i love when that's fun, and i think this family is fun (corey!), but they really got me when the grandmother went "we need to get to the lifeboats. i want a good seat!"
the thing about 911 is. the thing about 911 is that at some point i WILL end up crying a little from the stress of the awful terrible horrible situations these fictional characters end up in
Tumblr media
"dead men don't bleed." bobby throwing out a banger of a revenge western title
"what are you all doing! on the ceiling!!!" that's a VERY good question, norman.
i'm, let's say, a little skeptical of the real world feasability of this rope and climbing rescue plan bobby is executing, but i do love when 911 goes hey! what the fuck! enjoy some action movie shenanigans!
"wish buck could have seen you do that." "honestly, i would have much rather seen buck do that." <3
love the way maddie is trying to have a phone conversation with chim but buck and eddie keep half joining in, like kids in the back seat of the car only catching half the conversation between their parents.
"so who's missing, bobby and athena or hen?" "yes." one of those lines that's extremely obviously something the writers set up for themselves, but i can't fault them for it, because i will admit i do like a corny overused joke.
"how are you feeling?" "like my world's been turned upside-down." man, this is a guy who knows how to milk his situation for fitting witty comments. first the whole gambling thing, now this.
"hen, where are you?" oh, she's just doing illegal paperwork. <3
Tumblr media
dear god. so far, counting the communications officer who died last episode, this is turning out to be a survivable emergency unless you're a black man.
OH. OKAY.
Tumblr media
so this is where tommy shows up!!
"could be why i haven't been getting your christmas cards." fdjkfd.
i felt like i'd probably seen every scene with tommy in it giffed ten different ways by now, but i did NOT see much of this, or realize that this is how he came back into the picture. good for him. he's immediately making up for past bad behavior by randomly having hen's back.
oh, of course. not random!! it's family, doing ill-advised heroic things that should get them fired togetherrrr. <3
Tumblr media
"oh, i think this is an open channel." "do you, buck? do you really?" fjkdfd.
awwww. the 118: WHO CARES. 💪
always a fun time when the guy behind the controls of the helicopter says you're probably all going to die anyway!
lola: "i've never been with another man." norman: "neither have i!" ?? evan buckley, SECOND bi character this season
mr. doctor stepping up!! love that for him!!
"well, unless you feel like swimming back, that's all we've got." i do love this personality they've given tommy!
also, i realize tommy's last name is kinard, which has entirely different origins, but i keep hearing canard, as in french for duck, which would be kind of funny for a man flying over water.
tommy being stupidly willing to go along with the 118's stupid let's-just-maybe-all-die-here-for-hen's-hunch plan! i adore that this is how we're introduced to him again, it's so good, hard not to immediately love him.
guy who's been very rightfully and realistically skeptical of their chances of survival from the start: "but there's nothing out there." [helicopter noises] < continuing the tradition of characters with a normal reasonable view of the world being smugly proven wrong on this show, fjdkfd.
the thank you for choosing oceanis blue last words, oh my god. very goofy.
"i'm not supposed to go with strangers." corey, i love you.
"what are we gonna do?" "we're gonna keep trying." damn if that isn't bobby coming up with a way better line than buck's off the top of his head. the 118: we're gonna keep trying.
fjdkfd sorry but if you're bobby trying to rescue a little kid and the door above you closes up and you can't get it open and the water keeps rising and you're about to drown (again), and then the door DOES suddenly pop open and buck and eddie in full gear are grinning down at you when there's supposed to be absolutely ZERO chance of them even being on this sinking ship in the middle of the ocean in a hurricane to begin with, i think that maybe, for at least a quick second there, you might think that this time you finally did die.
ohoho! see this, of course, i did see giffed.
Tumblr media
hen thanking maddie is good. bobby calling hen captain is great. bobby and athena getting back home and taking their fast food into the bedroom is lovely. love when there's at least a little time to wind down from the episode. <3

Don’t Blink Chapter 2 (John x Reader)
Tumblr media
Title: Don’t Blink Chapter 2
Summary:  When (Y/n) takes a simple haunting case on her own, she gets in way over her head. Being transported to the past, she falls in love with a young marine with a killer smile. The only problem is she knows his sons and his girlfriend wants to kill her, and probably knows about twenty ways to do so.
Warnings: Language maybe, divergence from John and Mary’s relationship?
AN:  "Present" in this series takes place in like season 5. And this is going to be a lot more AU than just John and Mary's ages.
1970
The rain was falling in sheets as a car pulled up to a phone booth on the sidewalk outside of the Lawrence Pharmacy. The pale yellow Plymouth was on its last leg, but the driver was babying it. The driver got out, grumbling swear words about the rain and unreliable telephone service. He got into the phone booth and shook his wet hair.
“Of all days, why do we have to be fighting today?” He asked himself as he dug his change from his pocket and pushed it into the machine. He dialed the number and waited.
 “Hello?” A woman answered.
“Hi Mrs. Campbell. Is Mary home?”
“John? Is that you?” Mrs. Campbell asked. John could tell from the sound of her voice that Mary wasn’t home.
“Yeah.” He sighed, looking at the raindrops hitting the glass hard.
“I’m afraid Mary went out with some friends.” Mrs. Campbell explained. John closed his eyes and rested his head against the glass. He and Mary had been fighting a lot here recently, her calling him out on a girl that he flirted with a lot and him coming back on how she still would go out for drinks with her ex-boyfriend.
“Did she say when she would get back?” John asked. But he knew.
“No. Sorry John. Just try calling her in the morning.” John sighed and nodded, even though the woman on the other end couldn’t hear him.
“Okay. Thank you.” He hung up after a minute but stayed standing in the phone booth, watching the rain. Lightning lit up the sky. Thunder shook the glass. And John was just lost. Part of him wondered why he stayed with Mary Campbell, while the other part of him was madly in love with her. He sighed and left the phone booth. It wasn’t raining as much as he made his way to the Plymouth.
“Damn it Mary!” He growled when he got in the car. He hit the steering wheel a couple times before he calmed himself down. He knew she had went out with Walt, so he was half tempted to go out with Candice. But he wasn’t going to stoop that low. He had a six pack of beer at home that needed to be dipped in to and a pizza place he hadn’t ordered from in a while.
Starting the car, he made his way down Main Street. He stopped at a stoplight and waited for it to turn green. There were only one of two other cars out at the moment. He wouldn’t have been out either if the phones didn’t go out every time there was a sprinkle. He had a job that paid decent money, he didn’t want the phones to go out all the time.
He had just passed through the intersection when the immediate area lit up bright. He hit his breaks and shielded his eyes from the bright light. The only thing he could think of was that this was a nuclear blast and he was as good as dead. But there was no boom or heat like that damn turtle would talk about. John looked around. It was still dark, it was still raining. Nothing seemed to be out of place.
Except for the woman lying on the wet road in front of his car.
“What the hell?” John asked himself as he climbed out of the car. “Hey!” He ran over to the woman. “Hey, are you okay?” He gently shook her, only receiving a groan. “Hey lady, can you hear me?”
Her eyes fluttered open then and locked with his. For a second, he almost forgot to breathe. He knew it sounded cliché, like one of those novels his mother would read when she got home from work, but it was true. There was something about this girl that did something to him. He just wasn’t sure what. But then he noticed the cut on her head and the scrapes on her arms.
“W-where am I?” She asked weakly, shivering from the rain. John went back to the car and grabbed his leather jacket, wrapping it around her carefully.
“Easy.” He said. “We need to get you to the hospital. University is just over there…”
“No!” She called out, trying to sit up but groaning in pain. “No hospital!” John raised his hands up.
“Okay, okay. No hospital.” He said. She was starting to close her eyes again. “Hey! Don’t go to sleep on me. I don’t even know your name.” John said.
“(Y/n).” She said softly before falling asleep again. John sighed and scooped her up.
“No hospital. Guess I have to take you back to my place.” He carried her and placed her in the back of his car. “I hope you’re not like a Norman Bates person.” He got into the driver seat and took off back to his place.
 ****
 Present
Dean and Sam walked back into Bobby’s after chasing down an empty lead. He was wheeling around, doing some research and making some calls. He barely acknowledge the boys, who had been gone for about two weeks. Dean looked over at Sam.
“Glad to see we were missed.” He said. “Let’s go get (Y/n) and grab a beer.”
“She’s not here.” Bobby threw over his shoulder at them.
“Well, where is she?” Sam asked. Bobby shrugged.
“She went out on a simple haunting about a week ago and disappeared.” Bobby said. “I tracked her phone down to the town she was hunting in, but that’s it. No answers on the calls or texts, nothing. Not even a credit card trail. I’m making some calls to see if I can get someone out there to look.”
“Where was she hunting?” Dean asked, all thoughts of relaxing gone out the window. He was sure that the angels were using her as a pawn. They had to be.
“Marshall, Minnesota.” Bobby told them. “If you’re heading out there and you find her, kick her ass for making me worry.” Sam grabbed up his bag that he had tossed down. There were more important things right now.
“You got it Bobby.” Dean said, turning on his heel and walking out. (Y/n) had stuck by him and Sam for better or worse. And if she was missing and the angels were using dick moves to get them to play ball, then there would be hell to pay.
But Sam had this strange feeling in his gut that something bigger was going on than just the angels being assholes.

IT HAS BEEN about a year now since my involvement with the Dozier School For Boys began taking over my world. Kicking off the whirlwind was my need to get my hands on the school’s student ledgers. I won’t rehash the entire adventure but what I will say is that it took many frustrating nights online, several emails to the Archivist, the potential of an $600+ bill to get digital copies & finally an 8 hour round trip before I’d actually have what I wanted…Well at least a quarter of what I wanted!
HAVING ABSOLUTELY NO clue what I was looking for, I spent the next several weeks trying to organize what I had. Almost immediately number of very distinct patterns began jumping out at me. The same sentencing judges over & over again, the SAME sentence length OR lack there of & a crap load of blank spaces; Specifically under the “WHEN/HOW RELEASED” columns. One would expect that any institution handling children would be required to keep detailed & accurate records of ALL of its charges, especially when it comes to their last known whereabouts BUT that would make too much sense, now wouldn’t it…
THE INFO THAT I had gotten was only from the latest volume of the ledgers & didn’t even make a dent in the number of boys that had been shoved through the doors to be reformed. I knew there were hundreds OR even thousands of names in those books. I maybe had a few hundred at the most. By now, I had gotten used to what I like to call the “Hurry Up & Stop” method of researching. Basically I’d need specific info, finally get said info ONLY to start looking it over & promptly figure out that I needed additional material OR even worse, I’d need something entirely different altogether. In this case, I had just assumed that I’d eventually be making another trip to the Archives; That is until I ended up becoming involved with Bob Straley & taking over his website…And right there on one of the site pages was a link to the detailed, handwritten notes that WHB Mr. Andrew Puel had spent hours putting together.
Mr. Andrew Puel At The State Archives…Sitting In The EXACT Same Spot That I Did When I Was There!
      NOT IT!!
WHEN I SAW that link, I was beyond thrilled! I was finally going to have something reliable to validate what I had come up with! I had spoken with Andrew at Bob Straley’s memorial service & knew that any research he had done would be the best & most accurate info that I could possibly get. When the page loaded, it definitely did NOT show what I had been hoping for; In all actuality, it showed nothing but this:
ODDLY THE INFO was missing! I started clicking on some of the other older links on the website & sure enough, there were quite a few that led to nowhere. I don’t know why it gone OR where it went, only that it’s not there. I tried not to get to aggravated, thinking that there had to be a hard copy among the thousands of documents that I have. I spent the next several weeks going through EVERY page, folder, digital file, etc. & found nothing. Bob kept everything, so to say I was puzzled that he wouldn’t have a copy of something so important was a huge understatement. I did another look through, literally taking out every piece of paper, one by one; Still nothing.
  Well Damn….
    AN EVENING IN GAINESVILLE
ON A FRIDAY in late February, I made the 3 hour trip to Gaineville. With me was a small black bag filled with what I believed to be the most important material related to the Arthur G Dozier School for Boys. I pulled up to a beautiful home, tucked back in a quiet sub division that was surrounded by forest. Standing outside was a familiar face, Mr. Bryant Middleton. The “Whitehouse Boy” greeted me with a smile & a brief hug before inviting me inside to meet his wife. Both graciously spent several hours telling their personal story of Dozier & how the WHB’s Organization was founded. They were both lovely people & I was grateful that they had been so willing to meet with me & be as open as they were. When we finally moved into the dining room to look over the things that I had brought, I began pulling things out. I yanked a folder out that had been wedged inside of my over full bag & a stack of papers fell out. The stack was stapled together & folded in half. I picked it up to see what it was & as I unfolded it, my jaw hit the floor!
OH…MY…GOD…It was a hard copy of the list of missing boys! The same list that I had just spent weeks trying to find! The stuff inside of that bag was the stuff that I pulled out & reviewed quite frequently & there’s absolutely NO way that I would missed that thick stack of ledger pages! I slid the stack across the table, explaining to Bryant why I was a bit stunned at finding them. He thought it was strange as well. I’m not going to get into the specifics of my time with the Middletons in this post, although I will say that I’m very fortunate to have met with them. They’re great people & they continue to work toward keeping the future from repeating the past.
    WHERE COULD THEY BE?
OF COURSE THERE is minimal info on the boys on this list. What is known is that most were listed as escaped but never recovered. A lot lacked permanent homes OR guardians, so there wouldn’t have been any concerned parents wondering about the whereabouts of their lost boy. It should also be noted that the last place they were seen was the Dozier School for Boys in Marianna. That leaves so many unanswered questions; Could ALL 185 boys on that list have actually successfully escaped & moved on to a better life? Even if that did happen, would it be possible that NOT 1 single child ever be heard from again? I suppose it could be possible for some BUT for All 185? I seriously have my doubts & given the history of Dozier, I’d say that’s highly unlikely. Especially considering the significant proof of other burial sites on the school’s 1200+ acres.Whether or not they continued life after Dozier OR their lives were taken at the school, they each deserve to be recognized. I’ll let them speak for themselves….
