general explanation since i don't know how deep into rt you were/are:

trocadero is a band that has made many of red vs blue's most iconic songs throughout the show's duration, including "blood gulch blues", "agent tex", and "contact". with blood gulch blues in particular, that song was what trocadero sent to the creators of the show, which eventually ended up being the official theme of rvb's first 5 seasons

the reason why people are mad at rt This time around is because of this tweet trocadero's official twitter put out earlier today in regards to rvb's last season:

i don't think it's hard to argue that trocadero is one of many things integral to rvb's whole identity and why people fell in love with the show to begin with. with the bonus knowledge of the people who are part of a big staple of the show starting out as fans themselves, i fear that this continues the whole trend of rooster teeth like... i don't know how to describe it, really. i guess it's like they're making some real boneheaded decisions that negatively affect their reputation with the fans that have kept them relevant for so long, i guess lol

So I know a lot of people were in despair over GH winning Best Drama because they saw it as confirmation that nothing would change, and you all could be right, but ngl I thought this was a very interesting tweet in the aftermath of that:

Uh, this is a very atypical "yay our show just won the biggest award of the night!" tweet. This is also the first time I've seen any type of acknowledgment from any of TPTB at GH that the show is in free fall, and serious changes need to be made. I mean, there's some contradiction in the whole "fans sticking with us" and "lapsed viewers" thing back to back, but I digress.

Now, I don't know how they're going to accomplish this goal of "winning back" viewers with the EP they have, he seems to have a serious animosity for the audience when they don't go along with the agendas he wants, and punishes said audiences by sabotaging the few things they enjoy.

I mean, I think it's fair to say that the deliberate momentum killing of post-Greenland Sprina in favor of trying to sell the audience on Amnesia Esme for an entire summer was a massive contributor in the viewership decline they have yet to recover from. A spiteful and boneheaded move. If GH were completely hopeless, you wouldn't see as much frustration from viewers as you do.

There is no reason that a show that starts the year off with winning Feb Sweeps should end it dead last in the ratings practically begging the audience for their investment/trust again. That's a serious mismanagement issue. All regimes of GH have always had their preferred agendas.

It's nothing new, but there was always a bare minimum recognition that solid storytelling had to be prioritized at the end of the day. That they had to convince the audience to go on the journey with them and if they did, great, and if they didn't, time to pivot.

This current regime exists under a delusion that they can browbeat or "punish" the audience into tolerating something they've vocalized disinterest in because "audience loyalty". Sorry, but "blind audience loyalty" is not a serious/realistic strategy in the era of streaming/overwhelming content choices.

Especially when none of the plots being set up are "must see tv" because the desire to coddle certain characters is overtaking any dramatic storytelling that could occur.

Writing toward what is working and taking advantage of every moment of excitement/buzz for as long as you can, is the only way for GH to hope to have a future. Hopefully, the sentiment behind this tweet is serious, and 2024 is a reality check year for GH cause more of the same is going to mean the end of GH.

I wonder why Bonehead is speaking more positively about Noel and even tweeted about an auction full of Noel stuff a few days ago, it makes me think he wouldn't do it if Liam had an issue with it

Yep, Bonehead popping up with positive vibes about Noel, cousins hanging out. It does point towards them not being enemies at the very least. The viciousness has gone. There's breathing space. They want to reconcile. Have they? I don't think they did in the past year, but they might be in the process of reconciling now. Hopefully!

Two things collapsing together in my mind today:

* Saw some news outlet tweet about an actor who murdered his mother in advance of a planned mass shooting. The actor is not a household name, and so they identified him by a recent role on Riverdale, and somebody anxiously, instantly replied, "FWIW he was only on Riverdale once," as if that were the most important part of the story.

* I'm watching this stupid movie that figures Edgar Allan Poe as a hunky, noble young soldier who courageously solves a mystery that very tangentially references the idea of a "raven". I don't generally object to creative appropriations of classic stories or persons, but it's awkward when all of the second-string characters--haunted, anemic, traumatized ghosts of themselves--more resemble Poe than this boneheaded Ken doll they put in the lead role.

It's crazy how corrupting the whole fandom phenomenon is. On the one hand, you can report a brutal murder and a narrowly-averted mass tragedy, and you get people rushing to the aid of Riverdale, and not the human beings who are, or were almost affected. On the other hand, you have famous characters and stories with a certain valuable legacy, and people will happily strip them of all of their uniqueness until they're just bland, anonymous porn parodies of themselves. This is so bad for culture, it's bad for how we relate to each other and how we relate to art and history. And this is the least important thing but you can't even use the word "fan" anymore and be assured that people will know what you mean. It's just like how we lost the word "nerd"--which used to indicate a certain kind of social reject who is academically advanced and almost rebelliously uncool--when it got taken over by anti-intellectual adult babies who can only get it up for comics and Star Trek and shit when it is converted into a big budget, live action thirst trap. I used to be able to describe myself as a "horror fan" and be understood without too many qualifiers; now I'm afraid to, lest somebody think I mean I that I like to imagine all my favorite villains with smokin' hot non-cadaverous bodies, cuddling and sharing an ice cream float with me, and generally acting like the cast of Saved By the Bell instead of, you know, scaring the shit out of me like the terrifying freaks they're supposed to be. Meanwhile I'm anxiously awaiting the day fandom turns up in the DSM; somebody has to be studying this shit.

Oh yeah, all of this is 100% true. It's forgotten about a lot because Paige isn't that well known, but this is what she said on Twitter to disrespect Kai, her former teammate who exposed the abuse by Burke. None of her teammates had reached out to Kai after, which is why it would be awkward to see them again. Then after that she decided to follow it up with some good old mocking of gender neutral pronouns.

Btw, the right wing fetus was also a part of this exchange.

Then there is also the Tweet and article about the Spirit trip to Qatar where they told young girls that if they just try hard enough they can change their circumstance. Let's repeat that. They told young girls living under a very oppressive regime that hard work is what will set them free. You know, the kind of hard word that killed thousands of people building those damn stadiums. Not to mention that they told these girls (aged 12 and under from what i saw) that they should speak up about injustice. They told pre-teen girls who will be killed without question for speaking their minds to just speak out because that is what will help them. That is all before even pointing out the disgusting fact that they promoted the organization of the world cup.

In short, she seems like an incredibly ignorant white woman who happens to be gay. The gay part isn't a reason to be lenient towards her blatant ignorance.

The fact that even if they delete their blog I still get to see when someone makes a boneheaded comment and the reblogs then rip them to shreds on tumblr vs twitter erasing the og tweet when they deactivate/delete proves that tumblr is the better site once again. Please let me understand the full context of the drama that I would never want to be involved in.

I do too, but Blake is such a loyal guy. That, and I’m sure he’s willing to overlook a dumb statement because he understands what it’s like to put your foot in your mouth when you’re being interviewed. He went through so much crap himself with that “old farts” comment that he made, so he appreciates the power of forgiving and forgetting. It’s possible that Neal even reached out to Blake and said “hey, I made a bonehead comment in an interview and I’m really sorry about it”, who knows. I’m still holding a grudge against Neal though.
