*These are a few of my favorites things: coloring books with colored pencils, a plant in a panda styled vessels ( you don't know how hard to was to rhyme pencils 😅), elephant pants and a flowy blouse are just some things that I can't do without. I love your story so much. Literally what I accept as canon now. It's so wonderfully written. The story is captivating from the first chapter, and it only continues to drag you further in as you grow to love these characters you thought you knew so well. All the character's personalities are so complex, I feel like I know them better than I know some of my closest friends. Thank you for writing this masterpiece!

We had the great pleasure of working with the phenomenal, illustrator/visual artist Jerry Pinkney. We worked on developing a musical performance entitled, The Sound Of Progress: Songs For John Henry which was inspired by Pinkney's powerful illustrations for the book, John Henry. We also were fortunate to work with Jerry Pinkney again on our book, Philadelphia Jazz Stories Illustrated: Volume One. He graced us with a beautiful, time-spanning, mixed-media painting of legendary saxophonist, Benny Golson. Jerry Pinkney was an internationally known artist who was also a humble man, who loved and was proud of his Philly roots. His work represents a treasure of beautiful, thought-provoking and informative explorations of the global Black experience. We have lost a kind, compassionate, mentor and friend. We loved him madly. If you could be fluent in any language, which one would you choose

i think id want to be fluent in cantonese, i know it's not mandarin like what most peolle speak, but it'll be easier to communicate with my family(im in one of those "i cant speak it well but i understand most of it" situations)
