Este é o “Thera Merlot 2018” da lindíssima @VinicolaThera — um Merlot (com 10% Cabernet Franc) da região de Bom Retiro, SC (na Serra Catarinense) com 12 meses de maturação em barricas de carvalho francês e 18 meses em garrafa. 🍷 Coloração rubi de média intensidade. Aroma de geléia de frutas vermelhas, canela, pimenta-do-reino e um discreto chocolate. Na boca tem corpo médio, acidez moderada e taninos médios e bastante macios. Repete os aromas com média intensidade. 📝 Um “blend típico da margem direita de Bordeaux”, muito equilibrado e macio, mas sem grande estrutura. Gostoso agora; não sei se deve evoluir com a guarda… 89 pontos. . Le vignoble dédié à Sociando est de 77ha. Son terroir est composé de graves et d'argiles sur un sous-sol argilo-calcaire. L'âge moyen des vignes et de 35 ans. Le bouquet est marqué par des notes de baies noires telles que cassis et mûres suivies d'épices douces, d'une touche de menthe poivrée, de graphite et de réglisse. En résumé, c'est très complexe ! Sociando a de l'ampleur. Il est parfaitement soutenu par des tannins suaves aux grains fins qui incarnent la notion de force tranquille. Il y a de la sérénité mais l'énergie doit encore quelque peu être canalisée. Très belle persistance fruitée de la finale. Un vin élégant, puissant, sapide et émouvant. It has been a while since my last Bordeaux wine, nevertheless a white. Entre-Deux-Mers is a sub-region where we can find good value white, red and sweet Bordeaux wines. This wine is a blend of Sauvignon blanc, Semillon with a touch of Muscadelle. I have already presented a beautiful full-bodied wine from Vigneron Chaigne et Fils @rchbx so I was excited to taste something else from their portfolio! A medium deep golden color with silver hue and a medium plus viscosity appear in the glass. The nose has freshly cut grass, green bell pepper, lemonpeel, elderflower, acacia, apricot and grapefruit. Dry wine with high acidity, medium alcohol and medium body. Flavours of lemon, grapefruit, green bell pepper and elderflower leads us to a medium plus lenght. A very good quality wine which best to drink in the next 3-5 years when it is chilled to 8-10°C. Have it next to a charcuterie board, seafood platter, sushi or creamy cheeses. I blind tasted this wine last night - one of the wines we import and sell in our online wine store (link in profile). Such a rich, textured wine and bursting with fruit aromatics. On the palate - more bright fruits but also coffee and chocolate. I guessed some sort of Bordeaux-style blend - which was mostly correct. (Swipe to see the back label and the 4 varietals and their percentages). But I missed the year - this was a 2013 but it was so fresh and lively that I figured it for a younger wine. Since my annual pilgrimage to the iconic Bern's Steakhouse was canceled this year, I'm remembering last year's epic visit! Following a starter flight of white wine, things got serious with a side-by-side comparison tasting of 1948 and 1950 Pichon Lalande! . Bern's wines have a reputation for aging incredibly well both because the owner showed incredible foresight by ensuring meticulous provenance during transport from Europe to Florida and due to the extra-cool storage temperatures maintained in Bern's legendary cellar. Shortly after a proper decant, we learned that these well-preserved septuagenarians were not just a novelty - they were both still in their drinking window, albeit well past peak. Based solely on inspection in the glass (pic 3), they looked a lot like Bordeaux from the 1970s or early 1980s. . Despite being close in age, the wines could not have been more different. The 48 had faint dried plum aromas, tobacco, earth and later developed the telltale green/pepper notes. In contrast, the 50 somehow had surprisingly bright fruit, but little complexity. Iron initially dominated the palate for the 50, but after an hour the fruit overpowered the iron and it became a very pleasant wine. The 48 never showed much fruit, but was incredibly complex and the better wine overall. .
