I'm feeling exceptionally vindicated because my first thought when I finished both seasons of bridgerton was "now if only it had just been six episodes long" and whaddya know queen charlotte was really good and didn't spin in circles for two whole episodes!!

Unpopular opinion: I liked and appreciated the Theloise subplot in season 2 because Theo helped Eloise see the world from a different perspective and mature as a person. Let me explain.

I don't think Theloise was ever meant to last. I do believe part of it’s purpose was to introduce Eloise to romance, but it wasn’t just about that. It was also about showing Eloise a different world she had never experienced before and understanding her own privilege.

Eloise is quite outspokenly feminist and political in the show, but a lot of people have pointed out (and rightly so) that it can ring hollow and tone deaf when she's so incredibly privileged in her position in life. An important part of being progressive or an activist is listening to other’s experiences, and Eloise rarely listens and mostly lectures. She knows what it's like to be a woman and have your choices taken away theoretically, but in her actual life her family gives her freedom to be unique and unconventional. She wants change for society because she knows something’s not right, but I don't think she even knows what she's fighting for.

Theo opened her mind and her world to other people and their challenges. He challenged HER and HER privilege and hypocrisy, and introduced her to the concept of classism. I very much enjoyed those scenes where he would call her out when she was being ignorant and naive. 

It's easy to forget because Claudia Jessie is 32, but Eloise is a child (17/18) and is still developing her opinions and politics, and in that sense Theo was a very positive influence on her. He helped her grow, and hopefully planted a seed in her that she nourishes in future seasons to be more open to the lives and experiences of others.

im watching persuasion and this script is not only atrocious, it's also straight up just not a period piece. not just the marvel-esque one-liners, but her bath, the rabbit, her bed...this is all so modern
