Two friends gifted me their Polwarth handspun and I finished a scarf. ❤️ They spin very differently, so this project showcases the varied yarn texture beautifully.

The pattern is Black Forest Brioche by Kieran Foley narrowed into a scarf. As someone who enjoys brioche knitting, I REALLY loved this pattern. It may be the first flat-knit brioche piece I found relaxing!

Bonus, it’s a gift for one of the spinners (who dyed and spun the pale yarn). It matches a hat I spun and knit for him out of more of the same fiber he dyed earlier. So he’ll have a matching set!

I have published a new knitting pattern. It is the result of quite a long design process - starting in 2020 and involving a lot of knitting, ripping back, re-knitting, ripping back again, re-thinking, re-calculating etc. The final outcome is a colourful shawl, in bold neon colours that are reminiscend of the 1980s. It is also a lovely mixture of colours, textures and knitting directions, i.e. a bit of a challenging knit and not a beginner pattern.

I finished my Flicker Scarf a few days ago!!!! 🐑⛄️🕯🔥 It's so warm and cozy, and I'm really proud of how it turned out! It took me about a month to make, because I'm so slow and kept a meticulous tally of how many rows I made. 🐑 The yarn is @gustowool Carmen in Neon Yellow and it truly is neon - the yellow even glows under blacklight! (Yes, I check every yarn I own for this, lol.) The pattern is "Flicker Scarf" by Yiğitcan Vatansever. And this was my first time trying brioche stitch and it was especially hard to learn in my backwards style of knitting, especially especially because it's stockinette brioche, which is apparently a rarely utilized style of knitting? According to someone on Reddit anyway, and how I couldn't find any tutorials on YouTube. But I figured it out!! And I really like the texture of the "wrong" side of the scarf, too, it's so spongey and I'm pretty sure that's what's making this scarf so warm, is that these scallop-shaped pockets trap in the warm air. 🔥 This was also my first time "blocking" a project! I pinned it down onto a foam mat set, and sprayed it with a lot of water, then I let it sun-dry flat. These colors are making me smile. This project is a long, Long, LONG time WIP that I keep in a massive basket next to my chair on my side of the bedroom. I think I cast it on about 3 years ago 🤷🏻‍♀️, 4 maybe (?). It is my Brioche Chevron Blanket by the @westknits. I always find that as the seasons are changing into “true” spring weather, I always pull this out and put a few inches on this massive blanket because it’s inevitable that we are doomed to have a few grey days that need a pop of color. Brioche Baby Blanket

Finally finished! Good thing I share this knitting diary with no one I know, or they'll be able to see when I'm making them gifts and things.

Actually worked through pretty quickly because I've been audiobooking/knitting a lot lately. I don't usually like this yarn actually because it ends up looking really bumpy and stuff...but I think it works well for a baby blanket since it makes it all fluffy. lol. Also, I learned how to brioche knit for this, which was fun. It was also annoying because of this yearn being thick and fiber-y? I dunno what to call that when you get inbetween the strands a lot. Still, I love the colors.

I do want to try brioche stitch with a smoother yarn next time though.

Tadaaa! May I introduce: the finished Oneiro Cardigan that I knit last summer. 🧶 #oneiroCardigan It is worked in two pieces. Each side is worked from the sleeve cuff to the center and then both sides are joined in the center back. A lovely double knit border gives the cardigan the finishing touch.
