Hello dear knitting friends! 💕 I haven't posted in quite a while now and to be honest I have a hard time getting back into it. Aside from the aweful things happening in the world right now, I struggle with a lot of things in my personal life, too. But this community has given me so much! Happy Throwback Thursday everyone! 👋 Today I want to share a little more about how the Oneiro Cardigan came to life. #oneiroCardigan About one year ago I knit the very first version. When the above photo was taken, I had not even submitted the design to Pompom Magazine and it did not have its official name yet. I called it Zuckerwatte Cardigan back then. 'Zuckerwatte' is the German word for cotton candy. Both the color and the fluffy fabric were the inspiration for the name. But 'Oneiro' is so much more sophisticated than that. 🥰 I still remember seeing the mood board for the call of submission for Issue 40: Dreamscape 😍 It was full soft shapes, pastel colors and had a wonderful dreamy athmosphere. I thought that my cardigan was a perfect match, so I gathered all my courage and decided to submit it. Tadaaa! May I introduce: the finished Oneiro Cardigan that I knit last summer. 🧶 #oneiroCardigan It is worked in two pieces. Each side is worked from the sleeve cuff to the center and then both sides are joined in the center back. A lovely double knit border gives the cardigan the finishing touch. Then it is done and you have a super warm, squishy and soft cardigan that will definitely stand out. 🤗 The pattern can be found in @pompommag Issue 40: Dreamscape that is currently available for pre-order. 😊 Before I knit the sample shown above I made another one in early 2021. I will share a couple of pictures of that one in the next weeks. It is #throwbackknitsday 😁 ...and therefore the perfect opportunity to show you another picture of my Oneiro Cardigan in the making from last summer. #oneiroCardigan The whole cardigan is worked sideways from the sleeve cuff to the neckline and this picture shows one sleeve with additional stitches for the front and the back. It is such a fun construction and the three strand mohair Brioche fabric is as squishy as can be. 😍 The pattern will be in @pompommag Issue 40: Dreamscape that is now available for pre-order. Last June something amazing happened! It was so hard to keep this to myself for so long. But now I can finally share it with you! 🎉 Earlier in 2021 I knit a gradient cardigan from a vibrant mohair yarn. And when I found the call of submission for issue 40 of @pompommag with the theme 'Dreamscape' I just knew I had to submit my cardigan. I never would have dreamed that my design would actually be selected. 😍 But it was and so over the last summer I secretly knit the Oneiro Cardigan that you can now see among all the other beautiful designs of this year's spring issue. #oneiroCardigan It is knit holding three strands of silk mohair together. Above you can see my swatch made from @gepardgarn Kid Seta which Pom Pom supplied for me to knit the sample.
