𝙂𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 🍗 @rudieslondon in @brixton.village is back open! After only opening their doors for the first time in Brixton in October their launch was quickly distrusted by lockdown, but now they are back. Rudie’s is black-owned, from Jamaican heritage, bringing authentic Caribbean food to Brixton. The meats are marinated for 24 hours in their secret blend of herbs and spices then grilled and smoked over charcoal in a steel drum. I enjoyed the food, we had the jerk chicken, jerk lamb, sweet wings and spicy wings, and ackee & salt fish. I think the jerk could definitely be kicked up a few levels, I had their DIY jerk wrap kit last year and thought it was amazing, but it definitely held a lot more of a kick then. But the spice levels didn’t change my experience, I still enjoyed all the food. The cocktails were great too, from the rum punch to the sweetness of the Jamaica Nice. 𝙂𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 🍹 Let’s all admit it, Prosecco is horrible after the 2nd glass and having it for a bottomless brunch isn’t exciting at all. That’s why I’ll be recommending @rudieslondon bottomless rum punch brunch down at @brixton.village to everyone from now on. Every Saturday & Sunday, 12-4pm, for 90 minutes you get non stop rum punch, which is VERY boozy btw, it’s not watered down, plus a brunch dish for £26.50. It’s a small menu food-wise, but what we had was really good! Eggs Benedict; Jerk pork, poached free range eggs and hollandaise sauce on Johnny cake. That pork was delicious, full of flavour and only enhanced by the hollandaise sauce. Yeah Mon! Full Jamaican; Ackee & saltfish, lamb sausage, baked butter beans, fried plantain & Johnny cake. I never thought I’d be having fish with breakfast but that saltiness goes perfect with the rest of the dish. The sausages were great, plus you get that sweet element from the plantain. Big fan of this brunch, I think it beats their main menu for me. I’m not sure if this is done as standard, but rather than waiting for refills we got given a whole jug of punch. I went to Brixton and found this incredible cheese from La Fauxmegerie at Brixton market. It sounds like the shop is now on Bricklane, not in Brixton.

I just took a full 20 minutes to investigate if I can order cheese from this shop here in Belfast and the answer is yes! I’ve now ordered SO MUCH vegan cheese, crackers and treats. Can’t wait for that delivery! Post to follow.

Also, I met this cat there. Look at them. Magestic.

And this bookstore, Round Table bookstore. I stopped by shortly after they’d received crowdfunding support to become a permanent store after starting as a pop-up. It’s a rad place! Here is an interview with the founders about making an inclusive bookstore.

I enjoyed the cheese in the backyard, in the company of the neighborhood cats who watched me from the fence as they paced the perimeter before coming down for a skritch on the chin.

This, believe it or not, is Bournemouth railway station, looks quite Art Deco it’s been put through an app called Mirror. We’ve been down to Brixton. Went to the Kilo Sale, any kilo of clothes costs just £15. I bought 1.5Kg and they charged me £20! Got 6 football shirts and a weird 50s looking top for me. A started up a conversation with a Norwegian couple, R joined us and we had late, late cooked breakfasts in a Spanish cafe. Home now, resting.
