I've first seen Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood back in 2010, and it's still my all-time favorite anime, it had a huge impact on my taste in anime and how I observe any kind of storytelling in general.....
BUT WHEN I FRICKIN SAW THIS TODAY
THIS, IN THE END CREDITS OF FMA BH.........
I FEEL LIKE I'VE JUST SEEN THE TRUTH.
I thought I was just imagining it...
The similar time period, the train scenes, the single father scientist with a little girl (thank GOD they didn't have a dog....) the super-powerful mythic relic that can change anything and help the two brothers get back what they had lost????
But the fact that P.A. Works had SOMETHING to do with FMA BH....
IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE both of these stories, and I can also see their shortcomings......
BUT I HAD TO SCREAM ABOUT THIS SOMEWHERE OR I WOULD HAVE GONE INSANE. 😭😭😭😭😭😭
I'll just go back to drawing the next webcomic chapter now .

sometimes i feel like swapinverse deviates too much from the concept i originally had (which is that character A goes through events that lead them to having one or more traits of character B) but then i remember that this is all not canon and this is MY CANON and it's all artistic liberty and i have free reign to change things if i think they're too boring or i just want a different aesthetic
nooo stop you can't change logic about the tree of feelings and make it so that the villagers are less hateful as a result to nightmare (melpomene :3) and then also have inspiration from greece that's weird- SHUT UP!!!!! if i want them being named after greek muses and gods and wear drapy loosely inspired clothing then i WILL!!!! normal dreamtale is too boring anyways it's just the sun and moon themes. there's a point where you can't just squeeze in sun and moon symbols without it getting repetitive and trashy
noooo stop you can't completely change the events of xtale/underverse and basically make cross (crash xD) a different character- YES I CAN!!!!!!!!! i mean like what the hell would even happen to xtale if ink didn't exist anyways. xgaster would kill himself?? THAT'S BORING and i needed to find a way to keep xgaster alive so cross can at least somewhat come fron xtale. anyways crash (and also siphon but he's a completely different story that doesn't deviate TOO much) feel very outlierish to me in terms of what they do (since they don't directly do what their character B traits are, those are just a byproduct of their actions)
nooooo stop you can't give killer angel motifs and make him wear a random ass blindfold for no reason- YES THE FUCK I CAN YES I CAN!!!!! i didn't even have a reason for this i just really wanted him to be angel themed when i came up with the NAME savior (what's the opposite of killing? life. okay but i can't just fucking name this killer "liver" that's weird. i can't name him VICTIM either that's just strange especially considering this character concept. so what else is there? i could use kill on its own and search up antonyms. the strongest antonym of kill on thesaurus.com is save. boom SAVIOR) and then i RAN with the savior concept because if i'm gonna have a character literally named savior with a warped savior complex then i might as well go all in on the angel motifs because im out of ideas on unique design concepts

I made a post some time ago about how the song “evermore” by Taylor Swift reminded me of Jamie and Claire, especially the bridge, but looking at the whole song, it reminds me so much of John too. Even more than J/C.
Not that I think Taylor was inspired by Outlander to write this song, or that she actually read the books, let alone the spin-offs (I do believe she watched the show tho, for a few reasons). I just enjoy associating songs with fictional characters and couples lol
The lyrics basically made me think of John being depressed in the end of BOTB and his healing process in The Haunted Soldier.
I associate the first verse with that first scene in THS in which John has to go through the inquisition regarding the explosion at Crefeld, replaying the events to the Comission.
“Writing letters addressed to the fire” is so John Grey coded helppp
Fun coincidence: “Gray November” - The Haunted Soldier starts in November, 1758. “I’ve been down since July” the battle at Crefeld didn’t take place in July, but in the end of June… which is pretty close! lol
“I rewind the tape, but all it does is pause / On the very moment all was lost / Sending signals / To be double-crossed” makes me think of The Doorknob Incident™
The bridge reminds me of John hallucinating with his deceased father in BOTB: “And when I was shipwrecked / I thought of you / In the cracks of light / I dreamed of you / It was real enough / To get me through / But I swear / You were there”
(it’s also this bit of the bridge that I associate with J/C)
The song ends in a hopeful tone: “I had a feeling so peculiar / This pain wouldn’t be for evermore”.
Makes me think of the metal shrapnel that gets out of John’s chest in the end of THS — the one that is stuck close to his heart, causing chest pain. I interpret this as a metaphor for his broken heart and the depressed state he found himself in after everything that happened in BOTB. The shrapnel being expelled by his body not only means physical healing, but it’s also a metaphor for his mental healing.

Terror Time 2022. Days 4 thru 9
Hi again. Here’s an update of the films I’ve watched since my last post.
Haunt (2019): I have a bit more to say about this that I hope to write about later. But for now, I went in expecting a premise where if Pennywise was running a haunted house attraction (because it’s full of your worst fears), but it was ended up closer to Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I’m actually not angry of disappointed about the premise we actually got, but I did thought it could’ve gotten more creative with the kills. Taken more advantage of the setting and costumes, I mean. As for my initial expectations, maybe I confused it with another movie. Otherwise, this was Okay.
Host (2020): Yeah, it took me two years to catch up with the pandemic found footage horror film as it were. I will say, I’m impressed, effects wise, with what they were able to film under heavy lockdown. This might be the shortest thing I ever watched that technically counts as a movie, but; limitations. So I can’t complain on that front. Though that bit with the elbows at the end made me sad, in a "even if they survive this, they’re still in a nightmare” kind of way.
The Head Hunter (2019): Another short one. The first half is more dark fantasy, then the second half goes in a direction that reminded me of Evil Dead, though less goofy. This is a story where the moral is; when on a revenge quest, don’t get sloppy.
The Others (2001): Unfortunately, I was spoiled on the ending years ago. But it’s a solid execution on this version of a haunted house story. Whether you know the twist or not, it’s worth watching just for the atmosphere. Just try to ignore who’s listed under “Executive Producer”...
The Mortuary Collection (2019): The other anthology movie I’m watching this year. First thing, if they ever want to continue the Phantasm franchise, I can see Clancy Brown taking over as the Tall Man. Also, solid reveal for why our other main character is so unlikable, even if I had mixed feelings on where she ended up. As for the stories, first one’s cute, although I don’t know how Montgomery would know about this. Second one is pretty funny in a gross out way, although I’m unclear on the how. Third one gave me anxiety, in a good way. And the last one’s a messed up twist on an old setup.
Thirst (2009): Another South Korean horror film here to destroy a bit of my soul, like all the ones I watched before this (The Host, The Wailing, I Saw the Devil, Train to Busan, Tale of Two Sisters). Though for a vampire movie, it had scenes that were funny to me that probably shouldn’t have been. (Him sipping blood through a tube while lying down, the sudden acts of violence, casually lifting objects with super strength, the whole final scene). Maybe I’m just jaded. It’s a movie that certainly sees the sexual appeal of vampires, but also seems to find them ridiculous to some degree. And that the potential or gain of power can reveal how awful the most unexpected people can be deep down.
Sinister (2012): This almost feels like a movie that could’ve been shot during the pandemic, given that 90% of it took place in one house. And yet, this movie is ten years old! That’s just wild to me. It reminded me of The Shining in a few ways (bad father putting his job ahead of his family, son being wide-eyed and scared, family murder with an axe, etc.) It’s the kind of movie that makes you want to go outside and away from a screen for a while...like I did.
The Brotherhood of the Wolf (2001): Despite what the title might have you think, this isn’t a werewolf movie. I’m not sure that counts as a full horror movie, so much as a film with horror elements. This is, however, one of those films that’s decided to be ALL of the genres. A bit of Kung Fu, Period Romance, Conspiracy Thriller, and yes, Monster Movie, with a bonus inclusion of Evil Cult movie. You like any of these, or any movie with the gusto to try to combine that many genres in one, it’s worth a look.
And that’s it so far. If you want to know about a horror movie I might’ve watched before in previous years, I’ll try to respond with either how I felt about the experience or confirm I haven’t watched it. I’m just happy I had more to say this week.
