NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE THEORY
One of the questions I had after watching volume 2 of the fourth season was how Ellen Stinson managed to rescue the group from Russia and bring them to the United States/Hawkins. Unfortunately, because of the "Two Days Later" note, we didn't get many answers about this. I gathered some details to theorize and fanficate how this rescue might have happened until their arrival in Hawkins, and how Agent Stinson's contacts in Nellis might have helped;
Tumblr media
KATINKA
We start with Yuri introducing his helicopter to the characters, which, according to him, would take them to the United States. Obviously, that helicopter wouldn't have enough power and fuel for a direct flight; Dmitri even tells Yuri that the smuggler's helicopter wouldn't make it to America. In fact, Katinka had never taken off, which is why Yuri said he would make some adjustments.
Tumblr media
Joyce had the idea of calling Owens for help. After a few hours, Stinson returns the call, and after Hopper manages to convince her that it was really him, they exchange some information. Most of the dialogue is off-screen, but Stinson talks about Eleven and the Byers, and most likely, Hopper gives a brief explanation of his situation in Russia and asks her for help to get them to Hawkins. I have a theory that Ellen must have asked Hopper to provide a safe address for her to send her people/contacts to pick them up. This safe location would be "Yuri’s Fish N Fly" because the route would be a bit shorter than going directly to Hawkins, the fuel would be enough, and it would be a place already known to the characters and secluded.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE
Nellis Air Force Base is a real-life military installation of the US Air Force in Nevada. In Stranger Things, it is mentioned in episode 8 when Eleven decides to leave Project Nina and go to Hawkins. Dr. Owens says that Stinson has contacts in Nellis and that they could reach Hawkins before nightfall.
Tumblr media
The cool thing about mentioning that Stinson has military contacts she trusts when needed is that this could be useful again in season 5.
As we know, everything went wrong; Brenner cut Owens out at the last minute and forced Eleven to stay in Project Nina as long as he deemed necessary until her powers were fully restored and much stronger. After that, Sullivan's faction arrives at the Project Nina.
Stinson would use her contacts at Nellis to get a helicopter and send some of her trusted colleagues from Nellis to the meeting point in Alaska, with total secrecy. I think they would use a more discreet helicopter to avoid drawing too much attention.
LEAVING RUSSIA
After the final battle, we saw Yuri and Dmitri arrive with Katinka fully functioning at the prison to rescue Hopper, Joyce, and Murray and get out of Russia as soon as possible. Then Yuri would head to Alaska, specifically to "Yuri's Fish N Fly," the meeting point with Stinson's contacts. Landing there, Hopper got in touch with Agent Stinson, and sometime later the helicopter arrived to take them to Nevada.
Tumblr media
To me, those who went with the helicopter to Nevada were Hopper, Joyce, Murray, and Dmitri.
- Hopper and Joyce for obvious reasons.
- Murray would go with them to Nevada but would later head to his home (that same year, he would move to Hawkins and start working at Bradley’s Big Buy, as the filming photos of season 5 suggest).
- Dmitri would go with them because he is now a traitor in his country, so the only way is to follow his life in the United States, in another city. Owens' friends could easily bring his wife and child to the United States and give them citizenship in exchange for secrecy, perhaps (most certainly, we won't see him in season 5).
- One interesting thing is that in the script for episode 9, there is a conversation that didn't make the final cut where Murray says to Dmitri that he could imagine him living in Indiana.
Tumblr media
- As for Yuri, it obviously wouldn't make sense for him to leave since he has his established place in Alaska.
NEVADA
Stinson or other agents would receive them at Nellis and accommodate them at their base before heading to Hawkins by car, so they could take a shower, get clean clothes, and learn a bit about what is happening in Hawkins.
A cool detail on Hopper's cap is the embroidered golden oak leaf decoration, the same that officers wear, like on Sullivan's visor, because it has a military meaning. They are also used by ordinary people as a tribute. I imagine Stinson's contacts in Nevada giving the cap to Hopper so he wouldn't be identified
Tumblr media Tumblr media
HAWKINS
After that, Stinson, Hopper, and Joyce head to Hawkins, while the other agents in Nevada took Murray to his home in Illinois. After some time, he returned to Hawkins, and Dimitri was taken to his new temporary address, possibly in Indiana or somewhere far from Hawkins.

The Pentagon forced an Air Force base in Nevada to cancel a drag show at the start of Pride Month that had already been approved, according to three officials familiar with the situation.
The drag show at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada was scheduled for June 1 and recognizes the importance of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender service members and civilian personnel. According to a military official, it would have been the third annual drag show held at Nellis, known as “The Home of the Fighter Pilot” and the Air Force’s center for advanced fighter training.
Despite the previous two events being held at the base, this one was not allowed to move forward after the Pentagon intervened on Wednesday, according to two defense officials, forcing the base to cancel the event or move it to a different location.
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has spoken in support Pride Month in the military, saying in 2021 that “LGBTQ+ citizens have fought to defend our rights and freedoms from the founding of our nation to the Civil War” and beyond. But he has drawn a line at allowing drag events or shows to be hosted at military bases, one of the officials said, making clear that DoD funds cannot be appropriated for such events.
“Consistent with Secretary Austin’s congressional testimony, the Air Force will not host drag events at its installations or facilities,” an Air Force official said. “Commanders have been directed to either cancel or relocate these events to an off-base location.”
NBC News was first to report on the show’s cancellation.
A Pentagon spokeswoman said drag shows are not an appropriate use of US military bases.
“As Secretary Austin has said, the DOD will not host drag events at US military installations or facilities,” spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said. “Hosting these types of events in federally funded facilities is not a suitable use of DOD resources. Our Service members are diverse and are allowed to have personal outlets.”
In March, Austin told a House Armed Services Committee hearing that “drag shows are not something the Defense Department supports or funds.” Pressed by Rep. Matt Gaetz, a Republican from Florida who has attacked the Defense Department over what he claims is a focus on “wokeism,” Austin reiterated at the time that “this is not something we support or fund.”
During the same exchange, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Gen. Mark Milley said he wanted to look into the occurrences of drag shows on military bases to “find out what actually is going on there.”
“I’d like to take a look at those, because I don’t agree with those,” he said. “I think those things shouldn’t be happening.”

"Commanders have been directed to either cancel or relocate these events to an off-base location." In other words they can still have drag shows at nearby locations. Oh wait…now the people who want them will have to pay for a venue. And that venue might have age restrictions.
The Pentagon informed Nevada's Nellis Air Force Base that a previously approved drag show slated to take place on the base on the first day of Pride Month could not take place because it was not in line with Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s recent comments, according to two defense officials.
The drag performance would have been held at the Officer's Club at southern Nevada's Nellis Air Force Base on Thursday, June 1, and had been approved by base commanders, just as it had been over the previous two years.
Base legal officers and commanders had determined that the event was in line with DOD policy and no department funding would be used for the event, according to the official who spoke to ABC News.
The decision on hosting such shows is typically left in the hands of local commanders who follow guidance from military attorneys, but Nellis officials were told earlier his week by the Defense Department that Thursday's event was not consistent with Austin's recent comments to Congress and that it should be canceled or relocated off base, a defense official told ABC News.
"Consistent with Secretary Austin's congressional testimony, the Air Force will not host drag events at its installations or facilities," said Ann Stefanek, a U.S. Air Force spokesperson. "Commanders have been directed to either cancel or relocate these events to an off-base location."
Military services were informed this week of the clarified guidance that only applies to drag shows held on military bases, another defense official confirmed.
Other LGTBQ+ events scheduled to take place at military bases during Pride Month will not be impacted by the new directive.
"Per DoD Joint Ethics Regulation (JER), certain criteria must be met for persons or organizations acting in non-Federal capacity to use DoD facilities and equipment," Sabrina Singh, the Pentagon's deputy press secretary, said in a statement.
"As Secretary Austin has said, the DOD will not host drag events at U.S. military installations or facilities," said Singh. "Hosting these types of events in federally funded facilities is inconsistent with regulations regarding the use of DoD resources."
Singh explained this is not a change in department policy.
"The Secretary has said DoD will not host drag events at U.S. military installations or facilities, consistent with long-standing policy," she said.
"We are proud to serve alongside any and every young American who takes the oath that puts their life on the line in defense of our country," she added. "Service members and their families are often involved in a host of special interest activities related to their personal hobbies, beliefs, and backgrounds."
The Human Rights Campaign, an LGBTQ advocacy group, blasted the reversal as "sid[ing] with the politics of fear and discrimination peddled by extreme members of Congress."
"For decades, our community has fought for our right to exist without shame or exception, yet [Austin's] decision to ban an event that has happened in prior years reinforces false tropes about LGBTQ+ culture. At a time when we are under attack, the Pentagon is ceding to extremist forces focused on taking away our rights -- leaders responsible for national defense ought to do better. Our people deserve better, the United States military deserves better, and all Americans deserve better," HRC President Kelley Robinson said.
In late March, both Austin and Gen. Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, expressed reservations about DOD facilities hosting drag shows when questioned about the matter by Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla.
"Drag shows are not something that the Department of Defense supports or funds," Austin said in response to a question from Gaetz.
Milley said he was unaware of the congressman's reference to drag shows taking place at Ramstein Air Base in Germany and Nellis and asked for more information "because I'd like to take a look at those myself actually -- take a look and find out what actually is going on there."
"I'd like to take a look at those because I don't agree with those," he said. "I think those things shouldn't be happening."
Gaetz applauded the cancelation of the planned Nellis drag show.
"HUGE VICTORY: The Department of Defense has CANCELED a scheduled "child-friendly" drag show after I demanded answers from @SecDef Austin and General Milley! Drag shows should not be taking place on military installations with taxpayer dollars PERIOD!" he tweeted Wednesday night.
Austin issued a statement Thursday celebrating the start of Pride Month and the contributions of LGBTQ+ service members.
"As Secretary of Defense, I remain dedicated to making sure that our LGBTQ+ personnel across the Joint Force can continue to serve the country that we all love with dignity and pride—this month and every other one. We thank you for your service—and we thank your spouses and your families, whose support makes your service possible," said Austin.
ABC News' Nate Luna contributed to this report.

Cod x Fallout NV! Mixing special interests!
Allow me to go on a tangent for a hot minute.
Exbrotherhood! Ghost: Simon has been part of the brotherhood for as long as he can remember. Having been abandoned as an infant on the steps of the Hidden Valley bunker. They took him in, becoming one of their most outstanding soldier with expertise in both weaponry and survival tactics. Simon would then be tranfered into their patrol team. Where he would collect data and become familiarized with the mojave landscape. Enough to expose himself to dangerous amounts of radiation. Which then turned him into a ghoul. He made his best attempt to keep his ghoulification hidden. However, word got around that they've been noticing a harshness in his voice and reluctant to change, shower, or eat in front of others. The overseer found out, making them take the ultimate decision of executing one of their own. In which he deemed "Putting him out of his misery." Simon completely shattered by his sentence. During his incarceration, he conjured the plan of faking his death on the day of his execution, in hopes of leaving the brotherhood and adopting the new identity he called "Ghost."
Boomer! Soap: John grew up on Nellis' air force base ever since his ancestors had left Vault 34 decades ago. Ever since Soap was introduced to heavy artillery and explosives, which is customary for residents part of the boomers. He discovered his natural talent of all things explosives, firing from long distances and calculating the necessary amount required for certain jobs. Soap volunteered to be part of their guard outpost. Anyone who would even look in the direction of the base would have been blast to kindgom come. They would receive all sorts of unwarranted visitors. A group that managed to catch his eye were the raiders who flaunted their makeshift armor. A part of Soap grew curious of their lifestyle and choice in wardrobe. After dark, he would secretly collect the scraps leftover from the explosions. Not much could have been recovered, but the pieces that did survive, he would wear and keep hidden in his bunker. Soap couldn't let the others know of his fascination. It would have been seen as fratinizing with the enemy.

One of the few charisma checks in Fallout: New Vegas is needing to have 7 charisma in order to give toys to the Boomer children at Nellis Air Force base
Now if you only have, say, 3 charisma you can get your charisma way up by putting on charisma boosting clothing like a suit. Or sexy pajamas. And you can drink moonshine and pop some mentats.
So you can wander into a schoolhouse in sexy lingerie, wash down some drugs with an entire jug of moonshine and then go “Hey kids ya want a toy dinosaur?”
And the adults love it if you do this btw you gain Boomer fame from doing it

People are sleeping on this queer representation + show in general
As a queer Asian American I feel an obligation to get more people to know about Warrior (2019) which is streaming on MAX (HBO), but had originally aired on Cinemax.
This show is based on an original concept and writings of Bruce Lee and is executive-produced by his daughter, Shannon Lee. It is set in 1870 San Francisco and bases a lot of the story and characters on historical figures during/around the Tong Wars. It's a riveting, action packed series that's sure to please anyone who enjoys old school martial arts films, westerns, dramas, and more.
But that's not it. The show has an interracial queer relationship that too many people don't know about. This will now go into spoiler territory. So if this post has already convinced you to go watch it just from the first image, then don't read on.
You first get to see Ah Toy and Nellie Davenport interact at the beginning of season 2. Ah Toy, from season 1 is already canonically bisexual. From the get go it is evident that they are enemies as Ah Toy is an influential madame in Chinatown who runs a brothel. While on the other hand Nellie is a rich widow who has aided the police force in raids throughout Chinatown to shut down crib brothels. In time you'll learn that they're both badass motherfuckers, but I don't want to spoil that for you!
Tumblr media
As the season progresses, they find that they aren't as different as they originally thought. Falling straight into the enemies to lovers story path. So here's a still from season 3 of these wonderful bi women to encourage you all to check out Warrior.
Tumblr media
Still not convinced? Look at them!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not enough? How about now?
Tumblr media
No? How about now?
Tumblr media
Well then here's my last try...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have now done my duty to try and get more people to watch this show and support these women. It is out of my hands now.
PS: If you do watch it, come spam my inbox cause I wanna talk about it! Also if you like fanfic, then subscribe to my AO3 cause I'm already working on some fics for them :D
PSS: There's also straight interracial relationships and gay representation too.
