As a Selkie, Meara tends to follow some seal tendencies.

After a few weeks of not drawing after... the incident... I now have the whole Fae Fam just being cute. Brynjar being the cute little shit he is, Tali holding his tiny wife with ease, and Meara... being a banana. 

There’s been a few changes to Bryn and Meara, Meara being one you’ve kinda already seen (just not her human form) and Bryn changed cause I did some stuff to Satyrs in my world.

Also, yes, she did turn her seal skin into a belt. It’s just a thing Selkie do, don’t question it.

It’s nice, drawing again. I also lost my signature, so I gotta remake that too, so I guess you’ll have to deal with me just writing out my name, lol.

For “Mirror Images”! How do your OC’s act when they are truly alone? What side of them do they hide from others on purpose and why? I found this prompt both funny (because I’m an absolute hooligan when I’m alone and dance and what not lol) and also insightful for OC’s. Happy Writing!

This will be short and is obviously late, but looky I’ve accomplished this thing that has literally been at the top of my to do list since I got it.

Meara: as a way of managing the flow of information between her and the outside world she tends to observe above all and is selective about reacting, alone (other than needing controlled yet not boring background noise in the form of music) she’s much less aware of her gestures and whether or not she’s just been vocal. Generally a lot more expressive, loys or random noises

Cori: is much more of a dreamer when alone. In public, appears executive, always having something in the works, more active than passive. Alone, it’s colorful pens and highlighters, watercolors, abstract planning in the form of doodles, and millions of different kinds of paper. The walls of her bedroom are filled with sticky notes

August: when alone she completely forgets how to sit properly and is splayed our all over doing whatever she’s doing, much like a cat caught off guard

Happy STS! Which of your OCs is the pickiest eater? (my side writeblr is chauceryfairytales!)

Greetings, my impressively magical friend!

I had to think on this one for a bit and it was eventually decided by process of elimination. Meara is willing to try most foods because food is culture and culture is how you get to know people. She may not be good at approaching them, but she loves people. Bryn grew up on a farm and Cori’s family has contributed to her sophisticated palate, so August wins the title of pickiest eater by default.

😂 You’re so generous

1. Meara: people watching. She’s not exactly one for interacting with people, but people watching just brings her so much joy

Even better if she’s sitting with someone and they make eye contact after being amused by the same thing

2. Cori: she loves the moment she can see the gears switch and her loved ones stop overthinking

3. Bryn: a meal where he can use canned food and preserves he made another year, especially if he’s cooking for lots of people. Something about it makes him feel very accomplished and secure

4. August: being in the eye of the storm, both literally and figuratively. She loves the power, control, and adrenaline that comes from being the center of a thousand moving parts and the one that starts each chain reaction. (Restaurant rush hours are her specialty) but also she’s the kind of fool who would go out on her porch for some air in the middle of a hurricane

5. A surprise character who will help us later!

1. Out of all the anime in today's time, what would be your OC's favorite? 2. What is your OC's favorite form of fighting? Their favorite weapon? 3. Would you OC ever sleep with a gun?

1. I have very, very limited experience with anime, but if you give me tiny summaries for a few I could probably assign them?

2. This is not a final answer because I really need to do some brainstorming regarding the tech in Mirror Images and how that affects things like self defense. I can tell you that Meara prioritizes close, hand-to-hand combat. That is as much as I know thus far.

3. No! That’s incredibly dangerous and irresponsible and my kids promote gun safety! Meara definitely would have a nightstand with gun specific storage, however. And there would definitely be a gun locked up in the farmhouse somewhere, it is after all a farm in the middle of nowhere, but it wouldn’t be in Bryn’s room.

Meara: honestly, we’re both pretty introverted so I don’t see us hitting it off immediately and talking for hours on end, but I’d like to imagine she’d think we’re made of the same stuff and respect our differences.

After finding out, she’d stop cutting me any slack, but I also think she’d be there if I needed someone.

Cori: she’d probably think I’m real sweet (c’mon, who wouldn’t fawn over her?) and someone to go to for insight, studying too as long as it’s not too math-y

Bryn: I think he’d see pretty quick that I don’t do anything halfway.

August: she thinks the best resources are friends because you can trust them and she knows she can reach out to me.

Happy Storyteller Saturday! Tell us a little about how your OC sees themselves, versus how the world perceives them. Do they cultivate a specific image? Are they aware of how people think about them? Is there more to them than meets the eye?

Meara is extremely, extremely cautious about what she puts out into the world for people to form opinions about her on. I guess the specific image she’s going for is something that would inspire respect, but also not get her a second look. She wants people to know they can come to her with their problems when they see her, but she also wants it to be clear that she’s not an easy target. She usually has a stronger relationship with people than she realizes. The truth is she really just needs someone/a community to pour her efforts into. She sees herself as someone still learning how to be a person. Most people see her as a friendly face, but don’t realize how invested she is in her surroundings

Bryn tends to perceive people very matter of fact-ly. Very much my actions tell you what you need to know about me and what you do tells me what I need to know about you. He doesn’t really care if people have secrets. He uses what he knows and adapts if that changes. As honest as he is, nobody really knows what to think about him except that he does his job well. And he doesn’t really bother to wonder about it, unless there’s a misunderstanding that needs to be cleared up.

In Cori’s opinion, a person’s goals say a lot about them. Where she’s going is really important to her. While she considers herself someone who works hard and doesn’t forget to play hard, most people wonder when she stops. The truth is, her life isn’t very fast paced, she’s just really thorough in what she does choose to do. She tends to encourage the confusion people have about her because she doesn’t temper anything about herself or do things to affect the way the things she likes may present her to others.

August is definitely considered the person who knows a guy for every situation and she loves it. Because of her connections she’s known by a large variety of people and it’s her favorite thing to get different and sometimes contradicting rumors shared about her at different ends of her social group. Then there’s also the people that know her as Meara’s kid sister who always seems to be doing something, but figured it’s probably something like candy crush not totally legal but definitely underground networking.

Look, it’s my present ask! I have to resist the urge to hoard them. This is actually gonna be a toughie. I know for Meara, she’s most amused by casual absurdity. Like you can find in history, a list of normal things happened and then an absurd one, but the lecturer does not batt an eye.

Oh, I know for August, others’ bewildermemt is her ultimate entertainment. She likes to cause chaos and see how people respond.

Bryn likes jokes with social truths in them.

Cori likes any joke that’s well crafted and makes you think.

Hi, there! Belated STS question: What color(s) do you associate with your OCs and why?

For Meara, I’d say a forest/mossy green. It’s super cozy like a warm color, but because it’s a cool color it also gives off the idea of being reserved

Bryn makes me think of the reddish purple in a sunset, kinda regal and distant but comforting and reliable

Cori, a color similar to the plant Cordyline electric pink. To me it’s very much a sure and formidable color, a color for someone you’d see accomplishing things and admire and want to get to know

August, a sort of golden peachy copper, bright, playful, and conductive, connected in little ways to lots of things
