Theory for Dark Rise 3

What if Anharion had already chosen Sarcean?

Anharion's look at Sarcean was described as showing love, but something came to my mind. What if Sarcean and Anharion had spent a night together while Anharion was still the Sun King's servant?

What if Visander, jealous of Sarcean, had told the Sun King everything in hopes of separating the two.

the Sun King, knowing that he had been betrayed, bewitched Anharion, which is why he acts so strangely when Sarcean was arrested for treason. (The betrayal being that he "stole" Anharion from the Sun King).

And Visander goes to Sarcean to release him with the hope of keeping him. But, Sarcean discovers that he had betrayed him to the king and as a form of revenge, he kills all the people he loves.

Then the necklace arrives, which instead of controlling James, leaves him free from any spell that could control him. Tell me I'm not going crazy

Theory about the true utility of the necklace!

This post should have been about my friend's wit (who hasn't read Dark Rise but listened to me for hours on end while I talked about the books), but despite the man's genius, let's focus on what he brought as a theory: he raised the hypothesis that perhaps it was Sarcean, somehow, the source of the ideas about the Necklace.

The argument was based on the idea that Sarcean couldn't bring himself and Anharion to this life with both having memories of the past. After all, how could James have no memories while Will frequently had entire flashbacks? That's where it is. We don't see other reborn besides Will and James, so it's likely that even the Dark King had his limitations, so he couldn't ensure that James would have his memories.

Knowing this, and also the human corruption and the strange allure of the object, Sarcean planned the dissemination of legends about the Necklace, which would contain Anharion's memories, where whoever put it on James could have it as their possession, in order to manipulate people so that the memories reached Anharion's reincarnation. In my opinion, it's a thing that Sarcean will do.
