getting through my poetry assignments by just,, basing it off of the events of bungo stray dogs. i looked at chapters 99-100.5 (the fight between Kenji and Tecchou) and just said "get sestina-fied". This is the most dramatic shit ever and I love it so so so much. will post if literally just one person asks for it even

working on catching up with the bsd manga so i can watch s5 (look... i know Most of what happened except for a couple things and. okay. i read chapters 99-100.5 before i watched s3 but. it's fine) and like. i've said it once and i'll say it a million more times. the bsd manga art is SO GOOD I WANT TO TEAR MY HAIR OUT AHHHHHHHHH

I can’t stop thinking about this because Kenji clasping his hands around Tecchou’s and showing him kindness while Tecchou was expecting death after everything that’s happened is just so sincere and gentle. Kenji feeling for Tecchou and offering that support is what they both need right now.

But also I made myself sad by thinking about the friend Kenji lost in the flood, and I wonder if he looked at Tecchou and thought of his friend, especially given the tears in Kenji’s eyes. I wonder if Tecchou maybe looks like them or in some way reminds him of them. Idk I’m rambling but I hope that after they both finish having a nap, they can do more than just work together and actually become friends.

some thoughts on tecchou (chapter 100.5)

oh. a new chapter came out and i'm still trying to understand what happened/hj

spoilers ahead!

this chapter was short and focused on kenji and tecchou. and i want to talk about tecchou.

he was defeated by kenji, and not in condition to fight anymore. and here he realized he placed more importance on jouno than his mission

but he is a hunting dog, and a hunting dog must fulfill the mission, following the justice.

tecchou says he is "no longer qualified to be a hunting dog", because he misjudged jouno, the justice and the enemy, kenji.

i think he says that because he has a clear point of view: "there is evil that goes unpunished and good that goes unrewarded" (quote from the manga). tecchou embodies the "good", the "justice" (for him, as a hunting dog). his job is to punish the evil, to bring balance through his blade.

but now he realized that he was trying to follow the justice and at the same time trying to save jouno. these are two things that cannot be done at the same time, even with all the skills that tecchou can have. giving more importance to jouno, he abandoned his mission, and the justice he had misjudged.

tecchou asked kenji to kill him, and he is sure about that, almost resigned.

look at his resigned eyes.

he is just waiting for kenji to kill him, thinking that's the only option he has. but tecchou, you DON'T KNOW KENJI

he just wants to help tecchou, he isn't mad at him. despite the fact that tecchou himself asked to kill him because he is no longer "worthy" of being a hunting dog, kenji doesn't want to hurt him.

surprised. tecchou is surprised, kenji has no intention of killing him, because his kind personality suppressed that fury, even after being attacked like that by tecchou.

and tecchou says "nevermind". if i remember correctly, if the hunting dogs fail a mission they are punished afterwards. but tecchou, after everything, says nevermind, getting help from his own enemy. he really misjudged kenji, and everything else, but he was able to "forget" that.

i'm sorry to bring this up after ch101 but i couldn't stop thinking about tecchou's and kenji's whole interaction until my remaining braincell offered a reasonable parallel. i present to you the summary of ch100.5:

I saw someone say that they didn't like the new chapter because "Kenji is just Chuuya 2.0 !!!" and "his backstory was overly tragic and felt unrealistic!" Which like, to each their own I'm not gonna pretend you have to love the chapter but I just wanna say, I disagree.

Sure, Kenji and Chuuya have similarities when it comes to not using their full power because it's far too dangerous. HOWEVER they still have contrasting methods of handling it. For Kenji it's to stay calm and be happy and cheery, to look on the bright side and avoid negatives. Chuuya however embraces his anger and opts to cover his hands instead. What increases their power is very different.

Also when it comes to Kenji being an "angwy boi" or whatever he's not? Kunikida says that it's not possible to anger Kenji easily unlike Chuuya. Sure both characters could possibly qualify for anger issues but they manifest very differently. Chuuya is more grumpy and has a short fuse, he's easy to set off while Kenji is more patient and harder to anger but his anger is hard for him to control and has devastating consequences. I feel as if that's pretty opposite? Plus, the citizens aren't nice to Kenji because he's easy to anger or because they will anger him but because they fear the possibility, no matter how unlikely.

And as for Kenji's backstory? I honestly think it was one of the more realistic tragic backstories. Kenji having a friend die in a natural disaster is too far yet it's perfectly fine for Chuuya to wander the streets as an orphan god? That doesn't sound like a fanfic to you?

I dunno, I feel like if you're upset Chuuya's not in this chapter you can just say so. No one's gonna crucify you. It's just a bit frustrating when all this fandom cares about is Chuuya (or Dazai) to the point of complaining about anything that isn't them.

the fact that Kenji had gone into his 'berserk' phase but still helped Tecchou at the end, just shows how genuinely nice he is, that he'll only be that kind of person if he need to protect someone he treasures and necessary. He's just a kid, he's nice and wants to protect everyone :((
