can i ask how ttr has a more cohesive storyline than clash

Itd be hard to explain the lore here since ttr has been running from 2014 and does borrow elements from tto i believe. Id look it up because stuff like doomsday is very interesting!

But yeah ttr expands its story through in-game events like the election and unlike ttcc it didnt suddenly decided to say stuff outside the game is noncanon which is whats leaving ttcc in a scramble to organize and redo their lore.

Ttr doesn't update as frequently, but this means they have more time to update their game properly and not mix up their own story. Unlike ttcc whos known for putting out updates DURING PLAY TESTING.

And since ttr dosent dismiss outside elements like blog posts, newsletters, and comics. Their able to use those for their storyline also.

Yes! Ttr has its own comics! Their more slice of life to ttccs world expanding comics(?) But their cute so id give them a read.

Which WOW look at that! Intresting toon characters! I feel like ttcc also didnt do as much as they could with their own resistance rangers anyways. Evlis purrsley did like . Idk die . Or whatever but you didn't even hear anyone outside of btl niche fans talk about that.

Did you hear apparently they’re now contemplating the canon of older comics. As in some older comics may be phased out of the clash canon, and I believe BTL/WSI as well. That coupled with the retcon of BTL-relevancy for the new litigation team drops is kind of sad. Like. Atticus at least deserves to be remembered.

i really can't blame the writers deciding to retcon most, if not potentially all, of btl bc the entire deal with btl is a very messy case, imo. it was a setup to the cj's resignation and clo's hiring, and atticus's death was an in-universe reason for mgr's cheating, but at the same time it was very much a "you had to be there" moment.

this is just a goon theory on my part, potentially colored by my own biases, but if i had to pin another reason for why they might end up retconning btl/wsi it would be because of the whole "first ever cog death" thing. they mentioned hitting a wall w/ their writing at a certain point and i've interpreted it as they didn't know what to do with atticus/elvis/redd after everything that's happened. they seemed to have tried setting something up with elvis and redd in "hired help" but were unable to execute it due to how scattered the lore was and the writing teams changed since then.

again, i wanna stress this is just my personal theory, and not something that is true.

sidetracking a bit; while i'm on the topic of btl lore i wanna share that i feel like making it so that cogs can die whilst also getting rid of dip (aka the thing that kills toons) in canon was a terrible writing choice on their end. imo if you're going to introduce mortality in a game where it was left ambiguous in the og (reminder: dip wasn't mentioned in tto despite it being loosely based on wfrr + it never stated the cogs we defeated were perma-dead), then it either should be applied for both parties or the concept shouldn't be introduced into the game at all. if getting rid of or rewriting btl means changing how they handled that then it's a change i'll happily welcome.

Looking for Andrew Spider-Man for JCINK Spider Trio

Hello hello! Thanks for taking a look at our buddy request. The short and sweet of the story is that we’re two 30+ RP loving gals who happen to play Tom Holland (Ruby) and Tobey Maguire (me) Spider-Mans and we’re for Andrew Garfield Spidey to complete our trio on the panfandom JCINK site we run called, Between the Lines.

While *Spoilers* we LOOOOVE No Way Home, we don’t require that you pull him from it. Tobey Peter comes from directly after that movie, but our Tom Holland Spidey comes from around Endgame, before No Way Home. He has no idea what awaits him. Muhahaha!

  We're currently working our two Spider-Mans into the same city with a bit of Eddie Brock and Vee causing chaos in the middle. Tom Peter maaaaay currently be playing host to a certain alien made of black goo while Tobey Peter is reluctantly teaming up with the symbioteless Eddie to help his younger self and he could really use Andrew Spidey's help.

  As long as he's still his Amazing Spider-Man self, we’re pretty flexible on whether your Spidey knows about the other Spideys or if you want to add a bit of comic/previous iterations for flavor (my Tobey Spidey has a begrudging friendship with his universe’s Deadpool, he’s worked briefly with the X-Men), etc.

  Ruby also has a cinnamon bun of a murderer with Andrew’s face (FCs can be reused, yay multiverse!) and we’d love to see some wonderful chaos where people mistake Peter for Angel and freak out… because glorious IC drama. This totally isn’t required, though and definitely up to you on how you wanna roll.

  With that said, there are a few things we do want, both from the character and a writing partner in general.

The Character:

  Definitely still The Amazing Spider-Man, rather than a comic book Spidey with Andrew’s face.

Mid 20’s to mid 30’s

Near the end of his dark place after Gwen’s death, or through it.

Still his wonderful, quirky nerd of a self.

You as the writer:

  We’re pretty much always throwing ideas (and some IC chat) back and forth to test out headcanon babies. We’re definitely looking for a third buddy to gush, plot, and write with.

Rubes and I can be fairly speedy, but flexible posters. We have our own stuff going on from mental health to busy work schedules and that means we have our slow times like everyone else. But we’re also friends and we chat even when one of us can’t post for whatever reason. Someone who posts less than once a week on a regular basis or who just disappears off the face of the Earth when a real life moment hits probably isn’t going to work for us.

We consider ourselves fairly good writers with a decent grasp of grammar and creative writing (show don’t tell, etc). Ideally, you’d be the same. To clarify on this point, we don’t need you to be perfect. We definitely are not. But we do love to paint a picture.

We tend to write anywhere from 100 to 500+ words depending on our muses and would like the same in return.

We’re both in the EST timezone if that matters. It really doesn’t to us. We’re looking for a buddy and while it would be amazeballs to have someone up and chatting when we are, we’re in it for the friendship and the story, not the clock.

We’re also both over 30 and the board is 18+ for players. We're definitely looking for a mature, adult writing buddy regardless of the rating of the content we choose to create.

We're  admins on BtL and looking to have this plot (and others) on our site. We won't do private discord or Doc RP and aren't willing to join another site at this time.

I can't believe that this mess finally has a title, a cover and most importantly a date because yes, I can “officially” say that chapter 1 of Artemis: Behind the Legacy will be posted july 15 directly here on my blog!

Here you can see a bunch of characters that will take part into this madness! I'll use this post to make a couple of warnings:

1. The comic will contain SPOILERS of pretty much all the prequel trilogy, if you didn't play it yet don’t read, believe me, I don't want to ruin your experience for a dumb fancomic

2. As I said before this is a FANcomic, so fans of the original games don't come to my house with torches and pitchforks; it's a retelling of the prequel trilogy, I'll never present it as anything somewhat canon

3. The tone will be slightly darker than the games/movie so yeah expect a little swearing (99% of this is Artemis fault dammit), some violence and the tinyest bit of blood; nothing tragic I swear, but eventually I'll put a little disclaimer at every chapter so in case you're not comfortable with these topics you can just skip it!

4. This fancomic includes canon characters that unluckily have barely no screentime or backstory so yeah, I took advantage of it and had fun making my own version of them, please don't be offended by it ><

Bought Mikasa roses today, she was so fucking adorable when I gave them to her, got all excited and put them in a vase in her apartment. We were late to our date, ugh she's so annoying. She took even longer to pick a dress, she wanted me to help choose which one I liked best. Like can't she choose herslef?? I picked my favourite black one with the high slit obviously because her legs look fucking amazing, but still? Really?? Can't even pick out her own dress, she's such a pain in the ass, I can't stand her.

Our Tom Holland Peter is 15 and this would be purely a brotherly/menor style relationship. Not a romantic one. Nothing against that ship at all. It’s just not the kind of adorable brotherliness we’re looking for.

yeah i think some people's issues with having a character they kin criticized is unfortunate but comes from a place i can understand. when i was like. younger i definitely felt like it could have been an attack but ive grown and kinda like. looked inward and asked why.

anyways i do kin a character from ttcc but im their number 1 hater (of the stuff that is like. not good) because i kin ATTICUS FUCKING WING.

i joke about putting me back in but objectively the main issue was how BTL was handled. with the fact we were objectively confirmed gay (clancy and i) and then both of us died, and then everything was posthumously removed from canon entirely. it's definitely a trend with keeping gay rep of any kind noncanon which i don't think is inherently malicious but definitely not good taste.

Yeah, i dont say it too make fun of people who kin or d/a since i do for multiple tt chars and even my own tt ocs, but the problem is alott of people are quick to jump to ttccs defense simply because their attached to these characters. Theres a lot of fanon and hcs out there that.. well aren't canon to the game which is what some feel like your attacking when you criticize the game.

And i dont do it bc i hate ttcc! I really do want this game to be able to stand on sure footing and be able to be good for those who play bc if the gameplay and those who follow for the story. But if you LET the game go by without any criticism the team feels more comfortable giving its playerbase scraps. Which isnt fair to anyone at all.

I do not think the ttcc team are queerbaiting . At least not intentionally, because the game has a lot of support for queer players! But

It IS just very crummy that most of the "canon" ships have a lot of their evidence . Fully written out of the games lore which makes it verry very easy to just say they arent canon. Which is a bad look. With how much the ttcc retcons who says they wouldnt retcon this? I mean they did with clancy and atticus! And their still able to make promotional material with it and gain profit and marketing with it??? Its just eugh def could have been handled better.

But once again that's another flaw of making everything outside of the game noncanon. Because you cant just go back and rewrite the game to support whats been said. And you cant make a side comic or blogpost that confirms it.

First of Van I want to start of by saying that I am an avid and regular reader when it comes to your brilliantly amazing writing. I’ve loved every single pieces of your work to death, there is nothing like coming home after a stressful day and reading BTL, even though I myself am a Tatyana lover. I always tend to fall for the character with a tragic past, I was a book nerd when I was young and let’s just say that when I read many series it always pained me to see my favorite character die. In tayna’s case it has to be done…all I ask is it’s done amazingly…which it will be because it’s you writing it Van. The reason why I’m writing this ridiculously long thought is because I am writing a story myself. My story deals very much with the Salem Witch Trials and different Era’s in history. In fact if I hadn’t stumbled upon BTL months ago I wouldn’t have come up with my idea. So thank you Van for inspiring me. I’ve been having trouble writing the magic part of it. I don’t want to lay it on to thick that it’s the stereotypical she has magic powers we read about in almost every book now. The way you write the vampires and Wanda and Tatyana’s powers is pretty much the vibe I’m going for. From a writer to a writer what helps you write those type of sections? You see my main character has powers much like Wanda’s (hers are genetic and come from an ancestor from Salem) but I’m not sure how I would write her using them for the first time. You see she doesn’t know she has them, but I’ve already written certain parts where she “thinks” she’s seen her eyes turn crimson or her hands begin to feel like pins and needles as her powers are present but not activated. My character is very steady and cool headed, I imagine her freaking out a bit when she realizes she has these “gifts”. Is there any tips you could lend a fellow writer when it comes to writing magical witch bloodlines?? I would really really appreciate it Van.

ohmygosh! Thank you so much for the kind words and support. I'm so flattered that I could inspire you to write a story <3 Tragic characters also have me in a chokehold so I get the attraction. I will do my best to do right by Tatyana and the ending I have in mind I think will suit her :)

Writing advice under the cut !

If I'm completely honest, I sometimes feel cringe about my world building LOL I can't take too much credit because for Wanda for the most part, I am following MCU/Comic lore.

I think you need to decide what type of witch your MC is.

For example: Wanda's powers are very closely tied to her emotions. MCU really shows it physically very...wispy and lots of tendrils. Wanda doesn't operate by spells or runes because she doesn't need to. I think the knowledge of it enhances her magic but it's not really necessary. It's very chaotic. MCU talks about how Wanda is the scarlet witch due to conditions being met like being exposed to a powerful source (mind stone) and extreme trauma.

Tatyana, on the other hand, has to run by spells and runes. A very classic telling of a witch. She's very logical in terms of using her magic. She breaks down the formulas of spell, rune by rune, using them to try to create new spells. I would classify that Tatyana's magic is sharper, tangier, precise in everything. She comes from a line of powerful witches. My lore would be the being in a coven can enhance your powers with shared knowledge and magic.

Deciding what kind of witch your MC is, it can really change how this magic manifests. Does extreme trauma bring out their true power or do they stumble upon understand how to use spells and runes. Is there a certain kind of magic that only they can use because of which bloodline they come from. Things like that are good to consider.

I think I would need a little more clarification on exactly what kind of tips you're looking for regarding writing magical witches with a bloodline. I'm not too sure if you're looking for advice on how it would manifest, what it could look like when something triggers hints of magic, or if you're looking for something for world-building around bloodlines.

Wait when was it stated that Redd didn’t like the fight between the cogs and toons? Sorry, I’m new to the game so I wasn’t around for Break the Law

the introduction lines for his boss fight** has him saying how his father is suffering due to the toons antics, as well as how he refuses to let him suffer in silence because of it. there's also this blogpost which, while short and is rehashing what i said before, tells us how he chose to deal with the situation while btl was active. i also believe redd's feelings about btl was briefly talked about in the "Who is Atticus?" podcast posted on clash's youtube however i would take that with a grain of salt as i haven't listened to that in awhile and i don't wanna comb through it atm. i do remember we were given some backstory regarding the two, however, which can help bring perspective and i recommend giving a listen regardless.

but yeah he does Not like the toons at the start/during btl and i'm pretty sure he feels the same way now. whether he also hates cogs inc. for not helping atticus in his time of need is up for speculation but it makes sense for me personally if he did harbor resentment towards the company, imo. aside from this, it's confirmed by ottoman during his '21 dialogue he's out there somewhere and some people have speculated he's been doing his own investigation work regarding atticus's death (+ potentially elvis's disappearance) going off one of the panels in "hired help" comic that shows someone with atticus's pictures on a corkboard which, again, is just a theory though i'm pretty sure is true but we'll have to see
