Three green books I found at work. Many years ago we apparently paid extra for the library bindery to use the fancy patterned buckram instead of the boring solid color stuff. I love finding these in the stacks, and so far I’ve never found two of the same pattern and color!

Repainted the face to better match my ✨vision✨

Primed and sanded down the 3D print lines, repainted the whole thing, sealed the skin matte and the jaw gloss, and swapped out the eye mesh for better visibility. So happy with the results!

Just needs some pigments to come in now for the finishing touches!

HOLY SHIT I need to shout to the void that buckram mesh (the stuff used for fursuit eyes) CAN be heat-formed!!!! It doesn’t take detail and it remains flexible, but I was able to form a little test square around a sharp curve with a heat gun when it usually wants to lay flat or buckle-

MY IDEA JUST MIGHT WORK!!!

Edit: so it kind of worked on the larger pieces of mesh, but since I couldn’t pull them as tight around the surface I was using to shape them due to their size, they’re more vaguely curved- but hey, that’s still an improvement! At least they don’t fold & try to buckle the way untreated mesh did. I know a lot of cosplay makers use hollow glass orbs to form nice curves in larger pieces of heat formed material like EVA foam or Worbla, so maybe that would have worked better in my case - alas I am orbless (don’t even have one to ponder … tragic). Need to remedy that someday.

Brain, I appreciate you coming up with better ideas on how to make parts of this cosplay, I really do … but couldn’t you have come up with these ideas earlier than, say, 6 working days before it needs to be ready?
