Scott opened the door to Stiles’ room to find his two best friends standing in the middle of the room, standing in mirrored poses with their hands on their hips and their shoulders squared in determination. Stiles' stringboard had been completely taken apart and re-done, with new pictures tacked on and green and yellow yarn hanging up in addition to the usual swathe of red. There was a picture of Derek hanging up next to a picture of Keanu Reeves.

“What are you two doing?”

“Stringboarding through Stiles’ sexuality crisis,” Theo answered.

“Oh. I don’t… Is it working?”

“I think so?”

Allison joined them later, having come to collect them for the dinner plans they had made earlier that week. Theo was now standing between Scott and Stiles, and the stringboard had been divided in half; one half had “STILES” written on the top, and the other had “SCOTT”, both in Theo’s slanted handwriting.

“What… are you doing?” the huntress asked, slowly entering the bedroom.

“Stringboarding.”

“Stringboarding what, exactly?”

“Their sexuality crises,” Theo answered. “At first it was just Stiles, but then Scott joined in.”

Allison blinked. That’s certainly not what she was expecting.

“Is it working?”

“I’d say so. At the very least, it’s helping them work through some internalized homophobia,” Theo mumbled. Allison blinked again, taking in the storm of chaos— Stiles had added another three pictures of Derek, most of them looking like photos of cryptid sightings, and had made a heart out of red yarn around a picture of Lydia, while Scott had pictures of both her and Isaac, as well as one of Theo from their last pool party.

“Huh,” Allison muttered, very clearly intrigued.

When Lydia and Isaac came to see what was holding their friends up, the stringboard had been rearranged again, divided into thirds this time, Allison’s name added to the third section. As they watched, Allison passed the green yarn to Scott, who handed her the yellow back. The three of them were bobbing and weaving around each other, three dark heads moving as they talked amongst themselves about something.

Theo was standing in the middle of it all— or, more accurately, he was sitting on Stiles’ bed in a nest of pillows and blankets that he had assembled at some point. Isaac and Lydia rolled their eyes in sync at the blatant coyote behavior.

“Welcome to the trio’s joint sexuality crisis,” Theo called. “Please tell me you aren’t also having one; the board only has so much room, and I can only handle so many more questions about what I like in men.”

“Scott was wrong to ask you for advice! You dated Isaac, that just proves you have bad taste in guys!” Stiles yelled over his shoulder.

“Seems like just about everyone else shares his type, apparently,” Isaac pointed out. Allison and Scott both had several pictures of him on their boards, quite a few of them shirtless.

“Forget them. They’re nerds.”

“Is that… Is that just Derek’s back?”

“Yep.”

“Can we go eat now?” Lydia sighed.

Cryptober Day 31: Mothman.

And of course, we're capping off Cryptober with one of the most iconic cryptids of all time. I just know you were all waiting for him. The man, the moth, the legend. Mothman is a bipedal, winged humanoid originating from Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Descriptions of him vary from person to person. Some describe him as looking more human, and some describe as more moth or even like more of an owl. His coloration varies from black, gray, and brown, and he is reported to be about 7 feet tall, with a wingspan of about 10-15 feet. His most notable feature is two large, glowing red eyes.

The first Mothman sighting took place on November 12, 1966, by five men in a cemetery preparing for a burial. He was also seen just three days later by two couples, who were allegedly chased by Mothman in their car. The most famous Mothman sighting, however, would not occur until December 15th, 1967 during the collapse of The Silver Bridge, arguably the most horrific bridge disaster in US history. Several witnesses reported seeing this bizarre creature in the area just shortly before the collapse. It is because of this that many believe that Mothman's purpose is to warn people of impending disaster. Some claim to have also spotted him before other awful tragedies, such as Chernobyl and 9/11. Mothman witnesses also claim to have been harassed by the Men In Black who wanted to silence them, but Men In Black are a WHOLE different conspiracy all on their own.

Whether the Mothman legend has any real merit to it or not, he has undoubtedly become an icon of cryptozoology, as well as pretty much the mascot of Point Pleasant. They have their own Mothman Museum, a commemorative statue of the famous creature as a very famous tourist attraction, and even a yearly Mothman Festival. He is undoubtedly one of the most beloved cryptids, and by golly he deserves it.

Prosciutto for sure does not believe in it. Even when he was younger he always thought it's not possible to truly love someone without knowing them. It was probably because of how much he guards his heart. I used to believe in it but now it's kind of complicated. For a while I didn't believe until I watched a video where a scientist explains some things about how the brain processes and perceives love and it was convincing when she talked about love at first sight being a real thing! Plus even though I didn't want to admit it whatever I experienced with Pros somewhat felt like love at first sight.

🎃 - You and your f/o are going to a costume party! What do you both dress up as?

We'd go for a classic Hades and Persephone! We might also try Mr and Mrs. Smith just because I know he would love to dress up.

💰 - How much does your f/o spoil you?

More than I deserve. Like I'm not a demanding or high maintenance person. But he seems to really enjoy spoiling so I don't really say not. However, Prosciutto isn't impractical, neither is he frivolous with money and doesn't spend it recklessly, he's got great financial sense. So it think he spoils me a reasonable amount. Though honestly I would consider him buying me a piece of cake as spoiling really.

👽 - Is your f/o superstitious? Do they believe in cryptids?

Yes!!!! Okay, I was going to say no because of course Prosciutto believes in the materialistic world and is very logical. But he makes me think logic and superstition can absolutely go together. Especially because in canon he literally wears a necklace resembling a magatama and talks about spiritual weakness. It leads me to believe he actually believes in some spirituality. I made a whole post about it somewhere but even if Prosciutto outwardly denies it I think subconsciously he's very aware of things such as luck (he talks about being unlucky in the manga) and spiritual energy. So he's definitely, even if in secret, is superstitious he is not taking ANY chances. About cryptids... I think he might not believe in them but still get a bit spooked thinking they could exist like his secret fear of ghosts LOL

I hc Prosciutto had a very complicated relationship with his mother. It leads him to have all sorts of mommy issues and something that I think we have in common. His father on the other hand was an ass.

Surprisingly, Prosciutto needs reminders more than once. It's not that he never remembers, he's usually very good about his boundaries. But because of work he really slacks off on taking care of himself. So I try to make sure he gets a lot of time for himself. Plus, I personally need A LOT of "me time" myself which works as a reminder for him too.

You've been in a poly relationship with Elton Pope and Hiromu Takahashi for 3 years now. October was a favourite month of the three of you. It was a time for spooks and scares and superstitions. And when it came to such superstitions or beliefs, you had the biggest believers in cryptids as boyfriends!

Oh yeah, anything they hear about a mysterious monster in Loch Ness or strange sightings of a large hairy creature in America or strange lights in the skies at night, Elton and Hiromu are instantly hooked. Though they listen to the logical side of things explained by experts in TV shows, the two of them still hold fast to the belief that such creatures exist.

"We don't know how deep Loch Ness could be! There could be underwater caverns that we haven't explored in those waters!" Elton would protest.

"How do we know the strange lights in the sky are just stars? They could extraterrestrial saucers! Stars don't move in that pattern!" Hiromu would declare.

You would smile and shake your head, chuckling as you watched your two dorky but adorable boyfriends get into a heated debate with an expert on the TV, who couldn't actually hear them.

"How does he think he knows it better? There are some things in this world that can't be easily explained" Remarked Hiromu, crossing his arms with a huff.

"Yeah, like ghosts and uh what's that underground place called? You said it one time, something about giants in the center of the Earth or something?" Asked Elton.

"Argatha" Replied Hiromu.

"Yeah that's it!" Smiled Elton.

"I read it in the Monthly Mu. And I believe so, there's giants living under our feet. They used to live above like us but eventually moved underground" Hiromu Explained as Elton listened intently.

You smiled from your comfy spot, wondering how long the two would continue their debate though it was pretty entertaining at times, you could see both Hiromu and Elton were just passionate about their shared interest in cryptids and would happily discuss the topic for hours if they must to get their point across to someone.

You watched as the expert guy came back on and your two boyfriends turned to the TV screen as he appeared.

"Oh, what those smarty pants have to say this time?" Asked Elton, making all of you chuckle. You listened as the expert explained how such sightings of big foot could be easily explained.

"It's a bear obviously" Concluded the expert and that sparked an outrage from the two boys who immediately launched into their rambles.

"How can a bear walk on two feet like that in the video! Bears don't have arms like that and the face doesn't look like a bear!" Cried Hiromu angrily.

"It looks more ape like, nothing like a bear! And how do you explain the big footprint? That's definitely not from a bear!" Protested Elton livid.

"Well Mr. Expert, I conclude that to me, it's Bigfoot. Obviously!" Huffed Hiromu, irradiation in his voice and body language.

"Yeah!" Agreed Elton.

"Y/N, you've seen the video of Bigfoot. Does that look like a bear to you?" Asked Hiromu. You looked up from your book to see Hiromu and Elton staring at you intensely, awaiting your answer.

"No. Definitely not a bear. Like Elton said, it's more like an ape" You Replied.

"So what do you think Bigfoot really is?" Asked Elton.

"Well it's not a bear for sure. To me, I think Bigfoot could be some sort of ape species closely related to us in some way. Or just some new species of animal we haven't discovered, maybe Bigfoot could America's first primate like creature" You Explained, hoping your theory didn't upset them.

Instead, Hiromu and Elton looked at you with awe. They were impressed it seems.

"That is honestly the best and good theory I've heard" Remarked Hiromu smiling.

"Yeah, that's a really good theory Y/N" Smiled Elton. You smiled back at your boys in return, glad they seemed amazed by your theory.

"Do you have more theories of your own that you'd like to share with us?" Asked Hiromu hopefully.

You chuckled and closed your book, happy to join in and oblige their hungry minds.

"Sure if you guys are up to it" You Replied smiling. The boys gathered around together with you excitedly.

"Of course! Let's hear it!" Cheered Elton.

You smiled and happily joined them in their discussion of cryptids, inputting some theories of your own and they doing the same. It was a healthy and fun discussion and you honestly couldn't wait to discuss more with your nerdy boyfriends again!

I brought my Tommy Coolatta cosplay back for Sunday at Rose City Comic Con 2022, and as much as I enjoy cosplaying horror characters he may be my favorite cosplay because the interactions are so gosh darn wholesome! I’m always a little surprised (& delighted) how many people recognize him!
