Today, I would like to introduce you all to Blogging. I'm quite sure many people already know much about this topic but, I would like us to share what we know for others to gain accurate knowledge and hence start blogging as hobby or business.

Hey I saw on your post you were Into acting. I've always wanted to get into it but I don't know anything about the process or where to begin. Any knowledge you could pass on?

Hi friend! I haven’t been in the acting world for a few years now, but I’ll be happy to pass on what I know.

The first thing I would strongly recommend to anyone looking to start in acting is to take lessons. As many as you can. Improv classes, movement classes, classical theatre, contemporary theatre, screen, voice, you get the picture. The more well-rounded you are, the better.

Just as strongly as I recommend lessons (maybe even more strongly at this stage) is get involved. You don’t need any acting background to audition for local theatre groups or school productions. This is the best way to see if acting really is something you want to pursue, and it’s amazing, invaluable experience. You can use it for your resume (local theatre anyway, school not so much), and because theatre communities tend to be small, you’ll make connections with people from all over your town, which makes getting involved in all kinds of different theatres and plays much easier. There’s also students films, which are a great way to get a feel for working in front of the camera (which has a very different feel to it than being on stage).

Next, you’ll want to figure out what aspect of acting you’re most interested in. Most people immediately jump to wanting to do film, which is fine, but there’s pros and cons to theatre and film and sometimes one suites someone’s acting style better than the other. Or you can pursue both. You have plenty of time to decide this, though. When you’re just starting out, you need experience before people will actually pay you for your skills, so test out as many of each as you can.

ProTip: Don’t pay anyone! Okay, I don’t mean anyone. You’ll need to pay for lessons. But if you ever decide to get an agent, do not pay them. They take a percentage of your earnings once you start making money. If they ask for money up front, run. There are a lot of scams out there, unfortunately.

A great way to get a sense of what a professional film set is like, without having to actually land a role in a big film, is to be an extra. Anyone can be a film extra! There are tons of extra or ‘background talent’ agencies all over the world, and they pay you to boot! Just be aware, extra work, as with any work on a film set, involves a lot of sitting around doing nothing, and a lot, a lot of time. i was once on a shoot for over 18 hours. It’s a great experience, but not for everyone.

Once you’re ready to start auditioning for smaller payed gigs, I recommend checking out mandy.com. It’s basically a film/theatre classifieds, where people post job notices for actors, directors, special effects people, etc. You’ll find some great indie projects on there looking for new talent. Again, just make sure you have enough experience on your resume.

You’ll also want to try to accumulate new skills for your resume. Basic skills that most people have, like driving, swimming, etc. are a bonus, but other skills will open all kinds of doors for you. Dying to be in medieval-era fantasies? Learn to horseback ride, learn archery, learn fencing. More into comedies? Rock some improv. The more skills you have, the more roles will be available to you.

And finally, always use your noodle. There are lots of jerkfaces looking to take advantage of actors. If something seems sketchy, it probably is.

Is there any way I can get on the list of people you send your writing to?

I’m genuinely so flattered that you’d be interested in reading my work! Right now I’m working with a group of other writers who I have a long-standing rapport with and whose editing/critiquing styles I know well.
