Do you roll your ankles all the time and don’t know why? The reason is because our ankles no longer have the ability to rotate in full 360 degrees (as they are supposed to, all they can do is walk on flat ground, which doesn’t require much movement at all. And thus sudden changes in ground texture, can give us real problems, like when the ground is slippery or when there’s a hole 🕳 you didn’t expect to walk into. This forces you into an extreme movement your body wasn’t adapted for and causes you to over stress tendons and ligaments in the foot/ankle. If we want to avoid sprains (types of shoe worn also is a big part of this, but for another post) we flat out have to move them in more ways and more often in general. So if you are going to sit, you can at least experiment 🧫 with some various coordinations between both and suddenly feel a burst of new circulation coming to restore tissue function. It’s that simple, use them or LOSE THEM! 😭It’s either do it now for free or do it later in Physical Therapy.
