Okay okay so y’all.
Chuuya’s alive! Yay! We all knew it was going to be true because seriously? Our boy wasn’t gonna die that easy.
But what the hell is up with the vampirism? Like when he showed up at Mersault he was clearly turned (and it made me very angry but that’s a different diatribe) but then in 103 as the water came up his eyes were normal again? And this chapter we didn’t even get to see his face, not clearly but what’s there to hide if he’s a vampire? And if he isn’t, how exactly did that work is vampirism just… reversible here? It’s not undeath, it’s not permanent? Or is it something specific to Chuuya? Like between Arahabaki and the Super Special Ability-Controlling hat there’s factors at play that may help shake off possession or mind control I think.
But then if vampirism is no longer a factor somehow (and I don’t think our boy is still vampy, because of the above, and would a mindless vampire clutch at his hat?) why is a Chuuya helping Fyodor? There’s a reason, some kind of plan or something because our boy is smart okay, maybe not as smart as all the fucking genius jackasses in the series but he’s smart and he’s loyal and I cannot believe he’s be going along with Fyodor if there wasn’t a plan at play, or some kind of REALLY convincing speeches but I really doubt the latter.
Anyway. Happy BSD day guys, as usual I’m just being insane about Chuuya.

bsd manga 105.5 spoilers
what i think could have happened happened is that dazai perhaps knew chuuya wouldn’t drown and that he would save himself leaving fyodor to die. but he didn’t anticipate chuuya saving fyo as well. he might be prepared for chuuya to tear him a new one because he tried to kill him, but then dazai would just be like ‘well uhh actually i knew you would escape so technically uhhh 🤓’
alternatively, the first part (chuuya saves himself and fyodor dies) was planned all along by soukoku, and chuuya only rescued fyodor to fuck with dazai for a while. then chuuya fucking kills fyodor, tells sigma to get away from his mans, and then soukoku obliterate fukuchi. using the magical meursault water they resurrect all the vampires and everyone is happy the end

So I’m guessing Dazai’s already rigged the elevator in his favour, considering we are specifically shown that he messes with the wiring.
But then why tell Sigma that Fyodor is dead? Wouldn’t it be bad for Dazai if Sigma figured out he lied to him?
I’m guessing Dazai didn’t actually tell Sigma the main reason why he chose him, just two plausible reasons to satisfy Sigma’s curiosity.
I’d say he’s still trying to get Sigma on his side, and get him to join the agency.
Oh, what would happen to Sigma’s ability if he were to officially join the agency? Considering the nature of Fukuzawa’s ability. Would sigma’s ability it become more useful? Could Dazai be setting Sigma up for an entrance exam right now?
That sounds like a long shot, and a bit convoluted. But I supposed it is an idea…

I know that Chuuya is probably going to use corruption and save Dazai and what not, buuut. It would be really funny if he just. took Sigma with him and would leave Dazai and Fyodor to fight in the water like this:

BSD Chapter 105.5 Screaming!!
Spoilers for chapter 105.5, of course!!
I’m a little late but I was in class
Tumblr media
Back with the prison break!! Dazai’s being a little goofball
Tumblr media
Hehe drowned rat Fyodor, it’s just imagery tho, not actually what happens
Also Tecchou crumbs!!! And Kenji!! Can’t wait until we see them, I think they’ve just been asleep this entire time
Tumblr media Tumblr media
CATGIRL NO!!!! Aww, I really liked her!!!
She deserved so much better, JUSTICE FOR CATGIRL!!
Oh, and Fyodor and Chuuya are alive, I kinda knew they wouldn’t die like that, both these characters need a much more dramatic death
Also, we don’t see Chuuya’s face this entire chapter, I don’t think, do with that what you will
Tumblr media
Hehe they swim
Also I LOVE Dazai and Fyodor’s expressions here, Dazai looks genuinely frustrated, and Fyodor’s menacing as always
Tumblr media Tumblr media
OH HOW THE TURN TABLES!!
Sigma didn’t deserve this, poor guy just wanted a family
Closing thoughts!! I liked this chapter!! Last chapter was super short and not much happened, but I think now that the anime is airing and Asagiri has more time to focus on the manga things will pick up soon (he helped work on the anime’s production, btw, which is probably one of the reasons recent chapters have been short. Honestly, I don’t mind, as long as he’s not completely overworking himself like other manga authors).
As for the chapter itself, it was honestly intense, and as much as I want the prison break arc to conclude so we can get everyone back in one location at least, I also want that conclusion to be satisfying.
Very excited for the next chapter (watch it be another PoV change lmao)

Bsd Manga spoiler!!
Okay, it was obvious that Fyodor and Chuuya were not dead but not gonna lie I smiled when I saw them.
Also, I'm pretty sure that Dazai and Sigma won't die too.
Moreover, I don't think Fyodor is right about Dazai doesn't know his partner's ability. They both know each other very well. So, I think (and I hope lol) Dazai knew that somehow Chuuya would get out of the water and after that (maybe thanks to water or something else) Chuuya become human again. (Look at his face is not shown so he might not be a vampire anymore).
And, I don't feel good about sigma because Dazai tries to manipulate sigma to find out Fyodor's ability. He doesn't care sigma at all.
Anyway, It was a great chapter and I hope we can see Meursault again in the next chapter.

MAJOR SPOILERS ⚠️
Bungou stray dogs manga spoilers
Chapter 105.5
ppl are comfortable w this chapter cuz asagri wouldn't kill a character easily. They struggle but they're eventually saved in the end. but I wouldn't be comfortable when this is abt dazai facing danger. his death in every universe is probable and serves the plot in many ways
Tumblr media
I obv can’t tell what Asagiri’s plans are for every character. I can only say that he doesn’t like killing off important characters, and that I personally hope that Dazai doesn’t die (which also goes for every character tbh)
We all know that killing off odasaku was, unfortunately, necessary for the plot and dazai's character development but Idk whether him killing off would give the same effect on other characters (mainly chuuya)
Tumblr media
If we're talking about dazai, bsd is def his redemption arc. Yes, him dying and saving everyone but himself would be poetic ngl but it'd be a pity if his life is thrown away like that, interrupting that arc. he really never forgot what oda said before dying.
Tumblr media
There's this Tumblr post talking about Dazai's potential death that I really admire and think it's poetic but I can't help but feel sorry for him cuz he's my fav character after all and m pretty sure his death is gonna hurt. Not only from my point of view but also for bsd characters'
Tumblr media
ppl saying "chuuya is pretending that he's still a vampire and he's secretly now working with dazai cuz dazai's speech awakened him" give me one. just fkn one logical explanation to this apart from the power of love wth????
And das dazai being so desperate to be called babygirl and all flirty flirty w this sigma at the most inappropriate time imaginable. I love him sm istg.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Ah yes and here's another beautiful panel of fyodor that will eventually be turned into a living nightmare by bones
Tumblr media
IN THE END I WANT TO SAY THAT THIS IS SOCIETY IF THE ADA LISTENED TO RANPO AND REFUSED THE JOB

Dostoevsky’s Ability (BSD) Theory
Enjoy my Theory on what I think Fyodor’s ability is, it’s importance, + detailed analysis on chapter 105.5
Tumblr media
As we see here, Nikolai is holding his hand—but wait, how did he not die? wasn’t that apart of Fyodor’s ability?
Yes, that is true… but there’s more to his ability than that, obviously.
“Yeah but, like what?”
I think there are many possibilities as to why this is true. Here’s what I think:
Fyodor is able to control who he kills by touch.
Fyodor can kill via his mind. (This kind of goes hand-in-hand with possibility number 1).
And lastly, all of the above.
Personally, I think that number 3 is the most likely possibility. I think that Fyodor can control who it is he kills, and that is when he activates his ability.
Sure yeah, that may be true—but even so, that does not explain what his ability EXACTLY is, and the purpose of it…
Allow me to answer that for you with more detail provided.
Tumblr media
Manga Chapter: Bungou Stray Dogs, Chapter 53.
Anime: (Episode 12 in Season 3).
Crime And Punishment
Now, let’s dive straight into what his ability might be, shall we?
Let’s say that his ability is controlled by Fyodor.
He believes that crime is sinful, but yet he commits crimes himself—that is because he believes every ability user to be sinful, including him, too. But apparently to him, his way of murder is justified, because unlike everyone else—he kills for evil to be stopped, or rather, for evil to be punished, and to rid the world without sinful gifted ability users like himself. Therefore, those who defy him deserve to be punished with a taste of their own medicine—crime itself. Which, (according to his motives and all that he has stated so far), is assumed to be the existence of ability users themselves.
To sum it all up simply: Crime = Ability users themselves = Punish crime = And punish all ability users with an inevitable death.
Tumblr media
As we can see here, the existence of ability users is simply a “crime”, to Fyodor. He describes them to be “sinful.” (Later on I will do some analysis’ on his actual character, and why I think he haves these beliefs, why he acts on them, despite being an ability user himself). Back to my main point, I do think that his ability allows him to kill whomever he wishes with a single touch.
(which is not entirely all that great because someone could shoot him down from a far distance, and there are plenty ways to kill someone without touching them).
Tumblr media
In the photo provided here, it shows how Fyodor believes himself to be the “right hand of god.”
With this in mind, If he believes that to be true, then that should be enough to show his motives behind his killings.
He might believe that because he was born with this ability, only HE can be God’s right hand, because only HE can achieve a world without sin for God. Only HE can be God’s “servant.” Given that fact, of course he would strongly believe this to be evidently true. And of course, God would never want people to sin. If Fyodor carries through with God’s wishes, he believes that God will listen to him and allow him to commit murder if it means achieving his wishes. This only makes his ability even more suited for him as a character, which I personally am quite fond of.
Now, let us move on to the more recent chapters, shall we?

Manga Chapter 105.5
“Fyodor killing . . . with a gun? Why not use his ability? Wouldn’t that be much quicker?”
Assuming that Fyodor can control his ability and kill whenever he pleases as long as he is touching another person, why not use it?
I have thought of many possibilities.
He was trying to let Dazai and Sigma HEAR Cat Lady die. Since there was only an intercom microphone, and not like a visual screen or anything.
His ability requires too much thinking, and we all know that Fyodor wanted to be brief—since he was soaked and physically weakened.
He cannot use his ability if he cannot think about (or possibly visualize) killing someone. This kind of connects with possibility 2.
Every time he uses his ability, it may physically impact his body some way, and because Fyodor had to endure what Dazai put him through, (which was forcing him to avoid drowning), it was a big challenge for him and he was rather too weak to use his ability, if that makes sense. Again, this also connects with possibility 2 and 3, in a similar way.
All of the above, excluding number 4.
Just wanted to note that:
He is clearly touching her with his hand, pinning her down that way, so that clearly indicates he is able to control his ability with whomever he chooses. That is certain fact, for sure. Same goes for Nikolai.
I believe the most likely possibility is either number 5, or number 1 by itself.
Another little thing I noticed that doesn’t exactly have to do with “deciphering his ability”, but decided I want to mention it anyways.
Fyodor killing with a gun instead of his ability is rather ironic, and kind of funny considering that he didn’t even need the gun to kill, just his ability would have worked. That is kind of like a form of “mockery” to Dazai, doesn’t it?
Think of it as a conversation in that moment.
“I have killed this woman, but I used a gun instead of my ability, fully aware that you know I could have done it that way, but instead I chose to kill her like this instead. How does that make you feel, Dazai? I am laughing at your reaction to the sound of her death by my gun. I did it just so you could hear her scream cut off with a bullet jolting to her head.” ~Fyodor
“Why, you little. . !” ~Dazai
I mean, that itself practically screams just how cruel Fyodor can be.
And . . with simply such a small detail like that?
In a way, this detail is pretty small, and may be hard for many to truly decipher,—but I think the reasoning behind that small detail also made it one of the biggest details in contribution to Fyodor’s character as a whole. It really does speak a lot about him (but I am not going to go into full detail, since that is not the main reason why I made this post).
My Theoretical Postulation.
He seems to be big on “returning the favor”, no? Doesn’t this also go hand-in-hand with crime and punishment? In a sense, I think that it most certainly does.
Tumblr media
Conceptually, this abstract idea of mine has always existed, but I could never quite put it into words until I saw chapter 105.5., showing more of Dostoevsky’s dark (and maybe even more desperate) side. He refers to himself in a religious-way once again, as we see many times, highlighting his very obvious beliefs that he is a “subordinate of God.”
Tumblr media
He remarks that Dazai put him through a very stressful situation, considering that even though he finds that the trial suited him quite well, it unfortunately caused undeniable harm to his “very weak” physical body. Thus, because of what Dazai did, Fyodor says that he will “punish” Dazai by giving him “the same trial.” And it would appear that he does.
Now . . . doesn’t that kind of sound like a portrayed idea of “crime and punishment” itself?
To me, it undoubtedly does. I love analyzing a bunch of the little things and some of the bigger things so that I can connect them altogether, and fit them all into one big picture. It’s like putting together a complicated puzzle full of possibilities, meaning, and ideas.
Clearly, Dostoyevsky’s personality (and character in general) can be rather based mainly upon these abstract beliefs of his, and just about all of his actions revolve around that idea, does it not?
They all have to do with crime and punishment.

Theory About New BSD Character's Name
!SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO DIDN'T READ CH.101!
Hello! I am not sure if someone did it before, but I have a guess what's the name of the new bsd character. (I'll judge only basing on the character's appearance since we do not know much about her yet)
Recently, an unnamed person with time stopping ability was introduced in the story:
Tumblr media
My guess is that her name will be Patricia Highsmith.
Tumblr media
Patricia Highsmith was a famous US novelist, and wrote a lot of psychological thrillers. Many stories written by her had film adaptations. She also suffered from alcoholism.
So why the new character might be her?
Firstly, Patricia stated that she loved animals, especially cats. Throughout her life, the writer was mostly alone. Patricia said that her "imagination functions better when I don't have to speak with people". Yet, she had a lot of cats, which, in her opinion, helped her to make creative ideas.
Looking at the new bsd character, we can see that her costume reminds of a cat. It is skintight, has ears and even tail.
Tumblr media
Furthermore, Patricia wrote scenarios for some of USA Comics, Western Comics and Fawcett Comics from 1943 to 1946. Those comic series (first two) were published by Marvel and DC comics, while the publishing company (Fawcett Publications) introduced well-known Captain Marvel (but Patricia did not participate in working on this series).
In Bungou Stray Dogs, the new criminal's costume reminds a lot of Marvel and DC female characters' clothing: skintight and might be seen as inappropriate for some people. Like the majority of the US comic personas, the woman also has a good body shape.
So, if the theory is true, then thus Kafka and Harukawa might wanted to show Patricia's relation to making scenarios for the comic books.
Tumblr media
Last but not least, the novelist wrote a lot of short stories and books about criminals. She also said that life "didn't make sense without crime in it".
The new character, meanwhile, is a famous robber, that was imprisoned in Meursault. If she will actually be Patricia Highsmith, then the character would portray the novelist's interest in writing crime fiction and psychological thriller.
(I also found info, where a Japanese writer's book was compared to Osamu Dazai and Patricia Highsmith's works. It is called "Last Winter, We Parted" and was composed by Fuminori Nakamura. I think that it probably doesn't have any connection to what I wrote, but I put it here anyway. Maybe that writer will also appear in bsd <who knows, who knows...>)
Sorry if my research contains false information and grammar mistakes (yes, I'm too lazy to look for them). Thank you for reading and have a nice day! ;)
