So much to unpack here. So let's go panel by panel. That little question mark from Hinata says so much. The idea that Kageyama- who is leagues better than him, who he thinks is the best volleyball player of their age- still needs to improve isn't a thought that's ever even occurred to Hinata. The reason he's pushing for more control is because of how intensely aware he is of the difference in their talent and because he doesn't want to keep it the way it currently is. He wants to be equal to Kageyama, a fellow monster instead of a club and never in that equation was the idea that Kageyama also needed to improve to be on his level.

And and and, it's so clearly spelled out here that they make each other grow. Even if he wants to, Hinata can't just get better solely on his own. For him to wrestle control of the quick,his partner also needs to be better. And this applies vice versa too.

I could be here with Hinata's exclamation mark all dayyyyyy but moving on, Ukai Kesishin and example #9230746586 of being such a goddamn great coach. We as a fandom need to thank Takeda everytime for harrassing him into this.

Hinata's oh so casual faith in Kageyama vs the panel of Keishin telling Kageyama how hard it'll be to make the falling set. These idiots take my breath away, I love them.

Anddd the last panel! This is such a fundamental part of Hinata's character that I think gets brushed over a lot. You want to know why Hinata goes to Brazil, it's this right here, it's because he doesn't want Kageyama to leave him behind. And the craziest part of all of this is I think there are moments where Kageyama feels the same. Where he looks at Hinata and thinks "wow that's a monster I can't keep up with" except they're more sparing. I know they don't need it in the long run because they're them but I still kinda wish we had Kageyama react to Hinata's fears of insufficiency.

Really says something about the dire state of offerings for men interested in sewing their own clothes that even searching things like "interesting men's clothing patterns" brings up articles with links to four or five whole websites that primarily offer admittedly nice but practically identical patterns for making button-ups and work pants and maybe a varsity/bomber jacket if you're lucky.

(Branching out into historical costuming for everyday wear is like your one shot at variation, and even then, the ratio of men's to women's patterns on every website is frustrating to say the least.)

Patternmakers as a trans man I am begging you. Give me a little more to work with here.
