we give garp a lot of (rightly deserved) shit but unironically like 90% of the criticisms towards him i see not only ignore the wider worldbuilding context of one piece but also don't acknowledge how sengoku is like the worst friend ever

#like in the world of OP its fully acknowledged and present that most pirates are like Kidd (ie violent against normal citizens)#and Garp is stated to be one of the pillars preserving peace not unlike how Whitebeard also did #but even then theres like 4 moments in marineford off the top of my head where garp WAS gonna betray the Marines #and it was Sengoku holding him back snd trapping him each time #and even beyond all this one of the themes behind marineford is that they all chose their paths and have to live with the consequences #luffy and ace chose their paths knowing full well it would make garp their enemy and garp had his hands tied entirely at marineford #and even then garp let luffy pass him!! garp could have easily stopped luffy and didn't. like he did choose them in the end as well #anyways garp does absolutely deserve a sock in the jaw because he strikes me as someone who wanted to change the system from the inside #but he failed. and like for all that koby and smoker are 'good' marines theres also not nearly the same amount of criticism towards them for #yknow. working for the marines knowing full well theyre a horrible organization #in any case i want to punch garp and strangle sengoku. oh ace is too evil to leave alive but law is perfectly ok huh sengoku????#one piece #zerav meta #garp

OK SPOILERS I GUESS FOR BLACK OPS COLD WAR UNDER THE CUT BECAUSE I JUST DID THE HAVANA MISSION AND "BREAK ON THROUGH" AND I'M LITERALLY SO PRESSED RN??

I AM SO UPSET THEY MADE ME CHOOSE BETWEEN HELEN AND LAZAR WHAT EVEN WAS THAT WHY'D IT HAVE TO BE THOSE TWO THEY'RE LITERALLY MY FAVORITES OF THE NEWER CHARACTERS WHY

TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE THEY HAD CRAZY GOOD CHEMISTRY AND I WAS LITERALLY SITTING THERE THE WHOLE TIME DURING THAT MISSION THINKING "Dang y'all make a good couple y'all got it goin' on" BUT NO OF COURSE NOT THIS IS CALL OF DUTY WHERE NO ONE IS HAPPY AND GOOD ENDINGS DON'T EXIST AND LOVE IS A LIE

I struggled for like fifteen minutes just sitting there on the pause menu trying to pick UGHHH but I ended up going with Helen in the end simply because I think she can bring slightly more value to the team (NOT TO SAY LAZAR IS USELESS HE'S EXTREMELY HANDY AND VERY COOL AND I LOVE HIM) just because of her connection with MI6 and her ability to gather intel and all that good stuff and I'm just ever so slightly more attached to her as a character and I also got the impression Lazar really liked her a lot so I would've felt worse saving him and knowing he missed her like a crap ton so in the end I think I made the better decision

HOWEVER COMMA THEN WE HAVE "BREAK ON THROUGH" AND I'M LITERALLY SO MAD BC WDYM ADLER WAS LYING AND I LITERALLY DON'T EVEN KNOW THE GUY AND I HAD A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT LIFE AND I WAS THE GUY ARASH KADIVAR SHOT IN THE BEGINNING IN THE MISSION WITH WOODS AND MASON AND ADLER LIKE WHAT?? WDYM THOSE MEMORIES IN VIETNAM WEREN'T REAL?? WDYM I'VE ACTUALLY KNOWN ADLER FOR LIKE TWO DAYS AND NOT TWENTY YEARS?? Wdym HUDSON was actually RIGHT to be worried about me going into the Lubyanka building?????? HUDSON?? RIGHT ABOUT SOMETHING?? NUH-UH

Every now and then I remember the times I would mention to my flatmate that I was thinking of buying myself something reasonably expensive (that I had been eyeing up for months and had budgeted for) and she'd tell me that I shouldn't spend that much money on something I didn't need and it would be stupid etc etc while she regularly impulse bought things that cost at least as much and she would use once (while complaining that she was under a lot of financial stress and couldn't afford <$3/week for 2 months for a rental washing machine when ours broke). She is... perhaps not my first call for financial advice

#like I get that you're financially stressed but also it feels a bit rich to complain about it when you're on student allowance (not loan)#and your parents still contribute to things for you even though allowance is supposed to be for people whose parents can't afford to help #and you get multiple scholarships a year even though you're technically not eligible for half of them anymore but then as soon as the money #comes in from those you spend it all on a brand new dress for your sister's hen's do picnic because you can't wear the same dress as you #will for the actual hen's night or the wedding. Better buy a full price one at an expensive store instead of looking in a single op shop or #borrowing one from one of your three sisters who are all roughly the same size #god life must be so tough for you getting the same amount of money as the rest of us on student loan except you only have to pay back half #like the only money you have to live off is the same as what the rest of us get + scholarships (plural) plus what you earnt in your summer #internship? how could you possibly survive??#anyway I am NOT a fan of people who are like 'oh you say you have no money for rent but you have a phone?' because that's bullshit #and the whole 'millenials need to stop eating avocado toast so they can buy a house' thing is also bullshit #however. If you pay $60/week for a gym when you have access to the free uni one (or any other gym in the country is like $20)#and you buy uber eats multiple times a week for like $30+ each time despite having a premade meal in the fridge. and you get multiple #scholarships which mean you are arguably among the more well off students. AND you impulse buy things that cost over $100 regularly #then maybe the problem is not that you don't have enough money to split the rental costs of a washing machine (<$3 each/week)#maybe you are just bad with money #which is fine like it's not like it's unfixable it's just annoying when you act like you're worse off than people whose only money is what #they get from student loan each week so they eat beans on rice for dinner for a week #because that's all they could afford (yes I know people who did this. Yes she complained more than them)#so no I don't think I'm gonna be taking financial advice from you babes because one of us has entertained the idea of a budget to help with #finances and it's not you xx #(she turned down offers of financial help/advice/books to borrow from multiple people multiple times. I 100% get that you might not want to #talk to people about it especially your friends but we had multiple books on finances lying around the flat which she always said she didn't #need. And then she'd continue to complain that she didn't have enough money #god forbid you suggest something like going to a cheaper gym (or worse. The perfectly fine free uni gym!)#again. Her gym cost $60/week for most of last year until they brought in a student discount which was 'only' $45/week #the next most expensive gym chain I can find costs maybe $30/week for the highest membership level #to get what she was getting she would only need like a $20 membership #BUT to be fair she wouldn't get such strong culty vibes at any other gym #lol anyway sorry for the rant. I could keep going but apparently you can only have 30 tags and this is the last one

bruh I don't think people realize that in the dbz manga Vegeta is not combative with Bulma except for one (1) time and she ends up being so right about the situation that he just shuts the fuck up for the rest of the series akljdls

#when I tell you this man almost never argues with her (or anyone!!) in the manga and shuts all the way up after he loses to cell #He's a jerk in the way that he's pompous and dismissive and Mean-witted not volatile and loud -- that's super rare behavior in the manga #he *almost* exclusively yells at people when he's In Battle or it's Urgent -- with a few notable exceptions of him being Reactive #Like he's the first one to jump down Bulma's throat about her plan to destroy Gero's lab before the androids are done and it ends with him #getting his arrogant showboating ass beat twice in front of his kid and then his son getting killed and Gohan paying for his mistakes #And (short of an hour long relapse in a seven year period) he has been on Bulma's side ever since and it remains true throughout Super #When I tell you I do not know WHAT the anime is doing sadjasj Toriyama did not write Vegeta this well for Toei to do him so dirty so often #even in botg the reason he wasn't “at” Bulma's party is because Bulma's party was at Capsule Corp he was just in another building #and the reason he raised his voice at her was because she was drunk and chatting at him while he was trying to sense beerus #so everyone didn't Die #He's NEVER rude to Bulma when Toriyama writes him and the only time he was implied to be Bulma threw his ass out #and I'm always SO MAD when the anime writes 1) him being shitty to her and 2) her tolerating it like they don't Both Know #there's a whole alternate timeline that proves she's a perfectly capable single mother #get it together toei #anyway sorry i didn't tag you OP this was a silly post that got away from me and i didn't want to spam you with my angry tags aklsjdlkasjd #dbtag

It's fun to see how easier some things are as an experienced player rather than a newbie. I had SO much trouble with the snowboar king the first time I fought it, but here it's far less intimidating bc I actually know what I'm doing lol

Living with my mother's grants me the incredible ability to wake up already annoyed

#maybe its going from my name and pronouns being used 99% of the time #to never #maybe its the fact that my mother #who spent my childhood trying to convince me to get any girl she could think of to teach me how to be a girl #to now saying i was always so girly so i cant possibly be trans #and i look so womanly now except for my facial hair #so i should always shave my face so no one thinks im not a woman #even though i was gendered correctly by strangers most of the time where i used to live #regardless of facial hair #or even if i was wearing makeup or high heels or whatever #or the way shes completely rewritten my entire life to make it impossible for me to be trans #and thats why she won't gender me correctly #this also #coincidentally #erases anything in my childhood that she did less than perfectly #because of course shes never done anything wrong in her life #i dont think i can do this for 6 months #but i dont have anywhere else to go #op

i'm always so proud of people who are fighting so hard to try and be better. it's not always an easy thing. it's not always just realizing you made a mistake and you can apologize and learn to do better in the future. sometimes it's learning your whole worldview was painted for you, that you were raised to hurt yourself and others. breaking away from that is hard when it's the "reality" you've been living for possibly decades. you were actively shielded or punished from learning otherwise. here's to everyone who managed to escape and to everyone trying to escape a hateful reality.

this is an insane way to take something too personally but i am rereading ntn and am. secretly still mad/sad about one specific post from when it came out about how the Deep Wrongness we All Feel about paul is because within the gender framework of the book, it is about how being a transgender person who wants to cut their hair and have an androgynous body and leave behind their gendered history is Tempting But Deeply Wrong, an Intrinsic Falseness that if it could ever succeed makes you a Stranger To Your Family, not Good Real Authentic Transness which is Inherently Inescapably Historied And Messy and deep down we all know that and that’s why we all can agree that paul is a creepy fantasy that makes you feel bad

which, like, i get that op of that post was doing stuff about like. the literary meaning of paul in the context of the book and starting from explaining a feeling of uncanniness and also somewhat discussing their personal gender journey, but it did just um. honestly it hurt my feelings

#man i know it's about a Harmful Ideal of Androgyny and also a sci fi book and also one person's particular feelings #like i. i am wrong and uncharitable #and perfectly aware that i am doing the reading from the wrong direction #op did not mean that it is bad to like. care about being androgynous or want it or uh wish to mindmeld with your gf given the alternative of #oblivion. or whatever. in that none of those are on the table. just for an example #but you know. sometimes i am wrong permanently #also i guess cause i thought paul was like. fine #not great but not bad under the circumstances!
