The internal documentation details a messy and controversial process within Tumblr itself. One internal post made by Cyle Gage, a product manager at Tumblr, states that a query made to prepare data for OpenAI and Midjourney compiled a huge number of user posts that it wasn’t supposed to. It is not clear from Gage’s post whether this data has already been sent to OpenAI and Midjourney, or whether Gage was detailing a process for scrubbing the data before it was to be sent.

“the way the data was queried for the initial data dump to Midjourney/OpenAI means we compiled a list of all tumblr’s public post content between 2014 and 2023, but also unfortunately it included, and should not have included:

private posts on public blogs

posts on deleted or suspended blogs

unanswered asks (normally these are not public until they’re answered)

private answers (these only show up to the receiver and are not public)

posts that are marked ‘explicit’ / NSFW / ‘mature’ by our more modern standards (this may not be a big deal, I don’t know)

content from premium partner blogs (special brand blogs like Apple’s former music blog, for example, who spent money with us on an ad campaign) that may have creative that doesn’t belong to us, and we don’t have the rights to share with this-parties; this one is kinda unknown to me, what deals are in place historically and what they should prevent us from doing.”

Gage’s post makes clear that engineers are working on compiling a list of post IDs that should not have been included, and that password-protected posts, DMs, and media flagged as CSAM and other community guidelines violations were not included.

Automattic plans to launch a new setting on Wednesday that will allow users to opt-out of data sharing with third parties, including AI companies, according to the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, and internal documents. A new FAQ section we reviewed is titled “What happens when you opt out?” states that “If you opt out from the start, we will block crawlers from accessing your content by adding your site on a disallowed list. If you change your mind later, we also plan to update any partners about people who newly opt-out and ask that their content be removed from past sources and future training.” 

404 Media has asked Automattic how it accidentally compiled data that it shouldn’t share, and whether any of that content was shared with OpenAI, but did not immediately hear back from the company. 404 Media asked Automattic about an imminent deal with Midjourney last week but did not hear back then, either.

Another internal document shows that, on February 23, an employee asked in a staff-only thread, “Do we have assurances that if a user opts out of their data being shared with third parties that our existing data partners will be notified of such a change and remove their data?”

Andrew Spittle, Automattic’s head of AI replied: “We will notify existing partners on a regular basis about anyone who's opted out since the last time we provided a list. I want this to be an ongoing process where we regularly advocate for past content to be excluded based on current preferences. We will ask that content be deleted and removed from any future training runs. I believe partners will honor this based on our conversations with them to this point. I don't think they gain much overall by retaining it.” Automattic did not respond to a question from 404 Media about whether it could guarantee that people who opt out will have their data deleted retroactively.

Someone claiming to be a former Tumblr employee announced in a Tumblr blog post that the platform was working on a deal with Midjourney, and the rumor made it onto Blind, an app for verified employees of companies to anonymously discuss their jobs. 404 Media has seen the Blind posts, in which what seems like an Automattic employee says, “I'm not sure why some of you are getting worked up or worried about this. It's totally legal, and sharing it publicly is perfectly fine since it's right there in the terms & conditions. So, go ahead and spread the word as much as you can with your friends and tech journalists, it's totally fine.”

Separately, 404 Media viewed a public, now-deleted post by Gage, the product manager, where he said that he was deleting all of his images off of Tumblr, and would be putting them on his personal website. A still-live post says, “i've deleted my photography from tumblr and will be moving it slowly but surely over to cylegage.com, which i'm building into a photography portfolio that i can control end-to-end.” At one point last week, his personal website had a specific note stating that he did not consent to AI scraping of his images. Gage’s original post has been deleted, and his website is now a blank page that just reads “Cyle.” Gage did not respond to a request for comment from 404 Media. 

Several online platforms have made similar deals with AI companies recently, including Reddit, which entered into an AI content licensing deal with Google and said in its SEC filing last week that it’s “in the early stages of monetizing [its] user base” by training AI on users’ posts. Last year, Shutterstock signed a six year deal with OpenAI to provide training data.

OpenAI and Midjourney did not respond to requests for comment.

The Archive

Introduction On 14 June 2020, I accidentally deleted my tumblr, wiping out a blog that I had been maintaining since January 2011.  I was distraught due to losing a lot of fond memories – and crushed at the thought of so much of my writing disappearing.  I hadn’t been very disciplined about keeping offline back-ups of my work, so when my blog disappeared, so did a large collection of poems, short stories, vignettes and fanfics.

Over the last few years, I’ve steadily recovered a decent chunk of my writing (about 300 pieces) thanks to my friends reblogging my posts and being diligent with their tagging systems.  I’ve now been able to archive and remaster my poems and prose pieces – though my fanfiction remains in the ether (which, to be honest, I’m okay with). On that note, I would like to express immense gratitude to the people whose blogs I recovered my works from:

I know a lot of these bloggers either are no longer on tumblr or use these accounts (and tumblr wouldn't allow me to tag everyone?); even so, I want to share my thanks. And thank you to everyone else who read, shared or otherwise enjoyed my writing over the years.  I hope that it inspired deep feelings and I hope that it bought you comfort.  I want you to know that I wouldn’t still be pursuing writing if it wasn’t for all the support you sent my way.  I read and savoured your comments and tags and, I promise you, I am grateful for all the love I received. Methodology While it would have been simpler to reblog the old posts, save for those that were trapped under a Read More (and a fair few pieces fell into this category), for this archiving project, I opted to take the opportunity to edit my works (also, I didn’t particularly want to bombard my friends’ notes by reblogging ancient posts).  This gave me a chance to appropriately re-format some works which had, unfortunately, originally looked quite ugly! The editing process was incredibly interesting – I ended up making changes to almost all my posts, so it’s good to know that I’ve definitely grown as a reader and writer over the last decade.  A very small number of the posts were brand new for the blog, but at this stage, I’m happy to count them as part of my archive.  For me, it’s important to compartmentalise and draw a divide between the writing I shared then and the writing that I will, hopefully, go on to pen in the future. I’m still in the process of proofreading: some of my tags have typos and there are certainly some errant dashes, among other issues, here and there.  Nevertheless, I’m satisfied with the state of things for now. Some posts are titled [‘Circa …’].  If I had been savvier about using tumblr mobile in conjunction with the web version, I could have recovered all of the exact dates of my original posts.  However, what’s done is done and I am satisfied with what I was able to accomplish. Statistics I love numbers – here are some interesting graphs regarding my posts:

Spyro 3 - The GameSpot Build and Lost Media

I've been actively researching and documenting early builds of Spyro 3 for something like 7 or 8 years now, and while I feel like I've made a significant impact, there's always going to be people that have never seen any the content that I've helped to document - so, every now and then, I get the urge to infodump about one piece of my research to a new group of people, to help make sure that the documentation I've done isn't only known to a very small group of people... that'd defeat the purpose of documentation, to an extent, I think.

Sometimes, outreach ends up being extremely important to the research and preservation of prerelease content - and this is no better exemplified than with Spyro 3's "GameSpot build".

On June 23rd, 2000, several websites and publications revealed early previews of Spyro: Year of the Dragon - this date was probably some sort of online embargo date.

The "April preview", an early build which seems to match the one used at E3 2000, was used by most of these publications. A few of them, according to accounts from those that wrote the previews, received exclusive gameplay sessions from the likes of Mark Cerny - these previews apparently took place quite close to the embargo date and certainly would have used a later build than the April one. We know that IGN received one of these sessions (but, according to the author of the preview article, was allegedly unable to record gameplay during this session, which resulted in IGN having to use the same build everyone else did in their preview articles), and it's a pretty safe bet that GameSpot did, too. In GameSpot's case, we actually got to see what this build looked like:

As expected, it's a later build than the April prototype - this one seems to be from around the same point in development as the earliest demo disc version, though we're not sure if it's an earlier build or a later one. Three main characteristics stick out in these screenshots:

We don't ever see what the eggs looked like in this build, but the fragments use this bizarre ornate gold texture.

The HUD uses a green egg sprite similar to some of the eggs seen in the April build; the earliest demo disc version also uses this sprite.

For some reason, transparent polygons are a solid black colour, making some screenshots look sort of ominous and weird.

Perhaps the weirdest thing about this build is that the gold egg fragments it uses, which to most players would be completely unrecognisable and unlike anything they've ever seen before, actually do appear in the final game. And they hatch from every egg in the entire game. In most cases, the fragment flies off screen before the player can spot it.

The earliest demo build, which seems to be from around May 25th, 2000, does not include this texture at all, which has called into question the timeline placement of the GameSpot build. On one hand, they might've used the final egg texture momentarily, switched to the gold one, and switched back, accidentally leaving one of the textures intact. On the other hand, there have been cases in many Spyro builds of random early assets weeding their way back into the game via means that we don't really understand. Look no further than the August 27th, 1998 localisation prototype of Spyro the Dragon, a post-final build which inexplicably re-uses an early Gnasty Gnorc model, textures, and animations, from around 2 months earlier in development:

The info we have on this build doesn't just stop at screenshots, though! GameSpot kindly uploaded 5 videos of the build - labelled "Movie 2" through "Movie 6" (thanks GameSpot. that's not confusing at all) - to their website. Most of these videos were later temporarily put behind a paywall, and in 2014, 4 of these videos were deleted during a server move, with only Movie 2 (the one never put behind a paywall) remaining. The one movie that remained didn't even play properly in GameSpot's video player for years, so I had to download the video from the API to view it at all:

While the video is an important piece of history, and did reveal to us that the early Sgt. Byrd theme heard in some old IGN videos of the April preview had a previously unheard guitar section (this was prior to the public release of the April preview), it doesn't tell us very much new about the build. If we really wanted to more precisely date the build, we'd need to know what the eggs looked or sounded like - but the egg collection section was entirely cut from the video. As of yet, we just don't have this information.

As for Movies 3 - 6? These are now lost media. They were up on the site for 14 years, we know that people saw them, and I suspect there were people that downloaded them. However, since they were deleted nearly 10 years ago, nobody has come forward to say that they have one of the videos and to show what was in it. Anyone that does come forward with this info should be met with some scepticism, of course, but I think the only way we'll ever see more of this build is with a greater outreach and more widespread knowledge of the missing videos - the videos were readily downloadable from the website, and so someone still has the videos, I'm sure.

And before anyone asks, yes, the WayBack Machine has been very extensively searched for these videos - we can't find them, there's just no trace of them on there.

Judging by the video descriptions, Movie 3 would have focused on Bentley, Movie 4 on either Sheila or Agent 9, and Movies 5 and 6 on Spyro gameplay.

I've only ever encountered one person who claims to have seen these videos, and whether they're to be believed or not, they claimed that one of the videos showed Sunny Villa using Fireworks Factory's theme (levels using the wrong themes was very common in early builds of these games! Additionally, Fireworks Factory's theme is very likely to have been present around this point in development), and another showed Agent 9 gameplay using a track that didn't sound very Spyro-like, but more like "something from James Bond".

When the April preview released later on, it was discovered that early Spyro 3 builds actually do have a number of entirely non-Spyro themes, all by µ-Ziq and Propellerheads, left unused in their soundtrack data. The tracks in these builds seem to line up with the levels present in an earlier build of the game, and by this metric, it seems that "Spybreak!", a theme from the Matrix soundtrack, would have (fittingly?) lined up with Agent 9's Lab, and possibly would have been used in that level in internal development builds. Sure enough, my contact agreed that this was the theme they heard, when I sent them the track - if this is indeed the case, then this build is very very weird indeed.

It remains to be seen whether we'll ever learn anything new about this build, but we can only hope. I've linked to an archived 7z file containing all the screenshots uploaded to GameSpot below, as well as a link to a TCRF article detailing some of the known differences spotted in this build:

“You’re my son and I love you. Remember that, Alexei. I am so proud of you.” A hoarse voice called in his head, the woman on the other side not looking a day older than 24.

“I love you Mum.”

With tears streaming down his face in his office, Alexei felt his mother’s mind fade out like a candle blowing out.

“Dr Y/L/N.” A knock sounded before a voice called out. “Dr Y/L/N, Anna’s mother is asking for you.”

“I’ll be right there.” Alexei cleared his throat and hastily wiped the tears from his face. He left his office and made his way down to paediatrics. “I’ll make you proud, Mum.”

“My whole life I felt like I was different form everybody else and I didn’t know why. You took a choice away from me that I didn’t even know I had. A choice to be a hero. Like my dad.”

Elsewhere in Central City, Nora began running through the streets in an attempt to time travel. Her movements sent her and an unwilling Alexei 32 years back in time to 2017 and Iris & Barry’s wedding.

Present Time

“Save her? Your mother was a villain?” Nora exclaimed, stepping away from Alexei.

“No. My mother was not.” Alexei corrected.

“Then why would you need to save her?!” Nora asked, raising her voice.

“Because no matter if you’re a hero or a villain. Civilian or Officer. People get hurt. And you, Allen, you hurt more than anyone! You hurt her!” Alexei exclaimed, waving his hands as he spoke.

“Look when you do the things they do, people get hurt. There’s going to be collateral damage.” Nora said, taking a deep breath to calm herself down.

“My mother is not collateral damage!” Alexei yelled, anger bubbling and he began to accidentally project.

“Don’t yell at her!” The group yelled at Alexei.

“Stay out of this! It has nothing... NOTHING! To do with you. Right now at least but I have things to say to you.” Alexei snapped, saying the last bit to Iris before turning back to Nora. “Why are we here, West-Allen? Huh?”

“....” Nora said nothing in response, jaw clenched.

“Oh... You want your father back.” Alexei snarked, eyes blazing. “Isn’t that right?”

“Don’t.” Nora whispered, tears in her eyes.

“You’re pathetic.” He snarled. “I can’t save my mother from pain but you can change the timeline!”

“Don’t talk to her like that!” Iris snapped back, causing Alexei to spin around to glare at her.

“And you! Iris West-Allen.” Alexei’s voice went cold, shivers running down everyone’s spine. “You must think so highly of yourself!”

“What?” Iris questioned, though she had a feeling that it was to do with Y/N.

“Burning the letters and the photographs. Deleting all the texts and emails. Not even inviting her to your wedding. Talk about petty.”

“What letters? From whom?” Barry asked Iris before looking at Alexei for answers. “Who didn’t you invite to our wedding?”

“Letters from Y/N.” Alexei replied, not even sparing Barry a glance. “My mother didn’t get a single invite to your wedding but you managed to go to another Earth to get guests.”

“... Y/N said that she sent letters and photographs to Alexei’s dad but never got a reply.” Cisco whispered, the group turning to him in shock.

“When?” Barry asked, hoping that it was still the future.

“They started in 2014.” Alexei spoke, Barry’s heart breaking in the process.

“I... I have a son? I’m your dad?” Barry whispered, walking up to Alexei.

“No. No...” Alexei stepped back, refuting. “You are not my father! My father is Abe Parker, my mother’s husband!”

“Y/N is married?” Caitlin asked, Cecile, Ralph, Wally and Joe having a conversation about who Y/N was.

“She was. Until you decided to erase Flashpoint! Erasing my dad and my little sister!”

“...How do you...?” Barry questioned, stuttering.

“How do I what? Remember?” Alexei explained. “My mother remembers. Remembers every time the timeline changes! She remembers every time she dies!”

“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” Barry whispered, tears streaming down his face.

“Sorry?! She loved you! She cared more for your happiness than her own! She’s dying and she still cares about you!” Alexei ranted.

“Loved?” Barry whispered, Iris snarling at this.

“Did you know that your dad was at Mum’s that day he died? He met me... He said that your mum and him had already planned your wedding to mum because she loved you so much. But you didn’t even give her another look.” Alexei said, walking away. 

“Where are you going?” Alexei heard a voice call out before simply replying.

“To Mum’s.” 

With the door wide open, they watched Alexei walk down the driveway and enter a house two doors down. The house had been the Y/L/N’s house for years and never once had they realised Y/N had lived there all this time. They watched her front door open and reveal Y/N smiling brightly, young Alexei running towards Y/N and grinning up at future Alexei.

“Welcome back.” Y/N greeted, smiling and walking her and her 3-year old son back inside. All of a sudden, Y/N gripped her head in pain, collapsing to the ground. Both Alexei yelled before the older of the two turned to his 3-year old counterpart.

“Lex. When I say, run down to that house there and say ‘Snow, help mum.’ Got it?” Young Alexei nodded. The ground began to shake and figures began to form. “Now!”

Young Alexei ran to the house future Alexei had pointed out and knocked on the door. The door opened quickly and teary-eyed Barry looked down at Alexei in shock.

“Snow. Help. Mama.” Alexei whispered before collapsing into Barry’s arms.

Tumblr and Wordpress are preparing to sell user data to Midjourney and OpenAI, according to a source with internal knowledge about the deals and internal documentation referring to the deals.

The exact types of data from each platform going to each company are not spelled out in documentation we’ve reviewed, but internal communications reviewed by 404 Media make clear that deals between Automattic, the platforms’ parent company, and OpenAI and Midjourney are imminent.

The internal documentation details a messy and controversial process within Tumblr itself. One internal post made by Cyle Gage, a product manager at Tumblr, states that a query made to prepare data for OpenAI and Midjourney compiled a huge number of user posts that it wasn’t supposed to. It is not clear from Gage’s post whether this data has already been sent to OpenAI and Midjourney, or whether Gage was detailing a process for scrubbing the data before it was to be sent.

Gage wrote:

“the way the data was queried for the initial data dump to Midjourney/OpenAI means we compiled a list of all tumblr’s public post content between 2014 and 2023, but also unfortunately it included, and should not have included:

private posts on public blogs

unanswered asks (normally these are not public until they’re answered)

posts on deleted or suspended blogs

private answers (these only show up to the receiver and are not public)

posts that are marked ‘explicit’ / NSFW / ‘mature’ by our more modern standards (this may not be a big deal, I don’t know)

content from premium partner blogs (special brand blogs like Apple’s former music blog, for example, who spent money with us on an ad campaign) that may have creative that doesn’t belong to us, and we don’t have the rights to share with this-parties; this one is kinda unknown to me, what deals are in place historically and what they should prevent us from doing.”

Gage’s post makes clear that engineers are working on compiling a list of post IDs that should not have been included, and that password-protected posts, DMs, and media flagged as CSAM and other community guidelines violations were not included.

Automattic plans to launch a new setting on Wednesday that will allow users to opt-out of data sharing with third parties, including AI companies, according to the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, and internal documents. A new FAQ section we reviewed is titled “What happens when you opt out?” states that “If you opt out from the start, we will block crawlers from accessing your content by adding your site on a disallowed list. If you change your mind later, we also plan to update any partners about people who newly opt-out and ask that their content be removed from past sources and future training.”

404 Media has asked Automattic how it accidentally compiled data that it shouldn’t share, and whether any of that content was shared with OpenAI, but did not immediately hear back from the company. 404 Media asked Automattic about an imminent deal with Midjourney last week but did not hear back then, either.

Another internal document shows that, on February 23, an employee asked in a staff-only thread, “Do we have assurances that if a user opts out of their data being shared with third parties that our existing data partners will be notified of such a change and remove their data?”

Andrew Spittle, Automattic’s head of AI replied: “We will notify existing partners on a regular basis about anyone who's opted out since the last time we provided a list. I want this to be an ongoing process where we regularly advocate for past content to be excluded based on current preferences. We will ask that content be deleted and removed from any future training runs. I believe partners will honor this based on our conversations with them to this point. I don't think they gain much overall by retaining it.” Automattic did not respond to a question from 404 Media about whether it could guarantee that people who opt out will have their data deleted retroactively.

News about a deal between Tumblr and Midjourney has been rumored and speculated about on Tumblr for the last week. Someone claiming to be a former Tumblr employee announced in a Tumblr blog post that the platform was working on a deal with Midjourney, and the rumor made it onto Blind, an app for verified employees of companies to anonymously discuss their jobs. 404 Media has seen the Blind posts, in which what seems like an Automattic employee says, “I'm not sure why some of you are getting worked up or worried about this. It's totally legal, and sharing it publicly is perfectly fine since it's right there in the terms & conditions. So, go ahead and spread the word as much as you can with your friends and tech journalists, it's totally fine.”

Separately, 404 Media viewed a public, now-deleted post by Gage, the product manager, where he said that he was deleting all of his images off of Tumblr, and would be putting them on his personal website. A still-live post says, “i've deleted my photography from tumblr and will be moving it slowly but surely over to cylegage.com, which i'm building into a photography portfolio that i can control end-to-end.” At one point last week, his personal website had a specific note stating that he did not consent to AI scraping of his images. Gage’s original post has been deleted, and his website is now a blank page that just reads “Cyle.” Gage did not respond to a request for comment from 404 Media.

Several online platforms have made similar deals with AI companies recently, including Reddit, which entered into an AI content licensing deal with Google and said in its SEC filing last week that it’s “in the early stages of monetizing [its] user base” by training AI on users’ posts. Last year, Shutterstock signed a six year deal with OpenAI to provide training data.

OpenAI and Midjourney did not respond to requests for comment.

I'm sick of Emma's fans coming up with the picture of her bruised knees to say Evan did that to her. Really?! Evan, a man twice Emma's size and strength, hit her (according to them), but on the day of the arrest she shows no signs of assault, yet Evan, who, I repeat, twice Emma's size and strength, could not defend himself or stop her from biting him and giving him a bloody nose. I like Emma am a thin boned person, my legs are very thin and I can tell you that throughout my life I have had small bruises from accidental bumps, you know bumping into furniture, or even bruises that I don't even know how they appeared. But I've also gotten very, very big bruises, obviously from much, much harder accidental bumps or very hard falls that I've had. For example a few months ago I was helping my brother to carry a sack of sugar, very heavy, suddenly I started to get a cramp in one of my feet, which made me lose concentration, I was about to let go of the part of the sack that I was holding but still I could not prevent the weight of the sack to overcome me, and for not letting go I fell very hard on my knees, which caused me big bruises on both knees. But, on the other hand, another huge bruise that I have had throughout my life, was due to an aggression. Around 2014-2015, my father kicked me in the leg, one kick was enough to leave a big bruise on the back of my right leg, the size of the bruise was bigger than the palm of my hand, you may be wondering if I reported it, no I did not. Anyway my point here is: If, Evan who doubles Emma in size and strength did those bruises to Emma (according to her fans) either with punches or kicks for example, I assure you those bruises would be big, much, much bigger, more and very colorful (huge on a small person like Emma) and perfectly visible that it would be impossible to deny that someone or Evan (according to them) caused them. And bruises don't take long to appear whether they are small or big, accidental or from aggression. I took a picture of the bruise on my leg back then but deleted it weeks later because I saw no point in keeping it. At times like this I wish I hadn't deleted it, but I googled for a picture that might resemble what my bruise looked like.

That picture perfectly represents what my leg looked like, the only difference is that in the picture, the bruise is on the crotch, mine was on the back of the leg. ER fans keep speculating about Evan being weird or violent based on the characters he plays. No dear ones, someone violent and willing to hurt you is not going to pinch your knees, someone violent is going to leave big bruises, someone like that is going to bite you and make you bleed from the nose.

Will forever hate streaming services and streaming music, because someone can literally take that away from you, or change it in a hot second, and it pisses me off because one day, one of my favorite bands just decides to remove every single older album except for their ONE recent album, because they’re apparently changing themselves up. And even though I still have a few of their older albums on my music list, they are nowhere to be found on iTunes. Nowhere.

So if I decided to delete that shit, or even accidentally do so, they are gone. Period. You cannot buy them again.

Not to mention another artist decided to change their album cover, and I kept wondering when I bought this album, or who tf hacked my phone, until I realized it’s the same one I’ve been listening to since 2014…

It’s been 7 years since I posted (reposted) anything. Going back through the few posts that survived my random panic induced deleting slaughter has been fascinating.

I’m still in awe about the Taylor Swift lyric I posted about my husband one random night… one random night in 2014, later our wedding night in 2018. We picked that date at random, I liked what it looked liked on paper and we decided it “felt right.” lol

What’s your favourite type of survey to take? A collection of random questions that’ll make me answer beyond a yes or no, but also not make me reflect and give an entire thesis of an answer. As a kid I was always the party pooper screaming for the attendant to stop operating the rides because I was dizzy or nauseous or scared or whatever, until I just accepted that theme parks just aren’t for me. Well, except for the food stalls.

Where are you right now? Describe the room or place. I’m in my bedroom which has been recently renovated, now housing my loft bed. The stairs to the bed double as shelves, where I meant to house my K-pop merch but ended up housing merely my BTS coffees (I bought way too many as a newer fan); the rest of the merch – albums, DVDs, photobooks, etc – are on the shelves on my TV stand. Underneath the bed is my work station and my makeshift mini couch which is really just a couple of foldable mattreses.

Do you keep notes on your phone? What sort of things do you write? Minutes from work meetings, mostly. I also started a thing this year where every social media post from a BTS member requires me to save a particular amount of money hahaha, so I use my Notes app to track the daily posts then transfer them to a spreadsheet where it does the calculation for me.

Have you ever used Duolingo to learn another language? I used it to learn Spanish during the peak of the pandemic. I got pretty far, but found the tenses too difficult and stopped from there.

Do you remember much from high school? Not really. Back in college I did a major oopsie and accidentally permanently deleted my entire camera roll, so I’ve virtually no photo/video record from 2014-2017 – the biggest factor in my not-remembering-much-from-high-school. Then there is also the fact that all 4 years were spent with my ex as my best friend, and my mind has done a fantastic job wiping out those memories as well, so.

Are you one of those people who like to eat at restaurants a lot? I do like dining in at restaurants especially if with company, but since everyone I know is constantly busy or has plans, I don’t get to do it as much as I’d want to. I just make up for it and make sure I get to regularly try new food (a personal goal) by getting food delivery.

Have you ever been out on the ocean in a rather small boat?  Yeah. I can’t remember which province it was, but we were headed to a city you can only get to by boat, hence the boat ride. I was fine, but can’t say the same for a number of people there who didn’t fare as well.

When was the last time you went swimming? Who did you go with, if anyone?  Last December. I was with my family on a weekend beach trip to Zambales.

Do you like going to the beach, or do you not really care to go?  I love the beach and used to enjoy solely the actual concept of beaches; but now that I’m older I feel like I now enjoy the culture of the general vicinity more so than the beach. Like I prefer going to places with a little bit of nightlife in it; I wouldn’t enjoy as much if I was at a remote resort with a private beach, with nothing happening.

What are your parents’ names? Are you named after either of them?  I’m not sharing those, but I can confirm that I’m not named after my parents.

When did you buy this?  On the day of Seonho’s fanmeet I rushed to a hardware store to get batteries for the lightstick I meant to buy at the merch stand. What are three things to you that are really worth the wait in life?  Weathering through your darker periods in life to attain happiness in the end; ignoring leaked movies/albums and waiting for their actual release date; and on a more personal level, having to spend the next two years waiting for BTS to come out of their hiatus. 2025 is gonna be a (tearful) RIOT (and reunion).

Is there any sound everyone else finds weird, yet you find nice?  ASMR chewing sounds. Nearly everyone I know hates the eating ASMRs whereas it’s really the only kind I find worth watching til the end ha.

Were you always one of those kids who got in trouble with everyone around?  Not at all; it was the opposite. I was really shy as a kid and barely made a move. I liked to be invisible.

When was the last time you took a nap? Did it relax you any?  Yeah, I took a siesta this afternoon. I slept at 4 AM the night before so it was very relaxing, but waking up was shit because I woke up with my entire back sweating.

Can you text quickly?  Yeah. A fast-paced job helps you with that.

Do you like fast food or does it disgust you?  Depends on the restaurant. I’ve never seen a clean KFC or Chowking branch, but I’ll happily order at a McDonald’s.

What’s your favourite shop?  I don’t have one. I don’t shop much.

Have you got a hairdresser that you can trust? Yep.

Are you a deep or light sleeper? I’m sort of a weird case because I can be on both ends of the spectrum. I can sleep through a relatively intense earthquake or noisy conversations, but like if I have to wake up early I can also automatically wake up like 10 minutes before my alarm rings, without fail.

Do you wear a lot of make up? Nope. If I do it’s very light and I keep it to the basics. Just foundation, concealer on my acne scars, and the lightest hint of blush and eyeshadow that no one is probably ever able to make out.

Do you get nervous before exams? Yeah, it was a constant feeling I went through for every exam, whether if I knew I was prepared for the test or was just planning to wing it.

Does the weather influence your mood? I can be impatient and not the happiest camper if it’s very sunny and hot out.

Who was the last person you kissed? My last partner.

What’s your favourite alcoholic drink? Peach soju. For cocktails, Long Island Iced Tea.

Do you watch Big Brother? No, I never understood the hype.

Have you ever had to spend the night at a hospital?  Yes once, when I had a really low platelet count. I was admitted the same time as my sister, for which I really felt for my mom as she was understandably deathly worried at the time and ended up losing weight over those two days.

Are you currently trying to get over someone?  Nope.

Have you ever dated someone with longer hair than yours?  Yes.

Have you ever bought clothing online?  A few times, yes.

Have you ever worn flip flops in the snow?   I have never experienced snow.

How old were you when you met your first love?  I knew them since I was 4 but we didn’t become friends until we were 13. Started dating at 16.

Are you big on partying? I’m not big on the culture, i.e. I have to be at a bar/club every Friday, but I’m definitely always down if my friends plan something or if I get an invite.

Last time you saw fireworks? With who?  Right after our New Year’s Eve mass when our church had a quick fireworks show. I was with my family.

Anything hurting?  Shoulders. I think I’ve been having shit postures in bed recently as I’m always waking up in utterrrrrrrr pain.

Were you happy when you woke up today?  Not really. More dazed and disoriented as I had stayed up til 4 AM reading fanfic haha.

What mood are you in right now?  There’s a bit of paranoia and anxiety creeping in as it’s a Sunday evening and I have to work again tomorrow...but I’m trying to push it aside and remind myself that I can choose to enjoy what’s left of my free time instead.

Are you mad at anyone right now?  Nah, no reason to be.

What are you currently hearing right now?  The quiet hum from my (now bladeless!!!) electric fan.

How much clothes do you have in your closet? Enough, but like 70% of them I don’t even wear anymore so technically I don’t have a big enough selection. I try to get new clothes at least once a month so that I get to build on what’s my current style these days.

Are you good at hiding your emotions?  My face reveals everything, so no. It can be both a good and bad thing.

Who is the last person you talked to on the phone?  Hans. We were gonna meet up for dinner at our favorite Korean place and he just called to ask me where I was and what my ETA was.

Do you regret anything from your past?  Things here and there, yep.

Last argument?  I can’t remember. I don’t like getting into arguments.

Have you ever regretted letting someone go? For a time after it happened, yeah. With the clarity that comes from years’ distance from the emotional fallout, definitely not. < Same.

Who was the last person to compliment you?  I’m not sure. Maybe Celeste after I presented a pitch? She said something along the lines of “crushed it!” a few days ago.

Who would you really like to become better friends with?  Lea. We got to spend time together last Wednesday when we watched Yet to Come, and she’s a really great person to be around! We talked for like 5 hours straight and even then it wasn’t enough. I’m glad we were able to reconnect.
