I try not to engage in any arguments on instagram because no matter what's the discussion about, I have a furry pfp and pronouns in my bio so it would always eventually just turn into people bullying me or being straight up transphobic and/or ableist. And honestly it's gotta be good for my mental health, not arguing with people online, me being openly a furry prevents me from getting into pointless arguments 👍

I kinda hopped into the dc fandom by reading fics (I know I know lmao)
But as I've read more comics and looked into different characterization and analysis I now have a more developed idea as to how I view a lot of the characters and have preferences to how their written. I'm def the type to click out a fic if I find myself thinking 'he would not fucking say that'
Anyway this is just to say it's very funny to me when I go thru some of the fics I bookmarked at the begining of my interest and find myself going Uh Oh! I don't think I can read this anymore!

hmmm im as willing to immediately go gamlen is a slimy snake as anyone but i feel like. its also kind of. :/. he really couldve just left you there at the gallows or given you enough coin to get you to go tf somewhere else. he does make the effort to like. try get you INTO kirkwall. and he's BEEN trying. and leandra is just. fussed about the estate. like... hello. one of your kids died. and we've been in the gallows for the past three days with no way forward and no way to go anywhere else. theyre going to send us BACK to ferelden in the middle of a blight if we dont get the fuck out of here. and i dont even know what we've been EATING; we have nothing to sell, nothing to trade???
and like. the implications are that you're working off both the debt of like. paying off enough people that hawke, leandra, the twin, aveline, and their dog too, can get into kirkwall. and also whatever debt gamlen incurred with meeran or athenril but i really dont think, comparatively to the amount of bribery required at this point, that his debt is going to outweigh the $$$ of getting all of us in. and both athenril and meeran are clearly looking to squeeze as much use out of an apostate as they can which i think is what's adding to the Amount of Time you're working with them, not necessarily the Amount of money you're working off???
idk man. gamlen does suck eggs because he's a massive raging homophobic misogynist. not because he's like. bad at money management. or cares enough to try get you into the city and share his house with you for years WITHOUT rent despite never having met any of you and being compared negatively to leandra his entire life. but its weird to me how its framed even early on as ugh gamlen youre unbelievable for making us have to work to get into kirkwall instead of just already having the money to do it and put us up in a cushy house.

actually making my tags from my last post into their own post. writers who struggle with grammar, spelling, typos, errors etc i love you. writers who struggle with rereading their stuff thoroughly no matter how much they try, who don't always have access to other people to help them read i love you. whilst reading through and checking for these things is good practice i really believe that the weight of it should not be put wholly on the writer's shoulders. especially writers who are neurodivergent, disabled, have any condition that can impede their reading + comprehension, are overworked and overtired, are not writing in their native language, list goes on....because grammar mistakes/language mistakes/typos have nothing to do with your abilities as a creative. this is where editors should be uplifting writers, helping them, not scrutinising them for something they cannot always control

why doesn't talon like looking young?
dis was gonna be in the little lore write up but i still have to iron out many details surrounding it ➡️ connecting to my general vampire lore....anyway the answer is abuse at the hands of higher rank vampires and mortal men who sought out young "boys" just like him + also he already hated that he would never get to age bc people would treat him weird even before all that (as in, they'd just treat him like he was stupid because he looks so young)

re:hbomberguy, on the topic of citing sources, i want to say:
it is insane how many people on here don't even click the sources op links on their own post to learn more and just hit reblog saying "oh my i didn't know about this thank you for teaching me!". like guys CLICK THE LINK!! CHECK THE NOTES!!! CHECK THE SOURCE!.... i swear half the time the link is dead or takes you to a nonsense page (i see this a lot with art specifically???? and excerpts from magazines??) and some times the linked source disproves a claim the very post that linked it made and people just. don't bother to check, no one bothers to even reblog saying "hey that link is dead! here's a new, working link!" or "hey that link doesn't work, can you link the source again?" and when it comes to misinformation people just share without checking or looking at the notes where numerous people will (in the best case scenario) already be pointing out the misinformation
"OH BUT I CAN'T CHECK EVERYTHING I SEE ON THE INTERNET" there is a surefire way to prevent spreading this kind of stuff even if you don't have the time to fact check immediately. just accept it's fine to save a post for later if you can't look deeper into it right now!!!!! literally just reblog it in private or save the post as a draft so you can come back to it later and check. it won't kill you and in fact it will actually make your life a lot better lol

You know, I'm glad that some of us take the step to embrace things that we like even if they're "cringe" or "objectively bad"
But perhaps we could take the next step forward and embrace the idea of reading into books/shows/movies/etc even if they don't seem deep. Perhaps we could understand that the two kinds of media aren't either "shallow and meaningless so you're weird and brainrotted to read into it" or "incredibly and profoundly deep in every way so if you don't analyze every single angle of the thing then you're brainrotted". Some media is deeper than others, but all I propose is that no matter how deep it seems it's acceptable to dig into the thing and take the media seriously instead of just assuming that because of ____ thing (such as target audience or how cringe it is) the media not deep and will never be deep and everything good about it happened on accident.

Heya! Saw your cry for a distraction and honestly such a mood.
I've got a question!
What's your least favorite thing to draw/do when you make art?
I'm on my own art journey right now and kind of dread the transition from lineart to coloring.
Trying to study anatomy right now and ignore rendering but I'm curious what other artists feel is challenging or just like 'ugh, ok time for [x]'
OHHH in terms of what's challenging, for me it's definitely coloring, rendering, backgrounds, and composition HAHA (<- chronic flat colors user who only draws character art on a floating white background)
i love focusing on gesture and lines when i draw ^_^ i rely mostly on intuition for the other stuff but it really only takes u so far T_T i'll spend hours trying to fix something by trial and error when i probably couldve saved that time by putting in more conscious studying/practice lol

I shouldn’t have to explain it this way but maybe it will help. You can be healed but not fixed. You can be better but not how you were. We accept this for physical wounds - no one bats an eye when someone says they’re limping because of an old sports injury flaring up. Even when it’s better and you’re healed and you mostly don’t think about the time you fucked up your shoulder playing high school softball or even the time you spent playing softball anymore, every once in a while it flares up and it hurts for a few days or a week and then it drops back into the background. And people just get that and accept it. But somehow when the wound is emotional or mental once it's "better" that's it and it's somehow wrong or weird for those feelings to flare up?
