1. current musical obsession: Frank Ocean and related sort of neo-r&b stuff - while writing this im also discovering Childish Gambino’s “Awaken, My Love!” (and also the song Golden Brown, but not bc im listening to it but bc im learning it on both guitar and piano)

2. 3 things i always take with me:

3. what (or who) i miss most in lockdown: i dont rly remember? im so used to the situation by now that i kind of forget to miss what i did when things were “normal”... but i guess going to bars w/ friends, and just being able to go shopping when i need smth

4. pick: either only read 1 book or only read books picked by someone else: i wouldn’t be able to only read one book for the rest of my life! so definitely the second option (esp if i can pick the person who picks the books)

- i think the hard dichotomy btwn white/black magic or like light/dark and good/bad in most fiction is often v flawed bc thats not how the world works, everything is grey areas (e.g. the Jedi are not better than the Sith, both have deeply flawed philosophies). the Force (or any magic for that matter) is not inherently good or evil, it just is. nature isnt abt good or evil, isnt abt opposites but abt balance.

and especially if you work with the occult and magical, i think thats all abt walking the edge between light and dark, life and death, night and day, good and bad etc…

so to answer the question: grey magic lmao, its all abt balance

- teleportation i think, bc while flying is very cool, i think teleportation has more practical uses (although also has danger involved, such as what happens if you teleport into a space that is already occupied by a person or an object? but for the sake of argument, prolly teleportation)

- do not even get me started on time travel.. the implications of time travel to the past are…… complicated to say the least (it only works if you believe in hard determinism, which i wholly do not). so in a practical sense, def to the future (although that is also Problematic within the constraints of our four-dimensional universe/experience).

in a philosophical sense though, ignoring all the paradoxes and laws of time and space, id still pick the future (or maybe no time travel at all), bc i think the past is the past for a reason. we remember it, we learn from it, but ultimately we must leave it behind.

my philosophical problem with traveling to the future is more that you cant just. skip life. so if you travel to the future, it has to be way beyond your own life and direct influence, or youll interfere with yourself and your own future, and thats scientifically, psychologically /and/ philosophically a v bad idea all round, i think.

9. which thoughts keep me awake at night: almost never specific thoughts, but quite often anxiety abt the near future. but theres no like, lingering issues that keep me awake.

10. what id do with you if we were locked up together for 24hrs: i think i’d really like to write with you! make poetry, song lyrics, make art! bc we could rly learn from each other i think and also we could just rly pick each others brain abt mundane, important and transcendental stuff ya know?

anyway my like last/second to last reblog made me think about this so caesar crusader au woot woot also it got kinda long so here’s a cut for those who dont wanna scroll through all that <3 also i didnt proofread so sorry i just dont care enough </3

first things first let me get the set up;; caesar joseph nd suzi all live in the same house u can interpret it as ot3 or just caejose and suzi is there to vibe w them and help joseph convince caesar to get into trouble, it’s however u want it

then either cause ot3 or suzi agrees 2 be a surrogate, holly is born, joseph’s still the dad like genetically but she’s raised by all three of em essentially and still ends up just as bubbly as she is in canon, except there is no absolute fuckign way she doesnt know hamon because caesar would never, and i mean NEVER, let his kid grow up w/o such a useful trick up her sleeve

then holly gets married, joseph embarrasses both suzi and caesar by how hostile he is towards sadao, caesar is more likely to cuff him over the head bc of it, so there’s that. doesnt change much ig but makes joseph thinks a LITTLE bit more before lashing out JKF;JFJ;S

jotaro comes along and he is caesar’s BOY ok. caesar just gets him. his quiet and calm demeanor (ik caesar isnt necessarily like that in general but around kids he is and as he gets older he’d give off that vibe more as he mellows out) made jotaro feel rlly relaxed around him and as a result he’s v open to him. joseph and suzi ofc have a relationship w jotaro as well but it isnt hard to see there is a bit of favorites playing, especially once jotaro grows up and really starts closing off to most ppl

caesar tries to encourage him to open up more to his family again, but this just ends up with him getting cut off as well. it’s sad ):

in the meantime tho joseph meets avdol and develops his stand. with avdol and caesar combined, they can kinda wrangle joseph into being productive w his energy, but theyre not full-proof. nothing will ever be full-proof against joseph

caesar nd avdol would get along rlly well me thinks. caesar would teach him sum italian and avdol would teach him so arabic. caesar wouldnt have a stand, but since stands r kiiiiinda described as just more intense versions of hamon, caesar can see like outlines of stands if he’s looking at them through one of his hamon bubbles. he only figures this out w avdol’s help. theyre buds

then they find out abt dio thanks to joseph’s stand and they all kinda. get srs. it’s time to search and all that for this fucker. caesar’s pissed cause his grandfather died for no reason now then, same w joseph. avdol helps them navigate the stand world as they search

honestly all is relatively well mostly but then. sdc begins

caesar hasnt heard from jotaro himself for like two years when holly calls them in a panic over him being in jail. og just caesar and joseph were gonna go, but then avdol brings up jotaro mightve developed his stand, since stands r kinda genetic, so they bring avdol along too cause he’s the expert here

they get there, jotaro calls his mom a bitch and is otherwise disrespectful and moody as fuck, and caesar is frankly just disappointed more than angry/frustrated, th opposite of joseph. this makes jotaro feel worse tho KJFN;;N

avdol gets him out tho, they head out. caesar scolds jotaro for snapping at holly and joseph when the only things they ever did were show care for him, and jotaro snaps at HIM in return. fuckin teenagers. caesar changes tactics then and tells jotaro about how he used to be a street thug and all that, and how he cut himself off from his family in an effort to keep them safe (as did his dad mario zeppeli and joseph’s mom djkndje;dn why do bad coping skills run in the family), but it didnt work and instead it just put them in more danger and unjustified/meaningless emotional turmoil. jotaro gets thoughtful over this

then jotaro heads to school and accepts his kiss from holly w/o much fight, just wordless grumbling. it’s a start, caesar guesses

then jotaro comes home with a fucking bloody body only an hour later BHILDFHUDHUJN;

avdol talks abt the fleshbud, caesar is concerned cause jesus h christ, that is a child, kakyoin was only 16-almost-17 when he got fleshbudded, it’s been months, holy shit ??? jotaro must have the same thoughts cause he goes to pull the fleshbud out to everyone’s panic

they decide to let jotaro do it tho and jotaro does, just like in canon. kakyoin’s still rlly rattled but w caesar nd holly both telling him it’s ok and jotaro’s weird ass “why did i save you? who knows.........” thing, he calms down

then holly gets stand sickness and everyone freaks out, even jotaro! kinda. he reacts much the same he did in canon except maybe a lil more frantic cause he had literally JUST decided to clean up his act and now his mom is dying. he wants to show her he knows better now. it’s rough.

caesar considers staying just to watch over his daughter esp cause he doesnt have a stand so it’s like, what would he even do, but then jotaro and kakyoin say theyre going and caesar is like “ok no. ur children.” “that’s my mom. im going either by myself or youll let me go with you.” “christ”

so caesar tags along just to keep an eye of these crazy kids and yeah

this is ending up as a whole fucking fic draft or some shit so im gonna stop here but if anyone is curious on my thoughts on how caesar would continue to affect things from here, lemme know nd ill elaborate. im PRETTY SURE...caesar being around would lead to avdol and kakyoin living cause hamon’s healing abilities, nd since he doesnt have a stand he kinda just ends up as team medic SOOOO....

love at first sight just feels so disney to me. the idea is romantic but is a little too cheesy to me. I like the idea of two people developing a relationship over time. 

Fake dating or secret dating?

i love the drama too much not to say secret dating! the reveal is always so fun and i love seeing other characters slowly cue in. 

Enemies to lovers or best friends to lovers or enemies to friends to lovers? 

again. i love drama too much not to pick this one. 

Oh no there’s only one bed or long distance correspondence?

I’ll be real with you, this is one of my favorite tropes. I think epistolary fics are super interesting anyway. They just have such a unique tone and sense of story telling. Plus, the longing. 

hurt/comfort or amnesia?

ok i mean, both are good, but amnesia fics are a favorite of mind. There’s something about watching someone mourn the death of their friend or lover, even though their friend is still alive and just doesn’t remember them. it gets me. 

Fantasy au or modern au? 

i don’t really like aus that much anyway, but if I read them I usually go for modern aus, just because fantasy is kind of hit or miss for me. 

mutual pining or domestic bliss? 

mutual pining goes along well with slow burn. sometimes it can be frustrating as hell knowing all problems could be solved if two assholes just talked to each other, but there’s also something relatable about just watching from afar. 

smut or fluff?

ok i mean, why not both, first of all. there has to be a good balance between the two imo, because too much fluff can get boring but i’ve also never been a fan of pwp. if they’re going to fuck, at least make it plot relevant. 

canon-compliant or fix-it?

i have read too many bagginshield and reddie fix its for me to not pick this one. For all my talk about not liking aus, canon compliant just hurts too much sometimes, and usually not in a good way. Also, my faves tend to get murdered and i liked to pretend i live in a world where they aren’t dead in a ditch, so im going to have to go with fix-it on this one. 

Reincarnation or character death?

just finished talking about how canon compliant sucks and here i am picking character death, but it’s only because i really don’t like reincarnation aus. i find that character death is a fun foray into super angsty one shots or short chapter fics, but if the story itself is centered around one person dying, then it gets a little drawn out and boring after a while. 

one-shot or multi-chapter?

just fuck me up fam if im not up unreasonably late clicking ‘next chapter’ then whats the Point 

kid fic or road trip?

im a slut for roadtrip fics and i can never find enough of them! i dont know if its the combination of confined spaces, pining, American gothic, or just the specific feel i get from road trip fics, but i love them. Also kid fics have to be written really well for me not to cringe through them and often times that’s not the case loll. 

sci-fi au or magic au?

oh man i love sci fi. I love it so much. I love robots and space and all that shit. both are valid and i love them, but again, it’s all about something to do with the overall feel of the story. I grew up playing Mass Effect and i have a permanent love for that type of sci fi. 

also i love aliens.

Arranged marriage or accidental marriage?

accidental marriage is so stupid and i love it. i always get a kick out of characters having their “oh shit we’re MARRIED?” moment. 

Time travel or isolated together?

perfect opportunity to hash out all your grievances and then bang it out, i guess. VERY classically trope-y in my opinion. 

High school romance or middle-aged romance?

im gay i can’t relate to high school romance, that’s for the hets. 

but in all honesty i like middle aged romance because i often find it in queer fanfiction, and something about two middle aged queer people finally figuring out their lives and realizing they can still find love just fuckin gets me. just a fan of the message that it isn’t too late. 

body swap or genderbend? 

fuckin sophie’s choice over here. I dont particularly like either of these. Genderbend is a little too uncomfortable for me and body swap strays dangerously into the territory of crack, but its the least objectionable. 

Angst or crack?

I get such visceral second hand embarrassment from crack fics. I don’t know how anyone can read them. I see the word crack and i sink into my shame. there’s a difference between humor and crack, and being on f*nfiction.net in 2014 ruined it for me. it was funny when i was fourteen. not so much anymore. 

Apocalyptic or mundane? 

my whole aesthetic is fallout and apocalyptic so OFC i have to go with this one. Something about the atmosphere really gets me. I think I make fallout aus for...probably every fandom i’ve ever been in? I think it presents a unique opportunity to tell a story about how humanity is scattered, but ultimately, we’re in it together, and it’s also a fun challenge to think about how the world has changed and how it works now that civilization is gone. Can’t help but think Mad Max and how fun everything about it is. Apocalypse AUs are always on the table for me. 

(tbh i’ve been thinking about a fallout/tua crossover for actual months and i have no idea how to pull it off, but that’s where my mind is)
