Okay, it's like 10pm on a work night and I haven't had any coffee today so my thoughts are a little scrambled BUT. I WAS THINKING.

(About In Stars and Time of course I'm always thinking about that game)

A couple of years ago, at the height of Steddie -my sister was big into it and recced me some fics okay- I read this fic about Steve dealing with time loops ("The one in which a time loop is fucking exhausting" by badpancake) and there was this specific detail about the epilogue that stuck with me.

It was the idea that, once the time loops were done and over with, people would slowly start to remember bits and pieces of what happened in earlier loops. After being fractured for so long across dozens of timelines and experiences and outcomes, time was finally healing, and broken shards of lost memories would find their way back into people's minds.

And that got me thinking about a post-game what-if scenario where the same happens to the gang as they travel through Vaugarde.

Like they still don't remember everything -just bits and pieces. Experiences so emotionally charged that they found a way to cross the sands of time and reach them again.

The question is, what would those memories be? The first answer that comes to mind is some of Siffrin's deaths, of course. I can't imagine watching your friend get pancake-d by a boulder would be pleasant, nor witnessing them turning their own dagger to themselves. Or offering him a slice of your favorite snack only for him to go into anaphylactic shock in front of your very eyes, for that matter!

But there would be other instances too, wouldn't they? Death is not the only thing that shook them to their core. What about their first death to the King? Or Bonnie's fate at the end of Act 3? What about basking in the blissful feeling of victory against the tormentor of your land only to turn to look at your friend and know something is very, very wrong?

What about fighting through the House with a party of 4 instead of 5, bloodied, confused, staring in the face of the King knowing you're about to die and wondering why your friend left you all when you needed them most?

I honestly have no idea where I'm going with this, but I've been rotating this concept in my head since this morning and thought I'd get it out on here so y'all can suffer with me tehee

made smth like this before but it was so incoherent lmao, im aiming for this one to be a little better worded/constructed. literally just gonna be a whole rant defending cherry/refuting common counterarguments i see

im being so genuine, can yall tell me a GOOD REASON why you hate cherry. every single reason i hear is so stupid, all of her actions that make her "hated" are incredibly understandable if you had just taken a moment and tried to imagine what it was like given her situation.

a good example would be "she didn't visit johnny in the hospital" :: johnny killed bob: cherrys boyfriend. johnny is her boyfriend's killer. name one person who would wanna go see their partner's killer. and a counterargument to this i see a lot is "johnny defended her against dally" :: which, yeah, maybe that made cherry somewhat like him a little more, but she had never even met him until the drive in. and, i simply believe someone killing your partner outweighs the one good thing that they did for you.

"being rude to ponyboy" :: socs couldnt really be seen with greasers because it would ruin their reputation, and rep is very important to both socs and greasers. i do agree it might've been a bit selfish, but you have to take into consideration the time period and their situation. this also can apply to the scene in the movie where cherry didnt wave back to ponyboy at school. but, cherry explicitly stated that she probably wasn't going to say hi or wave back, and told him not to take it personal because she would if she could: "you're a nice boy and everything, but we just couldnt let our parents see us with you" bringing back my point about reputation being important. she obviously WANTED to talk to him more, but couldnt due to social expectations

cherry disregarding ponyboy's issues by saying "things are rough all over." if you read the parts whenever randy spoke, you'd know this argument is pretty weak. and even then, she wasn't even disregarding them, she just wanted to give pony a sense that he's not alone.

a lot of this just boils down to trying to put yourself in her shoes; you have to understand where she's coming from. i've made this point a couple of times within the paragraphs. she's also only 16.

also, i've seen a lot of people who hate cherry also love dally? .. how are you gonna hate a character who's actions are pretty understandable if you just put yourself in their shoes, but like the character who's does FAR worse things, mostly just for fun (jumping little kids, cheating, drinking, etc.)?? talk about hypocrisy... i feel like this lowkey has some misogynistic undertones too but whatever.

anyway, you dont have to like her. like her, dislike her—whatever, just maybe come up with a good argument

hi anon!! c: hmm i dunno about what would catch his eye, i think he’d be interested in all types of people, but i can talk about how i think he’d approach a crush or someone he’s interested in!

ranpo having a crush would be very interesting because i feel like it could go a few different ways, depending on how he’s feeling that day and the person themselves. i could honestly see him becoming uncharacteristically shy with the person if the crush hits him very suddenly and out of nowhere the moment they meet (aka if it’s a new person in his life), almost to the point where it comes across as rude because he refuses to do anything with them or be around them. the feelings are strong, potent, and entirely unfamiliar, and he has no idea how to deal with them, so he avoids them until someone talks some sense into him and helps him work through them in a positive and productive way. after he gets over his initial shyness and processes the emotions he’s experiencing, i think he’d begin to act exactly the way i describe below!!

if the person isn’t a new person in his life, and the crush + feelings develop gradually over time as he gets to know them, then i think he’d be obsessive, almost overbearing, with his presence. he’d suggest doing everything together in a way that comes across as incredibly blunt and bordering on demanding, even though that isn’t at all his intended tone. he’s just excited; he wants to spend time with them, wants to show off to them, and wants to share things with them.

if you say you’re going grocery shopping after uni class or work, he’ll naturally invite himself to tag along with you. if you say you’re craving a specific food or meal, he’ll grab you by the wrist and march you over to the closest food stall or restaurant without stopping, no matter how much you protest. if you mention wanting to see a new film that’s just been released, he will immediately buy tickets for the next available showtime and tell you—not ask you—that you’re coming with him. he’ll begin attempting (and often succeeding; he isn’t one to take no for an answer) to drag you along on all his missions and cases, because he wants you to see how smart he is, how capable and adept he is, how absolutely awe-inspiring he is. he wants you to be feel astonishment and admiration towards him, be in amazement of him and his intelligence. ranpo is not a fan of sharing his snacks, but if it’s you, well, he guesses he can part with a candy or two (and if you like that candy, you can absolutely expect him to get very enthusiastic and begin shoving more and more at you to gauge your reactions in relation to other flavours etc—he thinks they’re really cute).

i also think that he wouldn’t really hide his crush for long. aside from the fact that the behaviour described above is abnormal for him and would instantly signal to anyone who knows him well that something is up, ranpo is also so honest, and he almost always says exactly what’s on his mind. if he thinks you look pretty or handsome, he’s going to tell you so with absolutely no reservations. if he likes something you’re doing or finds one of your mannerisms adorable, he’s going to tell you so, bluntly and boldly. as such, he’ll either end up letting it slip that he has a crush on you in some totally nonchalant way, or he will very candidly and almost curtly ask you to go on a date with him because he likes you a lot.

i don’t think ranpo is one to have small or insignificant crushes, either. when he falls for someone, he falls fucking hard, and he’ll stop at nothing to make them his—which is to say, if you reject him, you’re going to absolutely shatter his fucking heart; smash it into a million sharp fragments that pierce his lungs and slash his stomach and lodge between his ribs, so painful he can barely stand to breathe at all. this definitely introduces a very slight yandere potential; he can’t understand why you don’t want to be with him, why you wouldn’t want to be with him—he’s obviously the best person in the entire universe for you, after all; there’s no way anyone else on any other planet would possibly be a better fit for you than he is—but he also isn’t necessarily the type to continue pursuing you after you’ve made it explicitly known that you’re not interested out of genuine respect for you; unless he’s seriously delusional and is able to somehow trick himself into believing that you’re just too dumb, you just don’t know what’s good for you, not the way he does, and you very clearly and very evidently need him to protect you, to shelter and guide you, because he knows what’s best for you better than anyone else ever could or ever will. he’s only doing this because he loves you, obviously. it’s all for your sake, don’t be so fucking ungrateful.

how do you feel about the theory of Mk maybe being the next person to gain the samadhi fire?

Okay, I am so so iffy on it, and I see where people are getting the idea from too! The whole faceless person in that one painting gaining the fire, the whole teal/blue thing swirling around in his powers, etc., (I really hope you know what I’m talking about,,, I can’t word things good rn).

While I very much see where the idea is coming from, and how it could make sense,,, I do think that the whole plot twist with the samadhi fire is done and over with- Mei had the secret fourth ring in her.

Like okay, maayyybee MK will try to gain the samadhi fire like his mentor did, in an attempt to save the people he cares about/ the universe. I can see him gaining it this way, but I don’t think there’s gonna be a secret 5th ring in him. Even still, I don’t think he’ll try to do that either bc we saw how awful that went the first time.

Buuuuut wanna know what else is teal/ blue coded??? LBD, the memory scrolls,,, I think he’s gonna be more connected to something along these lines. I mean?? The way he interacts with the scrolls???? Hello???? I know I’ve talked about this a few times before, but please all that can’t be ignored. Something something destiny something something harbinger of chaos. Also that teal flower. Sorry I cannot get over it, especially with MK slowly becoming real coded.

Maybe, MK being hatched (?) into existence was the last warning bell of something major going down. I mean? The harbinger of chaos is not the same as the bringer of chaos. Two entirely different things. The Jade Emperor saying how his time of ruling was up is extraordinarily suspicious, especially because it was very very soon after MK was born/ gained his powers. Something bug is going to happen, we know that. And maybe MK being born was the Universe’s last warning bell for it.

Tldr; no, I don’t think MK will gain the samadhi fire. I think he’s meant for something much more than that.

hear me out okok she only has romantic feelings rarely and she has trouble telling whether her feelings are romantic or platonic or something else. She feels very close to Starlo but she doesn’t know what those feelings are. she considered dating him but it wasn’t right both because of their different levels of maturity and the feelings confusion. Plus, he never confessed.

When she got close to Chujin her feelings felt more clearly romantic. But, she still wasn’t sure. How is romance supposed to feel? Is she doing something wrong? She loves Chujin, but does she love him “correctly”? Venting about this one night, he tells her that there isn’t a “correct” way to love. She can love him without it having to fit how she’s “supposed to feel”. They know how much they care about each other. Even if it looks just plain romantic to others, they know what they are to each other. She stands at his grave and wonders if she’ll ever feel that way about someone again.

After true pacifist, she’s reevaluating how she feels about Starlo. He’s more mature now and they’re closer than ever before. She wants to be with him, somehow, but she isn’t sure. The grief of losing Chujin, Kanako, and Clover still lingers. But he’s always been there for her, through all of those losses. She doesn’t know if she has platonic or romantic feelings for him, or something else, but she knows that her feelings are strong. If they get together, it’s not exactly romantic, even if there are romantic feelings there. It’s not exactly platonic either, even if those feelings are there as well. It’s their relationship, and they define it how they want to. They know how much they care about each other.

Hello!! Random question about NN Freddy: If I remember correctly, there’s a scene in the movie where someone says the Entity taking on Freddy’s form has probably taken on the form of other characters in the past. Do you have a headcanon for other forms that Entity has taken on?

Holy SHIT I love this question thank you so much. Please excuse the length I have a lot of thoughts.

Given that the Entity is said to feed on fear and “the death of innocence”, I think he’s been the villain of the story about 95% of the time. He’s cruel and vain and sadistic, and I think he enjoys it.

With all the religious imagery and themes associated with the ANOES franchise and in New Nightmare itself, I think the Entity played the role of the serpent in the Bible. I mean, it’s one of the most widely known loss of innocence stories. Plus, I feel like it’s a bit implied in the movie itself. The Entity summons a snake to prevent Dylan from escaping, and he transforms into a demonic horned creature before his defeat. I also think he’s occupied the villain/monster role in a variety of other regional myths and legends – including Greek and Roman, judging by the architecture in his hell world.

But going into pure headcanon territory, I headcanon that he was the dragon that killed Beowulf, Kronos in Greek mythology, and Dracula in the original Bram Stoker novel. He found a home in quite a few German expressionist films, including Nosferatu, before being attracted to American horror cinema with 1931’s Dracula. I also headcanon that he occupied the roles of the Wicked Witch from The Wizard of Oz and the alien from Alien (I hc the latter because of Freddy's propensity for using his tongue, considering what the xenomorph does with its own oral appendage).

And then, of course, in the early 1980s Wes Craven started crafting a certain little slasher flick…. and, well, we know the rest.

The biggest disappointment about Peach Blossom for me ( and for the fandom as a whole I'm sure ) is Devsisters' complete lack of use of him. He gets a single appearance in the story... and then nothing. I feel like they could've pulled more from his Xiwangmu inspiration especially to convey the role / part he played overall in both Mystic Flour's history and Dark Cacao's journey. Xiwangmu, after all, spoke to emperors directly about their legitimate, divine right to rule, teaching them the secrets of immortality if deemed worthy by passing her tests.

What if, as the pale ailment begins to spread in his kingdom, Dark Cacao starts to have strange, hazy dreams of a pink orchard and a lone figure that he can't quite make out... The dream is unclear, veiled in a way, and so is the voice that speaks to him in this mysterious realm, but he can understand some of it. Not only is it another hint on where he must journey to save his kingdom, but there's a call, more than the pull of his soul from the beast that wished to arrange the taking of his ( her ) soul jam, but a summoning by Peach Blossom as well. Instead of: " A visitor approaches the serene garden, I see " it was more of a: " You finally made it here... I've been waiting for you. " Reaching the heavenly orchard is but the first test Dark Cacao had to pass if he truly desired to see his kingdom saved, and Peach Blossom tells him to keep the pit of the peach bao he was given to eat as testament of having made it here ( perhaps it serves some special purpose...? ) Now, he must climb even higher to meet the one who truly wished to challenge him. Peach Blossom is technically not on either side of this war, despite ensuring the battle is fairly fought, and arranging it in part due to understanding that it is the universe's will. In the end, he is but a simple caretaker, there to offer guidance, clarity, and respite to all. Whatever the outcome between resolution and apathy, he will accept as fate and meet with the same smile.

Though, perhaps the part of him that is still the tiniest bit mortal wanted to use Dark Cacao to save his friend... He was greatly saddened by Mystic Flour's fate. If it weren't for them finding each other on the same journey of enlightenment and encouraging / helping each other up while they climbed, he might have never made it through the journey and come to understand his purpose in the world... Where he stopped, finally having found the perfect place to begin his garden, carrying a sapling all the way up ( the last remnant of those he failed to save ), she sought to go farther and climbed higher than he ever did.

Even if others would consider it foolish for him to still see her as she once was, he will not kill that memory of her. This does not mean he denies that she is different and has changed, but if all the world comes to know her only as a beast, he will remember her before her "fall," as one of the few who can.

Thinking about the guilt survivors from even just one flicker round would feel. Not specifically survivors guilt, but more of "why didn't you know better/why didn't you do better" sort of guilt, even though the survivor of the round did all they could with the knowledge they had during the game.

I feel like this guilt would be prevalent with all of the good roles at least, but the worst for the roles that could have prevented deaths in some way (medic, psychic, spy) because they could feel partly responsible for the deaths.

As medic, why didn't you heal the right person? Why did you prioritise the wrong people even though you couldn't have known who would be the murderer's target each night?

As spy, why didn't you bug the right person? Why did you get it wrong and miss your chance to find the evils, even though it was a guessing game?

As psychic, why didn't you read the right person? Why did you let the evils stay in, even though you didn't know their identities and it was down to luck?

A version of the same guilt would be with all good survivors as mentioned above. The guilt in that scenario would be more like "why did you trust the evil team?" Even though the survivor could not have known that they were evil just outright, it wouldn't be like they told you their role.

And this sort of guilt would be ten times worse if evil ended up winning. Because the guilt would tell the survivor that they shouldn't have let them won, even though they could not do ANYTHING about it. Because they didn't know.

And they couldn't have known, because in the end, it was FULLY out of the survivors hands. The survivor could not have done more with everything they knew at that point.

Pretty good show honestly. I think it may perhaps come off a little underwhelming compared to last time because they released the full trailers early, so it was chiefly just talking, but I was still pleased.

The only thing I really wanted out of it was one (1) of my predictions coming true and one (1) surprise, and well, between the Watase Family and Nishitani...... THREE!!!!!, that's exactly what I got. Kiryu looking up at the sky like he's struggling to remember who he (allegedly) proposed to is hilarious though same energy as Jo not remembering Ikumi's name ghdshgkdhf the exchange kind of reminded me of Ichi talking to Arakawa as well... the "don't say it in the past tense" one you know the one...

Also next summit in September so that'll be a lovely birthday present :) For Me :)

If Laudna's subclasses change upon her resurrection, I think that either wild magic or storm sorcerer would be fitting thematically.

Wild magic would be neat because of all the fey shenanigans going on already, obviously....but it's also just the whole embodiment of chaos, change, and unpredictability.

...I can totally see a child struggling with random wild magic surges to be picked on or avoided.

If she was a storm sorcerer before though:

Being able to control weather could be very helpful for her parents who had a farm, right? Also, I cannot imagine a scenario where random thunder, lighting, and levitating wouldn't be spooky themed, you know?

I think her mirroring Imogen with storms and navigating the turbulence with one another would be wonderful but that's another post entirely

In either choice, it would make a lot of sense why she would've wanted to hone the abilities, in addition of her desire to move on from Whitestone.

As an added bit because I JUST realized this:

Lunar sorcerer from the upcoming Dragonlance book! That is also perfectly spooky, moon themed, and could be really fitting for Laudna as well.

I think it would be really neat if Laudna's powers were originally drawn from Catha. It feels...right? It just tickles something in my brain. Laudna having Catha moon powers, while Fearne and Imogen were affected by Ruidus. The witch trio having moon powers in common, but it not being a rehash of someone drawing power from this malevolent source.

The commandments of the Moonweaver also feel like they could relate to Laudnas character and her growing as a person? The more I snoop the more I feel like if any change is going to be made to her subclass, this will be it.

The odd and wonderful irony in having a celestial being watching over her, that's typically worshiped in elven culture and is associated with lovers ontop of all that? My brain is just rolling around in this idea. I kinda love all of it?? Lunar sorcerer/celestial warlock...?

I recently bought the full collection of the "Scythe" series by Neal Shuterman because I was like "Oh yeah I used to be obsessed with that series but they only had the first few books at my local library" and upon rereading it. I'm reminded of how much merit the idea of a Scythe x Naruto crossover has. I would read the fuck out of that au. Especially with the Uchiha as Scythes? With *Itachi* as a Scythe? Pls.

The scene where the elder scythe tells the mc that the first requirement to be a Scythe is to not want to be one. Tell me that doesn't have Itachi written all over it.

Man. A fic that follows Itachi going from a child curious about human nature in a world so perfected. To an apprentice trying to grasp the concept of what makes a kill 'righteous' or 'evil' for himself as he trains behind probably either Danzo, Madara, or Orochimaru. Him becoming a full fledged scythe and trying his damndest to fit into a world he doesn't want to be in.

Not to mention his motivation could be to become one in order to assure Sasuke gets eternal immunity. Danzo recruiting him to be his student with the reminder that if he accepts. Itachi will never have to fear for his brother's safety again.

Just. There's so many overlaying themes. That would be so fun to see explored.
