AFFILIATE VERSE / Into the Mel-verse if you are feeling groovy
set in a heavily canon divergent 616 timeline w/ spiderverse movies worked in / some of this like the leonard stuff is canon across all verses @thefleetsfinest / @crisispider / @hopeburns
anyways, here's a bunch of headcanons and notes that i have for what i have developed with MEL MY BELOVED BESTIE; and if it's chill, i will probably default to this verse being my main / primary. so if you're groovy, i'd like to write in this verse.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
💜💙 freefall happens a little differently, in that linda and clint never dated, but they are friends mostly because linda is dating @thefleetsfinest and leonard adopted a stray alcoholic (clint) that is how that is going
💜💙 linda and clint still attend the gala together, or more linda runs into clint at the f.e.a.s.t. charity thing (leonard is probably in attendance too / linda still calls tony small dick energy and then kisses her doctor boyfriend) and both are squinty eyes at him the entire time
💜💙 Clint is actually injured going to Linda's clinic when Spiderman and Captain America confront him, and Linda still goes to defend him; partly because she will not have that happening right outside of her clinic. it definitely one of the leading causes where she wants some space from clint
💜💙 Clint still brings Bryce to Linda's apartment, and Bryce dies, and that's why Clint gets banned from her apartment. Linda calls Leonard to help with clean up, and Leonard helps Clint in the direct aftermath
💜 He goes to Leonard all injured after The Hood, and than he decides to go sober with the help of Leonard
💜💙 clint is still currently banned from linda's apartment, but she has mostly forgiven him for covering his ass and the whole dying kid in her house; it's fine he is leonard's friend, she can forgive him over time
💜 leonard mccoy is clint's aa sponsor, across all open verses, when post freefall happens; clint's living on leonard's couch as he gets sober and starts to put his life back together, there may have been some snuggling involved, because when you are sad and pitiful, sometimes being held is nice and lenny is a good friend.
💙 Clint and Leonard tend to go to aa meetings in Brooklyn, but if ever needed they have popped into the usual place that Tony and Carol end up. The first time that happened was so awkward for Clint.
💜 The first four people, on Clint's long list of amends and apologies, is to Kate, Bucky, Natasha, and Peter Parker.
💜 Now let's get on to talking Peter Parker ( @crisispider ). After apologizing to Peter, the two had always been friends over the years, but they become closer friend again. Clint is surprisingly there as Peter is going through the details of a divorce, or co-parenting, and being a single dad.
Tumblr media
💜 Clint is roughly one year sober, and only doing small investigative, vigilante/hero work, not always directly in NYC (legal troubles), and that is when Luke has become Mayor (tbh i do not know the timeline between 2020 to 2022/23 comics well) when he gets the offer about the Thunderbolts, he is not at all sure about it and still has major issues with this
💜 Clint and Peter have been becoming closer friends, since Clint apologized, and it's once Clint has joined the Thunderbolts, that is when Clint and Peter start to flirt a little more, and one thing leads to another, that leads to feelings and a relationship. Clint's been a Thunderbolt for the city for some time now, in a relationship with Peter for some time. About a year probably.
💜 Peter and part-time Mayday move in with Clint at some point down the line, making the Spiderman and little Bug mainstays in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn. The neighbors at Bed-Stuy absolutely love Peter B. Parker, and he's a big help at fixing things and making thee apartment labeling make sense
💜 Clint and MJ are buds, pals, friends; he loves her. The Barton-Parker-Watson family is so good and wholesome. Kate Bishop is also a part of that, DUH, Peter gets Kate in Clint's will. Kate and Peter have such a funny friendship.
💜 Eventually, Clint does get back in good graces with the Avengers, and even returns to the Avengers in the time of emergencies. He can be both a TB and an Avenger sometimes as a treat.
💜 Clint's even visited Spider-society once, because Peter vouched really had for a bring-your-boyfriend to work day.
💜 Clint's best friend, outside of his other best friends. His non-superhero friend if he has to be specific is Leonard, he loves harassing his doctor, needs him as his sponsor. has become more of brother to him than barney is, and is his best friend. they just get each other. and he swears if leonard gets hurt.
💜 Leonard makes Clint cry more than he'd care to admit to, like when Leonard and the Mccoy family adopt Clint as their own, and treat him like family. It makes him cry and stop he knows it's okay to cry Peter, he's till crying though and its ugly. He also just loves Leonard a lot.
Tumblr media
💙 Linda and Leonard start dating before Freefall takes place exact timeline uncertain. this happens after Leonard wises up. She cares a lot about him, and was just giving him space to adjust to moving to New York and involving himself in superhero lives. They are so close with each other, and really it was a matter of time.
💙 The Night Nurse Network is a thing, with Linda's clinic being a whole location, and she's got her rolodex of associates. She's got help now, she's not the only doctor/physician acting as more than half of NYC's hero population's pcp and emergency doctor. She has @thefleetsfinest and @hopeburns (when she's not in space) who both can be ran into and seen around the clinic, as well most importantly, everyone's favorite waiting room buddy, Leonard's corgi Luna. there's three doctors/nurses are the night nurse clinic now.
💙 As Clint would put it, the crush era between Linda and Leonard was unbearable (and since clint was drinking at the time / he drank to that) as Leonard would deny any time he got jealous that Linda was trying to date and get out there. Linda absolutely hated that time, as most dates were just not interesting or went poorly, and she did not really want to be "getting out there", plus Leonard was right there and really they were both unbearable and oblivious to each other's interest in the other!
💙 Linda always ends up back at the clinic after her dates (the one time with the lizard girl), and most of that she ends up hanging out with Leonard after all her dates, cause he's more interesting (and the ideal guy)
💙 Linda's friends include Jessica Drew (and Carol by extension), Stephen Strange (they get coffee, he's a pest once he knows about leonard too absolutely awful), Laelynn (by extension her girlfriend Luce), and Leonard (by extension clint and peter are around a too), and than there is Danny and Luke as well.
💙 Speaking of Jessica Drew, Linda absolutely adores babysitting Gerry when given the chance. To add to that, she starts watching Mayday Parker as well which she really doesn't mind, because of Leonard doing a favor for @crisispider and Clint.
💜🧡 Clint and Peter watch Greer's kid William sometimes, which naturally Clint is like "Oh my pal leonard can watch him too" which sorry Leonard you didn't like those curtains did you anyways. So Greer has Clint or lets Clint's friend Leonard watch William.
💙💜 So Linda and Leonard babysit, just as Clint and Peter will baby sit all the super kids they know.
💙 Linda was more nervous about Leonard meeting her mother, than about meeting the Mccoys or Leonard meeting the rest of her family. This is mostly because of the fact that her mother was unpredictable in how her opinion could be swayed. It wouldn't change anything, but it'd be preferrable if she was Leonard-favorable.
💛 Wasps and spiders may be natural enemies (which may not be true), but Nadia has said she has arguably warmed up to @crisispider but like Miles is still the cooler Spiderman
❤️ Luce (i know i need to add her) is absolute buds with @crisispider it happens mostly because she quips back to at least half of Spiderman's jokes with quotes in specific voice, and they usually grab a bite after a tough day of heroing. That and they get the whole secret identity.
❤️ Luce is Newark's vigilante, but she'll end up wherever a lead will take her which is more often than not over the water to NYC. She tries to avoid being in Manhattan, minus the Night Nurse clinic which is currently in Manhattan, because every superhero and his mom defends Manhattan. She'll go defend Staten Island if she has to over Manhattan (that's a joke she'll kick names and take ass anywhere, wait a minute)
❤️ LUCE ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT PROVE LEGAL ADVICE ! She knows why are asking @crisispider so go pester a lawyer! She is just a paralegal, and it's in her opinion that like hawkeye should not.
Tumblr media
FUTURE PLANS AND EVENTS
Tumblr media
💜 THE WURM -> don't worry about :) -> it's not a cosmic threat :) -> all in your minds :) -> it's my blog, so of course, this would happen in a meddium length hawkeye run :)
💜 A few relapses for Clint, superhero shit is tough but he always gets back on and it never lasts long. his sobriety lasts longer.
💜 Oh about that Wurm ;) The avengers are clint's team :) oh and Clint plus the team save the day :) so you think :) and things are fine until the Wurm comes back to eat Clint I mean what :)
💙 Linda has to relocate the clinic, which actually ends up being more upsetting than she'll care to admit. It happen, it's happened before, she's always moved when needed. This time it's more because Danny Rand had bought the last building to remove rent as an issue for her. She knows it was a give back thank you gift, these things happen, it is still absolutely a stressful and massive plan when she moves her clinic out of the Lower East Side. She tries to find a place near the same area and still in Manhattan, but rent is a bitch. She manages to find a place in Turtle Bay, between 2nd and 3rd.
💜 Clint and Peter get married ! There is going to be a wedding. The proposal? Has not been worked out. But there is, of course it's gonna end up a big thing, spiderman and hawkey are big heroes!
💜 Clint's best man is . . . complicated. It ends up being co-best man Kate and Leonard. He had to narrow down groomspeople to a limit number of four. Figuring out who is. . . . still tough.
💙 The meeting of the Carters and Mccoys was something, which to date may be the most stressed that Linda has ever been to date. It goes well, mostly.
💙 Linda and Leonard will get married too, and Linda wants it family and friends, and keep it small and quiet. As much as it can be when there are already a few superheroes who have to be on the list ( stephen plus clint and peter)
💜 Clint is Leonard's best man for his wedding with Linda. IT IS VERY EMOTIONAL. and Clint's speech is great (awful)
💙 linda's dress is a little decade inspired, just below the knee in leg, with some umpf to the skirt, off the shoulders or at least neck bare, good for dancing, very simple. the more exciting part of this is really the lace she is wearing underneath.
💜 Peter is gonna have a second kid with Clint. They are gonna be girl dads time two.
and just. so much more. so much. i love this affiliate verse. so much. also like. peter has the whole of spider society stuff. going on. and clint can't even wrap his head around some of it.

Sierra had a whole ass model of Riverdale in her office.
Where is it now? Did she get to take it with her when she resigned? Did she and Tom take it in pieces and load it into the cruiser after she stepped down because she didn’t want Hermione touching her things? Did they do it in the middle of the night so no one would catch her? Did she get it made for the jubilee or do all mayors need to have scale models in town hall for all to see?
All I’m saying is sometimes maybe she has a glass or three of wine and digs some of Josie’s old Barbies up and pretends she’s mayor again. That’s it.

Sweet Pea//the other one (part 2)
hey! no prompts tonight because i have been super busy today and just haven’t had the time to write them, however i will be working on them again from tomorrow so yay! anyway, to say sorry, here’s the second part of ‘the other one’. this is the first part! i know it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger so hopefully this makes up for it! enjoy!
“Sweet Pea!” You squeal when you feel a pair of arms wrap around your waist. Your feet kick against the dusty ground as he lifts you up, but when he chuckles in your ear and his hot breath fans over your cheeks, you soon still in his arms, now trying to focus on settling your heartbeat.
He smells like sunscreen and vanilla ice cream and you feel yourself become dizzy, now suddenly extremely thankful that he’s still holding you. You look around at the rest of your friends, none of them paying attention to the two of you, they’re all two busy either sun bathing or jumping into the water that fills the quarry.
Despite the warnings from your mom about swimming in the water, you have already been in. The rest of her warnings have proven useless, ‘don’t hang out with serpents’ and ‘be nice to your sister’ are the two main ones she’s told you for as long as you can remember, and they’re both stupid.
Sweet Pea spins you around and the two of you laugh loudly, causing a few of the serpents to look in your direction. You end up making eye contact with Toni when he eventually stops and she sends you a knowing look that makes you quickly drop her gaze.
“Put me down!” You giggle once you’ve recovered and he reluctantly lets go. You turn around to face him a bright smile on your face that fades when you look at him. Your jaw drops at the sight of his bare chest, Toni and Fangs cough behind you and you quickly close your mouth and look at his face instead.
“Like what you see?” He asks and wiggles his eyebrows. You roll your eyes and shove him slightly, deciding that maybe it’s best not to face him right now. So instead you turn around and look for Sadie who’s been put in charge of the drinks.
“No, I’m just surprised to see you without your serpent jacket, I thought it was attached.” You tease and he huffs.
“So, where did the Mayor of Riverdale think her doting daughter is today?”
“Shopping with Betty and Veronica.” You smile and take a sip of your drink.
“Damn.” He sighs and you frown at him.
“What?” You ask, your tone filled with worry and your eyes scan over him, trying to find out what’s wrong.
“It’s just. I don’t know how you’re gonna explain this.”
“Explain wha-” You furrow your eyebrows and watch as his frown turns into a smirk, but he cuts you off by picking you up and throwing you into the water. He runs and jumps in after you and you shove him when you both come up for air.
“I hate you so fucking much.” You say, despite the large grin on your face.
“No you don’t.”
Your tears rolls down the glossy paper and onto your pyjama pants and you throw the photo to the floor. It’s no longer a happy memory, a candid moment between the two of you captured by Toni, it’s a reminder of what used to be.
It reminds you of something you thought was real, when in reality it’s never been.
Lying back on your bed, you stare up at the ceiling and count the cracks. It’s the only thing you’ve done for the past two days. You manage to convince your mom that you’ve caught something so you don’t have to go to school and she won’t let anyone in.
Josie has tried on multiple occasions to talk to you, but anytime she even tries to, you shut her down by staring at her until she leaves. Toni had tried to catch up with you when you found out, but you practically ran all the way home and she knew better than to try to follow.
She knows you need time.
You need to be alone to try and figure out where this leaves you.
You’re not entirely sure you know who you are right now. You spent so long loving Sweet Pea and wishing for a future that could be.
You searched for clues and hints in his texts, wondered what it meant when he hugged you for what felt like longer than normal, and tried to stop yourself from smiling when he bought you random gifts ‘just because’.
Now though, now that you’ve taken off your rose tinted glasses and seen the world for the grey bleakness that it actually is, you realize that none of those things meant anything. And all those nights spent worrying that something was wrong, was because of her. He loved her, and not you.
You heard the hurt in his voice when she shut him down, it’s how you sound when you talk about him. You know what it looks like when you’re in love with someone who doesn’t feel the same, and now so does he.
And it’s shit.
After a week of moping in your bed and faking a migraine, your mom finally forces you to go to school, despite your protests of not wanting to kill anyone with your totally real flu.
And so finally, you clutch your books close to your chest and cross the threshold of Riverdale High.
It looks no different, nobody looks at you, nobody even acknowledges you, something they have never done. It’s like you’re the most important McCoy, why would they? And so you breath a sigh of relief as you make your way to your first class.
You pass Josie and her lips part as if to say something, however they quickly close again and you pass her in silence.
Your almost at your class when you hear your name being called and you curse quietly.
What does he want?
You want to cry. Why does he have to keep being here? Why does he have to keep forcing you to remember that he exists and that he doesn’t want you.
“Y/n, please?” He begs, his voice cracking and you feel your heart break all over again. You take a shaky breath before forcing yourself to turn around and face the brown eyed boy who’s staring at you with so much sadness in his eyes that you think he’s gonna burst.
“Yes?” You force out and try to smile at him, however it comes out as more of a grimace and so you just purse your lips and wait for him to answer.
“Can we talk?” He asks and you look behind you.
“I er- I have a class to get to.”
“I know.” He nods. “Chemistry with Miss Click. You sit beside Neil and he throws pencils at his brother Will who sits on the other side of you. Toni sits three rows behind you and constantly passes notes to you that sometimes make you laugh so hard you snort and then have to pretend that you’re just coughing when Miss Click asks you if you’re okay. On Thursdays, Olivia is always late, and when she does turn up she always offers you the last of her gum because you help her catch up on what she’s missed.”
“Sweet Pe-”
“It’ll only take a minute.” He interrupts and you sigh before reluctantly nodding.
The corridor suddenly empties and you feel yourself shrink under his gaze.
“I know you love me.” He says and your eyes widen.
“What?! I er- who told you?”
“Fangs.” He says and you let out a deflated sigh. “But it’s okay, because I’m glad he did. It made me realize something. I know what classes you have and who you sit beside in each one. I know that when you’re sad you always want chocolate and when you’re angry you want tea. You cry when you see a cute cat on the street and you always pet dogs no matter what, even if they are barking at you and are literally about to rip your arm off. You don’t like dark chocolate but you’ll eat biscuits covered in dark chocolate, and you like peas but you don’t like sweetcorn because you think they try too hard to be different. I know the excuses you tell your mom and I know the ridiculously stupid lengths you go to to keep them up like bribing the chess club to pretend that you’re apart of them and even convincing the yearbook committee to publish a picture of you with the club.”
“Why are you telling me this?” You smile sadly and he mirrors your expression.
“Because, I know you. I know how much you love all of us and I know how hard you fought for all of us. I know that you always buy Fangs Twizzlers whenever you’re at a shop, and you buy me Twinkies and Toni Milk Duds because they make us happy. I know all of these useless facts about you, and I know so much more. And I know nothing about Josie, other than what everybody else knows. I know her as a McCoy, but I know you as Y/n. And-and, I love you Y/n.”
“What?” Your jaw drops and he bites his lip anxiously.
“I am so, so sorry. I should have told you it’s just Josie didn’t want anybody to know and I wanted to make her happy. But I made you and everybody else worry and I ended up making you miserable. I have been an idiot. I thought I liked Josie but I think I was just pretending that I didn’t love you because I didn’t want to ruin what he had if you didn’t feel the same way.
“Sweet Pea.” You laugh nervously, not really sure what else to do. He reaches out and grabs your hands, pulling you close to him.
“You’re not the other one Y/n, you’re the right one.”

Riverdale S2 E11
Every kind of spoiler ahead
- Mama Veronica is sort of kind of back.  She’s sitting at the adult table (literally) at Fred Andrew’s house when the Lodges, Mayor McCoy, Sheriff K and Fred are all planning out how to demolish Southside High, have the General Pickens Day celebration and how to keep the peace.  If anyone was going to directly object to teenager Veronica participating in this meeting like an equal, it would have been Fred, but he just accepts that Veronica, who is dating his son, should be there and given a full opportunity to voice her opinions.  Is this more of the Fred Andrews diffidence in not interfering with the raising of other people’s children?  Possibly, but I really think it’s because Veronica Lodge is that powerful.
-  Jughead, a week back from his stint as Serpent Prince and Protagonist Boy at Southside High, starts this episode getting bodychecked (Noooo!) by not one, not two, but a whole team of jogging football players. He’s shoved back into  being sidekick! He looks so, so peeved, and on top of everything else he has to narrate Archie’s school athletics career!  This is a terrible week for Jughead. No wonder he acts out so badly.  However, the newly empowered stance that Jughead  has, where he stands his ground, is a big leveling up from S1.
- I have come to a belated realization that Kevin is an alpha, and there’s a bit where Jughead tries to sneer at Kevin for saying he recognizes Chic by loudly asking “What, from your cruising in the woods?” and Kevin is so secure in his sexuality and manhood that he doesn’t even bother looking at Jughead when he says, “Maybe?” and then proceeds to leave Jughead entirely out of the conversation.
- Betty is an asshole (Why is this? Why did I not see this before?) because she actually doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with Serpents only being allowed to attend the festival as the hired help, that Jughead is upset about it, that it’s unjust - nope. She’s just pissy that Jughead has Toni’s friendship & attention.
- The parents of Southside High want that high school reopened, according to Mayor McCoy  This stood out for me because I just heard that school had a Jingle Jangle lab in the basement!  Did some of the kids (other than our favorites?) get sent to whatever schools are  in Greendale (where you can’t be after midnight) and Centerville (where the child molester Grundy went right after Riverdale)?  But Jughead says Riverdale HS “absorbed” its counterpart.  Is Mayor McCoy lying? Or is it that she’s getting calls about Southside transfers getting treated badly by both the Riverdale High administration and existing students?
- Hiram Lodge v Archie Andrews.  OK so this episode left me in Upside Down Land on the other side of the mirror because I see why Hiram has it in for Archie so much.
First, Archie’s father schtupped Veronica’s mother while Hiram was in prison and now Archie and Veronica are being sexually active in Hiram’s apartment (where the sound carries!), and yet Hiram is the only one who sees how weird and incest-adjacent this is.  How enraging.
Second,  Hiram knows that Archie is talking to a man that Archie thinks is an FBI agent intent on putting Hiram back in prison, and yet this ginger mofo has the absolute gall to bat his pretty eyes in innocent confusion while asking Hiram “Why don’t you like me?”   and also “What did I ever do to you?”
Third, Hiram knows that Archie is intentionally lying to his daughter, by very serious omission, about the fake FBI man.   And he actually is absolutely correct about Archie’s weak character. I’m not saying that just because of Barchie after Hedwig, though that too, but because of the way Archie rolled over at the birthday party for Jughead (I am still salty about this).
- Cheryl v Penelope Blossom
Cheryl’s basic decency can’t help but peek out.  And I really think setting her house on fire immunized her against the pull of the Blossom craziness (temporarily, sad to say, and her rebuilding it in S5 is why it all goes to hell for her.)
- Jopaz
Damn it Jughead, both for tipping off Hiram Lodge (you’re a high school kid but that was a reporting fail, the way you asked that question!) and your article about the Ukteina written without anyone’s consent.  Sadly, Jughead really does have so little to offer Toni. He’s a virgin (Bughead still Unconsummated!) and he’s just such a Clueless White.  It is hilarious that Toni puts masking tape over Jughead’s mouth. The only person who ever gets Jughead to shut up, completely. Good job.
But also Damn it Betty. Because Betty as an editor lets Jughead call Grandpa Topaz (is that his name) a “broken down old man” in print.  What is that phrase, about when a woman aims at another woman’s heart, she rarely misses?
- Alice v Chic v Betty
Because I’m so overwhelmed by my dislike for Betty, I really could not muster up any energy to care about this problem that Betty and her mom have created for themselves.
- I remember being irked by the topicality of the statue removal at the time, because Riverdale is fantasy escapism for me, but actually, compared to Scandal, a more prestigious show that had a very similar plotpoint around the same time, Riverdale handled it much better and organically within the confines of their narrative universe.

ALS Chapter Two pt 2
a/n: didnt fit in one post so i had to separate it. will probably do it again with other chapters.
"No, nothing like that.. if i tell you, will you swear you won't tell anyone? Like anyone at all? And you won't ask questions until i'm ready to talk?"
yes, of course. On my mother's pearls. What's wrong?
Alex heavily sighed. "I need a plan b pill."
She heard Veronica lightly gasp on the other line.
<i>o-okay, ill get it for you as soon as I can and we can talk later.</I>
She hung up. She had tears streaming down her face and she didn't even realize. She was scared that if she waited any longer, she would end up pregnant.
Moments later, Veronica texted her to tell her she was outside.
She rushed to get there, getting a questioning look from her dad, who was in the living room.
She walked outside, where she saw Veronica waiting with a paper brown bag in her hands, with her face filled with nothing but concern.
"Thank you." A wave of relief ran through Alex's body when Veronica handed the bag to her.
Veronica nodded. She was debating whether she should ask or not.
Alex took the box out and shoved it down her shorts. She covered the very noticeable box print with her shirt the best she could. She crumbled the bag, and threw it across the lawn.
"You can't tell Archie." Alex whispered.
Veronica nodded once again.
"What happened?" She finally asked.
Alex rolled her eyes. "The obvious."
"But why didn't you—"
"Not here, Veronica." Alex cut her off. "My dad and Archie are inside."
"Does this mean we're friends again?" Veronica gave a small smile.
Alex smiled back. "I guess."
Veronica squealed and hugged Alex. She returned her hug.
"Just don't go breaking Betty's heart. She's had too much of that from stupid Archie." Alex rolled her eyes.
Veronica nodded. "I won't, I promise."
"Okay, well thank you, once again." Alex said with a kind smile.
"For sure, and hey, if you need a 'test,' you know who to call." She joked.
Alex laughed. "Just go."
And she left.
Alex raced back upstairs to take the pill. She took it as instructed.
She let out another sigh of relief, possibly the last one of the night.
She started undressing herself to get into her pajamas. She noticed her waist was bruised. She took a better look in the mirror.
Yep. Bruised.
She huffed. She decided not to think too much about it and continue getting ready for bed.
She fell fast asleep.
——————————————————————————
School was boring the next day. She was sad that Chuck didn't even acknowledge her.
Her heart dropped when she saw Veronica exceptionally close to him in the student's lounge.
She didn't say anything about it and sat on the counter next to Jughead. She began blasting music through her ears, not listening to what any of them said.
Although, it didn't matter how loud she put the volume up, she can still hear Reggie trying to play detective.
She rolled her eyes.
"It's called necrophilia, Reggie. Can you spell it?" Jughead snapped back.
Alex tried holding back a laugh but failed terribly.
She stopped laughing when Reggie launched himself at Jughead. Archie stopped him.
"Hey, shut the hell up, Reggie." He pushed him.
Alex jumped off the counter.
"Archie.." she scolded.
"What do you care, Andrews?" Reggie asked, sparking up some more tension between the two.
"Nothing, just leave him alone." Archie simply stated.
"Holy crap." Reggie said, in a surprised tone. "Did you and Donnie Darko kill him together? Was it some sort of pervy, blood brother thing?"
He got closer to Archie's face.
Alex tried getting in between them so it wouldn't get physical but Jughead held her back.
Then Archie pushed Reggie again.
"Archie, stop it." Alex demanded.
Reggie paused for a second before he launched himself completely at Archie. He pushed him into the vending machine, causing them to break the glass.
Jughead didn't bother to hold Alex anymore since he tried getting Reggie of off him. Moose got up and grabbed Jughead.
Alex was going to step in as well, but Betty was on her feet by then and she insisted on holding her back.
They fell on to the floor where Reggie punched the living daylights out of him.
——————————————————————————
They ended up back home. Alex gave an ice pack to Archie for him to put on his face. Where the bruise was.
"You're such an idiot." Alex snarled.
He sighed.
"Ooh." Fred interrupted.
Both of their attention went to him.
"I hate to ask this, but did you get that in a fight with Jughead?" Fred asked carefully.
"No. It was with Reggie." Archie assured him. "It's a long story."
"I think I can tell it pretty quick." Alex interjected.
"Not that." Archie cut her off. "Jughead and i, we were disagreeing about a girl."
He sighed. "Because there's this girl.."
"There usually is." Fred interrupted.
"But it's not about me and Jughead, it's about me and this girl." Archie elaborated.
Alex's face scrunched up. "What girl?"
"... no one you know." Archie hesitated.
She scoffed.
"Alex, will you give us a moment?" Fred turned to Alex.
She rolled her eyes. "Whatever. I'm gonna go for a walk."
She headed out.
As soon as she stepped outside, she got a text from Chuck.
From: Chuck
Come over?
She grinned and walked on over to his house.
——————————————————————————
It was the night of the Pep Rally. The first game the cheerleading got to cheer for. She promised herself she would be the loudest for Archie.
Even though he's been acting weird lately, she wanted to let him know she was there for him without telling him directly.
She jumped up and down with her pom poms, despite her still being sore from the night before.
She saw Jughead by the bleachers and approached him.
"You alright?" She called out as she ran up to him.
"Never been better." He sarcastically responded.
"I saw how Moose grabbed you. I was just checking in." She shrugged.
"Thanks." He blandly said.
She nodded.
"Nice outfit." He chuckled.
"Shut up." She laughed.
She saw Archie approaching them from the corner of her eye.
"Can you give us a minute?" Archie asked Alex.
She blinked. "Uh, yeah, I'm gonna go back to the field. Enjoy the game." She smiled at Jughead.
He tried his best to smile back.
She ran back to the cheerleaders. They continued to jump up and down, and cheer.
It physically hurt Alex for her to be this perky.
In the back of her mind, she had hoped Jughead and Archie would make up.
It started drizzling. She groaned. She hated rain.
She shook it off and continued being peppy. She couldn't get yelled at by Cheryl in front of anyone.
It was time for the cheerleaders to get in formation. The principal introduced the mayor.
She went on to talk about how lacking the heart of school spirit wasn't the Riverdale way.
She continued with her small speech, that Alex had already began tuning out.
Cheryl looked out of it. Alex could tell she was trying to keep herself together.
Mayor McCoy eventually introduced the cheerleaders and her daughter's band, Josie and the Pussycats.
Everyone cheered.
They started performing. Everything was going smoothly.
The song ended and so did the performance.
Everyone cheered again.
The cheering continued when the coach introduced the football players.
Alex heard and cheered as loud as she could.
Archie smiled at her.
Cheryl saw Archie and couldn't help but lose it. She ran off inside the school, leaving everyone wondering what had happened.
Veronica followed her.
"What happened?" Alex asked Betty.
She shrugged. "Lets go find out."
Betty ran, leading Alex to the building.
They walked into the girls locker room where they saw Cheryl sobbing.
They both felt bad.
"I'm alone." Cheryl continued to sob.
"You're not alone. It's okay." Veronica tried to comfort her.
Alex shed a tear. She saw Cheryl's real pain that night. She couldn't imagine losing her own brother. Looking at Cheryl made her realize that she would die if Archie was gone like Jason.
Cheryl went in to hug Veronica and sob into her shoulder.
Betty zoned out.
Eventually, Veronica advised Cheryl to go home. She obviously wasn't in the mood for a pep rally. Cheryl ended up taking her advice.
The girls went back to the football field and acted like nothing happened. The game went on and finished.
Betty was looking at Veronica like she missed.
"Go talk to her." Alex nudged her
Betty sighed.
She approached Veronica. Alex followed.
"Hey." She began. "We saw you and Cheryl."
Alex nodded when Veronica looked at her.
"Not many girls would've done what you did." Betty admitted.
"I know I wouldn't have." Alex confessed.
They chuckled.
"Full disclosure. I've had my share of emotional breakdowns." Veronica also confessed.
"If you're not doing anything, do you wanna go get a milkshake at Pop's with Alex and I?" Betty invited her.
"Are you sure?" Veronica laughed.
"Yeah." Betty assured her.
"Guys, I'd love that." She accepted.
They smiled at each other and walked off.
They went to Pop's where as promised, they got some milkshakes.
"Betty.." Veronica began. "Can we make a vow?"
Alex looked at them with curiosity.
"Sure." Betty shrugged.
"That no matter what, no boy will ever come between us again." Veronica continued.
Betty smiled.
"Deal?"
"Deal."
"Thank god for that." Alex sarcastically said. They laughed.
The chimes of the door caught their attention.
It was Archie and Jughead.
They all awkwardly smiled at each other.
"Do you guys want to join us?" Betty offered.
There was a moment of silence.
"Yes." Jughead broke it. "But only if you're treating."
They laughed. Alex slid down the booth so Betty can make room for Archie. Jughead climbed into the other side of Veronica.
Veronica introduced herself to Jughead.
He did the same, where she furrowed her brows and smiled at his name.
They all talked and laughed amongst each other for the rest of the night.
——————————————————————————
It was the Monday. Everyone was in Biology.
Chuck was in the same class now and he ignored Alex. She tried not to take it so personal but she couldn't help it.
"Hey, you okay?" Jughead noticed.
"Yeah." She shook her head and chuckled.
Jughead narrowed his eyes.
The Principal Weatherbee and Sheriff Keller walked into the class.
Everyone's attention went to them.
Cheryl suddenly stood up.
"You're here for me, aren't you?" She softly said. "Because of the autopsy?"
Everyone looked at her.
"We don't need to do this in front of your classmates, Cheryl." Weatherbee said.
"It's all right, Principal Weatherbee." Cheryl assured him. She put out her wrists for them to hand cuff. "They'll find out soon enough."
"Now that won't be necessary." Keller said, chuckling.
"Wait, Cheryl, find out what?" Veronica interjected.
"That I'm guilty." Cheryl's voice broke.
Everyone's eyes widened and gasped.
They took her out of the classroom and into the Principal's office.
Eventually, everyone found out that Jason didn't die on the Fourth of July. But that he had died over a week later.

Call- Sweet Pea imagine
Madison Finn never thought she’d be so used to sitting on the cold bench in Riverdale’s Sheriff’s Department. But here she was, for the third time that month. The deputies were no strangers as to why Madison was there at three in the morning on a Tuesday. Madison began dating a certain Southside Serpent a couple of years prior and was a regular at the jail, much to her dismay.
“It’s pretty early for you to be here Ms. Finn.” Tom Keller, Sheriff of Riverdale, said as he walked into the station.
“I feel the same way Sheriff.”
“Well he was brought in an hour ago.” The Sheriff motioned for Madison to follow him. “Who all are you bailing out?” The Sheriff asked.
“All? Who all got brought in?” Being the daughter of a lawyer had its perks, seeing as her father sent money to her while he was gone, having a house in Riverdale and Maine; where he did most of his work.
“There was a fight between your friends,” The Sheriff gave her a pointed look as he led her into his office. “and Riverdale High’s football team. There’s your normal two, Fogarty, Sweet Pea, then Parkers and Anderson.” The Sheriff named off a few different Serpents and Madison nodded. “I’m sure there were more involved but these are the four we found fleeing.”
“How much is it?” Madison began pulling her wallet out of her purse. “For the four idiots that I regret to even know.” Shaking her head, the Sheriff laughed. The Sheriff told Madison how much is was for bail for the four and she handed over the money.
“Here you go Sheriff, I hope not to see you again this month.”
“Have a goodnight Ms. Finn.” Madison walked out of the Sheriff’s office after signing the four release forms and found the four Serpents standing in the main waiting area.
“Hey Maddy.” Fangs grinned as Parkers and Anderson looked down.
“Come on.” Madison didn’t spare a glance at Sweet Pea until the five were piled into her Prius. “This is the last time I bail you out of jail.” Madison said glancing at Sweet Pea, resting her palm gently on his cheek under the black eye before looking to Fangs. “Same to you Fogarty.” Sweet Pea took the passenger seat before Madison drove her way to the Whyte Wyrm where she dropped the three boys off. “We’re having a talk tomorrow on how you’re all paying me back.” Madison drove off with Sweet Pea and once they arrived at his trailer, he hesitated on getting out.
“I’m sorry.” He stated as they sat in the car.
“I can’t keep doing this Sweet Pea.” Madison said leaning her head against the steering wheel. “I can’t keep bailing you out of jail. It’s not fair to me to be called in at three in the morning to bail you out.” Madison looked at her boyfriend who gave her an apologetic look. “Stop being an idiot.” She teased.
“Alright, alright, I’ll try, for you.” He stated before leaning over and kissing her. “Come in, it’s late, I don’t want you driving home alone.” Madison nodded and got out of the car along with Sweet Pea and the two went inside.
Over the next few weeks Madison was surprised to not hear anything of Sweet Pea being arrested, little did she know that he had told all the Serpents not to call his girlfriend whenever he was. But when she heard from Archie Andrews that Southside High had been raided, she immediately went to the Sheriff’s department.
“Ms. Finn, we aren’t releasing anyone yet. “Sheriff Keller stated as Mayor McCoy nodded with him.
“I’m afraid you are Sheriff.” Madison had immediately called her father, who was only in a few towns over who drove back to Riverdale. He had walked in behind her. Arthur Finn was a tall man, a big build and very intimidating to anyone in the small town. “What charges are you holding them all on?”
“Possession and dealing of Jingle Jangle.” Mayor McCoy stated as Madison scoffed.
“Not a single Serpent sells or does Jingle Jangle.” Madison stated with a roll of her eyes.
“Did you find any in their possession?” Arthur asked as Sheriff Keller shook his head.
“Well no,”
“Then release them. You have no grounds to hold any of these kids on. I have it in my right mind to go to the county judge and have you reprimanded for arresting these kids wrongfully and not calling any of their parents.” Stated Arthur, Sheriff Keller motioned to his deputies, whom began opening the cells and letting the Serpents out, all of who gave Madison a smile on their way. “Smart move Tom. Come on Madison.”
“I’m going to wait for Sweet Pea.” Madison noticed Toni walking out and hugged her.
“Brought the big guns huh?” Toni laughed noticing Mr. Finn by Maddy’s side.
“Had to, Keller wasn’t going to let you out with just me, and I wasn’t gonna let any of you call Peabody.”
“Better talk to Pea about that, he was getting ready to call her.” Fangs mentioned stepping up and engulfing Madison in his arms. “Thanks short stack.” Madison swatted him away from her before noticing Pea walking out of the cell.
“Thought you said you were done bailing me out.” He teased before noticing her father. “Mr. Finn.” He shook Arthurs hand before speaking.
“She didn’t, I did.” Arthur stated. “Keller was holding you against false charges.” They all began walking out of the station. “The Serpents have helped me in the past, they take care of my little girl whilst I’m gone, so I’ll look after them.” Arthur stated kissing his daughters head. “I have to head back out Be good, love you.” Maddy nodded and hugged her father before he left before she turned and punch Sweet Pea’s arm.
“You had me scared.” She said before hugging her boyfriend. “When I heard that you guys were arrested, I freaked out Sweets. Why didn’t you call me?” She asked, her face pressed to his chest.
“We didn’t want you to worry, it’s not that big of a deal Maddy.”
“Not a big deal? Sweet Pea you were in jail!” Maddy shouted at the boy as she pulled away from him. “Not a big deal? You could have been charged with drug procession!”
“None of sell drugs Maddy, besides petty weed out of the Wyrm.” He reminded her. “It’s fine, we’re fine Maddy.” Madison sighed by nodded.
“I was terrified.” She mumbled as she hugged onto him. “Don’t pull that shit anymore Sweet Pea. I get you don’t want me to worry but I worry more when you don’t call me.”
“I promise to call you from now on.”
“Just make it before I go to bed baby.”  Madison smiled at her boyfriend. “Lets go home.”
As always, thank you for reading my loves! I apologize for being gone for awhile, things have been tough with University but I am still working on Commitment part 2. This piece is unedited as I wanted to get it out and I’m sorry it was shorter than normal.

Four days had gone by since you found the video and handed it over to the Sheriff. Four days since Clifford Blossom hung himself. Four days since the Blossom’s drug run came out into the open. And now, everyone was condemned to face the aftermath.
On Monday, Betty post an article to the Blue and Gold webpage that shed truth on all that had been going on in Riverdale and in defense of FP. It was some of her best work. Meanwhile, the Sheriff was drilling FP trying to get names of the Serpent drug runners. At the same time, Veronica’s mother was starting to prepare for her husband’s return. You and Jughead were trying to figure out your next move.
On Tuesday, you, Archie, and Betty had been called down to the Principal’s office. You and Archie still hadn’t really talked and the truth was that he was worried about you. His worry only grew when he found that you weren’t at school. The purpose of the meeting was simple. Principal Weatherbee and Mayor McCoy wanted you and Archie to perform at the 75th anniversary Jubilee with Josie and the Pussy cats. They also wanted Betty to give a speech to inspire town unity. Betty asked why Jughead was being left out, after all, he did the most in solving Jason’s murder. The mayor gave a very political answer and then dismissed both Archie and Betty.
As they left, Archie asked Betty if she had seen you or if she had any clue where you were. She didn’t, but she noted that she hadn’t seen Jughead either. Archie wondered where the two of you were.
The answer to that question was at the police station. FP was technically your guardian and seeing as he was looking at being in prison for a long period of time, you and Jughead would have to find a new guardian or be placed in the foster system. You immediately called Archie’s dad in tears.
When he showed up he talked to Keller and offered to take you and Jughead in. The problem was that social workers were already involved and everything had to be official. He didn’t meet the requirements to host one of you let alone both of you. There were two foster families on the southside that agreed to take one of you in, that not only meant that the two of you would be split up, but you would both have to attend Southside High. Upon hearing this you had enough and ran out of the station.
Why was this happening? You didn’t want to leave, this was your home. You had already lost so much, you didn’t want to lose Archie too. You knew that if you went to the Southside that everything would change. You wanted to scream, to punch something, to hide away from everything. And so, you started walking towards the river.
Meanwhile back at school, Cheryl was being odd even for Cheryl. She was giving away things and saying goodbyes. Veronica confronted her and told her that everything would get better. But Cheryl wasn’t sad, she was at peace, which completely threw Veronica off. Betty had called Jughead and discovered what had happened that morning. He informed her that he would be arriving back at school any minute.
Archie called you for what seemed like the hundredth time. At this point you either didn’t have your phone, it was dead, or you were purposefully ignoring him. He went to send you a text but Veronica pulled him away along with Jughead.
“Veronica, what’s going on?” he asked.
“It’s Betty” was all she said before they got to the crowded hall. They pushed their way through and saw that someone had vandalized her locker. There were many copies of her article along with a hanging voodoo doll. The whole thing was covered in blood that read ‘Go To HELL SERPENT SLUT’. Jughead quickly stepped in between her and the scene.
“Betty,” he whispered.
She ran into his arms trying to rip the papers down, “It’s just some jerk with a can of spray paint” he cried.
“Betty,” he said as he held her firmly, “I don’t think that’s spray paint,” he said as he forced her away.
The entire group locked themselves in the blue and gold office and comforted her. After a while, Archie asked Jug if he knew where you were. That is when Jug informed everyone about what had happened at the Sheriff’s station that morning. They were all in shock over the news. Betty and Veronica called their mom’s about taking you in. Veronica’s said no because of Hiram's return and Betty’s said they couldn’t with Polly and the babies. Everything was happening so fast.
Archie was going to leave and look for you so you wouldn’t have to go through all of this alone. But before he could, Veronica received a text from Cheryl. ‘Thanks for trying, I’m going to be with JJ’ it read.
“Om my god” she gasped showing the message to her friends.
“Where would Cheryl go to be with Jason?” Betty questioned.
“Sweetwater River” Archie realized and they all raced there.
------------------Meanwhile-----------------------
Sweetwater River had always been the place you came when you needed to clear your head. There was something so serene about it, especially in the wintertime. You walked around for a while, trudging through the snow, your only regret was that you weren’t wearing warmer clothes. You went to the lookout and noticed that there was someone on the ice. You quickly realized that it was Cheryl Blossom. You made your way down to the bank and called out to her. She simply ignored you and started pounding on the ice.
You had no choice and carefully walked out to her. “Cheryl, what are you doing out here?” you asked.
She was absolutely distraught, “I’m going to be with JJ.”
“Come on Cheryl, let’s go back to the bank and we can talk about this,” you instructed calmly.
“I don’t want to go back, I just want this to be over,” she cried.
“It’s okay Cheryl it’s all going to be okay, we just have to get off the ice”
“No, it’s never going to be okay again,” she sobbed.
“Cheryl I understand what you're going through, I was thinking the same thing when I lost my parents, but it gets better I promise.”
“It can’t” she cried.
You were going to continue, but you felt the ice shift ever-so-slightly under your feet. At this time you could hear Archie and the gang calling out for Cheryl. This was scary as you didn’t know how it would force her to react.
You refocused your attention on her, “Come on Cheryl, let’s go” you tried ignoring your friends.
“I can’t go back,” she whispered.
“Yes, you can. Jason would want you to. He would want you to live your life. Please come with me, do it for Jason,” you tried starting to get desperate.
Cheryl paused for a moment, it felt like an eternity, before she nodded her head in agreement. You sighed in relief and put your arms around her guiding her back when you heard the cracking.
There was no time to react before both you and Cheryl were underwater. It was so dark and cold. You had an arm around Cheryl and worked against the current to force her back to the surface. It was all happening so fast. You tried to focus on the light was coming from the hole where the two of you fell in. You pushed her up as someone was pulling her out of the water. It was a struggle as the current felt like it was getting stronger, or maybe your body was just starting to go numb. You tried to fight your way back over to the surface but it was becoming too hard. All you could focus on was how cold it was. And then you couldn’t focus at all.
-----
“Oh my god, Cheryl’s on the ice” Betty said as they got to the shoreline where they could see.
“Who is that with her?” Veronica asked.
“It’s Y/n” Archie whispered fear sinking in.
“Shouldn’t we go get them?” Veronica asked wondering why they were just standing there.
“We can’t V, it’s not safe” Betty answered.
“She’s right, we don’t want to risk putting too much weight on the ice,” Jughead agreed.
They watched in utter silence as the scene unfolded before them, only able to hear fragments of sentences.
“Okay, they’re coming back,” Veronica acknowledged.
They were relieved momentarily, but then they watched in horror as the ice cracked submerging both of you.
Archie sprinted out to the hole and laid on his stomach shoving his hand through to grab Cheryl. He ignored how cold it was and how his muscles ached from the action. Jughead was soon by his side helping him pull her out. As soon as she was, she was coughing and freaking out. Jughead ordered Betty and Veronica to take her back to the shore, wanting to minimize the weight on the ice. Archie went back for you but the current was starting to pull you away. He scooted himself forward and reached again desperately, just barely managing to grab your jacket. It was enough though and he was able to pull you closer and get a better grip before pulling you out.
As he got you out of the water he was freaking out. You were unconscious and so cold. He lowered his ear over your mouth, listening to see if you were breathing. You weren’t. He didn’t hesitate to start CPR, terrified of screwing it up. Jughead had no choice but to stand there and watch.
“Come on, Y/n!” Archie cried out as he started doing chest compressions again. This wasn’t happening. Jughead turned away, he couldn’t watch. But suddenly he heard you start coughing up water and gasping for air before passing out again.
As you started to come to, you were freezing and very confused. You faintly remember being picked up and carried. You remember hearing Archie apologize repeatedly as he stripped off your wet clothes and slipped one of his shirts over your head. He went downstairs grabbed a space heater, blankets, and hot cocoa. When he returned, he took his shirt off and put some sweatpants on before joining you. He was holding you tightly and you were thankful for the warmth that radiated off of him.
“Archie?” you sniffled.
“Y/n, hey, how are you feeling?” he asked rubbing his hands over your arms.
“Cold” you tried to joke.
“I’m so glad that you’re okay,” he replied.
“You saved my life,” you whispered.
“And you saved Cheryls” he reminded.
“Is she okay?”
“Yeah, she’s with Veronica now.”
You wrapped yourself around him and he readjusted the blankets around the two of you.
“Thank you,” you smiled.
“Here, I made you hot chocolate,” he said as he handed you a mug.
You took it and sipped it slowly. Before handing it back to him to set down. You cuddled back into his side mesmerized by him.
“I love you Archie,” you whispered as you were being lulled back to sleep allowing the exhaustion take over.
“I love you too Y/n,” he said kissing the top of your head.
At that moment he knew that no matter what happened with the jubilee, the social worker, and anything else that life decided to hurl at you, that the two of you would be okay. You had each other and that is all that really mattered.

Not my moodboard
Pairing(s): Sweet Pea x POC Reader
Warning(s): swearing, angst, fluff
Summary: Y/n has got an axe to grind and some missed placed rage. Who better than Sweet Pea to help her out.
A/N: This takes place somewhere in season 2. I like my Sweet soft but tuff around the edges so be prepared. Also reblog or comment and I'll add you to the Taglist.
Word Count: 4k+
Wrappers and loose leaf pages decorated the floor around your feet. The awful mood that hung on your shoulders since receiving the worst news of your life only seemed to pile higher and higher.
“Where the hell is it?” You curse ripping yet another item form your locker and tossing it to the tiled hallway floor.
The pastel pink snake plushie flew from the top shelf.  Sweet Pea had won you that on your last trip to Midnight Park , a cruddy little amusement park just pass Greendale barely worth the trip. The small theme park had been a home away from since you guys were kids. Fangs and Pea would compete for prizes at every single booth while you and Toni took on every coaster in sight.
Naturally Sweet Pea would take you there as a first date. Insisting Pop's just wasn't special enough. After taking down three 8 year olds, a 12 year old and two 14 year olds in a water gun race Sweet Pea presented you with the goofy pink snake with enough charm to rival his own.
The teddy usually proudly positioned at the top of your cluttered locker now lay on top of your dingy white canvas high tops.
The longer you searched the small confides of the metal walls the more your temper edged over its peak.
You slammed the now empty locker enough force to rattle a few beside it. It rang up and down the corridor. The mob of teens rushing to morning classes almost shrieked to a standstill to find the source of the abrupt commotion.
“Jeez Y/n, are you okay!?” The former lead pussycat turned river vixen asked placing a concerned hand on your shoulder. One of the last people you wanted to see at the moment. All too easy of a target to lose the full weight of your rising temper.
Cynical laughter erupted from your chest as you turned to face her. She had no idea the unbridaled flames that wait behind that glass smile you gave her.
“You would know wouldn't you, Popstar Princess. Or are you too busy to care about what happens to the Southside?” You quipped down at the girl who barely made it past your shoulders.
Out of the corner of your e/c eyes you see Toni and Fangs turn the corner just in time to watch the scene unfold. You shrug.  Your rage in every sense was grounded.
Toni knew that wild look in your eyes all to well. She tugged the taller serpent down and whispered something to him. Fangs simply nodded and pulled out his phone. He exchanged a few phrases and then hung up all without his eyes leaving your face.
Too bad you couldn't bring yourself to care.
“What's that supposed to mean?”
Hostility steeping dangerously hot between the two of you.
“Oh just that your Mom is doing great job of screwing over the Southside!” The venom that had been boiling in your veins finally slipping over.
“My mom is just doing her job!”
“I'd sure as hell hate to see what it looks when she doesn't!”
“What is your problem?”
“Don't even get me started. Shit, even you aren't that blind, Primadonna?! Let me see I can't pick between her being a hypocrite or forcing me and family out on the street.”
“Y/n, I'm so so sorry it's jus-”
“But tell me how does she possibly fit the time in her busy schedule to pull all nighters with Sheriff Keller in sleazy little motel rooms.” You hissed pulling your ring clad hands into a tight fist.
Each finger arrayed in metal and cheap gemstones. Your h/c curls hung freely as a menacing glare settled onto your features.
Astonished gasp sweeps through the crowd.
“What the hell are you trying to say?” Josie's remorseful confusion melted into furious indignation.
Wild eyed embarrassment made its way onto her face. Your lips curl in sneer as you clear your throat. Before the words could leave your lips grunts and curses rippled from the back of the mob of teens.
“Move the fuck out of my way.” Rang the gruff voice of the tall dark haired serpent pushing his way through the crowd  and glaring down at anyone who dared to question him just to plant himself directly behind to you.
A firm warm hand grasped your shoulder. His touch nearly cold compared to the searing heat broiling just below your brown skin. You glance long enough to meet the soft pleading expression that played across his features.
For a split second your confidence crumbled into conflicted confusion. The hurt just below the surface peeking through. A lapse in your molten fury that was cold and vulnerable revealed itself to his piercing deep brown eyes.
“Y/n. Don't.” He warned gently. A simple request to leave that night where it was.
To leave that night at Shady Palms a memory. A memory swallowed in secrets. Secrets that didn't belong to either of you. You both just witnesses to one of the many lies that litter this town. A lie on the Northside two serpents were never supposed to see.
“How about we grab some snacks then we can try that corkscrew thing I was telling you about.” You giggle pulling Pea's blazer onto your shoulders as you both exited the motel room. Hiding away the lacey f/c bra from the outside world as you straighten your black pencil skirt and shuffle into your shoes.
The defined h/c curls that crowned your head and elegantly framed your face at the beginning of the evening were now ruffled and slightly frizzed.  Strong thick fingers had worked themselves in and out and around them. Pretty much ruining the style.
Not that you could complain. His methods were proving to be quite satisfactory to say the least.
“Baby, if I knew all you needed to be absolute freak was a room at Shady Palms, I never would have waited for a special occasion to bring you here.” Pea laughed tucking his hands into his slack pockets not bothering to button the top half of his white dress shirt. He wore the red trail of hickies down his neck and chest with pride. His thick charcoal locks were smoothed back and out of eyes. Making those chocolate irises even more captivating.
Sweet Pea finally dawning something without leather or a snake on it.
You didn't look like serpents tonight.
You just looked like teens. Teens with trouble in your eyes and hope hidden behind every smile. You almost looked like you belonged on this side of town. Like maybe you crept from your bedrooms as your loving parents held each other in their own bed as the tikes slept soundly down the hall and your golden retriever curled up on the edge of your bed.
The only tell of Southside on you both was the serpent ink.
You shoved the giant teen and nearly tripped over your creme colored pumps.
“You still can't walk in those things?” Pea snickered offering his arm to steady you.
“I wear them to keep up with you. It's not my fault I've got to look like a giraffe to do that.” You grumbled while accepting his arm and tucking yourself into his side.
A smirk settled on his face genuinely happy to welcome your warm frame close to his own. You rest your head on his shoulder.
“A sexy ass giraffe.” Sweet Pea chuckled.
You couldn't help but laugh at him and how matter of factly he said it. A snort escaping your throat only made him laugh even harder.
“Right this way Mayor McCoy.” The hardy voice of Sheriff Keller rang out as he stepped into the hazy fluorescent light with a self assured grin on his face.
The laughter died in your throats. Your feet cement themselves to the ground. Pea slid his hand from his pocket and laced his fingers into yours. You pressed your palm flush against his.
A silent promise of loyalty.
Not matter what.
Mayor McCoy shook her head latching onto his arm.
“Oh come Tom, how many times do have to tell you. Call me Sierra.” She giggled tugging a puppy dog eyed Sheriff Keller into a room a few doors away from where you and Pea stood frozen.  But not before she pulled Keller’s lips down to hers.
“Shit?!?” Pea muttered as you both stared transfixed on the Mayor and Sheriff tangled around each other.
Both watching as the door shut to the cheap room.  Waiting for the click like it was permission to breath. With that the tension in the air fizzled.
“I really hope they don't need anything from the vending machine.” You snickered awkwardly looking up at Pea doing your best to resurrect the bubbly energy of before.
Sweet Pea took the bait as he pressed a kiss onto the back of your palm and wrapped his arm around your soft hips.
“I don't think Skittles come in a self righteous flavor yet so we're safe.”
Your steps retake the aimless trot to the machine glittering in the moonlight at the corner. Little jokes tumble back and forth from your lips to his. Leaving whatever those two were doing in that room.  Leaving the illusion of the North side intact.
Here was so Safe. And so Honest. And so Pure.
...
You snatch yourself free from his grip pressing the overflowing emotions back down in their bottle.
“Are all you northsiders that dense? It seems that our beloved Mayor McCoy is busying putting in overtime screwing-”
“Oh Fuck You, Trailer Trash!” Josie screamed pushing you square in the chest ruffling the grey tee with sleeves cuffed and blood red script reading Try Me Bitch.
You stumble back.
Ooos ripple from the surrounding crowd.
“Take it back, Pussybrat!” You demand stepping up to her.
“Why should I! Hey maybe you tell your parents to pay their damn rent and they wouldn't have these problems when someone actually does what their job.” The mob continued to instigate.
Your chest tightened. The rapid drumming of your own heartbeat filled your ears.
“You'll be lucky if you can stand after saying that shit to me!” You snarled her sweater dress filling your fist and drawing back with the other.
No hesitation.
You swung full force only for your body to be snatched backwards and slung into the air and finally over an impossibly broad shoulder.
“What the hell!”You bark trying to shake yourself free from the constrictor grip Sweet Pea had on your hips.
His signature scent of cheap cologne and wildflowers gave him away immediately.
“Josie you okay?” Pea mused ignoring your protests as he helped her to her feet.
“She sure as hell won't be if your let me finish what I started. Put me the fuck down!” You growl slamming your fists into his back over and over again.
“She's sorry too.” Sweet Pea shrugged making no indication he even felt your hits.
Josie just nodded waving him off as she straightened her mustard mini dress with off the shoulder puffed sleeves.
A steady ache in your fists made that clear he was unphased so you stopped.
“You can bet your pretty ass I'm not.” You spat wiggling in Pea's firm grasp.
He kissed his teeth and turned away from her as the crowd parted letting him through. No one was willing to chance the absolutely definite asskicking they'd get if they didn't step out of his way.
Your curses circled the hallways as he rounded the corner. It wasn't until he stepped inside the empty gymnasium did he place you on the ground.
“You crossed a line back there.” Sweet Pea scolded staring down at you in utter disbelief.
“No Pea I didn't you made sure of that!” You huffed crossing your arms glaring back at those disappointed dark eyes.
Don't gimme that look.
“You know what I'm talking about! Shit,Y/n! We made a promise not to say a word. That was not your shit to unpack!”
“Someone had to pop the wannabe teen idol's bubble! She was gonna find out eventually!”
“You didn't do that for her! That's not why you said that shit! You had half school watching! THAT IS NOT HOW YOU HAN-”
“I HAD THAT SHIT HANDLED, PEA!”
“LIKE HELL YOU DID, L/N!” Sweet Pea shouted throwing his hands in the air. His own temper flaring which only fueled yours. Sweet Pea cut his eyes away from you.
“YOU HEARD THAT COCKY LITTLE BITCH, PEA! YOU HEARD HER CALL ME TRAILER TRASH! SWEETS, YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE THE ONE ON MY SIDE!! AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT CARES THAT THE NORTHSIDE IS TRYING TO SNUFF US OUT!” You raged eyes wild as you press your curls away from your face and those e/c eyes of yours settle on the ground. The shame of it all beginning to set in.
“I heard it and any other day I would have chewed that brat out, but I'm not standing by so you can total McCoy's ass and get suspended. Babe who else's side could I be on? Why do think I tossed your crazy ass over my shoulder? You've got to chill you're starting to sound like Jones.”He snickered rolling his eyes doing his very best to lighten your mood.
But the tension pressed into your features didn't clear.
“SWEETS I'M SERIOUS! IT'S LIKE THEY'RE TRYING TO ERASE THE SOUTHSIDE! FIRST OUR SCHOOL! THEN OUR JACKETS! THEN OUR CLOTHES! AND NOW OUR HOMES! THEY'RE TAKING EVERY PIECE OF THE SOUTHSIDE FROM US! Before we know it ...they'll be...nothing left.” You fumed stepping toward him and taking his hand in yours halfway expecting him to pull away.
He didn't.
Instead he curls his warm fingers around yours without hesitation. Perfectly surrounding your hand so naturally as if his were made to intertwined with yours.
“Gonna take a wild guess this doesn't have shit to do with Josie.”
Your words stick to the mucus that starts to coat your throat. Eyes glassy now, you just nod as you try to swallow the lump forming in your throat.
He always could read you like an open book. Hell most people could but he was good at it. All the hidden meaning and subtext were child's play for him. He just knew you.
Pea's your even match. He always made you feel safe and like nothing could get to you. Like the world just couldn't knock you down. Like as long as you had each other there wasn't anything that could tear you two apart. That you didn't have to cry if you didn't want to.
But not now…
Everything just kept crumbling. The hot tears you'd been sealing away since you tore that eviction notice from your door stung at the corners of eyes.
“Aye Y/n, we're fine. We're gonna make it Serpents always do.” He whispered confidently pulling you into him and your head to his chest gently stroking h/c curls away from your face.
“Sweets, I'm sorry. Just sorry. So fucking sorry.” You muttered wrapping your arms tightly around his waist. Trying pull him as close to you as possible. Anchoring yourself in his frame. Hoping to hide every fallen tear in the fabric of his black shirt. Teeth tearing into your bottom lip as you beg yourself to be strong.
"No you're not Baby. What did you do? Why are you apologizing?” He hummed trying his best to just hold you. Hold onto your trembling form while you unraveled in his arms. Wrapping himself around your broken parts so he could brace your fall.
Vulnerably for you was the hardest. You hated to let him see you break down and hurt and cry. Giving him part of the weight of the pain you carried always gave you pause.
Could he still love me when I break.
Could he still love me when I fall apart in front of him.
You had a tendency to hold it all in usually until it all came pouring out. Sweet Pea gently rubbed circles into your back and tangled his fingers into your soft h/c curls.
And waited.
“Yes I am.  I'm so sc…so scared. Sweets, I'm sorry because I'm scared. I've been so scared for days. I haven't been sleeping. Barely eating. I don't have anywhere else. Sunnyside is all I've got. I can't go anywhere else. Aren't you scared, Pea? I'm terrified. I haven't been this scared in a long time. I was trying to be brave. I wanted to be brave for you, for Cass, for the serpents, for everyone , but… I just can't. What are we gonna do?! Fuck I can't be some foster kid! What if they take me from all of this. All I've ever known! What if they take me away from the serpents! What about Cass? What about Fangs?! What about Toni?! What about Jug and FP?! What about you Sweets?! I Can't Lose Everything Again! I Can't Lose You! Fuck Keller! Fuck the Mayor! Fuck My Folks…fuck them…they.” Your voice hitched in your throat. You couldn't bring your lips to form those words.
You trembled steadily.
...
The morning after your older sister's graduation. The stillness of the small metal house.
The quietness.
Completely uncanny. No fussing baby brothers woke you that morning. No 4 year old sister to throw a fit as you move her toys from the middle of the hallway floor. No smell of burning bacon and oatmeal filled the air. The loud curses traded between your mom and her boyfriend never came.
The tidiness. Like it had been professionally cleaned. Just an empty trailer and 10 year old.
A freshly sober big sister sat on the rickety sofa with an unopened beer next to a crumpled sheet of notebook paper. Her diploma tossed on the far side of the room. She just stared at the place where the tv should have been. Your little fingers unraveled the wad of notebook paper only to find a half assed letter.
Princess,
I'm done waiting for him. We're Leaving. Cass will take care of you.
Good Luck, Sweetheart.
scribbled in your mom's handwriting smeared with her signature peachy pink lipstick. Just below that a dingy 20 was taped to the page. Hot tears barreled down your cheeks as Cass stood snatching the beer from the table.
You latch yourself to her wrist. Pleas for her to stay rip from your lips. Snot trailing down your face as she freed herself from your grip.
“Screw them! Princess my ass! What the hell does she think a 20 is gonna do for the rest of your life!” She hissed slamming the trailer door.
The motorcycle revving and spraying the loose gravel by the trailer as she sped off out of the Sunnyside. You sat sticky faced with your knees tucked to your chest on the steps and prayed that someone would come back home.
...
“You don't have to say it. Baby, I know. Trust me I know.” Sweet Pea breathed unevenly as he squeezed you gently. He held the same tension in his shoulders as you.
The last couple days Sweets had been busy doing jobs for the Serpents. Pulling gigs well into the night. A welcomed distraction from the mass eviction of Sunnyside Trailer Park.
His home and the home of over half the Serpents.
His family.
Everything was falling apart.
The look of ruin that flashed across his aunt's face only to be replaced with solemn hopelessness sent chills down his spine.
Everything you both had ever known was teetering by a thread and you had been trying to shoulder it all by yourself.
You had hidden your terror in texts and in silly jokes and songs when he called. Assuring him that the Northside couldn't phase you. No matter what.
You lied and he believed.
Moments like these made it painfully clear in the grand scheme of this war between North and South you were still children who knew too little and whose voices didn't matter enough.
The silence was almost suffocating.
“Baby, you don't have to apologize,”He paused to cup your face in hands just to be sure your eyes met his, “We're all pretty damn scared. I've had knots in my stomach for days. I thought it be easier to ignore this bullshit. Wait for it to blow over, but only seems grow.  Shit's hit the fan. Every time the Southside makes a statement it's punished. Drowned out like we don't deserve this town. Like we couldn't possibly know what this town does in the dark. The crime. The murder. The theft. The drugs. Hell even the psychos. Somehow are all thought to be spawns of serpents. Like all the demons of this town must be ours. But if their honest with themselves every monster that haunts this hell hole is of their own making. Lies are the only thing holding everything together. But we won't roll over and die. They can't tear us apart. Or scare us into submission.” He spilled out as if he'd been holding his breath. Pea bit his lip as a tear or two dribbled down his cheeks. His deep brown eyes holding such a courageous fear.
Like he was too afraid not to be brave.  He had somehow managed to push all his fears and his worries into unadulterated boldness.
“Pea look at us we're a mess. Cryin and shit.” You smiled brushing a tear from his cheek.
“Baby, I'm not afraid of what I feel. You shouldn't be either.” He teased pressing a chaste kiss on your lips which was probably salty and snotty and gross. He made no indication he cared. He just returned your weak smile.
“I'm trying. It's just hard you know.” You mumbled placing your forehead against his chest.
“I know. I know. You did pretty good.”
“Really?”
“Really, Y/n. Just don't attack anymore cheerleaders. I think they put people off the squad for that shit.” He chuckled lifting your chin and placing a kiss on your forehead.
“I owe her an apology, don't I?” You wince rolling your puffy e/c eyes and taking his hand. Sweet Pea shrugged.
“You told like half school about her mom's affair so probably.” He nodded following you to the doors to the hallway.
Before you could reach them; the gymnasium doors swung open to reveal a very worried Fangs, Jughead, and Toni.
Your faces still wet and tear streaked. Especially yours.
“So this where you love birds ran off to.” Jughead snarked the worry peeling off his face.
Fangs without hesitation pulled you away from Sweet Pea and into a bear hug.
“Oh Y/n,”  He cooed then held you by the shoulders scolding you, “What hell is wrong with you?!? Picking fights with the mayor's daughter?!? You wanna get rounded up all over again?!”
Sweet Pea snickered at the over affectionate serpent, but he still shifted to catch your expression to be sure Fangs wasn't upsetting you all over again.
“Sorry Fangs.” You smirked sheepishly.
Fangs nodded and pulled you in for another hug before letting you go. Toni shoving him eagerly aside.
“Outta my way, Mama Bear.” Toni said meeting your eyes with a burning ferociousity.
Toni's fairy-like stature was entirely inconsequential when she hit you with a face like that. Just a reminder she was very capable of kicking the ass of anyone in the room.
She traded death glares between you and Sweet Pea.
“Toni, I kno-” You cleared your thought to offer an apology, but she cut off with a hand.
“That was really stupid and-”
“And I shouldn't have done that.” You sighed hanging your head. Your temper had put Sweet Pea's shame.
“AND really bad ass!” She smiled punching you in the arm and then hugging you.
“Get over here Pea. Thanks for snatching up this crazy bitch.”
“Somebody had to.”The larger serpent just cheesed motioning for the other boys to join the hug.
The ring of bell brought the full house moment to the end. The five of you headed out attempting to pretend nothing had happened and get to 2nd period on time.

this is what riverdale is about (part 4)
part 1
part 2
part 3
i’m back, to continue from where we left off. obnoxiously, i’m going to take a minute to plug my patreon, which is primarily for my webcomic but i also do movie reviews and talk about bad books i find so if you like these posts, you’ll probably like those as well. all i ask....is one dollar a month.
anyway fuck that let’s get back into this.
images are from the riverdale wiki
SEASON ONE (PART 2):
Tumblr media
the last picture show: immediately this show reveals that our beloved jughead has been living in a nearly abandoned drive-in that he also works at. too bad for him, because it’s closing down. hilariously, literally nobody in his circle of friends cares and call his make-shift house a crack den. owned. its revealed an anonymous buyer purchased it from the town and the mayor decided to sell it to whoever.
archie brings flowers to his teacher-girlfriend’s recital and when he and grundy (and his dad) head to pop’s for a good ol malt or whatever, betty confronts him about his relationship. betty is hurt when he says grundy believed in him when no one else did and goes home with renewed purpose: take grundy down.
veronica’s mom is caught having a heated argument with a member of the southside serpents gang next to a dumpster by cheryl who, as she delights in misery and disaster, captures it all on camera. she shows veronica, who confronts her mother who brushes her off.
betty lures grundy into a fake interview for her school paper instead of going to the police. betty seems to be determining all of this based on the fact that she didnt have any social media until a year ago, which really makes me question betty’s journalistic bonefides. its framed like this means she didn’t exist before she got a twitter or whatever. its really weird. more relevant is that the only record of a geraldine grundy.....WAS AN OLD WOMAN WHO DIED 7 YEARS AGO!!!!! she takes this information to archie as well, who doesn’t care at all. he’s way too horny to care.
betty breaks into grundy’s vw bug and finds a gun and her real i.d. with her real name. archie is still too horny to care, even though betty (again, really overstepping her journalistic bounds) says that grundy might have killed jason (BASED ON THE EXISTENCE OF A GUN BETTY!!! COME ON). archie finally asks grundy straight up what the fuck is going on and she cops to trying to escape from an abusive husband, hence the gun and fake names.
jughead finds out that archie’s dad’s construction company won the bid to destroy the drive-in. its a bad time to be jughead. he tries to ask archie’s dad not to tear down the drive-in. through this convo we learn that jughead’s dad was fired from andrews construction several years ago for theft. a scene after this reveals that veronica’s mom is facilitating the purchase of the drive-in with the mayor pn behalf of her incarcerated husband.
i’m so glad the wiki reminded me of this line, word for word: everyone (and i mean literally everyone in town) goes to the drive-in for one last hurrah, where the southside serpents are guffawing up a storm. veronica somehow silences them by saying “You know what happens to a snake when a Louboutin heel steps on it? Shut the hell up or you’ll find out.“ it sucks so bad. veronica then witnesses her mother having an encounter with the same gang member who she is revealed to be paying to drive down the value of the drive-in property so hiram lodge can buy it for cheap.
archie and grundy are caught in a passionate embrace after betty’s mom reads her diary and goes on the warpath, rightfully telling her to get the fuck out of town or she’ll reveal her to be a child molester. grundy agrees to leave and archie is heartbroken. the last show of geraldine this season is her ogling two teen boys. horrible. leave, woman.
jughead leaves his shitty home and on his way out is accosted by the same gang member who was talking to hermoine lodge and is revealed to be....JUGHEADS DAD!!!!!!!!!! whatever.
Tumblr media
heart of darkness: the town is abuzz with jason’s upcoming funeral and the teens of riverdale are fighting over who gets to take the dead kids spot as captain of the football team in a really normal and not at all super ghoulish way. archie is working his heart out now that his favorite teacher/pedophile has fled town. he has his time wasted by a member of the pussycats, valerie, who nets him a meeting with a music songwriter who tells archie he doesn’t have time for his shit. its a weird and totally pointless scene in the long run. it doesnt matter because archie’s music thing never comes to anything. the guy tells archie later, when he returns with sheet music, that his songs suck shit and he hates his music and to get out of his office.
jason and polly’s (betty’s sister) relationship seems to be at the center of whatever happened to jason, so betty starts asking around town about her sister, by using dates as a cover to ask probing questions to members of the football team. she also tries asking her father, who explains that polly and jason had a fight, polly tried to kill herself and so was shipped off to a mental institution. learning about jason’s death fucked her up again so they shan’t be exposing her to more sordid info about the events. the only information they get is that jason was selling drugs to raise money to leave town.
betty and jughead trace this thread to find out why jason would want to leave town but veronica is already finding out firsthand after she is invited to the blossom mansion for the world’s worst sleepover before the memorial (cool timing): the blossoms are all insane. they make their money on maple syrup, using the funds to build riverdale as we know it. veronica and cheryl bond over their awful parents and versonic encourages cheryl to act out at jason’s memorial FOR SOME REASON. KNOWING FULL WELL WHO CHERYL IS.
demonstrating extremely normal judgement, betty and jughead plan to raid jason’s room during the memorial to find clues. cheryl goes full hamlet, throwing herself on the coffin and weeping during her eulogy. they use this as cover to sneak away and go commit the worst social faux-pax you truly can do. however, they are interrupted by cherly’s senile grandmother, nana rose, who mistakes her for polly and reveals polly and jason were engaged.
betty takes this information to her father who reveals he already knows but forbid the arrangement because the blossoms and the coopers have been trying to kill each other for decades over the whole maple syrup empire thing. betty and jughead later suspect her dad broke into the sheriff's office to steal his files related to uhhh everything i guess; a hunch which turns out to be correct.
meanwhile veronica’s mom is sent a live snake by the serpent gang, calls big strong fred andrews to come save her and then asks him for a job.
Tumblr media
faster pussycats! kill! kill!: first of all fuck, the name of this ep.
archie, for some reason because i guess he doesn’t know what embarrassment is, decides he’s going to play an original song he wrote for the school talent show. he immediately gets stage fright at the try-outs and wusses out. veronica goes behind his back to sign him up anyway. thanks, asshole!
valerie, from the last ep, quits the pussycats because josie is slightly more stressed than usual about uhhh the talent show. also because she has a crush on archie for some reason.
hermoine, while acting as fred andrews’ new secretary, realizes he’s fucking BROKE. why’d he hire her? who knows. too late now. she suggests firing some people (for example............her, maybe, fred) but fred cant bear it...and is hoping to be saved by the newest construction job he doesn’t know that hermoine is manipulating under the table. much like his son, fred is now too horny to care and they make out while veronica watches awkwardly.
the remaining pussycats try to figure out what to do about their missing member problem. josie’s mom helpfully lays out that they need a strong woman of color, but not one prettier or more talented than josie. enter...VERONICA!!! who is miffed because archie replaced her with valerie in the talent show duet. veronica is now scientifically less pretty and talented than josie by show standards, which just rules because i love thinking that there are teen power rankings in riverdale.
betty and jughead make their way to visit polly at The Sisters Of Quiet Mercy which is literally the best name for a goth cover band in the world. surprise! polly is pregnant with jason’s baby. polly reveals she and jason planned to run away together, but she was caught by her parents and sent away. she then awkwardly asks how jason is and someone has to break the news to her.
josie’s dad makes a brief appearance, which i absolutely do not remember at all. i thought he only showed up in season 3 which makes mayor mccoys character arc way more awkward. anyway, the mccoy family, the andrews and the lodges all have dinner together to discuss business and its awkward as all hell. no one at the table likes the andrews.
betty straight up asks her dad if he killed jason and her mom laughs her ass off at the idea of betty’s soft white suburban ham shank looking dad being able to kill a weed much less a human. keep that in mind.
veronica’s mom forges veronica signature on a form allowing andrews construction to move ahead with the job.
jughead and betty kiss after talking about how they arent their parents. keep that in mind. anyway, betty takes jughead to a car polly mentioned that full of EVIDENCE. they take picture of it and leave the car to go tell the sheriff because i guess suddenly no one has cellphones.  jughead and betty return with the sheriff later to find the car has been light up by an unknown person. almost immediately after, bughead tries to rescue polly at the institution only to find she’s already bailed. welp.
josie and valerie make up and all four pussycats perform. josie’s dad walks out on her performance? harsh. cool dad moves.
archie sings and the crowd loves it. who gives a shit.
a kid died, guys. come on.

El Amor Todo Lo Puede        Chapter 36:   Rescue
Tumblr media
Source:  @fortheloveofbarba
Chapters 1-35
Laura was not alone in being sick with worry, fear, anxiety and frustration.  The entire squad room full of cops and investigators were tired, edgy, and ready to explode.  They all knew what Andrew Rhee, the newly-paroled violent criminal who had threatened to kill Rafael, had done to other people whose sins against him were far less than putting him in prison.  And he’d had Rafael under his control for the past fifteen hours.
Rhee’s girlfriend, Dina, was much luckier than she knew that D.A. McCoy had remained to assist in the effort to recover his prosecutor. More than half the people in the squad room would happily have burst into the interrogation room and beat information out of her if he hadn’t been there, and that included Chief Dodds.
It wasn’t that Dodds was particularly fond of A.D.A. Barba.  He could take him or leave him.  For Dodds, the problem was Dina.  She was a piece of work.  Her nasal Long Island accent was made only more irritating by the whiny, entitled tone she used to say pretty much everything.  She had as little respect for cops as her boyfriend did, and was enjoying her moment in the spotlight.  Dodds, who was used to going home at a reasonable hour, was about to ask McCoy how strongly-held the Mayor’s position on waterboarding really was.
Laura had stopped being able to listen to the interrogation some time before.  First, she’d spent time talking with her team, trying to come up with something – anything – that would help them narrow the search.  They were getting nowhere, and were now only irritating one another going over old ground.  She’d just decided to offer her help to the investigators trying to find connections between Rhee and real estate on Long Island when she felt a hand on her shoulder.
She turned around, jumpy, cross, and ready to bite the head off of whoever was unfortunate enough to have made that mistake.   The angry words died in her throat when she saw that it was Peter Stone.  The look on his face and his defensive posture told her that she’d obviously betrayed her annoyance and readiness to fight.
“Damn it, Peter, I just about decked you.”
“I see that.  I guess that answers my question about how you are.”
Laura sighed and looked sheepishly up at him.  “I’m sorry.  Bad night.”
She let him pull her into a brief hug.
“I heard about Barba.  I thought you could probably use a friend.”
She led him to her desk, which one of the on-loan detectives had just vacated, and offered him her chair.  She perched on the edge of the desk.  “Do me a favor,” she said quietly.  “Don’t be nice to me.  I’ll cry. And right now I need to be pissed and ready.”
“I understand.  Anything new?”
“Not a fucking thing.  We got Rhee’s girlfriend in the box, but she’s having the time of her life and not saying jack.  Damn, I miss Voight.”
He grinned.  “I bet.”
“Fin and I got some good results earlier today in ways he would approve of.”
“Don’t tell me details I can’t know, especially in front of my boss,” he looked in the direction of the D.A.
“I wouldn’t dream of it.”  She smiled for the first time in hours.  “All we know right now is there’s some house on Long Island, in the middle of hicksville, that may or may not be where he’s being held.”
“Hicksville?  You’ve narrowed it down to the town he’s in?”  Peter looked surprised.
“What?”
“Hicksville.  It’s a town on Long Island.”
“Fuck!”  Laura jumped up from her desk to run into Lieutenant Benson’s office.  Dodds sat at Benson’s desk, with Carisi and Rollins, as well as a couple of his on-loan detectives, standing around.
“Hicksville!”  She shouted. “She said the house was in Hicksville, but I thought she just meant the boondocks.  I’m not from here, I didn’t know it’s the name of the town!”
Dodds jumped up and stormed into the interrogation room to refocus the questioning.  Carisi and Rollins took two of the other detectives to the squad room table to work out the time window while Laura went to shout orders to the investigator using Fin’s computer.
“Hicksville!  We need all the traffic cameras in and around Hicksville.  Now!”
Peter came to stand behind Laura as she vultured over the investigator’s shoulder.  She could feel his comforting presence just barely touching her.  She turned to look up at him, giving him a distracted one-armed hug. “You’re a genius.”
He hugged her back.  “Because I know the name of a town on Long Island.  Low bar.”
A tortured look crossed her face.  “Remind me to kill myself for not knowing that.  God, Peter, how much time did I just cost him?” Tears formed in her eyes.
“Pissed and ready, Sunshine.  Remember?”
“Right.  Right. Pissed and ready.”  She squared her shoulders, clenched her teeth, and turned back to the investigator isolating traffic cameras.
******
Andrew Rhee had actually pulled up a chair to watch Barba’s agony. He wasn’t quite sure what the large dose of epinephrine he’d given Barba would do to him – his cellie at Riker’s had said it depended on the person – but it was apparently terrible, and that was good enough for Rhee.  Severe headaches and chest pain were supposed to be pretty much a given, and he could see that Barba was writhing, sweating and shaking with chills, all the while fighting to breathe.
Rhee had torn the duct tape from Barba’s mouth so that he could hear him scream.  That would’ve been nice, but once again, Barba disappointed him.
Huh.  It probably sucked, but somehow, even with the foamy mucus Barba was coughing up, this wasn’t quite as much fun as Rhee had hoped.  He hurled insults and taunted Barba, but couldn’t tell if the detestable shit could even hear him.
*******
Carisi and Rollins had worked with the other detectives to calculate a rough estimate of the time it would take to get from Manhattan to Hicksville at the time Rhee had abducted Barba.  McCoy split the assembled cops and investigators into teams of two, each team using that half-hour time span to narrow the amount of footage they needed to view.  Laura had looked a question at Peter, who had instantly pulled her visitors’ chair next to where she sat at her desk to team up with her watching the footage from her assigned cameras.
“Let’s get your boyfriend back,” he murmured.
“Remind me to tell you how much I love you,” she murmured back, leaning her shoulder into his.  They didn’t notice the several raised eyebrows around them.
*******
Olivia continued to try to get information from Dina, but despaired of getting any results.  She had tried most of the techniques she could think of, but there wasn’t much she could do with a woman like that.  So when Dodds had knocked on the window to let her know they were closing in on the SUV, she decided it was time to go nuclear.  She called Carisi in.
“You want me to what?”
“Charm her.  Give her those baby blues, get the dimples goin’, you know.  And heavy on the Staten Island.”
“Oh, man, Lieu, couldn’t we just let Parker loose on her?”
“Get in there.  And be charming, damn you.”
Benson had never heard Carisi drop the F-bomb, which made the string of profanity he let go that much more expressive.  But she didn’t relent.
She and Dodds watched as Carisi settled in at the table with Dina, all limbs and awkward apologies for the long interrogation.  He offered her a drink by way of a compliment.
“Girl like you, I’m guessing some kind of fancy tea, am I right?”  He leaned on his forearm, braced on the table, so that he was looking up at her from a few feet away.  Even Olivia could feel that smile.  I need to be using him more often.  That’s carnal, what he’s doing right now.
Dodds made a noise.  Olivia stole a look at him, expecting to see derision on his face, and was amused to see something that looked surprisingly like admiration.
When he had brought them both a cup of tea – I’ll have what she’s having, that’s good, too, Liv noted – Carisi settled in with his chair just a touch too close to Dina for professionalism.   “Listen, Dina, I’m guessing you know what this is all about, why we brought you here.”
“I know, Detective, but I can’t tell you anything I didn’t awready tell that othuh chick.  I dunno wheah Androo is.”
“Hey, can I ask you?  That accent, where you from?  Me, I’m raised in Staten Island, always like to hear someone who sounds like home.”
“Lawng Oiland.  Massapequa. I thawt I heard some Staten Island in theah,” Dina preened.
Olivia mentally cringed, both from this woman’s desperate need for attention, and from her own failure to send Carisi in two hours ago.
“Massapequa, that’s near Hicksville, yeah?  I got some cousins in Hicksville.”
Dina may have been needy, but she was also wary. At the mention of Hicksville, she cooled a bit.  “Yeah, well, ya’ can’t expect me to know everyone on Lawng Oisland.”
Sonny’s hurt look was so genuine, even Dodds wanted to comfort him.  “Naw, I wasn’t tryin’ to…  I know you been through a lot tonight.  I was just makin’ conversation.”
“It’s OK, Detective… what was your name again?”
“It’s Carisi, but everyone calls me Sonny.”
“Sonny.”
“It’s Dominick, but my father’s Dominick, so…”
“I must know twenty Dominicks,” Dina said, leaning closer to him.
“Well, now it’s twenty-one,” Carisi smiled, dimples fully deployed.
*********
Rafael was freezing.  All of his muscles hurt from shivering, and he felt like he’d run a marathon tied to the back of a speeding truck.  He was exhausted.  At least he could breathe again.  His heart still thundered in his ears, but he didn’t think his head was going to explode with each heartbeat anymore.  Now that he knew he wasn’t going to die right this minute, he was pissed.  He’d lost track of time as he’d heaved and cringed through what he had been sure was a massive heart attack.  The waves and waves of adrenaline shooting through him had felt like lightning and, though he had been very preoccupied, he’d also heard Rhee’s mocking voice through the ordeal.
He was not going to give Rhee the satisfaction of any reaction he could possibly contain.  That, he thought, was something he could control here.  And he knew Rhee was keeping him alive so he could enjoy those reactions.
He saw Rhee get up and start rummaging in the boxes stacked against the wall across from the makeshift cell.  Rhee took out something that might have been a whip.  Rafael started to sweat again, even though he was in only his shirtsleeves in the unheated stable.
Well, now it’s a party, he thought.
*********
Half an hour later, Fin and the investigator he was working with had found the black SUV exiting the Long Island Expressway at Hicksville. They had been able to follow it past the mall and caught it turning onto Broadway, but where the area turned residential, the cameras thinned out and they lost it again.
Olivia asked Dodds to let Carisi know where they were. As Dodds knocked on the door and stuck his head in, she noticed Carisi move his body so that he put his arm around the back of Dina’s chair, as though Dodds was talking to both of them.
Jack McCoy had stepped to the window to watch the interrogation now that they had exhausted the traffic cam footage.  Several teams were still working real estate records, and he had sent three different investigator teams out to talk to C.I.s who might be able to provide information about the location of a former brothel in Hicksville.  When Dodds re-closed the door after giving his message to Carisi, he nodded to McCoy and Benson and went out to the squad room.  They were getting close.
“We’re going to need IRT,” Dodds said to the room in general, picking up the first phone he came to.
********
“You robbed me of five years of my life,” Rhee told Rafael as he lay, sweating and bleeding.  “That was a mistake.  Now it’s time to pay.”
“You’re right.  You robbed at least three people of all the years of their lives.  I should have been able to convict you on that.” It was hard to choke those words out past the pain in his chest from the kicks Rhee had delivered.  He hadn’t yet used the whip.  Given how much the kicks had hurt, and continued to hurt, Rafael was kind of hoping he’d switch to the whip.
“You think you’re so clever.  So superior.  And yet here I am with all the power, and there you are, crawling around in the dirt like a worm.  I bet you’re thinking about what it will be like to die.”
“I don’t usually get existential when I’m sober. But if you got any scotch…”
The whip whistled through the air and tore a hole through the shoulder of Rafael’s shirt that went into his flesh.  Rhee was obviously not an expert with it, or maybe it was a cheap S&M toy, but it stung quite enough.  Rafael hated that he’d let out a yelp when it hit him, but it had been more from surprise than real pain.
*******
Dina didn’t know the address of the house in Hicksville. But she did know the name of the shell company that owned it.  Within ten minutes of getting that information, the NYPD had the address, and Dina, to her great disappointment, had been locked in the squad room lockup to be dealt with later.
Chief Dodds took charge of the assembled cops, communicating with the Incident Response Team to plan a rendezvous outside Hicksville.  Fin had an arm across Laura’s shoulders, while Peter held her hand on the other side.  She wasn’t fooled by the show of support.  She knew it was just as much preparation to restrain her in the likely event that became necessary.  IRT took forever to assemble and brief, and Hicksville was over an hour away.  She was coiled so tight Fin wondered whether she was going to launch herself across the room at Dodds.
When the interminable briefing was finally over, Olivia pulled the SVU squad together and tried to make more detailed plans with them.  Each of them was too tense, angry, and restless to tolerate much more waiting.
Olivia pointed into Laura’s face.  “You gonna be able to do this right?”
“Holy shit, Lieu, let’s just go already!  There’s five of us, there’s no need to wait for fucking IRT.  We can have him back long before they can get rolling, and you know that.”
“Detective, I understand you’re upset.  But we will do this by the book.  Don’t make me lock you in with Dina.”
Laura squeezed her eyes – and her mouth – shut.
“All right.  Let’s go.”
The squad burst from the squad room like someone had lit a fuse.  Just before leaving, Laura turned to Peter where he still stood next to her desk. She pointed at him and mouthed across the room, “Best.  Friend. Ever.”
********
The whip was actually kind of fun.  But it turned out to be a piece of crap that broke as soon as Rhee started to get into it.  He was going to have to go back to his toolbox to find something else to torture Barba with. Before that, however, he thought he’d spend some time telling Barba what he thought of him.  Barba was cold there on that floor.  That could be enough pain for now while Rhee explained to him what a piece of shit he was.  More duct tape first, though.  Barba was apparently a smartass no matter what condition he was in.
*******
The drive to Hicksville seemed to take a lifetime. Fin tried everything he could think of to get Laura to spool down a little.  Finally, when he reasoned that she needed to save her energy for what was coming, she made a sincere effort to breathe deeply and calm herself down.  Whenever visions of what might be happening to Rafael threatened to break into her consciousness, she imagined his smiling face and chanted to herself, “Pissed and ready.  Pissed and ready.”
When at last they reached the rendezvous, Dodds and the IRT team commander were arguing about whether the multiple police vehicles should have their lights on right now.  Laura sent a pleading look at Olivia, who made an “I got this” gesture and stepped over to them.
“Gentlemen, I will be happy to officially measure them later.  But for right now, put ‘em away.  One of ours is being tortured one mile from here, and we have a job to do.  We have a plan, we’re all here now.  Let’s douse the lights and get this done.”
Much of the team ran the last quarter-mile, splitting up so that they came upon the house from different directions.  That way, the few vehicles that drove closer would be less likely to catch Rhee’s attention.  Laura was glad for the run.  It helped her burn off some of her nerves, and let her feel she was doing something.
But then all activity ceased.  They were all instructed to keep absolute radio silence except for commands and emergencies.  From behind a tree fifty yards in back of the outbuilding, which looked like a barn or something, Laura looked through the dark over at Olivia.  Crouched behind her own tree, Olivia made a pushing down motion. Laura did not want to be told to relax. They could see lights in the barn. There were none in the house. Rafael had to be in the barn.  Why are we not storming that shit like the goddamn apocalypse?  She bounced up and down with anxiety.  She shot a distressed look, hand lifted in pleading, toward her Lieutenant.  Olivia scowled and made the pushing motion again. Laura stamped her foot.
Olivia rolled her eyes, looked around, and ran in a silent crouch to where Laura was.
“Wait for instructions.  There’s a reason the IRT is here,” she whispered harshly.  “Don’t make me knock you out when we’re this close.”
Laura swore under her breath, shooting a look at the barn.
“Parker…”
At that moment, they heard a cry of pain that Laura knew was Rafael.  He’s alive!  And he’s fifty yards away.  How many times have I told him I’d never let anyone hurt him?
She turned to Olivia, eyes hard.  “You want my shield, fine.  But you’re gonna have to come get it.  You know where I’ll be.”
Laura silently and warily, but quickly, crossed the empty yard between the treeline and the barn.  When she reached it, she flattened her back against the wall beside the door.  The door was a simple series of wooden planks on hinges; the latch was mounted on the door and just lifted up to sit in a catch on the doorframe.  It wasn’t latched.
Olivia’s voice came through Laura’s earpiece, alerting the team of what she’d done.  When Dodds’ voice came on, ordering her to stand down, she pulled it from her ear and let it hang down onto her shoulder.  Here comes career number three, she thought.
She used her foot to ease the door open ever so slightly, listening for a squeak.  There was none.  She moved the door a bit more, as slowly as possible, waiting for any telltale resistance that might lead to a squeak.  When it was open enough, she dropped to her knees, then her stomach, and took the quickest possible peek through the crack.
Fuck! There were two rooms, and the door to the first wasn’t in line with the door to the interior room.  She wouldn’t be able to just shoot Rhee from where she was. She elbow-crawled back, slowly and silently, until she could stand up.  Again, she flattened herself against the wall and used her foot to open the door, a few millimeters at a time.
When she had the door open just enough that she could slip through, she moved away from the door and took off most of the tactical gear she was wearing.  She would have liked to remove the vest, but it was secured with Velcro, which would make too much noise.  She left everything but her weapon lying in the light snow on the ground.  She wondered why Olivia hadn’t crossed the yard to join her, but didn’t have much time to care.
Slowly, slowly, she slipped through the crack in the door.  From where she stood, she could see that the inner room was a stable, with stalls for horses.  She stood for moments, thinking and listening to Rhee’s voice as he berated Rafael. She was glad.  His monologue would hopefully cover any noise she made.  With deliberate, precisely controlled movements, Laura stepped to the side, leaning her head so that she could see into the stable. She crept close to the wall between the tack room and stable, and peered around the doorframe as far as she dared.
She saw the makeshift cell, but couldn’t see Rafael because of the wooden walls of the stall.  She stayed where she was, because she could see from the shadows that Rhee was in the stall with him, standing over him.  She heard a noise that sounded like Rhee stomping on Rafael, followed by a loud groan.  She saw red.
She heard a sound she couldn’t identify, followed by Rhee’s taunting voice.  “Let me get that tape off, just in case you want to scream for me.”
C’mon, Rafa, make some noise.  Piss him off.  Get him yelling.  I need some cover here.
Rafael began to trash-talk Rhee in Spanish.  It was perfect.  Rhee, who didn’t speak Spanish, became enraged, demanding that Rafael speak English.  Laura noticed that some of the things Rafael was saying were distinctly funny, and hoped that she wasn’t going to betray her presence by something as stupid as laughing at the wrong moment.
“All right, you fucking beaner,” Rhee cried, “That’s it. It’s playtime.”
Laura heard Rafael make a sound that was half laugh, half groan, as he told Rhee in Spanish that he was Cuban, not Mexican, and he really wasn’t in the mood to play.  Rhee wasn’t really his type.
Laura risked a look around the doorframe.  Rhee was squatting down, looking into boxes that sat on the floor across from the cell where he was keeping Rafael.
With his back to her.
In three strides, Laura was across the room and throwing a forearm across Rhee’s throat.  She jammed the muzzle of her Glock into the back of his head before he could react. He startled, but quickly froze, knowing his situation for what it was.
With her forearm, Laura put just enough pressure on his trachea to restrict, but not completely block, his ability to breathe.  She leaned down and placed her mouth near Rhee’s ear, hissing in a voice dripping with fury. “The only reason you’re not dead yet is I wanted you to know it was me who killed you.  You pissed off the wrong bitch.”
She looked over then and saw Rafael, bloody and shivering but alive, where he lay on the dirty, straw-strewn floor with his hands behind him.
“You can’t shoot me.  You’re a cop.”  Rhee’s effort to sound cool and amused was belied by the shake in his voice.
“Oh, but I can,” she cooed nastily, turning back to him. “See, that’s the other thing you did wrong.  That guy?” She indicated Rafael.  “He has lots of friends.  Lawyers, judges, cops… all with one thing in common.  They hate your ass.  You’ve provided me with the perfect witness.  When he and I say you got killed trying to resist?”  She leaned even closer and whispered, “How many questions do you really think they’re gonna ask?”
She knew she had him when he didn’t respond or move.
“So you got one chance.  One -” She jerked her forearm roughly across his throat. “Of walking out of here.  And that’s to do exactly what I tell you, and nothing else.  You speak, you surprise me, you piss me off in any way and they’ll be scraping you off that wall.  And you know what I’ll do then?  I’ll go out for drinks with half the cops and lawyers in the city and we’ll laugh and drink to your demise.  Nod if you understand.”
He hesitated, but eventually nodded slightly. He looked livid.
“Excellent.”  Without looking away from Rhee, Laura called out, “Rafael, puedes andar[1]?”
“No.  Estoy esposado.[2]”
“Cómo?[3]”
“I’m cuffed,” he said in English.
“Did you just say you’re engaged?”
“It means handcuffed, too.  It’s not a pun in Spanish.  Just… can we talk about this later?”
She leaned in to Rhee again, and her voice completely changed, back to the hate-filled growl she had been using on him.  “Oh, bitch.  At this moment, I want you dead almost exactly as much as I want to see you die in prison.  Please do something stupid, I beg you.”
Rhee said nothing, just knelt seething with her arm across his throat and her gun to his head.
“You’re gonna very, very slowly put your hands behind your back.  Fuck up.  Please fuck up.”
She took her arm from around his throat and moved slightly back, reaching behind her to pull her handcuffs from the back of her slacks.  Rhee hesitantly, shakily put his hands behind him and allowed her to cuff him.  When she’d done that, she raised her arm and knocked him unconscious with the butt of her Glock.  What the hell.  I’m already out of a job.
Laura saw Olivia enter the stable just as she stood up to go to Rafael.  Which meant Olivia had seen Laura pistol whip Rhee when he was already cuffed.
Laura quickly released Rafael from the handcuffs and helped him sit up, groaning and trying to move his excruciatingly stiff shoulders.  She put her hands on his forearms, looking into his bruised, cut face.  His right eye was fairly well swollen shut and she could see the white was stained with blood.
“How bad are you hurt?”  She asked, reaching up to touch his face, half to examine his wounds, and half simply to be touching him.  He put his hands on her waist, trying to comfort her even though he was the one injured.
“You know something?”  He asked, his voice hoarse and ragged.  “And I mean this in the best possible way.  You’re a scary bitch.”
Laura actually laughed at that.  “You just noticing that?”
She put her arms gently around him and tried to hold him without hurting him.  He grunted a little, but held her close for a moment.  She lightly kissed his split lip as they heard Olivia radio the all clear, notifying the team that the suspect was in custody and the scene secured.  Olivia also called for the medics to come immediately.
Leaning on the bars at the entrance to the cell as she holstered her weapon, Benson said, “The cavalry will be here in a minute.  It’s good to see you alive, Rafa.”
“Thank you.”  The depth of his gratitude was evident in his face as he looked up at her, and in the fact that he didn’t bother to add any sarcastic commentary.
Olivia went to check on Rhee, who was beginning to make noises as he returned to consciousness, giving Laura and Rafael privacy as they waited on the floor for the few moments it took for the team to arrive.  They simply sat, close together, foreheads touching, occasionally kissing softly.
“You knew I was coming, right?”  Laura whispered, smoothing down a lock of his hair.
“I knew.”
“You really do have a lot of friends, you know.  Every second, half the NYPD and most of the D.A.’s office were trying to find you.”
He didn’t answer.  He seemed too emotional to try.
She had very little control of the emotion in her own voice as she whispered thickly, “Te amo, Rafael.  Tanto[4].”
“Me di cuenta que[5].”
“I should’ve told you a long time ago.  When I thought you were going to die without knowing…”
“I knew.  Shhh… I knew.”
Although there were a few looks between those who were surprised to see Parker kissing and holding hands with Barba, the cops were in full-on business mode.  Gossip could wait.  Fin and Rollins pulled Rhee roughly to his feet and began escorting him out.
“Hey, I want to make a complaint.  That bitch threatened to shoot me in cold blood, and then she cold-cocked me!”  He whined.
“My girl,” Fin said, smiling over at Laura.  “Now shut up before I kick your ass in cold blood and knock you out again.”
As the paramedics tended to Rafael, Laura stood just outside the cell next to Olivia.  She knew what was coming, and she appreciated Olivia’s willingness to wait to fire her until Rafael was safely on his way to the hospital.
“That was really stupid of Rhee, coming at you like that.”
Laura blinked her attention away from Rafael.  “What?”
“After you cuffed him.  When he tried to rush you and you had to knock him out.”
Laura gaped.  “It was, um…”
“I know what it was.  I saw it when I came in.  Remember?”
The tears that Laura had ruthlessly squashed down pooled in her eyes.  “I remember.  Thank you, Lieutenant.”
“We’re gonna talk about this again.  But let me handle Dodds.  You go to the hospital with Barba.”
Laura left tears and the last of her makeup on Olivia’s bulletproof vest as she hugged her with all the relief and gratitude she felt.
*******
Late the next morning, as she sat next to Rafael on his hospital bed with her legs tucked under her, Laura traced the line of a cut across his arm where the whip had laid his skin open.  Fortunately, it was one of only a few, but it was going to leave a scar.
“I have so much to say to you,” she began.  “But I know you’re tired.  We’ll talk about it later.  Just…  I love you.”
“So you said.”
“I meant it.”
“I know.”  Rafael’s eyes twinkled as he smiled the teasing, pleased smile that belonged only to her.
Laura smiled the first real smile since Rafael had been abducted.
[1] Can you walk?
[2] I’m handcuffed.
[3] What?
[4] I love you, Rafael.  So much.
[5] I noticed that.

after their first break up due to clint's infidelity as seen in 2012 fraction's
Clint and Jessica would get together again shortly after working together in Secret Avengers (2014)
They would take their next big break, after a heavily canon divergent Civil War 2; Clint still kills Bruce and goes on trial. They kind of break-up / take a break, cause that was one of his girlfriend's best friends
Post Civil War 2, Clint tours America, drinking often and trying to right wrongs with Red Wolf via vigilante justice; while he does this he does call Jessica here and there, sometimes drunk and guilty
Eventually, he returns to New York with a few revelations, and one of them comes at recognizing an alarming relationship with alcohol ; while he back in New York, he asks Jessica and a local superhero doctor Leonard Mccoy (had to sneak him in okay) to help him with sobriety
Kate calls Clint from LA to ask him for his help with something, which leads to Clint deciding while he was in LA to move there and to take the next big chance. ASK JESSICA OUT AGAIN. Now just that, but skip a few steps and ask her to move out to LA with him. She says yes.
Kate's WCA happens, and Clint and Jessica have their own west coast superhero business; they adopt a runaway Beverley Hills kitty cat whose name is Leftovers or LT, they've got a place together, and quite some time
The next "break" that Clint and Jessica take is when they move back to New York, during the time of Devil's Reign and Mayor Fisk; the events of Freefall, Clint's grudge war with the Hood, and taking up the Ronin mantle leads Clint to relapse and realize that he hasn't exactly buried all his issues
Jessica is there to help him in the aftermath, along with Clint's friends that he manages to not burn bridges with
Clint becoming a T-Bolt under Luke Cage, is what leads to round 4 at a relationship with Jessica Drew, and gosh they got Lucky and Leftovers (their two "kids") he should maybe do something about a relationship upgrade with Jessica right?
LEFTOVERS IS CLINT'S SECOND FUR-SON and his favorite cat in the world, Leftovers is also just as much as a Cryptid as his mom JDrew :)) clint has had many a heart attack when these two LOOM over him waiting for food

M a s t e r l i s t
Jughead and Y/N Jones. How does one even start to describe the Jones family to begin with? A mess. Southside scum. Broken.
You could say that the older of the Jones twins, knew his place in the society of Riverdale. He knew he was never going to rise through the ranks of popularity, and he’d accepted it happily. The other thing he knew was that there was more to the black hood killings, more than Mayor Macoy was letting on to.
The younger twin-“
“You are 5 minutes older than me asshole.”
Jughead looked up from his laptop; eyebrow raised, a familiar smirk worked up on his face, “Yeah and 5 minutes can make all the difference in the world. In this case I’m older so I hold the power.”
Y/N rolled her eyes, her hands scaled through her (Y/H/L), (Y/H/C) hair. Combing it back into a messy updo. She sat opposite him in the booth.
“Seriously Jug you need to be more careful.” She began messing with the necklace on her chest, her fingers twiddling the charm back and forth.
“And you need to calm down Y/N/N, nothing’s going to happen. I pro-“
“You don’t know that! How could you possibly know that? I am not going to become some low life version of the Blossoms okay? So just stay out of it!” She took a deep breath in, her hands smacking down on the table- her face flushed with a tinge of red, “Archie’s already gotten himself in prime target position. The last thing our family needs is you turning up dead in a ditch. All decomposed, covered in maggots and smelling like Alice Cooper’s underwear. So just leave it.”
And with that she shuffled back out of the booth and meandered herself out of the door, the bell jingled merrily and the beanie wearing teen watched as his sister’s form slowly disappeared from sight.
//
Y/N POV
You couldn’t understand the absolute impulsiveness and idiocy that your brother had gotten involved in. Again.
Just for once you wanted at least a week that wouldn’t include having the police come knocking, suggesting some new theory of how your family were involved in the latest crime that was inevitably committed by some asshole on the Northside- only then for the police to excuse it and blame it on mental health or rough upbringing.
Jughead was all you had left now. Especially when you put in the prospect that your Dad was locked away for the time being and your social workers were mostly never around to keep you company or check on you- they were ‘Busy passing your case onto your next suitable relative or guardian.’ Basically the nicer way of saying ‘you’re too much work we need you to be someone else’s problem.’
What was worse, was despite your brothers many speeches on how he was a “weird loner” he still had a close knit group of friends. Something that just never existed when it came to your school life. And it was honestly frustrating, you were the one who never felt normal. You were the one who felt alone all the time, and as much as you loved your brother he was lying to himself on the topic of friendship and school.
You let out a deep breath that you hadn’t realized you were holding in. Your eyes were fixed on your feet, angry tears welling up in your eyes. You wiped them away harshly.
You wouldn’t give the world the satisfaction of seeing you in tears. On the Southside that made you weak. Prey.
You silently took in your surroundings. The Southside had always been “scum”, admittedly it was a bit grimy. Dirt usually covered every crevice in some way shape or form. But you could see a certain beauty in it.
The Northside was fake. And as much as everyone kept putting up the facade that it was just a nice little town with perfect people. You knew better.
You didn’t grow up on the Southside and then proceed in the bullshit fairytale that Northsiders has created for themselves.
That was the thing every family had their problems, you understood that deeply- but everyone seemed to know each others problems and drama and they hid it all away for the sake of reputations.
It was stupid and harsh. Especially when the so called “perfect” Northside flipped every blame onto anyone in Southside.
You were indifferent- you lived on the Southside. But you had a brother stuck right in the middle path. You loved learning- but you were “too much trouble” for Riverdale high. So Southside high was where you were shipped off to.
And it was a joke. The school itself was a joke. The staff were a joke. The students were a joke. The resources were shit and the fact that Mayor McCoy decided that our education was worth less than those at Riverdale High, meant that there was a huge undercut and finance crisis. Perfect.
That was why you chose to not go at all. It’s not like you were a dropout. You knew better than that. But you knew you could give yourself a better education from home. You got the work from the general syllabus, got the information from textbooks borrowed from the library, did the work, sent it into the school via mail.
And voila you had a better education system. You had straight A’s and you’d spent minimal time in that hellhole.
A win-win situation honestly.
These thoughts consumed your mind until you reached the trailer park. You noticed a small crowd of people adorned in leather jackets stood outside of your door. Knocking non-stop.
You could hear snippets of their conversations- you presumed they were looking for you. Why you had no idea.
“Maybe she’s not here?”
“Where else could she be.”
You stalked up behind the group, listening into their muttering.
You cleared your throat and crossed your arms over your chest defiantly, “Is there a reason you’re stood outside of my door?”
They turned to look at you, many had a look of relief on their faces. One of them with Raven hair stepped forward, he looked to be around your age. Damn he was hot.
“Are you Y/N Jones?”
You quirked a brow, “Depends who’s asking.” Your stubborn ass wasn’t going down without a fight.
He lifted his chin up, looking down at you from his tall frame “The Serpants are asking princess.”
Princess that was a new addition- but hey if he’s flirting then why not do it back
“Hmm my daddy told me not to get involved with bad boys.” You smirked when you saw the boys mouth drop open slightly, he licked his lips.
“Well maybe the bad boy and his crew want to protect you, just while someone special is away.”
Your smirk dropped, “did my dad put you up to this?” You hissed out, a tinge of pink staining your cheeks.
The boy took another step forward, “No, but we look after our own. We owe it to your dad to protect his kids, like he protected us.”
You nodded and looked around the group, you saw a tanned boy with broad shoulders stood beside a pink haired girl with a hopeful look in her eyes.
“Have you spoken to my brother about this?”
The girl at the back spoke up, “Yes. And he didn’t want to be involved with us. But we decided he shouldn’t speak for both of you. You can make your own decision.”
Classic Jug and his stupid loner attitude.
You bit your lip, thinking over the pros and cons of this offer.
The hot boy broke the small silence that followed, “you don’t have to decide now princess, we’ll come back in a few days.” His voice was soft for once instead of his usual gruff demeanor. They began to walk away from your doorway.
“I never caught your name.” You called behind to them, smiling when you got a response.
“The name’s Sweet Pea.”

“Y/N!” Toni shouted gaining the attention of the few people in the Wyrm. She smiled and rushed over to you, pulling you in for a hug.
“I thought I’d find you here!” You greeted her and hugged her tightly.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were coming back?” She asked as she pulled away.
“I thought you would like the surprise.” You smiled.
“You know I hate surprises.” She raised an eyebrow.
“Yeah, but you don’t mind when they’re from me though.” You shrugged and she laughed.
“Come on. Come sit with us. We’ve all missed you.” She said excitedly and pulled you over to the table at the back of the bar. “Haven’t we boys?”
“Huh?” Sweet Pea asked.
“Missed Y/n.”
“Errr. Yeah?” He shrugged and Fangs smacked him.
“Yes we have. Hi Y/n! I’m so glad you’re back!” Fangs smiled and hugged you enthusiastically. You returned the hug, glancing at Sweet Pea who was just looking at you confused.
“Lets get you a drink! We have so much to catch up on.” Toni pulled you towards the bar and Fangs sat back down, facing Sweet Pea.
“You don’t remember her do you?” He asked and Sweet Pea looked at him.
“Sort of.” He shrugged.
“Its Y/n. Toni’s Northside friend. Or as you referred to her, the Northside princess. Toni introduced her when all the shit with the Northside and Southside was going on, I think you may have had three conversations with her before ignoring her for the rest of the time she was here.” He reminded him.
“Ohhh. I knew she looked familiar. I’m not good with faces.”
“You’re not good with faces of people that you don’t bother getting to know. She’s actually really nice. She moved away just after the riots. She looks a lot different now though.” He commented and they both looked at you. “Good, but different.”
“Different how?” Sweet Pea asked, they were still looking at the back of you, you were laughing at something Toni had said, and Sweet Pea was having a hard time believing what Fangs was telling him. There is no way he would forget someone as pretty as you. No matter how long they’d been away from.
“You’re staring.” Fangs nudged him and he looked back at his friend. “Look.” He handed Sweet Pea his phone with a picture of the four of you together. He stared at it for a minute, his eyebrows furrowed. He was feeling strange, if he didn’t know any better he would think he was feeling guilty. Guilty because he never really payed attention to you when Toni introduced you both. And when he was paying you attention he wasn’t exactly the nicest.
“Guys. This is Y/n! She’s my one and only Northside friend!” Toni said excitedly. “Y/n, this is Fangs, and that’s Sweet Pea.” She introduced. “I’m so glad you guys are finally meeting!”
“Hi.” You smiled awkwardly. Fangs smiled at you and shook your hand, but Sweet Pea just stood beside you glaring at you.
“Ignore him.” Toni told you when she noticed your anxious expression. “He’s just pissed because we’re here, instead of Southside High.” Toni reassured you. “The only people he likes are himself, me and Fangs. And even then thats pushing it.” She teased and he glared at her.
“Shut up Topaz.” He grumbled.
“Nice to meet you.” You said sweetly and you stuck your hand out. Toni and Fangs looked at each other and then between the two of you, wondering what he was going to do. He looked down at your hand with a scowl, before looking at you, making you blush at the intensity, however your smile remained, however nervous you were.
“Yeah. No thanks princess.” He said and you lowered your hand. “See you around Topaz. Come on Fangs, we’re getting looks, Northsiders are gonna start accusing us of something if we don’t move.” He looked at you when he said the last bit and your gaze went to the floor, focusing on the polished tiles underneath your feet.
“Ignore him.” Toni sighed and linked your arms together. “I’m glad I’m here. It means I get to see you every single day.” She smiled brightly.
“How long is Southside High shut for?” You asked.
“Foreverrrr. You’re stuck with me.”
“Damn.” You teased and she laughed.
Sweet Pea remembered wondering why someone as cool as Toni would be hanging out with someone like you, little did he know, you thought exactly the same thing. However one day he decided to voice his opinion.
It had been a few weeks after Toni had introduced you and you had been out with them a few times. Mainly to Pops or just hanging out at Toni’s trailer. Whenever you were around Sweet Pea would mainly just ignore you, he hated having to go to school on the Northside with a bunch of rich kids, but what he hated more was having to hang out with one when he wanted to see his friends.
“Why are you friends with her?” Sweet Pea asked as they were sat in Pops. He was facing Toni and Fangs was beside him.
“Who?” Toni asked, looking up from her phone.
“Y/n. Northside princess.”
“She’s not a Northside princess. She’s actually really nice, you just think everyone is like Mantle.” She rolled her eyes and Sweet Pea scowled at the mention of Reggie. “And I’m friends with her because we get along, she supports me and we have lots of things in common.”
“Like what? Do you have rich parents and a big house? Is that something you’re hiding from us?” Sweet Pea asked sarcastically.
“No. I-”
“Or are you a Northside princess?” He continued and Toni rolled her eyes again. Fangs remained silent next to him, focusing on drinking his milkshake.
“Sweet Pe-”
“All I’m saying is that I don’t understand why you’re friends. You’re from the Southside, a trailer park in the Southside and you’re part of a gang, and she’s rich and socially awkward and it just doesn’t make sense.”
“I’ve been saying that ever since she declared us best friends at 11, but I’ve realized not to dwell on it otherwise it hurts my head. Usually because she hits me when I say stuff like that.” You interrupted and sat beside Toni. You smiled shyly at Fangs and Sweet Pea, while Toni glared at Sweet Pea.
“I’ll get you a milkshake.” Fangs offered.
“Thank you.” You mumbled and he nodded.
“I’ll have a-”
“I already know what your favourite is.” He smiled kindly. “Unlike someone, I have an actual interest in you, I’m not closed minded.” He glared at Sweet Pea and all three of you were taken back. You had only known them for a few weeks but from what Toni had told you about Sweet Pea and Fangs, it was like they were inseparable, the same person even.
“Oh. Thanks.” You returned the smile after you had recovered. He nodded before going to order.
“See you guys later. I’ve got other things to do.” Sweet Pea announced and stood up.
“Just because you don’t know how to apologize doesn’t mean you have to run away. Its easy Pea, only two words.” Toni called after him and he flipped her off. “Like I said before.” She turned to you. “He’s pissed.” She shook her head and Fangs returned with your milkshake.
That was one of the last times you saw them before you left town.
“Sweet Pea!” Toni snapped her fingers in front of Sweet Pea’s face.
“Yeah?”
“Why are you staring at Fangs’ phone.” She asked and he looked at it, panicking for second when he thought that you had caught him staring at a picture of you all together. Thankfully the screen was blank, so he gave it back to Fangs and shrugged.
“He was showing me a funny video.”
“Riiiight.” Toni said slowly, before turning her attention back to you. You both sat down opposite the boys, somehow you had ended up opposite Sweet Pea and you couldn’t help but think back to last year. You glanced at him, noticing that he was already staring at you. He quickly looked away, joining the conversation Toni and Fangs were having.
“So.” You interrupted them. “What’s everyone been up to?” You asked and sipped your drink.
“Nothing much. I got a girlfriend.” Toni shrugged.
“I know. You told me like 12 times since I walked through the door.” You laughed and she blushed.
“I just love her.” She shrugged.
“Awwww. It’s cute.” You teased. “What about you two. Any love interests?”
“No-” Sweet Pea started. He wasn’t sure why he was lying, but it felt right in the moment.
“Sweet Pea dated Josie for a while.” Fangs interrupted and Sweet Pea looked at the floor.
“Josie as in Josie McCoy? The mayor’s daughter.”
“Ex mayor.” He corrected.
“And I thought you said I was a Northside princess.” You said sarcastically, making Toni and Fangs laugh. “So, lets think about this logic. You won’t be friends with a Northsider, you won’t even have a conversation with one, but you’ll date another.”
“We weren’t dating.” He said through gritted teeth.
“What was it then?”
“A summer fling.” He mumbled.
“What happened?” You asked, now genuinely curious.
“I don’t wanna talk about it.” He said quickly and stood up. “I’ll see you guys later.” He shrugged and stormed out.
“Sweet Pea?!” Fangs called after him.
“I’ll go.” You stood up.
“You sure?” Toni asked.
“Yeah. I upset him.” You replied and she nodded. “I’ll come round tomorrow.” You promised her before leaving the Wyrm. Once you got outside, you looked around, noticing Sweet Pea leaning against a wall. “You okay?” You asked and made your way over to him.
“Whats it to you?”
“I just wanna help. I’m sorry if I upset you. I didn’t mean to.” You apologized and leaned against the wall beside him.
“Its fine.” You shrugged.
“You can talk to me if you want.” You offered and he sighed, before sliding down the wall. You sat beside him and nudged him.
“She didn’t want to be with me like that. At the beginning of the summer we agreed that it would just be a summer fling, but then by the end I had fallen for her and she was the first girl I had ever had feeling that intense for. I fell for her really hard and I thought she felt the same way, so when the summer ended I asked if she wanted to continue it but she said she wanted to focus on her music. I accepted that and I was just starting to get over her but then one night she came to my trailer and we started our fling again. Then she invited me to her mom’s wedding and I thought she meant like as a boyfriend, I thought she had fallen for me as hard as I did, because why else would you continue to have sex with someone who was just originally a fling? But then she said she didn’t want labels, and now she’s dating Archie.” He rambled, a few tears falling from his eyes.
“Ouch.” You sighed.
“Is that all you got?”
“I wasn’t finished.” You replied and placed a hand on his thigh. “What I was gonna say is. Ouch, but I know what you’re going through. Last year my parents moved us just after the riots. They were worried that something bad would happen to me because they knew I had been hanging out with serpents and as much as they love Toni, they don’t entirely agree with the whole gang thing. So we moved, half way across the country and as you know, back then I was shy so I had trouble making friends, especially when I’m the new kid. But especially when you’re the new kid from Riverdale. Murder town. Everyone thought I was Jason Blossom’s killer and the black hood all in one.”
“We have a new one now. He’s called the Gargoyle king.” Sweet Pea said and you rolled your eyes.
“I don’t expect anything less from here. Anyway, I started this new school and made a few new friends. Then I met this boy and he was everything I had ever dreamed of. He was kind, loving, romantic, cute, funny. Just perfect. Well thats what I thought. He asked me out and I was so nervous because I’d never been on a date before, but it was great, we had so much in common so we went on a few more dates. Eventually we did it and I was so anxious but he made me feel safe and shit. And then the next day he started to avoid me.” You explained and Sweet Pea frowned. “I thought I’d done something wrong, I was trying to think what I had done, did he not like my body? Did I do it wrong? I was so confused and hurt and I tried to talk to him to ask him why he was ignoring me. Turns out it was a bet. Him and his friends had made a bet that he couldn’t sleep with me because I was socially awkward and shy.” You explained, wiping the tears away that were threatening to spill.
“Thats fucking shit. I’m so sorry.” He wrapped an arm around you.
“Its fine. It wasn’t you and its in the past now.” You shrugged.
“Is that why you’ve changed so much?”
“Changed?” You asked confused.
“You just seem so much more confident.”
“Believe me I’m still the same shy girl. I just realized that I’m also strong as fuck. Especially when I punched the guy in the face and broke his nose.” You smiled and Sweet Pea chuckled.
“Nice.” He laughed.
“I figured I should be more confident. If I was more confident back then, they never would have chosen me as their stupid bet.”
“I’m sorry I judged you.” Sweet Pea apologized.
“Wow. Its only taken you a year to apologize.” You teased and he rolled your eyes.
“Yep. And it will be at least another year until you hear me say sorry again, so you should take it.”
“I will. Thank you for apologizing.”
“No problem.” He shrugged. “Thank you for helping me.”
“How?”
“Well if a Northside princess can turn badass then I suppose I can become even more badass than I already am.” He smiled and you rolled your eyes. “But seriously. Thank you. You really helped.”
“I have a suggestion.”
“Yeah?”
“Why don’t we go to Pops. Just us.”
“As a date. I dunno Y/n. You’re still very much the definition of Northside, do I really want to be seen out with you?”
“Two words. Josie McCoy.” You replied and he rolled his eyes.
“Doesn’t count. That ‘relationship’ was only in the bedroom, and the occasional sofa and shower and kitchen counter and-”
“Enough.” You interrupted and he laughed. “You’re disgusting.” You shook your head and he laughed louder. “As I was saying, we could go to Pops and it could be like a celebration of starting to get over our ‘exes’, if you can even call them that.” You suggested and he smiled.
“Yeah. That sounds fun.” He stood up and helped you up.
“Time to get over Josie and Justin!” You cheered.
“Yea-wait, you dated someone called Justin?”
“Yeah? Why?” You asked confused.
“Let me guess. Was he on the football team?”
“Yeah.” You mumbled and he laughed.
“What kind of name is Justin.” He chuckled to himself.
“What kind of name is Sweet Pea?” You retorted and he stopped laughing.
“Yeah. Fair enough.” He muttered. “I was thinking.” He started as you started your walk to Pops.
“Yeah?”
“We could count this as a date. Only if you want though.” He said quickly and a smile appeared on your face.
“You wanna go on a date with me. A Northside Princess?” You mocked him.
“Yeah.” He mumbled.
“You have a type don’t you Sweet Pea.”
“Shut up.” He blushed. “You’re nothing like Josie. You’re too nice and way prettier.” He complimented and you smiled.
“You’re nothing like Justin.”
“Let me guess, I’m funnier, more good looking, hotter, kinder, bigger than him in every way if you know what I mean.” He winked.
“No. I was just gonna say that he doesn’t have a motorbike and you do.” You replied and his face fell. “Your face!” You laughed. “You are all of those things. Although I’m not sure about bigger. You’re definitely taller though.”
“If this date goes well, I’m sure you can find out.” He smirked and you rolled your eyes.
“Jesus Christ.”
“I’m glad you came back Y/n.”
“Me too.” You smiled brightly at him.
“Are you excited for y/f/f milkshake?” He asked.
“You remembered my favourite?”
“Of course I did. A lot of things can change in a year.”
“Apparently so.”

I hate the fact that the writers, not ONE SINGLE TIME, have mentioned how Kevin feels about his mom (apart from when he found out that his dad was cheating on her with Sierra). He never says little things like “I miss her” or “it’s been ____ days, weeks, months or years since I’ve last called or seen her”. I really hope that one day, she comes back to Riverdale or at least Kevin mentions her...
I'd love to see Kevin's mom, too. I've always pictured her as a woman who tried to have it all and then realized she really wasn't suited for motherhood and prized her career too much to want to slow down. I see her and Kevin loving each and her and Tom's divorce as being amicable and something they knew was a long time coming. It is incredibly disappointing how little we get to hear from Kevin about his mother (or Josie on her father, or either of them on how they feel about their families coming together). It's also very frustrating how little relevance Kevin's feelings are ever given by the writers ever. Even during episodes such as 2x07, when Kevin suspects his dad is cheating, concern for Kevin isn't even what drives his friends to investigate. Betty wants to prove Sheriff Keller is the Black Hood, and Veronica wants to prove Betty wrong. Neither of them really care all that much about Kevin's feelings, neither of them ever really try to comfort him in his worry about his father, and neither of them are ever seen comforting him after he's found out about the affair between his father and Mayor McCoy.I'm pointing all this out not for the sole purpose of pointing out how little consideration Betty and Veronica ever give Kevin, but to drive home a point about the writers. They really never prioritize Kevin's feelings. At all. It's not even a case of them not prioritizing them when they're not plot relevant, they don't even come up when it is plot relevant. During an episode where Kevin is expressing fear and worry for his dad, when we could get his perspective on his mom consistently working overseas, the person's whose feelings take precedence is . . .Betty. It's not about Kevin or his dad; it's about her hunt to find the Black Hood. And this is how Kevin is always used. He's never treated as as character. He's not written with any idea or thought to how a real person would be acting or thinking in his situation. He acts and thinks, or is mysteriously devoid of opinion, all depending on what other characters need him to do. He worried about his dad because Betty needs to investigate about the Black Hood. He's switch from supporting Fred as mayor to supporting Hermione as mayor because Archie needs a Black Circle to oppose. He's joined the cult so Betty can feel isolated. His opinions and alliances vary at random, switching without reason or explanation, leaving the audience to infer why he's doing things without clearly explaining. And while it would be more than fair to say "Inconsistency, thy name is Riverdale" and this applies to all characters, it's even more frustrating when Kevin gets so little screentime and in the way of development anyway. All of this is a long-winded way of saying that the reason the writers don't ever have Kevin talk about his mom is because they don't think of what he might act like as a person. They only think of what he needs to act like to help along the plots of the straight characters. Kevin's feelings aren't relevant. And it's truly disappointing that even in 2019, that's still where we are for gay characters.

Why do you hate halice so much
Iwas deliberating on whether to make this short and sweet or long andintriguing. I went for the second.
For starters, they have no chemistry. Andchemistry is an important component for me when it comes to shipping, as I’msure it is with everyone and I know that doesn’t say much given the fact thatchemistry between couples doesn’t seem to be Riverdale’s strong suit anyway, but back to my initial point; The chemistry between Alice/Madchen andHal/Lochlyn was never strong to me and they seemed to lack it in everydepartment, sexual, emotional, romantic, platonic, intellectual, you name it,they ranked low on the scale in all of them. There appears to be a generalconsensus within fandoms that chemistry is subjective based on the sexualpassion between two people but as briefly mentioned before chemistry is a muchlarger scale. This isn’t just something I’m applying to Halice either becausebelieve me I’ve shipped couples who’s sexual/passionate chemistry wasn’t thatstrong but their emotional and intellectual and platonic chemistry was off thecharts, so despite Alice and Hal’s sexual/passion related chemistry lackingwhile Alice and FP’s literally jumps off the screen, I still couldn’t root forthat ship because the other aspects of chemistry are also non existent.
Secondly, and I’ve stated this before, they are an incredibly boring and clichecouple, who to be honest have nothing ship or root worthy going for them. There’s no interesting dynamic, they’re very dull and incredibly basic. They’repretty much an adult B/ghead to be honest. While the Riverdale writers triedand failed to apply the bad boy good girl trope to that couple, Halice gotslapped with the suburban Stepford duo trope but also included the woman with abad girl past married to the rich guy who could help her escape it trope. Bigmistake as it pretty much rendered Halice as doomed from the start, not tomention those tropes are over done and the first one can be incredibly boring.I’ve seen this trope with TV couples before who I knew were destined forfailure from the beginning and I was always right. So in my head, whenever Isee these types of pretty suburban picture couples I don’t care about thembecause they always end in disaster and I’m starting to think it’s intentionalfor TV writers. I’m sure there’s a whole list but one TV couple/family thatcomes to mind that I compare Halice/the Coopers to is Bree and Rex/the Van derKamps from Desperate Housewives. Bree and Rex? Not ship worthy, in fact sounworthy of shipping that I’m pretty sure a lot of Desperate Housewives fanshave forgotten who he was and he ranks the lowest on the list of Bree’s ships. These couples are always more concerned with keeping up a facade of being theideal perfect suburban family for the rest of the town while behind that whitePickett fence is a whole bunch of fuckery going on that they deliberatelyignore or try to brush under the carpet. These couples also seem to haveproblems within their marriage or their marriage is already dead and they’vespent so long caring more about their image over anything else that they don’teven realise it yet. There’s also never really any romance, you find yourselfquestioning if they’re actually in love or just a legally binding co parentingarrangement under the same roof. I absolutely hated what this obsession did forAlice’s character and her as a person. I wasn’t fond of her in the early stagesof the show, I started to understand her more in 1x08 and warm towards her inmid season two because I saw who she really was. When Hal wasn’t in the pictureand she decided the bullshit he pulled with Polly was the final straw, shestopped being that judging heartless suburban cow and actually became a mother. And then when Hal came back into the picture in early season two parts of thatAlice that I didn’t like before kind of creeped out and I hated it, it made menot only sick but skip a lot of Cooper family scenes. That for me confirmedthat it was Hal’s presence that made Alice so unlikeable, and that’s the reasonI had been rooting for a Halice divorce since season one. And to get personalfor a minute, I believe in ship and let ship but I’m sorry, I have to abandonthat rule where Halice is concerned because I just don’t understand how anybodycan genuinely ship them and I don’t believe anybody actually does. The onlypeople who “ship” Halice are people who are anti Falice, which pretty muchproves my point as they don’t like the couple, they just hate the onesupposedly competing against it. It’s what I like to call spite shipping;Rooting for one of the characters in an established ship to be with somebodyelse, despite it possibly being a toxic pairing, (this isn’t always the case, most times the couple that’s being spite shipped is perfectly unproblematic andhealthy) simply because you hate the relationship that character is already inor even pretending to care about a couple and “ship” them because you want topit them against a couple that you hate and use that spite ship to shit onthem. I’ve seen this so much in the fandom recently and hey, I’m no stranger toit either, I spite shipped Barchie because I’m not a fan of the other Bettypairing but the truth is I honestly do not give a rats ass about Barchie, whether they’re endgame whether they get screentime, I just don’t care and Inever have, in fact I want Archosie to be endgame and I don’t actually shipBetty with anybody because to me she’s one of those characters who are betteroff single. While we’re still on topic I’ll provide more examples, Fladys has abunch of spite shippers. FP always looks like he wants to blow his brains outwhenever he’s in Gladys’ presence on top of that she’s also using him and hasan ulterior motive for coming back into his life, Skeet has also describedtheir relationship as toxic himself. Given all that you’d think they’drightfully have no support but of course people hate Falice just that much sothey’ve jumped aboard the sinking Fladys ship. I’ve also heard this appears tobe the case with some Veggie and Archosie shippers or should I say “shippers”as I’ve seen one or two people make call our posts about some fans of those twopairings just being very anti Varchie, I’m not 100% sure but if it’s true thenyes it’s a perfect example of what I’m talking about. As for putting shipsagainst each other this also happened with some of the Falice anti’s in theteen character fandoms and Tierra. For like 3 weeks, it was all “We don’t careabout the parents! This is a teen show! Fuck the fossils!” whenever parentdalestans talked about the parents and screen time then after 3x12 it was all “Tomand Sierra are the only wrinklys who deserve rights! The best parent ship!”They did all that just to shit on Falice they never cared about Tom and Sierra. What made it funnier is that these very people didn’t even know Sierra’s nameuntil maybe a month ago, they had been calling her mayor McCoy or Josie’s mumfor like 3 seasons.
Thirdly, and this is more subjective, Hal is just a dick. And that’s putting it nicely. I had this opinion long before the black hoodfiasco, which I will not talk about in this post, so I don’t get accused ofbeing biased or falling for the writers supposed retcon to make Falice happenand end Halice recklessly when Halice stans find this. In fact, I had thisopinion long before I even shipped Falice, which is just shy of a year now. Toput it bluntly I disliked Hal from season one, 1x08 to be exact and even beforethat I just didn’t care about him, learning more about him and his and Alice’sback story certainly didn’t help that either. That whole argument between thetwo of them in episode 8 is enough to hop off the Halice ship. The scene isaround 3 minutes long and in it we learnt that the two are clearlyincompatible, don’t trust each other enough to tell the other important things(more so a problem on Hal’s part), Hal doesn’t respect her highly enough as hiswife and that Hal is a controlling asshole who thinks he can police women’sbodies. (There was more that we learnt about their relationship but it’sirrelevant to this section of the post) As a womanist, heck, as a selfrespecting person who doesn’t let anybody, especially men (aka Mother Nature’sbiggest mistake) treat me like shit I can’t root for a couple where the husbandtreats his wife like that, it’s just not gonna happen. Do I also need tomention he had the audacity to try and stop her from tracking down her longlost son as if he should have even had a say in the matter in the first place?Regardless of paternity? Yeah, nuff said.
Fourthly, and this is also partly subjective, the writers have established (and I am well aware that’s not saying much eithergiven that the show’s writers are terrible) that Falice is the ship directionthey’re going into and Halice and even Fladys shouldn’t even be consideredcompetition or anything of the kind. This isn’t a love triangle or square. It’snot a rivalry or another Delena vs Stelena or Brucas vs Leyton. Falice is theship they get asked about, Falice is the ship they’ve spent 3 seasons buildinga back story and relationship around, Falice is the ship that gets attention inthe media while the other two are paid dust. The writers have made it clearthat FP and Alice are victims of the one that got away trope and are still verymuch in love. Halice and Fladys are the furthest thing from competition, they’ve already got Hal the fuck up out here and have presented Gladys as avillain making a play for the town and engaging in criminal activity whilesimultaneously pulling the wool over her Sheriff husband’s eyes so they’repretty much a ticking time bomb already that I can’t wait to see explode. Sowith all of this, of course I’m not going to be a fan of Halice knowing thewriters have/had other plans in mind.

19, 31, 76 for the prompts please
19. “I’m worried about you.”31. “Sorry.”76. “You’ve changed.”It was visitor’s day in the L&L Juvenile Detention Center, the day Joaquin hated the most because he never got any visitors and he was really bitter about it. Sure, he had no family left, who could visit him, but he had his new family, the Serpents right? But where were they? He tried to tell himself that his friends probably never learned that Joaquin was back. He had only met FP and Jughead, and he guessed that FP was the only one who knew that Joaquin was in juvie. But he had kind of expected that FP would let everyone know…but apparently he had just forgotten about Joaquin. And so he watched every week how every one of his little group was allowed to go to the visitor’s room to meet their loved ones, while Joaquin stayed in his cell. Today was no different, Joaquin thought while he was lying on his bed and stared up at the ceiling, waiting for his cellmate Slash to get picked up by a guard and taken to the visitor’s room. Slash got visitors every week, his mom and sister and sometimes friends. And surely after a few minutes, steps approached their cell and a guard unlocked their door.“Time for your visitors.”Slash got up quickly and gave Joaquin a small wave, walking towards the door. But the guard didn’t go after him yet but looked at Joaquin.“You too, DeSantos.”Joaquin looked at him with a frown. “Me? That must be a mistake.”“No, you have a visitor. Better hurry up, before I leave you here.”Joaquin quickly got to his feet and held out his hands to get the handcuffs on and then followed Slash and the guard, wondering the whole way who his mysterious visitor could be. When he finally walked into the visitor’s room he was convinced it was FP. Probably here to give Joaquin hell for not being more accepting of Archie at first. But then his gaze landed on the person sitting at the table in front of Joaquin, and he got the biggest surprise ever. It was not FP… it was Kevin!Joaquin was unable to do anything, and he just stared at his ex-boyfriend, taking in how beautiful Kevin looked: his hair perfect as always, those mesmerizing green eyes boring into his, those preppy clothes, those strong arms… He only got shaken out of his staring when the guard yanked at his hands to open the handcuffs.Joaquin nodded at him and sat down opposite Kevin. “Kevin..”Kevin licked his lips nervously before he answered: “Hey, Joaquin.”“What… what are you doing here? Why? How? I don’t understand..”“Archie mentioned to Veronica that you are here too and she told me. It took me a while to decide what to do, but I wanted to see you.”“Well, I guess Archie didn’t tell her many good things about me, huh?”“Archie said you’ve changed.”Joaquin let out a sad laugh, looking to the side. “Yeah. Or maybe this is just the true me.”“Joaquin, what is happening? Are you ok? Can I.. can I do something to help?”“Why would you even want to help me, Kevin?”“Because I care about what happens to you… I know I never responded to your texts or calls…sorry. But I am here now, and I feel like what Veronica told me can’t be true. You aren’t like that. You don’t tell people to stab someone.”“I am like that, Preppy. Sorry. Sorry, to disappoint you. You never got to know the real me. You said so yourself, remember? Well, now you know.”He almost jumped when Kevin’s hand landed on his, so soft and warm and familiar and even that small touch was enough to make Joaquin feel tears gathering in his eyes. Kevin was here, his Preppy, his love. Joaquin had thought that everyone had abandoned him, but now Kevin was here. Kevin hadn’t given up on him.“Joaquin look at me please.”Joaquin did as Kevin asked and he knew that Kevin could see the tears, knew that everyone who looked their way would see them, would see Kevin’s hand on his, would see how Joaquin was looking at Kevin, everyone would know that this here was Joaquin’s weakness: This boy with the cute face and the preppy clothes.“Joaquin. It wasn’t right what I said to you before you left. I was so upset.. but I had a lot of time to think, and I know now that you showed me a lot of the real you. I mean that sweet, funny boy, who called me Preppy and danced with me at homecoming, who hugged me whenever he could and kissed me in front of everyone, who was so worried about me that he tried to keep me out of everything… you showed me your true self Joaquin. That nice sweet boy is the version you are hiding because it isn’t safe to show this side, to show weakness in front of the people you usually have around you…but you showed me that side, and it means a lot to me.”“But it’s not all. The side of me Veronica told you about is also me. And maybe it would be better for you if you stayed far away from me. I am trouble Kevin, and you see…I tried to escape trouble, but it didn’t work. I still ended up here.”“You got caught during riot night, and if you had been a Northsider they would have let you go again, I am sure. But you have a Serpent tattoo, so you got locked away. This isn’t fair! Joaquin listen, I’m worried about you. I don’t want you in here. I will help you. Mayor McCoy works as a lawyer now you know? And she and I will soon be family. She and my dad want to move in together and get married. I will ask her for help. She will get you out of here, I am sure.”Joaquin sighed, “Kevin…maybe I belong in here. I didn’t do anything wrong on riot night, that’s true. I was just fleeing the trailer park when the Ghoulies started to burn it down. But you know full well that I did other things in the past. And the Blossom case is only one of the things I did. I think I deserve to be in juvie.”“Seriously? You want to stay here?”“No, of course not. But I don’t want to be a burden to you. You deserve better, Preppy. Look…this is the hardest thing I ever had to say… but… Just go please and never come back. I want something better for you. You should find a nice Northside boy, stay on your side of town and graduate and go to your dream college and just look forward to a bright future. Ok Preppy? Please promise me that you will do that. Seeing you in here feels so wrong. You don’t belong here. You don’t belong in my world, and I don’t belong in yours. You are better of without me."No.”“No?”“I won’t do that. Everyone wants to help Archie get out of here, but I think you deserve that too and I will make sure that you will get help too. I believe in second chances, and you definitely deserve one!”He squeezed Joaquin’s hand gently and looked at him with those big green eyes, his face an open book and Joaquin could read so much in it. Kindness, sadness, stubbornness, determination and most of all affection. Joaquin couldn’t look away, he was caught in this intense gaze, and he tried to take his mask off too and let Kevin see his emotions on his face too. Let him see how much Joaquin loved him, how happy and thankful he was that Kevin hadn’t forgotten about him, let him see that Kevin was Joaquin’s everything. They stared at each other for a long time, and with anyone else, it would have been weird, but with Kevin it was the most natural thing to do, and it just felt right.Kevin was the one, who broke the silence: “Will you let me help you please?”And this time Joaquin nodded and a small smile was tugging at his lips when he answered: “Yes. Save me please, Preppy.”
