How to Divide an Object into Multiple Subsets in Milkshape 3D
i made my very first ever tutorial!! on how to divide an object into more than one group or subset in milkshape. this is v handy for when an object originally has one subset, but you want to make two recolorable subsets. 💕
is this helpful to anyone?? idk i hope so lol.
i did a quick written doc too, if that's more up your alley. it's more simplified than the video, but you still get the gist i think.

Hello ! I just have a little question, how do we start drawing ? I want go draw but idk how to start- any suggestion ? Or, if for starting it's better to do it with tutos, any tutorial to recommend ?
Have a great day !
Oooh, this is a tough question to answer! I suppose one the best pieces of advice I have is to figure out, before anything, what you are hoping to draw. What style, what tones, what media.
I have a feeling this might get long, so I will throw the rest under a readmore.
For me, when I started taking my art a little more seriously (I never went to art school or anything) I just focused on finding both tutorials on the fundamentals, and finding tutorials that focused on the aspects of art that interested me, which were animation and cartooning!
They go hand-in-hand, after all, and you'll find you end up honing in on the tutorials that coincide with your interests! IE- I ended up doing a lot of figure, and expression drawing because they would help me express emotion and movement better! I also spent so, so long just training my hand to be a bit more confident with drawing steady lines just because I loved the look of clean line-work!
So try to identify what your personal draw towards art is! By doing both something you like, as well as focusing the basics, I found that, at least in my personal experience, it put me in a positive feedback loop where I could keep seeing results in exactly the type of art I was interested in! And, once you start to feel confident, that is when you start adding in little bits of study from fields you might struggle with! A 90/10 split on what you're comfortable with and then what is new is usually a good way to go about it! Weirdly enough, though I don't watch him, I saw that the youtuber pewdiepie actually had a really good set of videos where he started from being a complete beginner and improving his art over 100 days. I believe its an absolutely great watch for a new artist, because he really does a great job in showing what a brand new journey into art can look like, and explains what he thinks each day. I think my favorite line was, 'after 24 days, I was finally having fun' because that can really sum up the new artist experience. It will absolutely be a slog at times, and can be really disheartening, but when you start to see progress, becomes so, SO fun.
Here is the link to the first vid, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMLEudGbxQk and his second https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJDtQTTAogk
ALSO- this was just the first video that came to mind because I watched it recently. I would recommend finding other videos about people learning to draw, or doing 30-100-365 day challenge videos. As for my personal favorite channels for art tutorials (though keep in mind, I haven't watched them in a few years ;-;, I need to study again);
There were a number of others that I wish I could link as well, but I am struggling to remember them. I hope any of that is helpful. My own art journey has been very long, and non linear, and I have to say, I'm not even satisfied with my own art! Its a endless mountain to climb, but it is so worth it to do! And lastly, I want to say thank you so much for sending this ask, you've made me dig back in to artists I used to study, and made me want to really focus back in on my own improvement!

How can i learn to render like you??? ;-; That joker drawing tickles my brain, it's so good i want to cry and kiss it.(the order of actions may change).
But seriously do you have like a yt recomendation for rendering classes? i'm STRUGGLING.
tbh the joker piece was quite an underendered piece , most of it was just colour blocking and spiked shading but i tried to make a breakdown of how i approached the colouring ! (also did it with the original i didnt post, the final one just has a red hue layer on it to make it all one colour since i felt it was better)
Tumblr media
this is the level of rendering i do for doodles tbh and just add some extra layer effect or halftones or some strokes of colour (for example purple, i usually paint the hair on a layer above the lineart)
and i also take a lot of inspirations from other other artists like @/sinlizards and @/nesskain, and some most recently rick leonardis hatching techniques he uses in his comics (specifically early issues of spiderman 2099)
but i do a similar approach with fully rendered pieces, with strong contrasting light or just a dash of colour
Tumblr media
i hope this was somewhat helpful, cuz honestly i havent looked at a rendering tutorial or video in ages so idk what would be useful for others, since its not what i learned from )--)0

I've been in a rut as of late, and I really want to get better at form and anatomy. Your style is one of my favorite ones ever, what would you say were your biggest inspirations throughout the years?
hey, first of all i’m so very sorry for the late reply. hope you get to see this still since it’s been a while since you sent this ask... sorry
secondly, thanks a lot! i try to give some insights here, this question's always kinda hard for me to tackle because i'm having a hard time identifying my style and what makes it tick, idk... i guess it's a combination out of everything i like, starting from the artstyle of tf2 to various styles of my mutuals and people around here (but i think tf2, wanting to draw humans ever since i first laid eyes on tf2 and the cartoony artstyle of it all are my major fuels, ngl).
as for anatomy and form: this is a matter i just recently pushed myself into because i felt really stuck in my ways. like... i never really did studies in my life, so when i wanted to draw i kind of had to count on it to ‘just work’, idk if this makes sense... i always felt like i didn’t actually know what i was doing there, and i worked with ref a lot (i would always recommend using ref, no matter what, what i want to say is that i realized i had not enough fundament to truly fool around in the way i liked to). and now that i started actually doing anatomy studies i feel so dumb because yeah. it IS making things easier x) i understand tho that for most it’s a motivational issue... you have to find a way to make it work for you. like doing studies, but implementing what you learned into a sketch of your blorbo, as an example.
as for resources, it’s hard to find good tutorials, mostly because the place is flooded with art bros trying to tell you “you don’t NEED anatomy and here is why” and then they make a sketch and you can SEE that they put SO MUCH ANATOMICAL KNOWLEDGE INTO IT. so there’s a lot of bs out there. there is good stuff out there tho, but it might take you a while to find what’s best suited for you. i could make a list of yt channels that really helped me but the thing is, everyone is at their own lvl and with different goals in mind, so i don’t think this would be very helpful.
what i can link you to tho are 2 videos that really opened my eyes in regards of a) finding your style and b) getting better at drawing a certain topic.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLfH9yOGs3o - this video tackles the whole ‘finding your style’ topic. because i often give the tip that you don’t find your style, style finds you (and i still think that is in its regards correct, because you just get subconsciously influenced by the media you consume and like and your fave artists’ style’s if you really dig them) but the ability to actively WORK on your style is there. it’s just something you have to put a lot of work into. but we’ll never stop learning, so there’s that. (she describes it with her landscape drawings but really this works for anything... from dynamic linework to just trying to find the right energy in your pictures)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0ufz75UvHs - this one really helped me getting over my fear of ‘drawing something ugly’ (big words from someone drawing ugly men as a hobby) but hear me out... because i have a weird brain that makes me recoil from something my mind thinks is ‘imperfect’ i really often get stuck with my art and either don’t experiment at all or get stuck with a sketch and spending hours on it trying to fix it... so approaching this matter like the video described just... melted that away. because when you draw 20 faces a day just telling yourself “NOBODY will EVER see this” you start loosening up... or at least i did. it’s also good for an analytical brain or people who strongly lean into that. this approach was especially nice while being stuck in an artblock... because i could easily just fool around and it kind of changed how i see doing art... like... nothing is ever perfect so i don’t have to make it perfect, i can analyze my art through a more neutral lense than my emotional attachment to it now... does that make sense?
last but not least, there are a ton of good resources out there for anatomical studies, my fave is still “anatomy for sculptors, understanding the human figure” by uldis zarins sandis kondrats.
SORRY THIS GOT A BIT LONGER BUT i put A LOT of thought into this as of late so yeah... maybe it’s gonna help someone too

hii!!! i’ve been following you for a long time now and i really love your art!! i’ve also been trying to learn how to draw so i was wandering if you’d have some advice for someone who’s completely new to this ??? pleek-
forgot to say this in the original ask, but of you have any tips on how to draw hair i’d thank you forever 😭 i’m really struggling with that
aw thanks! idk if im the best to ask for advice but hopefully you find any of this useful!
honestly it's really as simple as just drawing even if you think it looks bad don't get discouraged because it's all part of the process and you will get better when you are drawing on a regular basis. just look at the first drawings i had on here compared to my more recent stuff - the more you do it the better you'll get!
look for inspiration and references, its not cheating to use references as long as you are not straight up copying your reference 1 to 1. i like going on pinterest for inspiration especially for clothes! i also like to see what other artists are doing, instagram is also good for finding art inspo, i also found watching speed paints on youtube a good way of seeing how other people color and how to apply it to your own drawings
I'll talk more about what i do under the cut lol
for my process, i like to start off with a super messy sketch im talking chicken scratch. it's not supposed to look good its just supposed to give you a base for your drawing and allow you to figure out what you want to do.
then i start a new layer on top, lower the opacity of the initial sketch and i start drawing on top and refining everything so I have a cleaner sketch that's closer to the final drawing. this is usually where i finish figuring out the poses anatomy, hair, expressions, hands etc. it's still kind of messy but it'll feel more like you are filling in the blanks rather than starting from scratch
finally i do my lineart in another layer and for your lineart where you just make sure to keep your lines smooth and clean
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then i just do my base colors and shade, for this one i didn't really go all out with the shading so it may not be the best example lol, i just kept it simple which is ok! sometimes less is more it just depends how you want the final piece to look.
for hair specifically - i don't really have a tutorial, when i draw hair i just sketch out the shape i want the hair to have in the initial sketch, and then i had more detail when i clean up my sketch. I usually start by adding the strands that frame the face first or the hairline and then go out from there to the rest of the hair. I also don't draw every single strand, i tend to keep it more simple since i have a simple style
I found this tutorial on pinterest which pretty much how i go about it execpt i usually have a rough idea of the overall shape first and i don't go as detailed as the final result, i usually stop around the third step
i hope ANY of this was helpful and not too rambley! feel free to ask more if you have any more questions!

Hi, i really hope im not bothering you by sending a modding question... i am absolutely brand new to even thinking about modding, and i know theres a big discord out there, but ive mostly heard horror stories coming out of the community so im honestly terrified to even check it out... im just wondering if you have any idea if its feasible to make a mod of Padre's shirt for V? (The one w the sweater over a collared shirt, i feel like ive seen it on other random npcs as well) not asking you to do it or anything, but its one ive never seen in mods so idk if its already been tried by modders and everyone decided "nah this wont work". Again, so sorry if you dont want to be bugged with questions like this, you honestly just feel like one of the most approachable people ive seen in this fandom so far and trying to make any cp77 friends has proven extremely intimidating.
Heya!! It's always ok to ask modding questions, you don't bother at all 🤲
I can't blame you for not wanting to get your feet into big servers, it can get quite overwhelming and frustrating when nobody seems to notice you. Tho I recommend using them as modding-wiki extension! It can be useful to search for solution, plugins and softwares, discord exclusive tutorials, or catch someone's getting help for a similar problem for example. There is no need to be active :3 but no pressure ofc, just know that it's totally ok to join these servers to just lurk
Now for Padre's shirt! I won't be able to do it (not right now at least) so I'll throw infos and direction if anyone else wanna give it a try 🤏
Here's the path to Padre's mesh -
base\characters\garment\gang_valentino\torso\t1_078_shirt__sweater\t1_078_ma_shirt__sweater_old.mesh
Tumblr media
Tho we can see its all wonky compared to a regular MA mesh, and that's because this one is specifically fitted for old' Padre (it's even in the mesh file name, _old)
To make a version useable for masc V, we'll need to combine a few meshes available in the same folder!
The main piece: t1_078_ma_shirt__sweater.mesh
The bottom part: t1_078_ma_shirt__sweater_shirt.mesh
The cuffs: t1_078_ma_shirt__sweater_cuffs.mesh
And one of the two available collar: t1_078_ma_shirt__sweater_collar_01.mesh or _collar_02.mesh
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All of these should already fit into one another, but if not a lil refit in blender should do the trick!
Then I can only point out to the Modding Wiki and its numerous tutorials for the AXL part (making a standalone clothing mod)
I also recently added my own AXL Workflow in my Tutorial Drive; I'm planning on writing a proper one, for now it's only screenshots from an old private tutorial I made for a friend, some infomartion are outdated (I've learned a lot since then as well) but it can still be useful, hopefully!
Thank you for the ask and for your kind words 🧡 I'm sorry to hear the community hasn't been too welcoming, but there are a lot of good souls willing to help and guide if needed!
A big server that I often recommend is The Cyberpunks; it's a fandom focused server, really chill and friendly, not based entierly on modding but its modding channels are pretty active! I lurk in there, you can catch me in the modding and screenshots area :>
If big servers are out of the picture, I totally recommend trying to get into a smaller server; small bubbles can be more comfortable when the members are well spirited and positive :3
I hope you'll find your place and people you vibe with 🧡 and hope the few info on Padre's shirt can be useful, to you or anyone out there seeing this that might want to give it a try! With a few recolors I'm sure it can be a cute, cozy corpo-ish attire ✨👌

I’m obsessed w your art style omg!! If you don’t mind me asking how do you shade skin? I’ve always struggled w over shading but the way you did it in your most recent piece is beautiful
ahh thank you so much!! i can try to show you a little step by step on how i shade skin ;0 though keep in mind that my art style is not the most consistent in the world but no matter the art style i choose the process is always the same!
before i start though, it's important to note that i use clip studio paint as my main drawing software, so most of the brushes used will be available on the clip studio asset store. however, some brushes i used are made to mimic paint tool sai brushes, so i'll be showing my settings for both
(also this isn't really a tutorial--this is just how i personally do it!)
step 1: base colour
what i do first is choose a base colour. the simplest part LOL.
Tumblr media
step 2: blush
next i like to pick a colour for the blush. the colour depends on the skin tone but in this specific example i went for a more orange-ish colour. i apply it on the cheeks, nose, eyelids, ears, and lips.
Tumblr media
the brush i used is Mitch's Smooth Blending
Tumblr media
this brush is the closest to the brush i used in paint tool sai 2, which is this one! the basic watercolour brush but slightly altered
Tumblr media
step 3: shading pt.1
so here i just take a colour slightly darker than the one i used for the blush and kinda go over where i think the shadows would be? the brush i use helps a lot because i can go softer on some parts (top of eyelids) and harsher on others, so there are some variations
Tumblr media
step 4: shading pt. 2
i take a cooler tone and softly go over some of the shadows w it?? dont rly know how to explain it but i started doing this once and havent looked back ever since LOL ... hope the visuals make sense tho
Tumblr media
extra: lighting + overlays and stuff
if the skin looks too dull i slap an overlay later on top of my skin layer and add more colour to it ^_^ also i like adding some lights and stuff idk its my fav part tho
Tumblr media
anyway thats it! its not the best example im sorry about that but i hope it was still interesting ^-^

arrgh work has been horrible lately. like. just ughghg. ive been so drained and sad that i havent even been able to finish dragalia lost’s final chapter.....
:/// :(((
at least i did this tutorial. still waiting for the files to download. even if they dont technically run right now due to not having a server to connect to, maybe someone someday in the future will make a private server like how all those MMO nerds keep everquest alive and stuff so that we can play the game again. i know that its technically just 2 days now (counting down the hours to the last 24 :(( ) but like. i have 0 time im so sad abt it ugh.
anyways! tutorial on how to save your files and all the assets below! the video’s very helpful description also has the links to the guthubs and pythons and stuff you need to run the scripts to download.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyhRUaKV_G8
heres hoping my laptop can squeeze the eng/chinese/taiwan versions on to 20 gb, or ill break out my external hard drive or something idk.
ughhh.
i think that. im just kinda done with live service games right now. like gacha burnout + being burned by that korean kaledoscope gacha, a3! english, and now dragalia lost. like, i think i’ll still play genshin since its literally insane and seems like they’re really thinking of making it a long lived game like granblue or something and of course ffxiv which as an mmo, while still a “live service,” as an mmo i think that they are just. different? like gachas are sprinting to each and every banner, but the mmo model seems more like a light jog or marathon. of course there is some FOMO and time sensitive holiday events, etc., but mmos just seem different from gacha, especially f2p gacha. i think it may also just be that mmos as a genre/company model has more history than the more recent gacha anime gaming industry. so. like. yeah. i really do actually want to get back into other gacha that i put on hold for a3! eng and now dragalia. i really do want to see my best husbandos mammon and beel and satan in obey me, and i want to either give twst jpn a try for language learning purposes and/or finally install twst eng. and like. uhh. lol. nu carnival lol. and of course a3! jpn and enstars music of course. hahhahahaha new carnival what is that
but like all jokes aside i seriously just cant. you would think that since they’re phone apps and all i can just download them and go esp since i always have my phone with me but like. i cant bring myself to do it. ghuaoghg i feel like this is my phone being kinda old, the battery gets killed when i open games, the building i work in has no wifi and my cellular data is high enough, and work draining my energy to do anything but play genshin for 30-45 minutes in a mindless hack n slash grind for dailies and primos for saramouche and then maybe doing the custom delivery of the week in ffxiv and then going to bed. like thats it. i wake up at 6 am i go to work til 4 pm i travel home and shower i get tired i crawl into bed bc my room is cold i either read fanfic/watch youtube or i fall asleep until 10 pm and accidentally skip dinner and then i go to bed and wake up and the cycle just repeats for 7 days a week for 45+ hours a week. ughghurghru having 2 jobs was a mistake FML OTL...

I hope this is not spam because I was lately asking a lot of questions (also I talk a lot sorry for bothering you 👉👈)
Did you go to art school? Your art looks professional and very pretty and you manage to keep this flow that makes the poses, characters, coloring look very appealing, so I wanted to ask about your experience so I can improve my art because I just started posting lately on my tumblr and I want to improve the quality of my drawings! I’m talking about posing, camera angles and shading. You manage to use these elements in a way that looks very pretty and I want to learn how to capture that appeal! I know that everyone has their own learning pace and experience but in this medium other people’s experience is also very helpful
Sorry again if this is a bother I just want some art advice… also sorry I ramble a lot…
yeah no worries!! i like answering these questions!!
no, i never went to art school!! im 95% self taught, 5% looking at tutorials online for specific stuff!!
for posing: honestly most of the time is drawing a pose, thinking "nope thats not it," adjusting it, and thinking "thats not it either," until you eventually get it to "okay i can live with that" or something along those lines!! when i draw i have a rough idea of what kinda pose i want, its usually a combination of (general pose) + (emotion)!! for example the recent bikini mochi piece, i knew i wanted her standing up + nervous/self conscious!! you can observe people in real life / in media to observe what kind of pose expresses what emotion, like someone sitting up very straight and stiff can imply nervousness?attentiveness/anxiousness, and someone sitting slumped, hunched over, legs lazily folded can imply relaxation, idleness, etc!! so posing is about both action + what they feel!! hand gestures can also be good at expressing these emotions!! (a good example too is the "👉👈" hands to show like...nervousness?? shy?? something like that??) im pretty sure you can study more on this, but for me personally i just kinda use...,my own reactions/emotions as a model. how i react if i was in that situation, and the exaggerate it a bit so it communicates easier!!
for camera angles: i feel like this is more about how dramatic you want the piece to be...for me i always saw a straight on, forward facing camera angle as like, yeah this isnt THAT important its just for dialogue. then you can move the camera angle around for the sake of variety, drama, or a lot of times to get things to fit in the same frame!! id say the best way to get better at this is just read some manga and study the panels to see what kinds of angles they use!! im not sure the significance of each of if theres a deeper meaning, but at least it can give you a little inventory of idea for what perspectives you can use when you wanna mix things up!!
for shading: literally dont worry about shading. just...,,,do your best. if im being honest, i still dont know how to shade. its been like, 10 years and i never learned to shade. cuz shading means you have to consider whatever youre drawing in a 3d space and think about how the light would hit it, and where the shadows would go and its jus....too much for me LMFAOOO I DONT SHADE 90% OF MY WORK!!!!!! so if you wanna shade just do your best. i have no advice on this im sorry;,,, just do your best or not at all and it'll be fine!!!
for colors: i dont have much advice here either, i use colors appealing to my own eyes, which is usually pastels/soft colors!! one piece of advice i have is use a brown overlay on top of your piece cuz ive read it "brings the colors together" (which i dont really get but i assume it sort of...makes all the colors become a little browner so it looks better together??? idk) and put an overlay/add layer on top of whatever color you want the piece to have!! i usually put pink over all my art cuz i love it lol
anyway i hope that helped a little bit!! i never learned professionally so i cant explain it in an academic way but as always, the best advice is just to practice. just accept that youre gonna be a bad artist until youre a good artist and keep drawing, its the only way to really get better!! ive been drawing for at least...7 years and i still look at pieces from a few months ago and go "ew disgusting" so,,...youre always gonna be improving just be consistent!!! good luck!!

Anon said: theres something about your art thats so??? i dunno??? unique?????? like, u don’t have any prominent features to ur art- no exact way u draw eyes or hair- but when I look at it I just KNOW, somehow, that its yours- idk lol im rambling
Thank you so much for this ask, honestly!!! Since changing the tools I use to draw I’ve been feeling like whatever it was that made my style could have gotten lost in the transition, so knowing that whatever it is still shows through means the world to me right now!! ;;A;; bless you!
Anon said: You are the reason my heart has been shattered so many times. (If you didn’t get it, it means you got me into jjk)
God xD I hope you at least enjoyed it? Jjk is a hammer straight to the heart over and over, but as far as I’m concerned it’s all worth it - hopefully you felt the same as you got through it! I’d feel bad otherwise haha
Anon said: Fran! I love ur art sm!! I’m a newbie artist and ur SatoSugu art really /speaks/ to me,,,, idk haha but ur rlly inspiring! ❤️ Anyway could you maybe do a body anatomy tutorial? 🥺 👉👈 No pressure tho!! I completely understand if you have other things to do! <3
GOD ANON I wish I was good enough at anatomy to do something like that for you! As things stand though if I tried to I’d just end up passing all my mistakes onto you, which wouldn’t be good at all orz hope you won’t mind my not feeling up to it - there’s a ton of videos on yt for this kind of things though, made by actual professionals who’ll know how to explain way better than I ever could for sure! And if you’ll ever want to know how I go about smaller things that are more about style than actual rules, than just say so! I’ll do my best to help however I can in that case! And thank you for liking my stsg stuff, it really means so much to me ;A;! <3
Anon said: I just scrolled through your /entire/ KiriBaku tag— It took me about two hours and all I have to say is that I have absolutely zero regrets and I love your art /so much/. Seeing four years of your development is really motivating! And your ItaFushi doods,,,, you draw Megumi so pretty! I was going through a massive art lock recently, I can’t put into words how much you’ve helped me... love you, Fran, have a great day!
Boy how I feel you about the art block anon...... I’m glad my blog could help you through yours though!!! Hope you’ll have a great day filled with a lot of happy sketching too!!!
Anon said: you should totally make a kamisero fusion !! :D
ouch, I definitely won’t anon, I haven’t touched that au in literal years - I’m glad you still like it though! Thank you!!
Anon said: Did you know that i am literally. In love with your art. Keep it up your amazing
sobs thank you so much! I’ll do my best to keep it up as best as I can!!!! ;;;;; <3

Yo how tf did you get so good at art👏👏💖 Any tips on how to draw arms and hands?
Hahaha thanks (as BS as this answer is practice does help). Anyway, its funny for you to ask that since I’ve only gotten a hang of it pretty recently. I ran into two tutorials that clicked with me.
Tumblr media
Visualizing the arm as a chain helps with understanding how the muscles look ( actual anatomy helps a lot too). Here’s a few links to that tutorial link and link.
The other one helps with elbow placement (I couldn’t find the original tutorial) it’s essentially drawing the torso/shoulder and hand first then drawing a line. The middle of that line is where the elbow goes. Connect the wrist to elbow to shoulder and it’s smooth sailing from there.
I don’t have anything for you when it comes to hands tho. I literally use my own as reference (or picture references if I need them to be holding something specific knife ect idk).
To be honest I have a secret when it comes to anatomy and art. A majority of people don’t really know what certain things look like (arm and leg placement ect). They can only instinctively tell if something looks wrong (like super long limbs or something). So I’d say just sketch freely w/o worrying about the details. Get your idea down on paper then take a break and look at it with fresh eyes for anything that stands out as wrong (flipping the canvas helps with that). Then look for references/tutorials that fit your drawing that could help you fix the issue! Hopes this helps! Best of luck and keep 👏it👏UP👏

Hey Alice, I sort of want to start editing and making graphics and i LOVE yours, so I was wondering if you could teach me how you make those?🥺 like your edits and your things (these for example) If it doesnt bother you, of course. No pressure, thank you!
hey !! sorry it took me sO long to answer this, i hope you see it. and feel free to pop in and ask anything else, i’m happy to help <3
for starting editing i would start maybe editing on your phone to just get the general gist and hang of things ... and then move onto something like photoshop after a while so its not as confusing.
i'm also going to stick this under a read more because it does get rather long
also i should probably add a quick disclaimer : i am by no means an expert, i edit for fun and have done so for just over a year, and i have only very recently started using photoshop and there are many other ways / applications to do this / use. now with that out the way lets dive in !!
okay so i’m just gonna show you how i made each edit ... for the this one i used my phone and these apps ...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
phonto is for adding text, you can also download your own fonts of dafont. and polarr is for adding colouring / filters whatever u wanna call it.
so firstly i downloaded my screencaps from homeofthenutty (which is unfortunately a very temperamental website but it’s the best screencap website i’ve found so far).
so onto the actual edit ... i started off my adding my colouring in polarr
Tumblr media
then i added a light leak
Tumblr media
(i couldn’t remember which one i used previously ahdkkf so i just picked a random one for this)
and i did the same for the other picture which i used (same colouring, same light leak - different angle) also you can save your colourings in polarr by saving it as a style
Tumblr media
you will get better at colouring over time ... and there’s loads of presets and tutorials out there to help you as well !
lastly (as this edit was actually quite simple) i added my text in phonto which is relatively easy to use, and i would recommend downloading your own fonts ... you can always come and ask me for font recommendations bcs i lOvE fonts ajdkfkkf. you can just go and play around with the text until you land upon something that you like.
OKAY NEXT ! x
so this one i also did on my phone using these apps
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
same as last time but also using picsart as well which you can do various things on but i just used to place the images
so same as before i added my colouring for each screencap ... i think i used a different colouring for the middle one of i’m remembering correctly.
then to lay it out as i did i used picsart and went on freestyle :
Tumblr media
and then i picked out my three edited screencaps and fiddled around a lot until i got them how i wanted
Tumblr media
there is probably a way better application for this because it is very fiddly and requires a lot of patience to get it lined up evenly and the way you want.
after you do manage to get it how you want, i just cropped down my image size on polarr so it looked more even.
then i just added my text on phonto, and overlayed two fonts together to make it look a bit like a postcard or smth lol idk what i was going for haha.
okay last one ! x
this one was my first proper edit on photoshop / lightroom so it’s not the best ...
so i added my colouring on lightroom cc which has the same kinda layout as phonto ... kinda but it’s essentially the same thing.
i transported the coloured screencaps over to photoshop where i added highlights on dean’s face using the dodge tool on a duplicated layer which i put on the blend mode luminosity. i did the same on the screencap with cas in it and added highlights to the background and lighter parts to make it pop a bit more.
i also selected the background on both of them separately using the quick selection tool and went to filter > noise > reduce noise to make it a bit smoother.
then i just added the text on photoshop and voila done !!
if you have ANY questions AT ALL, want me to explain something in more detail or just want more tips, my ask box is always open <333
i hope this helped !! and i do hope you see it because it has been a few days ahsjkdkd

Hihi!! I'm procrastinating on a project so feel free to ignore me lmao but I wanted to ask? Do you happen to have any tips on learning coloring and anatomy? Your art is such an inspiration, and its at a level I dream to be at someday!! Anything abt where to get refrences/how to go abt learning would be helpful, but whatever is fine!! Have a nice day stay hyrdrateeeeeeddd
ooh well i learned mostly by watching tutorials on youtube and looking at references !! i know thats a very basic answer lmfsdkjfs
i have a pinterest where ive been saving up refs/tips/etc for a couple years so if u wanna look through that? https://pin.it/1N5YeIf  (i havent looked at the “how to draw” board in forever lol but its separated into sections of anatomy/color/poses stuff like that, the refs board is more recent and it’s what i use most often)
plus i follow a BUNCH of artists especially on instagram and i look at what they do to get better :] speedpaints help a lot esp with rendering !!!
as for colors idk i still havent technically taught myself color theory KGJHDFG i just know the basics like complementary colors and the like, i just kinda eyeball what looks ok.. and you could probably find a wayy more in depth lesson on youtube!! plus you can find color palette generators online that can help if ur stuck with picking them out
also practice obviously and keeping a sketchbook on hand to doodle n train ur hand and test out ideas n stuff 👍👍 hope this is helpful!! good luck <3

hi ella, ur the only canadian i can think of so i wanted to ask u (don’t answer if u feel weird!!) but i recently committed to mcgill and it afraid i won’t fit in and don’t know the culture as well as well everyone else i guess. btw, i am american and from a relatively large, elitist california city lol. but the thought of not being able to make friends and what not is making me really stressed out and is making me question my decision to go to canada. do u have any advice? ❤️ love u
It’s not weird hehe!! First of all, congratulations on getting into McGill!!!! Montreal is a beautiful city and that’s a great school :3 Anywho, I’m happy you came to me for advice, I’ll try my best!!!
Culture-wise, here are some random tips:
Tim Hortons is the Canadian go-to for coffee/breakfast/what-not. If you like coffee, the way our orders go is instead of saying two cream/two sugar we just say “double double”. Tbh I’ve never heard anyone say single single LOLLLL But I’ve heard triple triple before
I’m pretty sure not a lot of people say this anymore but just in case: a loonie = $1 coin; toonie = $2 coin. Also we don’t have pennies anymore!
Montreal buses don’t have air conditioning from what I remember
?? I can’t really think of anything that might surprise you, Canada isn’t much different at all!! I would make a statement about colonization but that would not do much to help u!
Also just a thing now that you mention elitism: the way college and university works here (from what I know living in Ontario) is that a lot of people look down on college. College is more career-based here, meaning you have a lot of practical/hand-on training. You can usually get your certificate/diploma within two years. University, on the other hand, is more “academic”, and this is where you get your degree. So you can see that “divide” in like... being “more prestigious”, being “more learned” etc etc. It’s just really stupid and both my brothers went to college and are making MONEY and are happy so what I have to say to people who look down on college is *my middle finger*
Anyway, my first piece of advice on making friends: go to Frosh if you’re able to!!! Frosh is a great way to make friends—I’m pretty sure McGill’s lasts like a week ? And the drinking age in Quebec is 18 so I know a lot of people who went there who had the time of their liiiiiives 😭😭😭😭 But drinking isnt the only thing you need to do LOL. It’s just a really good time to mingle. The main thing you should try to do (if you end up going, and if its not cancelled due to COVID) is see who’s in the same program as you because you’ll be taking a majority of the same classes as those people! Also, there are usually Facebook groups that people create for their graduating year (for example, I’m in a group with all the graduates of 2022 of my university). The way we got to know each other in 2018 is we all posted our own intro posts lol!! Idk if McGill does that but look it up to see if it’s there :)
Second piece: look up the student directory and check out clubs you might be interested in! Usually programs will have its own student association. For me I have access to the political science SA, and the English lit SA as well. These associations can plan meetings that help you mingle with professors and students in your program. Also you can just check out some super mundane/low stakes participation clubs. I really wanted to join knitting club LOL but I was too busy
Also international students should have access to programs that help you get familiar with the city. The student centre has a loooot of resources for you to use and take advantage of—after all, it’s part of your tuition! So don’t be scared to talk to advisors because they’re there to help you navigate living in a new city and going to a new school! I will say though that they tend to be overwhelmed with a LOT of people coming in everyday, so sometimes wait times can take a whole day. It gets super frustrating on that front but again I will emphasize that they will try their best to help you!!!!!
I think what I would really like to stress here is that it’s okay if you don’t make friends right away. (I’m entering my third year next year and I can count on *one* hand how many friends I’ve made !! I’m not kidding!!) It might feel like you’re just floating in that sea of a student body but I proooomise you will find people to be friends with. Idk if McGill has tutorials for every class but those are sort of like little classroom-sized settings where you’re able to talk to other students and this is how I became friends with one of the friends I have now. Or sit next to someone who has an empty seat beside them during lecture!! I would do this and sometimes our profs would make us have discussions so I was forced to talk to these people LOL which helped me because I’m very shy, it’s very hard for me to start conversations just because
And just remember that A lot of those students are in the same boat as you. Post-secondary education is an entirely different ballpark of socialization and learning style. You’re all going through it together! It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and scared, I’ve been where you are. But I promise you it will be fun and it will be worth it!!! And because you talked to me about it, I’m saying right now, everything will be okay. I have a big head and therefore a big brain and therefore I’m really in tune with the universe and the universe is telling me to tell you that you will be fine:) If u need to talk more just send me another ask and I’ll open messaging for you 💖💖💖💖 I hope this helped even the slightest bit, I love u much ;-;

Color Editing Tutorial!
Hello! So I’ve never actually posted a tutorial before but I was recently asked about changing skin color, and really it’s all a color play and lighting thing, so here it goes? I’m going to use Loki as an example and make him Jotun Loki colors (but without all the extra Jotun lines and such because really that’s just a steady hand and trial and error, and just knowing from experience how to shortcut the shadows and stuff lol). The same basics apply with this method that I mostly use, no matter what colors you’re changing though, the only thing different will be how you play with your settings.
1. Here’s our original pic:
Tumblr media
2. Choose a soft edged brush at a size you can get the corners with and create a new layer, then color over his skin! You can always use eraser to trim any extra color bits you dont want later (if mine is kinda sloppy it’s just bc i didn’t take the time I usually take: take the time! And use the 'smudge tool’ to drag the color layer into where it should be on the edges!):
Tumblr media
3. Here’s the important part. On the layers tab, change your painted layer from ‘normal’ and cycle through the choices until you get the effect you want. For more natural changes, you can see the plain ‘color’ layer typically works. Sometimes it’s ‘hue’ or ‘overlay’. Note the opacity as well. This one’s at 47%. This will vary depending on the lighting and intensity of your original picture. Mess with it til it looks good! See?:
Tumblr media
To change other parts of the picture (here it’s Loki’s eyes) you need another layer. Below, I erased the blue layer over his eye, then created a new layer and colored red:
Tumblr media
The best option for this picture within the layer choices is ‘overlay’ + lowered opacity.
Tumblr media
Next you have to edit the overall lighting so it matches the new colors more! I feel like many people can forget this and so the edited figure looks more out of place than it could be. Note the red dots, mess with those things after making adjustment layers when you click the little half white half black circle thingy, as so:
Tumblr media
Note above that I added a layer first above only the original picture layer to change the brightness and contrast. THEN above ALL the layers I added Bright/contrast, hue/saturation, and exposure layers to adjust as needed to make both Loki and his surroundings more natural for whichever type of lighting I prefer. Each layer can also be adjusted individually by going to ‘image’ in the toolbar and choosing which adjustment you’re making.
If you want to change certain layers as a group but not others, you will want to ctrl+select each layer then click the ‘create new group’ button to the right of the button i circled up there ^. Then you do your layered effect edits within the group. (This is a good point to say I’m using Photoshop CS6 and with Adobe being....how they are, idk what version anyone else has, I just know...I have this one...by way of...means...)
There are so many cool visual things you can do just by playing with colors, layers, and the layer changing options!! This works with nearly any color change as long as you keep playing with opacity, brightness, and hue settings on the base color’s image layer. The trick really is to play with it until you memorize what each effect can do. For instance, below it looks like a sunbeam just because i turned off all the other layers and streaked a new (dark brownish) color but set the layer to linear dodge (this will turn dark colors into light beams mostly!), then changed the contrast of the base picture:
Tumblr media
Play with each layer. LAYERS ARE YOUR FRIEND. Every time you put a new color it should be its own editable layer that you can change whenever by adding an effects layer. Mess with the opacity, brightness/contrast, hue, exposure. Look at what all the layer effects on top next to the opacity percentage can do and how they work on different colors within different shades and brightness/darkness levels. I feel like playing with it does more help than just telling you how to do one specific effect. That’s it! Go forth and have fun!
I hope this makes sense and helps to make new edits! :)

Hey! I'm looking for a fic with this plot and I can't recall the name: bucky and steve live in the countryside i guess, i know bucky has some animals?! and he then goes for a trip and spend sometime with another family and gets a horse or something like that. Clint and Laura are very present as well.

I feel like an idiot for not remembering the fic but it was a oneshot you recommended here fairly recently? In it Pre-serum Steve and Bucky are walking in the street drunk in the 1940s, and then Bucky kisses Steve.

hi!! so i was reading a fic earlier and can’t seem to find it anywhere. it was just above 17,000 words and 7/7 chapters. it was stucky at the end of endgame and steve is going to put all the infinity stones back and decides he wants to save bucky in the past. steve meets star-lord. i think bucky and steve we’re together before he goes to return the stones.

hi! I'm looking for a fic I read where Steve and Bucky called each other "sugar" and "baby" because they signed off letters as "SGR" and "BB." they thought their initials kind of looked like sugar/baby so they started using those pet names. thanks so much for all you guys do!

What's that fic where the Avengers find mute Steve and Bucky in a HYDRA base and the two use ASL to communicate? Steve and Bucky had both been prisoners of HYDRA and the fic focused on their recovery. There was a lot of medical stuff in it. It was so good and well researched and I want to finish reading it but I lost it :(

I just suddenly remembered (after seeing some fanart that reminded me) a fic where Bucky, Steve and Sam are all out for a run and Bucky starts running backwards to talk to them easier and Sam gets REALLY annoyed and runs away and then Steve has to explain that Sam was already running full speed and Bucky just easily kept up while running backwards. I'm pretty sure it's only a tiny section of a larger fic so idk if anyone remembers what it's from

So, sorry to bother you but I went through all of the searches and I still can’t find this fic. It’s where Bucky is apprehended by shield and on the way in he is malnourished and emaciated, Steve, Sam and him are all in a shield center with three woman named Tati, Sarah and something else and Steve and Bucky have obvious feeling for eachother. The shield center is in a natural area with gardens and trees and I just can’t remember, I would love if anyone could help me out?

Love your work! My fic question is where Steve has liberated Azzano and is taking the troops back. He doesn't take care of himself, not knowing about his metabolism and winds up unconscious. Bucky takes care of him and chews him out when he wakes up. If this rings any bells, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
