How do I feel about this character

I love Darius so much he's absolutely one of my top favorites, it's like between him and Eda. He's hilarious, he's cunty, he's interesting, he's one of Dana's favorites, he's a good person but he's a bitch about it, his design fucks, he has no canon love interest, and I wish we got more of him. I have so many thoughts on him and he was only in about 15min of screentime.

What can I say, I looked at all the Coven Heads in the S2B trailer and immediately decided he was my favorite and every time he was on screen I was validated by how thoroughly he passed the vibes check

All the people I ship romantically with this character

I am typically an aroace Darius enjoyer, but I have fondness for dariraine, dariraeda, and darimila (why is he always listed first and why is it fitting (wait I have to preface I'm ace and I use ship names by what sounds best I have literally never done it by "who tops" I can barely remember that's the common use of ship name order SO I'm mocking Darius as he would wanna be listed first because he's That Bitch)) because all of them have a lot of cute fluff potential (and dariraine has fun angst potential especially if it's between Eda's Requiem and O Titan, Where Art Tho)

Typically tho even in those ships I don't see Darius as someone that would live with a romantic partner, I think he'd want to keep his own house lol and he's very valid, it's styled exactly how he likes and no one else lives up to his cleanliness standards, it's win win for both parties

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Darius & Eberwolf is literally Lilith & Hooty a little to the left and it's sooo fucking funny and wholesome for it. Lilith was actually my S2A obsession until she left I was so fucking devastated when she moved out, so seeing Darius & Eberwolf were a similar archetype to Lilith & Hooty really endeared me to them immediately in ER when we knew nothing about them. Then by the series end they really are one of my favorite little duos of toh they're comedy gold potential but didn't get enough screentime 😔 Darius surrendered for Eberwolf even tho it was at the cost of the rebellion and I still think about that scene. Guy who joked about people dying is likely actually not being pragmatic at all when it comes to loved ones 👍 they threaten Terra Adrian & Vitimir lol

I'm also a "Darius & Eda used to be besties and will do so again" truther. They're the same yet opposites, they're both dramatic, they're both powerful, they both have a hot monster form, and they both speedran becoming adoptive parents after just being That Guy to some kid for a while. The ONE episode of interactions they had in COTH with Darius having to exasperatingly tell Eda what he means but also he calls her "Eda" not "Edalyn" like everyone else but Raine does, and Eda mocking Darius over beating his ass in ER and Darius IMMEDIATELY getting defensive & lying which Eberwolf calls him out for, DO YOU SEE MY VISION? THEY USED TO BE BESTIES. THE CLAWTHORNE PARENTS LOVED DARIUS. DARIUS & EDA WERE EACH OTHER'S ASSHOLE FRIEND. THAT FANART OF THEM IN FACIAL MASKS & DOING THEIR NAILS WATCHING DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES IS WHAT THEY WERE.

My unpopular opinion about this character

Liking him at all is still quite unpopular 😔 this fandom sure treats the nonwhite parents a certain way lol. I also don't really like ala//darius, I get the appeal but it doesn't compel me

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon

I've had a perfectly envisioned idea for a year or two now of an toh episode that followed the rebel trio after Them's the Breaks, Kid and before Hollow Mind that was a 3 part split reminiscent of how Once Upon A Swap was paced.

Not only would it tie back to the style of OUAS -- a notoriously hated toh episode -- but it would be able to give info in a slow drip by following Raine first, then by the end we see Raine is working with Darius & Eberwolf, then it goes back to the beginning of the day through Eberwolf's POV, then Darius' POV, and ending on the buildup that they're the rebels Hunter is chasing at the beginning of HM.

We as the audience can tell by the designs who they were in HM (or well. Most of us. Some people thought Darius was Alador for some reason) but ahhh think of the extra foreshadowing that could've been in HM if we got an episode inside the castle so close to the day of unity!! Like what if Collector's shadow was visible at one point behind one or all of the rebels, letting us know Belos knew exactly who they were which lead to the foreshadowing in HM of the 3 arrows being where Darius, Raine(Eda), & Eberwolf each get put to stand during the day of unity spell in King's Tide BUT ALSO how we don't REALIZE it's referencing them specifically UNTIL KT AIRS. LIKE THE LAYERS IT COULD'VE ADDED.

Also obligatory Darius Hunter moment has to happen here to lead to Darius' reaction in HM upon hearing Hunter was trapped considering their last on screen moment in ASIAS and some people even now can't visualize them interacting in a positive manner 🙄

I do imagine it would be a touch 🤏 angsty. Like in my vision, Darius sees Hunter getting heat from Kikimora over a wild magic book, and it's like she can't really do anything to him over it but she could tell Belos who would be unhappy to hear that and all 3 of them are aware this would be the outcome, and Darius debates for a solid 10 seconds if he should pretend he didn't see them because well as heartless as he knows it sounds it actually benefits him & the rebellion keeping Hunter at arm's length but now that he's spent time with the kid he's like not a bad kid maybe they can convince him to join them?? Before he goes over and like a true actor plays it off that he asked Hunter for the book. Hunter obviously does not play along well as he's not a good actor, so Darius very condescendingly tells Kikimora to leave like "you can read, can't you, Kiki?" And she sputters "yes of course I--" and he just cuts her off "then read the room" while giving her a cold look until she awkwardly and angrily leaves. Like absolute cunt behavior from Darius but it's hilarious and it works to his cover as a CH. He gives Hunter the book back when Kikimora leaves and they good naturedly mock the other's taste in books ("I don't know how you can read that, Deadwarian era writing is dreadful to slog through" "Well some of us like reading more than fashion magazines") before they pass the mess hall and Darius asks Hunter if he's eaten, "Y-yes!", Flapjack is not standing for such lies and pecks him from under his cloak, which Darius knows is Flapjack so he laughs and tells Hunter to eat, Hunter pauses before he tries to genuinely thank Darius for defending him earlier, and then well shit remember how it's better for the rebellion if Darius keeps Hunter at arm's length maybe he needs to remember the bigger picture? He was literally doing rebel work when he got distracted helping Hunter out, so he kinda gently tells Hunter not to expect he can always go save him, and because Hunter's an abused teen (not that Darius really knows that yet) and he was enjoying having an adult that's nice to him now he visibly deflates before quickly excusing himself

Darius apologizes under his breath because he doesn't enjoy being mean to Hunter (even back when he was being mean to him) but it's one of those hard choices he makes like how Raine refused to get Eda involved. Can be miserably tied back to how Hunter ends up hiding at Hexside and not the rebels finding & helping him.

Wow I went insane typing that all but yeah that's my vision of what I would add to canon if I could add 1 episode into the show that doesn't change anything at all it only adds character filler & foreshadowing potential. Maybe I'll actually write this fic one day haha.

Another thing I kinda wish canon would've done was overtly state Darius adopted Hunter because like it's clearly implied but a lot of people still deny it! Dadrius won guys let us have this they had to cut so much stuff from the show including Darius backstory

Headcanons Pt 1 - Nightmare's Gang

'Aight, I'm bored, haven't posted in ages, I need to do something. While I have been mostly inactive in the UTMV fandom, I thought it'd be fun to post some of my more uncommon headcanons! And some pretty common ones too, I guess. Here we go! This is all for sympathetic everyone btw. No heartless Sanses here!

Horror:

The shortest Sans in Nightmare's Gang. I will start fighting people over this. He was starved for years and people make him so much larger than the rest of the gang! He is tiny and spindly and it takes time for him to even begin to spar with the others

Best cook, 10/10, knows all the recipes. He had to spice up the lot of nothing he and Papy had, so he knows how to make a little go a long way and taste good

Really good at taking care of plants and animals. Always seems to be in tune with what others need.

Has sharper senses than most Sanses, minus his eyesight, but not by much

So nearsighted he needs glasses, but would break or loose them if he got any. His eye is too damaged to try contacts, physical or magical

Would be the best around children. Just, so caring and attentive. Panics a bit if they cry though

Isn't too science minded. I'd say since his AU deviated from canon Undertale, he'd focus less on science and more on food

Hates fish. Partially to do with Undyne, partially because their scales and gills freak him out. Hates cooking with them too

Very cuddly, loves being around as many people as possible

Killer:

Gonna say this once and only once: Human Killer would be ginger.

He cannot cook. Don't let this man into the kitchen. Not only is he a pyromaniac with poor self-control, he also swims in chaos and could not care less about the well-being of others

Has ADHD. Can't stand still for two seconds. Whenever Nightmare's lecturing or talking or something, he's always pacing around. Listening, but moving

Absolutely a cat person, but only has a single black cat and she's missing an eye

Is a flirt but terrified of romance. Hates it, can't stand it. Don't speak to my man about love. Personally, I think he's aroace, but flirts for fun

He can use knives as weapons but not for much else. Can't cut food, not very good at whittling, don't even get me started on peeling vegetables

Surprisingly, he is good at using knife-adjacent things, mostly tools that are basically just knives

I like people who headcanon him as a carver, because he totally would be. But I think his main medium for art would be clay. He has a potters wheel that he doesn't use too often as he likes sculpting without it

Dust:

Continuing on with the MTT, Dust can cook soup. He can make more, doesn't like to, don't ask him to

The most scientifically minded of Nightmare's Gang, he makes a lot of their chemical based weapons, smoke bombs, acids, and the like

His vision gets fuzzy during fights due to his magic, and nobody knows how to help. He's learned to fight with it, but it is a bit risky

Out of everyone in the gang, he gets overstimulated the easiest

He was the first of Nightmare's Gang. Then Killer, Horror, and lastly, Cross.

Chara had abandoned Dusttale for years before Nightmare found it, so Dust is used to absolute silence, he doesn't like it much

He doesn't like being around too many people at once, but it's better than being alone. He'll actively seek out company if it gets too quiet. Said company is often Horror, because H never really gets that loud

Nightmare's right-hand man and the braincell of the gang

Cross:

Has leukophobia and kenophobia

Great cook, rarely burns food, can make things taste good, and is probably the only one who is allowed to help Horror in the kitchen

Him and his Chara are actually pretty close. Not at first, obviously, but as time goes on, they both realize they are the only ones left of their AU. They hang on to each other when the memories don't shut up

Always finds a way to call Nightmare "my prince" or "your highness." Nightmare has asked him to stop, repeatedly

Likes climbing things. He'll go up into a tree and fall asleep there if someone lets him. Will also do this on rocks, walls, buildings, and people

Very quiet. His normal footsteps barely make any sound and he uses this to sneak up on people

Probably the most mischievous in the gang, second only to Killer. His best friend is Epic, this man is a complete and utter troll. Nightmare once woke up to his room flooded with rubber chickens. It wasn't Killer.

His voice is naturally so soft that you can barely hear him. His laugh sounds like a little imp though.

Well versed in sign language! His Frisk was mute and thus he had to learn it at a young age. He sometimes signs when he talks so the gang can understand him better. Granted, Nightmare is the only other person fluent in sign

Nightmare:

Freaking nerd.

Knows so many languages and three of them are dead. He had a lot of time on his hands after he left his AU

Had no idea he was farsighted until he found Dust, who could read things easily. He tried everything to make reading easier and just assumed that his goop had somehow ruined his vision

Can technically cook. There are no promises that it'll actually taste good though. It may also be burnt or expired.

He has to consume a mix of emotions and physical food to keep himself alive. He did not know he needed to eat until after he found Horror. The magical overload of the Apple Incident managed to sustain him. He passed out in front of Horror and was put on a "diet," if it can be called that

His corruption is semi-sentient. It's not malicious, but it's more selfish than Nightmare used to be. And I mean, Pass. Night was a doormat. He wouldn't fight back even if his life depended on it. The corruption keeps him from attempting to give everything he has to please others. It's still kind of an issue

He forgave Nim for everything she threw on him and Dream. Nobody in Nightmare's Gang thinks any of that was okay.

Really likes curling up with people. He'll drag some of the gang to a couch or bed and just curl his tentacles around them. Very cozy.

His magic is a bit of an "acquired taste." Without any prior exposure, it feels dangerous, threatening. But after time, one begins to realize it's like a blanket, covering and protective

Error:

Out off all the Sanses here who have eyesight issues, Error's are the worst. Not only does he naturally have poor vision, his glitching makes it way worse

Doesn't need or want food. He'll eat it to make others happy or less worried about him though

Knows a lot of string based arts, crochet is his favorite though

Has to sleep above the ground. No idea why, he just doesn't like sleeping on a bed, or chairs, or couches. He has to web himself a hammock and sleep ten feet above everyone else

Hates the sound of chewing. Annoys him to no end, will stab his own nonexistent ears if someone chews next to him

A bird person. He really likes parrots and cockatoos

Mildly leukophobic. He doesn't spend too much time in the anti-void because of that

Yes, he's brothers with Geno and Fresh. Yes, they both annoy him to no end. Yes, he would kill and die for them. No, they may not be in the same room as him. He's also the middle child

Was not born with dyslexia. Does not read or write enough to confirm or deny if he got it after he glitched. He does have it though

Likes gardening. Never forgets to tend to his plants

And there we go! I love all headcanons from anybody, it's so fun to see how other people see the same characters! I do love tiny Horror, though. I'll cover the Stars next. I'll keep them all sympathetic too, as much as I used to hate Dream as a person, he's a great character and I know how to write him with more emotions then just toxic positivity. As much as I love emotionless Ink, I never used to write him like that and it's still uncommon for me to do so today. Blue's just a bean, we've never had any issues anyway.

Anyways jotaro boypussy canon he told me and star plat is ALSO transgender. he (star) acts like a big dog sometimes he doesnt speak and mostly communicates by gestures and hes suuuper cuddly and sweet and gets excitable very easily. hes very curious and probably just has a little pile of things that are important to him in jotaros room. hes also the biggest snitch ever but also helps w communication bc i think joot is autistic w selective mutism (Just Like Me Fr…) so star will hold up a whiteboard and pen looney toons style when jotaro just Cannot Word. holy ahit you can tell im biased

💡- What inspires you to write the muse(s)?

This is actually an answer for all of them but just because I love them so much. I put all this time and effort into them, I want to let them go out and explore the world, see new things and people. And especially for those of my muses who require character development, I want to see them grow. For those who don’t need it, I want to challenge them and their ideals to see if they still stick. And it’s my favorite part to continue on with a rp and get inside their head, it lets me learn so much more about them.

💕- Favorite ship for the muse(s)?

This is a bit hard to answer for all of them, because not a lot of them have had romantic encounters with other rpers just yet. I think my favorite for Isla so far is the one with her and Aaravos (beautifully dubbed Islaavos.) Their chemistry is just simply *chef’s kiss*! I love the way they bonded in the mirror prison and it was amazing watching them grow in their relationship and care for one another! And it was so nice to give Isla a romantic relationship that didn’t end in pain for once lmao. Ugh. Those two make my heart sing with joy whenever I go back and read the rp where it all started.

Riley, though he hasn’t quite had a chance to shine anywhere, there are two people I have in mind that I like for him. On the canon side: Viren, surprisingly enough. I think they have enough similarities between them but just enough difference because Viren does care for his family in his own weird way, and it might encourage Riley to do the same. Plus, I love the teasing flirt x grumpy one who hates it, especially when they both have trust/emotional avoidance issues lol, makes things ✨ spicy ✨. On the other hand, there is another character I’ve been developing for his story, who still doesn’t have a name other than Mr. Bounty hunter. What can I say? I love a good rivals to lovers, it’s got beautiful work for angst and again, that push to make Riley a bit better than he is. Make him understand he does have a heart in his body, he just needs to let it out of the fortified prison he’s put it in.

And then there’s Ciri, who yes is aroace, but I love the idea of her and Isla being in a QPR together. I think it would be adorable, I love their interactions so much, and they’ve already had years to build up mutual trust and love. Everything’s there, just one more step in a slightly new direction for both of them. Plus they both have pretty giant families, and two giant families combining to make an even bigger family would be so neat to write!

💢- Something about the muse(s) that annoys you?

We’re gonna start right off the bat with Riley ‘cause he’s the easiest. He’s an asshole. Plain and simple. He’s a player, a dirty, lying conman and will sacrifice you without a second thought because he’s convinced himself he has no heart nor a soul. And it’s very frustrating because you would be wrong sir! You do have a heart and soul! And they could be good if you’d just stop mentally and emotionally destroying yourself! The most annoying thing about him is that he could work himself out to be better if he would just take that leap. But he never does, because he’s ridiculously stubborn.

Then there’s Nova, and I’m annoyed with her for largely the exact same reason. Was she severely traumatized? Yes, and I do still feel sorry for that. And she’s technically trying to make herself better and heal herself, but she’s going about it in the wrong way. She thinks fixing the outside will fix the inside, when it’s really the other way around. But she’s got such tunnel vision that she won’t listen to that. And she doesn’t even realize that she’s destroying herself even further by looking for this white stag that just doesn’t exist. (Yes technically they do in Xadia I think but I’m speaking metaphorically here) But she refuses to accept that it doesn’t, because she thinks accepting that she can’t fix her appearance means she’s accepting that she’s broken beyond repair, that Dorian won, and she would rather die than admit that. Which actually makes her more frustrating than Riley because she’s so close to recognizing what she needs, but she’s running parallel to that line and I very desperately just want to give her a shove to get her there.

so hey.......y’all remember when i said that sometimes, just for fun and the hell of it, i make lists of “endgame” ships in my fandoms? bc yeah, that’s a thing that i do sometimes. XD

having now finished kh3, i’ve finally finished my endgame ship list for kh, and i figured that it might be a fun thing to share!

the actual list i’m gonna put behind a cut, bc it’ll be hella long (bc seriously.....i put about 95% of the characters into ships, and this includes all of the humanoid-ish disney characters too (barring most of the villains, bc....well, those characters are dead)), but before that, i’ll give you some....idk, context behind this list. 

keep in mind, this entire affair is just like........gonna involve a fuck-ton of indulgence on my part. and most of this is fairly light-hearted. most importantly of all, this is pretty much a self-challenge: i paired up the majority of the characters just to see if i could, with the additional challenge that i could only pair them with characters that actually, canonically, have appeared in kh (this means that i couldn’t substitute in other final fantasy or disney characters); i did this to see how creative i could get with my ships, really. 

idk if i’ll ever actually get around to writing fanfic for this verse (tho i do have a lot of headcanons, and i’ve actually put (probably far too much) thought into how i think these ships would work/come about, and my long-suffering friend Ip, bless her, has been an incredibly good sport about being a sounding board for all this), but i tend to refer to it as my “Healing Vision”, and it’s basically a post-kh3 AU, that presumes that everyone but xehanort (and also eraqus) got to live happily ever after. and this verse is so named bc, apart from everyone being able to heal and be happy after the traumatic canon, i also wanted to do my absolute best to put them in.....idk, healthy ships, and not ones that i think would be more toxic. everyone had redemption arcs, is what i’m saying (even if they never did or would have gotten them in canon).

y’all don’t understand, at this point i probably have over a hundred pages in various word docs of notes about this verse, so please feel free to ask if you want to hear more about it, i need validation of my madness---

- should probably mention that all the worlds are just vaguely All Connected Now

- ven and hercules dated in bbs (then the Plot happened, ven pretty much vanished, and eventually herc moved on. they’re a bit awkward with each other now, but they agreed it’d be too weird to even attempt to date now, bc herc outgrew ven while he was in a magic coma)

- zack’s alive bc they forced hades to resurrect him like he did with auron (my hc is that the deal he made with cloud in kh1 was to bring zack back to life, but hades reneged on this; when cloud finally shared this info with sora, a Quest was undertaken to get hades to honor the deal)

- repliku’s name in this verse is Kiru (he decided to go along with the Theme, minus the sigil); sora’s mom is named Hikari; and i’m going with henry and florian for the real names of prince charming and snow’s prince, respectively (marluxia will probably still call henry “charming” as a sort of affectionate and kind of joking nickname (bc in this verse, henry is the definition of a Disaster Gay))

- goofy and pete dated in the past, but broke up with goofy came out as aroace; pete’s still kinda bitter about it

- aqua/larxene/yuffie is 100% a thing bc i feel that aqua deserves to be able to have fun and not be the responsible mom friend for once; aqua and cinderella also have some playful flirting, but it’s never really serious

- terra’s getting a staycation with his girlfriend, and aqua’s getting a vacation with her girlfriends 

- olette/xion/namine/sora/riku is Peak indulgence for me; i love namixiolette, sonami, and soriku too much to want to choose between them? fuck it, they’re all smushed together in a poly pile now. this is my indulgence fic, i can do what i want, and none of you can stop me XP (the other sub-ship combos, riku with any of the girls, and sora with the other two girls, are more queerplatonic, ftr)

- there’s like a whole soap opera behind mickey/minnie/daisy/donald/goofy coming to their current arrangement, mostly bc the idea of giving all the Drama to these characters in particular amuses me; same with past goofy/pete

- a recurring Theme in this verse is that compulsory heterosexuality is the true darkness, and pretty much no one is straight (and so, light = gay) (this is how the final confrontation in kh3 truly went down: sora: kingdom hearts, is gay! / xehanort: shit...u right, bro. kk, lemme just fade into the light of gay with my bf then)

- sephiroth in this verse is mostly just a vehicle for me to be able to mildly punish terrible lightside mentors, so this ship with the MoM is kinda a cracky spite ship (before kh3 went all in on xehaqus, this was eraqus’s original fate XD)

- i will admit, gula/brain is mostly just me going, “you both really annoy me, and i don’t care to find you better ships, so you two can deserve each other”; to be fair to myself, this attitude was on the rarer side during this process

- hiro totally builds a robot body for tron to use to visit the outside world, tho he still chooses to live in the computer most of the time; tron’s besties with baymax 1 & 2

- i’ll be honest: scrooge, huey, dewey, louie, chip, dale, and possibly jiminy, by my rules, should have been put into ships. they’re not bc i couldn’t find any that worked for me *shrugs*

- phil is more like zeus’s on and off again boyfriend; he’s really fucking annoyed that he keeps having to train a lot of zeus’s offspring, and that he kinda, in a way, ends up doing more parenting for them than zeus does; currently phil is kinda claiming herc away from zeus (”i’m his dad now, so there”) (so at this point, their relationship is more of a hatemance than anything else) (i guess in my hc, zeus skews more towards being like his myth self than the disney version)

- the total number of ships, if you’re curious, is 75

- i’ve actually got queer headcanons for the square characters (excluding the khux squad), and some of the disney characters, figured out (as an example, namine is a demiromantic asexual)

Hey Damion! I shall do my very best. Patton and Roman are the two most difficult sides for me to write so I apologize if this is OOC! Also, sorry this is so late!

The Sun Never Sets

Pairing: Royality (can be read as platonic or romantic)

Warnings: Talk of nightmares, panic attack (if there are any others that I missed, please let me know)

Summary: Patton has a nightmare, and who better to protect him from the dangers that lurk in the dark than a dashing prince?

Moonlight filtered through the blinds covering Roman’s open window, spilling onto the floor in a pool of shimmering silver. The gentlest of breezes blew through the room and brushed across the sleeping creative side’s cheek. His face twitched ever so slightly but the man remained asleep. Serenity coated his features as vivid images danced through his never-stilling mind. His brow furrowed, however, when he sensed a darkness clouding the edges of his unconscious. Fierce brown eyes snapped open and the prince summoned his sword as he leapt from his bed. There was a foe somewhere within the mindscape. Somewhere within the dreams of his companions. As the keeper of Thomas’ dreams, it was his responsibility to slay the beasts that corrupted the whimsical fantasies he crafted. There would be no nightmares this evening. Not on his watch.

Roman stalked down the hallway, his sword at the ready. His first stop, Virgil’s bedroom. More often than not, when there were nightmares, they originated from the emo’s room. But when he silently pushed open the door, there Virgil was. His bangs were plastered messily across his face as he lay in what looked like an incredibly uncomfortable position, but he was indeed sleeping quite peacefully for once. The ghost of a smile tugged at Roman’s lips as he gently closed the door and resumed his search. Next up, Patton. A short while ago, he wouldn’t have even considered that their perpetual ray of sunshine could ever spark a nightmare but after their exploration of the father figure’s room, his eyes were opened to just how much Patton hid.

Roman needed to show him that he never had to hide ever again.

As he approached the moral side’s door, he nearly froze in his tracks at the sound of muffled sobbing. Newly motivated, he rushed toward the room, his sword vanishing as he did so. This was not a situation where bursting through the door swinging a sword would do much good. Ignoring the ice that was seemingly flowing through his veins, pushing through the fear that pulsed through his body, Roman twisted his hand and flung the door open.

Stepping into Patton’s room, the prince was shocked to find himself enveloped in a darkness so complete that the dim light from the hallway seemed to evaporate once it passed the doorframe.

“Patton?” Roman called into the void, unsure of how much the nightmare was distorting the dimensions of the room. The sobbing, which had abruptly stopped when the door opened, began again.

“Ro-roman?” Patton’s whimper came from somewhere to the prince’s right. Roman made his way farther into the room, his boots clicking loudly against the seemingly wooden floors. It wasn’t like he could see them anyway.

“Patton, I need you to keep talking darling, I cannot see in here. Where are you?”

“I-I’m on my bed, I think you’re to my left? Keep-um, keep…” the fatherly figure paused momentarily, a shaky breath echoing through the silence, “keep walking forward.”

Roman pressed onwards, following the sound of Patton’s frightened voice. Suddenly, his knee struck a soft surface and he stumbled, collapsing onto the moral side’s bed. Patton gasped at the sudden movement and the prince struggled to right himself.

“Hey Padre, can I touch you?” He asked softly. After a moment, the frightened side gave a noise of assent. Roman slowly reached out and brushed his fingers against his companion’s arm. The uncontrollable trembling of the man next to him struck concern into his very core. Patton quickly flung himself into Roman’s arms, tears streaming down his face and soaking the prince’s clothes. Roman knew that Patton could not stay in this room at this particular moment and, gathering the shaking man into his arms, sunk the two of them out of the darkness.

Sunshine struck his eyes, creating patches of brilliant light that danced across his vision. Blinking against the sudden brightness, he looked around at their new surroundings within his realm. Rolling hills covered in lush grass stretched as far as the eye could see. Patches of stunning flowers dotted the hillsides with splashes of bright red and pale blue. The sun was directly overhead, unmoving in the neverending sky. The gentle breeze rustling through the grass was the only sound.

It was beautiful.

“Patton? Do you want to talk about what happened?” Roman interrupted the near-silence, his voice low as he continued to cradle the other man in his arms.

“It was so dark Roman. I couldn’t-I couldn’t see anything and…and…I hated it so much Roman I was so scared! I could feel a presence in the dark but no matter what I did…I couldn’t see them and I’m still so scared.” The moral side sobbed, his breath coming in short, quick gasps. The prince remained silent, slowly running his hand up and down Patton’s back while they sat in the grass. After a long moment of comfortable silence, during which Patton’s breathing began to even out, Roman spoke.

“Patton, you’re safe. I promise you. You’re safe here because here, the sun never sets. You never have to be in the dark again. Not if I have anything to say about it.”
