We haven’t and we don’t really plan to (since Yana Toboso didn’t work on them outside of some tidbits that we’re interested in, such as character’s younger versions design). But the artists for the manga did such a good job, that we really appreciate the art of it whenever we see someone posts it. The Tweels and Azul specifically look amazing.

LOVE Mean girls and the musical version is also great, HOWEVER! As someone who simps for both Vil and Regina, I don’t really think they’re similar. Vil has way too much dignity to do the “awww I love it how cute (I hate it it’s ugly)” thing, he’s usually just brutally honest lol And Regina is one messy bitch. Ironically, I feel like Azul fits the role better, despite not necessarily being a queen bee… I can definitely see Vil and Neige playing the roles of Regina and Cady though, it would be interesting. Araki knows how to write female characters? I barely see him and Oda in mentions of their female characters in manga discourses when it comes to good female characters.

Hi anon, haha sorry for my lack of energy.

Warning: Long text SA mentions, little spoilers from Jojolion.

Uh that's a good one, honestly both Oda and Araki fall into the same issue about it but when they cook, they cook (or at least is what I have noticed from Oda, since I'm in 305 chapter of One Piece, so I can't tell you how much he fails or gets better).

Let's start with Araki, In general, there are never mentions of Jojo in the tops or compilations of good aspects of some Mangas, better protagonists, best character designs, etc. Because still people refuse to see Jojos in any serious way (okay, Jojo isn't 100% serious, it's bizarre) and others refuse to watch it because of its art style.

That said, Araki fails miserably with female character during part 1-4.

He fails but not in the bad way like only uses their female characters for fanservice, but as useless or from background or encourage male protagonists.

Erina and Lisa Lisa are maybe the exceptions, but again fails, Araki was clear that Erina was Jonathan's love interest and at the same time played with the dynamics, giving Speedwagon the role that in theory should have been Erina since that role was given to the women who were the girlfriends of the protagonist, he already did Gorgeous Irene as a protagonist and fighter, why didn't he gave Erina more role if he wanted to change the roles in his story? Because he wasn't that great at times, same with Lisa Lisa, looks like an attempt to have a strong character with more than a role than just a lover, but fails miserably at the end, giving Joseph all the attention instead of a fight between both Lisa Lisa and Joseph vs Kars, sucks because he gave more of that chance towards a N@zi 💀. I'm not even going to elaborate on part 3 bc it's too obvious.

Part 4, even tho has more female characters, none of them has relevance. Yukako was totally wasted, like her only role was to be a simp for Koichi, she didn't help at all. Reimi just was like a storyteller to give context towards the protagonists rather than useful character, of course even her own trauma is just there, same with Tomoko and Shinobu. Basically all pawns to fulfill or help the male characters.

Now, being a little fair, Araki fucked off the same with male characters, specially in part 4 and 5, but come on, even the Hazamada guy had more screen time than Tomoko and Araki just left her there to be completely in love with Joseph and for what? 😭 That sucks and it's sad.

In part 7 and 8, we actually have more good side characters, but again most of them wasted, literally Jojolion has more female characters than in stone ocean and yet Yasuho is the only one with importance.

Now the fanservice, what can I say? At this point is impossible to escape from it, only Metal alchemist and Attack on titan didn't and is oh so wonderful🥰, also Araki didn't with Jolyne so I'll take that as an apology from what he did to other female characters, lol.

And finally with that issues about SA scenes and mentions, the thing is that with Lucy, Trish or Dragona (probably they aren't a she, tho but let's count them.) seems more like a thing that happens a lot due to the context, specially with Lucy. Like real life issues that Araki has show up with other characters.

My problem is with Yasuho, like okay, she is vulnerable as every other woman, but some of the contexts she wents through are more implied in a funny context and it's something I dislike a lot, like that time Joshu almost rapes her, the touches that Tsurugi gives to her are so icky (I know he is a kid, but that doesn't make it any less creepy, Emporio was also a kid and didn't do that weird shit to Jolyne).

That's my only complain, uh I can see why ppl gets annoyed or disgusted with Lucy or Dragona SA situations and I understand it, but also saying that they have to gain some kind of lesson or something good from it is pathetic as if SA situations are only for that when in real life you only get trauma, not some kind of development. Perhaps, if there should be a Pov about their feelings and fears, how is going through SA and how affects the characters and their mechanisms to protect themselves, but okay I can ask for much in a Shonen manga when fights and powers are more relevant ig:/

As I said when Araki wants, he can cook a good female character like Jolyne, Lucy, Yasuho, Kaato, Trish and Mitsuba. This doesn't mean that other minors female characters are bad, just wasted. The only I mentioned some of them doesn't have great impact but with the role they get they make it work.

Now with Oda, his issue is about the way he draws female character, lots of fanservice and the anime doesn't help. At least Araki gives more different looks on his characters, Oda doesn't, lol. Must of them have the same face as Nami, and again due to the fanservice and how long One piece is, ppl don't take it seriously, another issue is that even though there's incredible powerful females, they're never enough as good as the males, even the only female character that was better than Zoro died 😭. Now that I think about it, Araki hasn't give this powerful stands to his female characters, not as powerful as GER or C-moon type.

Returning with the one piece, as far as I can see Oda actually writes good female characters! Nami and Robin are simply incredible, and as far as I know big mom is also a wonderful and good well character.

For me, Nami and Jolyne are one of the most stronger female characters in the Manga and media, next to Maki from Jujutsu no kaisen and Korra from avatar.

Characters:

Itadori Yuuji

I like to quote this post by @/lets-curse-each-other a like the starter explanation to why Yuuji is an absolute masterpiece as a character and also the best boi. This post not only shows the peak of the iceberg that is Yuuji's personality but it only hints who much attention Gege gives to his characterisation.

I also love Yuuji because he's written in quite a unique way for a protagonist of a shounen manga, ie. more like a shoujo manga protagonist, and I wrote more about that here. His character journey is absolutely stunning, at every point his teenage beliefs that he developed to deal with his loneliness and the loss he has suffered, get questioned, rhetorically and generally attacked. He constantly needs to deal with his worldview and coping mechanisms being shuttered. And he still manages to be caring, to retain so much of himself.

And lastly I like his character design, it works really well both when he's really cute and when he's taken to his limits.

Kenjaku

They are the absolute fucking worst. They are an amazing plotter, like on a reread it's absolutely stunning how well their plans are prepared, how we see them perfect said plans. I have massive, massive respect for Kenjaku as a villain. They are such a manipulative lair. During my first reread I started compiling a file with all their scenes where I wrote whether I thought that they were lying in that scene and how because my ADHD wouldn't let me sleep, I kept thinking about them.

I love their mad scientist vibes, it's so sad no one wants to listen to them explaining their evil plans, and no one wants to nerd out with them about cursed energy (I'm looking here at you Tengen and Sukuna). Though to be fair, they kill the person who'd've likely been the most into such nerdy conversations, namely Yuki.

Of course it matters to me that they're Yuuji's mum. That makes their character even more juicy and horrible. Their whole twisted connection to motherhood is chefs kiss.

Nobara and Hana

I'm putting them both here together, despite them never meeting in the manga, because for me they both embody the awkwardness of being a teenage girl just on the opposite sides of the spectrum. There is a lot of societal stigma put onto teenage girls. Starting from how they should be.

Nobara is trying to define womanhood for herself while also clearly not being versed in issues of modern feminism. it feels very fitting for a girl her age. Some of the things she likes that are appropriate for girls from the society's point of view and some that are not so much, so she lands at girlboss feminism.

I also love that her reason for joining the Tokyo school is very much not jujutsu oriented. She's not there because of the politics of the clans like some many other students, or because it was join or die.

I hope that Nobara returns, though I'd be also okay with Gege just letting me grieve her at this point.

Hana is trying to orient herself through a crush she has on a guy who saved her life long ago. A guy she doesn't really know but she has created an image of in her head, it's a purely parasocial relationship so many teen girls have. Now I think Hana will be on her journey to reorient herself, build her self image outside of Megumi.

I low key hope that Yuuji will pop Angel's soul out of Hana and set her free, Hana not Angel, that 1000yo selfish sorcerer should join her ilk in the dumpster of history where they are all hopefully headed.

Yorozu

She's a rabid Sukuna simp so like mega relatable ;) But more seriously I love her powers, how much thought she put into them. She's an amazing jujutsu nerd, another friend Kenjaku could've had if they put her in a different body, one Sukuna wouldn't want to kill.

I love her creepy wedding plans but most of all I love that she's pursuing Sukuna for status. The things she wants of him are so appropriate for a Heian woman to want. It's a really cool bit. And she has the classic het relationship energy of "I can fix him". That's why you don't indulge in heterosexuality, kids.

I wish she actually joined the villain cast and remained there longer, she had amazing energy.

Sukuna

Another jujutsu nerd, but he's like embarrassed of it or something because he pretends he's not one. He's very above that nerd shit but also that's how he is the strongest and how he wins fights. He's amazingly not self aware. It's the same with his being so detached when he's very clearly capable of having really healthy relationships with others like he has with Uraume. He just chooses not to. He does have a bit of an edgy teen vibe which is funny in a 1000yo guy. Maybe that's why he's so irked by Yuuji. ;)

I absolutely love how he fights. He puts on a feral demeanor but underneath he's full on analysis and calculation.

He also makes the second best faces in the manga second only to Yuuji.

And his original form is very scrumptious, very thirst-inducing.

Ok aight ok aight I've caught up with Witch Hat Atelier so time to spill out my jumbled throughts past midnight before I pass out:

Art: 10 outta FUCKING 10. Like come on, you've seen the panels, it's just amazing. Character- and costume-designs, creature designs, environments, panelling - everything is top tier. Easily one of the most beautifully drawn manga out there. My only real criticism is that the characters veer a little too much into twink territory, but surprisingly enough there still is some decent variety among side- and background characters.

Characters: mmhhhh 7/10? I'm not blown away, especially by the child protagonists. Agott did grow on me over time but Coco as well as the two other apprentice girlies really aren't doing it for me tbh. The adults def are better, and yes I have become an Olruggio simp (we stan the resting-bitch faced male-wife with a secret soft spot for kids), it has predictably come to pass. Rn I'm still waiting on a proper Orufrey flashback and in general for Qifrey to be fleshed out a bit better. Like yeah we all know he sus as hell but I wanna know what his goddamn deal is.

Story: currently 8/10 with potential in either direction. There is a LOT of stuff being set up and ngl I am a bit worried that not all of it will be adequately addressed. I have been burned by similarly ambitious stories of this overall genre before (experiencing TPN flashbacks) so I am definitely wary.

Worldbuilding: 9/10. Honestly almost perfect! I absolutely love the themes being set up here with the completely arbitrary separation of people into witches and non-witches, the monopolization of power for the supposed purpose of the greater good, the question of how far humanity should be allowed to go in the pursuit of knowledge and progress... there really is some amazing stuff being laid out here. All this is not even to mention how great the magic system is, though sometimes I find it a bit hard to suspend my disbelief at some of the supposedly 'novel' inventions (like you're telling me that nobody before Coco thought of making a water-purifying jug?? And that people would not IMMEDIATELY want to have this kind of thing in their homes unless there's the added flourish of the water making pretty shapes?? Bruh)

Final verdict: I'd overall give the manga a final score of like 8/10 - very solid set-up so far but still too early to judge whether it will actually stick the landing. I'm def gonna keep following along and holding out hope

Hahahahah Such an interesting topic! haha least fav first and then our faves 🤣 ok.. let's see: "Tsunderes"... it depends if they are annoying because sometimes there are Tsunderes that are charming and adorable with a spicy feisty side... those I enjoy, but the ones that only scream and act rude or mean for no reason... I pass. The "pinning", I enjoy it when there is real tension and life actually, either pulls them apart or together (not the random unrealistic "coincidences", I like it if it is believable or one of the characters needs to fully develop before confessing (I need to see them accepting themselves before accepting the love of others) if pinning is well done the ending is well deserved in the long run. The "starts off as a bicth" Yeah I don't like it, I DO enjoy good enemies to lovers because both have very distinct goals or morals but then understand the other's point of view. But if the character is just a bitch for being one without further character development... I don't like that.

In my case I don't have "least fav tropes" but I see these types of content/story/character... I'm closing the page right then and there: Power abuse, gaslighting, mental health being treated as an "accessory" (not depicted as seriously and delicately as it should be dealt), I don't hate it but it is not my fav the "love at first sight" ... I need to see and feel the foundation of a relationship before realizing it is love. and my biggest turn of is if the characters are super annoying or super ..what I call "empty pretty and annoying" Im sorry they could be the prettiest in the universe but if they don't have a personality and are annoying... is a big NO.

PRO-BAKUGOU STANS DNI

I fucking hate him. No joke, like I've made "not Bakugou safe zone" posts before but I am going to say it. I hate Bakugou Katsuki.

And I am sick and tired of the "oh, anti's are stuck on chap 1 and ignore his character development" or "oh the anti hasn't read the manga so they don't understand his character"

I'VE READ THE MANGA, I'VE WATCHED THE ANIME, HELL YOU WANT TO KNOW FUN FUCKING FACT? I used to be a b*kudeku shipper and was a big Bakugou fan, when kik was still very popular I was in a b*kudeku group chat, I defended Bakugou's actions. I was the a Bakugou pro. I loved Bakugou, then Bakugou vs deku 2 happened and that didn't sit right with me, then Bakugou, todoroki and deku training under endeavor Happened, suddenly I looked at Bakugou and thought "fuck he's insufferable"

I looked at his character and think, how can I like someone who was so much like my abuser? How could I defend a character who told someone to KYS with no remorse (CUZ BAKUGOU DIDN'T FEEL SORRY FOR THAT. HE NEVER APOLOGIZED FOR THAT AND I WILL LOSE MY SHIT IF SOMEONE TRIES TO TELL ME HE DID). How can I ship Bakugou with izuku, how could i ship Bakugou with anyone?? My love turned to burning hate.

I don't want Bakugou to die, despite the jokes I make. I just don't want him to achieve his dream. He doesn't deserve it, not until his abuse comes to light, not until he actually showed he changed. Bakugou doesn't deserve the praise he gets. Not by a long shot.

Well that was my rant. Sorry for going off I'm just sick of the pros trying to invalidate my hatred for Bakugou. Like shit a couple hundred anti's Isn't going to hurt your Precious meow meow's popularity. The Bakugou simps outweigh any fucking hate he gets. Spinneraki

Oh man. Here we go.

I said I was going to be brutally honest and some of y'all should have known it might end up with me saying stuff you don't like lol. I'm putting a cut to be respectful and not subject anybody to see anything they don't want to.

Okay so--I get the appeal for why people ship it. I do. Spinner clearly cares about Shigaraki, they both like video games which provides lots of potential for fics and all that, they've been through a lot of hard times together in canon....but here's my opinion on it:

It is one of the most one-sided ships in the entire fanbase....?

I mean yeah, Spinner is always keeping a close watch on Shigaraki and trying to make sure he's okay (even though he is absolutely unintentionally making things worse). But I don't really see the sentiment returned on Shigaraki's end, like, ever. I mean it's a canon fact that Shigaraki cares about all of the LOV, but Spinner isn't given special treatment or anything.

And to go along with that, this ship is treated by a lot of the fandom as if it is whole heartedly, undeniably canon. Which baffles me, because a lot of serious metas get written through this lens. And I mean, do what you want. But if I'm trying to analyze the meaning behind a story and make real predictions and stuff, I wouldn't want to be doing it through shipping goggles (Spinneraki is not the only ship whose fanbase does this btw).

And honestly this wouldn't bother me normally, because I don't care about ships in general, but some of the hardcore, die-hard fans of this ship go out of their way to reduce Spinner's entire character to some simp who can't possibly have an arc outside of obsessing over Shigaraki and his dream of destruction, and can't possibly grow into his own type of person that doesn't just borrow other peoples' dreams for his own.

I actually legitimately like Spinner as a character, and I think he deserves better than how some of the Spinneraki ship fanbase treats him if I'm being brutally fucking honest.

Like with a lot of BNHA ships, I get the appeal. But I do NOT get how it has been passed off as legitimately canon by so many people, and how it's resulted in reducing a pretty damn compelling character down to a simp who isn't good for anything other than, well, being a simp. Especially when the sentiment is literally not returned at any point to the same degree. That's not to say Shigaraki doesn't care, because he obviously does and we all KNOW that. But for the reaction this ship gets, I'm honestly surprised considering that the only panels taken from the manga are panels of Spinner acting on his "feelings" while Shigaraki is just, not. Lol.

So, this is one of those ships that honestly flew under the radar for me until the fanbase started getting big and I started seeing Spinner being treated not-so-kindly by the fandom.

Episode 4 of Komi Can't Communicate (Review)

This just goes to show how toxic simping can get. So, I love Komi Can't Communicate and would even go so far as to call it a "masterpiece" from its beautiful animation; likable characters with some depths; its wholesomeness, etc. But episode 4 is something else. Somehow we went from wholesome humor to DDLC in terms of disturb factor.

The first segment of the episode was good just being about Yadano's daily attempts to beat her "archrival" Komi with the latter having no idea that she was even in a challenge. Yadano's probably my favorite side character due to her over-the-top competitive drive.

The second half...oh boy. So, we have Tadano basically talking about how he was friends with the most beautiful girl in the school...and then, oh shit, he gets jumped. I legitimately thought that he probably died at that moment.

Yamai Ren...sigh...this character. While I still love the show and admire it for its take on social anxiety and offers some ways on how to deal with it, Yamai is the one thing that almost keeps the show from being a "masterpiece" in my eyes. How my thought process was when watching the episode.

During episode: Oh, she has a crush on Komi? Oh, puppy love, that's cute.

Few minutes into the episode: She...she's really obsessive. Alright, well...Wait, is she licking Komi's strand of hair? I feel like I'm going to be sick...The show has such good animation! Why'd they have to visualize that...?

Middle of the episode: She kidnapped Tadano. Are those pictures of herself and Komi all over the room? Oh...oh no.

I am serious; I was legitimately concerned for Komi in this episode. That if it was within her power, Yamai would pull some Silence of the Lambs shit on Komi and have her in a hole for a few days before making a skin suit from her and dancing in it. Someone get Keanu Reeves and Dominic Toretto to keep her under watch.

So, yes, Yamai freakin' kidnapped Tadano if there was ever any more reason to believe that Yamai is insane.

Just...Yamai. I am legitimately terrified of her. Never since Shion Sonozaki from Higurashi had I had these feelings of unease. If you were to tell me that she was an escaped mental patient who jabbed a plastic fork into one of her handlers' arms, I would believe you.

So, she gets to spend a lot of time with her beloved Komi, having "conversations" with her...completely ignorant that Komi never spoke once, and asked her if she wanted to come over for hamburgers. After a cute moment of Komi imagining Tadano was there to give her support, she appears to agree...which leads to Yamai overreacting. Najimi suggests that they go to Yamai's house, and the yandere has a "perverted image of Komi lying in her bed." But before she can make that happen, she had to get rid of Tadano.

And then the episode becomes even darker with Yamai asking Tadano whether he liked the sea or the mountains. Okay, so she doesn't gut him and wears his skin to get closer to Komi, but this girl is so beyond messed up, that if you rewrote the scenes, you can make a genuine creepypasta based on it. She not only kidnapped the Chadano, but she was going to dispose of him too.

Najimi and Komi arrive and Yamai goes to make some tea telling them to not open the closet door. To which Najimi, being the MVP they are, opening it anyway, but misunderstood it as being some kind of foreplay. Yamai arrives with two sharpened chopsticks (a knife in the manga) and brutally vivisects him by calling him an average piece of shit among other sharp criticisms.

She intimidates Komi with the chopsticks, but the Queen simply shakes her head and unties Tadano. Yamai tries to keep her from leaving by claiming that she did all of this for Komi's sake, but she could fuck off with that claim because she does not know Komi as much as she thought she did. Without even having to verbally chew her out, Komi writes on some paper and says she would decide her own friends for herself.

The worst part about this abominable character is the fact that she is not punished for her actions because she did commit two legitimate crimes: kidnapping and attempted murder. So she gets depressed over Komi rejecting her. Is that it? Not being friends with Komi is a greater punishment than being tossed into jail or whatsoever the law found appropriate? Not being friends is enough to make Yamai realize she had been a terrible character? Okay.

But it does lead to some more great scenes with Komi and Tadano: Komi, having remembered everything from yesterday down to the letter, asks Tadano if he truly wanted to remain friends with her due to the events fearing that more could happen to Tadano that she may be unable to stop. Tadano rejects the notion and reaffirms their friendship by quoting what she said yesterday.

Komi, while I understand you want friends, please maybe consider putting a restraining order on this girl because what makes you think she doesn't do anything that drastic again? But, of course, she does forgive Yamai and makes her a part of her entourage.

Looking into the manga, Yamai only gets worse the more she appeared with one instance happening sometime after the school became aware of Tadano and Komi dating. She overreacts to the fact that she was not holding hands with her Goddess and skips a week of school. She vents her frustrations to her clique of friends, only to throw them the hell out when she got a message from Komi that she was coming over to talk. Worse, she spots some Sleepy Sleepy Time pills and contemplates putting them into Komi's cup of tea. God only knows what she intended to do with Komi once she was unconscious.

I understand that she is supposed to be an intentionally hateable character with few redeeming traits, but there is a certain craft when it comes to making unlikeable characters that I feel Yamai fails at. Like the drug thing was the tipping point with how far they were willing to make her as hated as she is now. It was not funny in the least and only cements that Yamai exists to be that annoying perv of a character even when she does have some decent moments where she can be charitable when it has nothing to do with the center of her obsession.

Really, it is because of her presence in the episode that I didn't see virtually anything in it that was funny aside from Najimi freaking out about being alone with Komi since they could not translate whatever Komi was trying to say. Yamai's face turning into a kabuki mask for a moment was also slightly humorous.

While the episode is not my favorite, at the least, there are some good moments. It progresses Komi's development as a character by her putting her foot down to basically give a "fuck you" to Yamai for her attempts at trying to control who she was friends with. And really, if anything, this furthers her bond with Tadano because Tadano insists on remaining her friends regardless of what that would entail. So...in a way, Yamai helped strengthen their relationship. Which is something that she would not want to accept.

On a lesser note, I do recommend reading the dark fic "The Sea or the Mountains" by andreabandrea: https://archiveofourown.org/works/15217121. It takes a more serious look where Tadano is diagnosed with PTSD from his encounter with Yamai to the point of practically becoming sick whenever he was around her, and Yamai receives a more prompt punishment than in the episode along with additionally expanding on her character.

I remember a while ago about a post that said something about that. I don't remember the specifics but I think it mentioned how both Kaeya and the Fatui Harbingers share a light streak of hair. I don't know if Signora has one or if it's specific to the male Harbingers but Scaramouche has one of the back of his hair [around his neck].

I wonder if you can tell I'm answering this ask at 6am haha. My brainworms are buzzing around in my head. Okay, let me stretch my fingers out. Get out the markers and continue my "this doesn't make any sense but I'm pretending this is canon lore" whiteboard theory.

There's no way this comes true so let's pretend this is an AU. Instead of Abyss Prince Kaeya, what if we have Fatui Harbinger Kaeya? In Liyue, they had Childe. In Inazuma, they have Scaramouche. While yes, you can technically argue Dottore/Signora is a part of Mondstadt, they don't really stay for very long. We don't know what exactly Scaramouche is doing but he did say he was an Inazuma envoy [I think, I don't remember]. There isn't technically a Fatui Harbinger stationed there so what if Kaeya is secretly a Fatui Harbinger? After getting basically disowned by Diluc and receiving his cryo vision. He was approached by the Fatui to join their ranks.

This is just an excuse to say wow, the Harbingers seem to have really specific and flashy clothing. I wonder who else I know dresses the same?

I also just want to mention that apparently initiation into the Harbingers is to dye your hair lol.

We can go even further and say that Kaeya is a double agent for Mondstadt as well. I highly doubt Diluc wouldn't be aware that Kaeya was a part of the Fatui, but if he was a double agent, then Diluc might not rat him out. Possibly. Or we can pretend Diluc is an idiot and never finds out.

Or even better, Mondstadt puts too much faith into Kaeya that even if Diluc does tell someone, no one would believe him. This is literally an excuse for me to expose my inner Kaeya simp and how in the manga, when he played the bad guy and stabbed a child? Yeah, let's bring that Kaeya back. I want him to drop the flirty but still somewhat nice nature and go full "I'm an arrogant piece of shit and there's nothing you can really do about it because no one would believe you" attitude.

Honestly, I've completely side-tracked myself at this point but I'm ready to commit to an entire dark reverse au right now. Give me cynical Kaeya with playboy Diluc. Rip to Diona tho lol. I just want Diluc and Kaeya to be shitty people together ok?? Or hey, we don't even need to change their personalities that much, just take their morality compass and chuck it out the window.

Okay okay. Look at me. Kaeya is still the abyss prince but instead of being adopted into Diluc's family, he gets picked up by the Fatui. Instead of growing up with Diluc, he grows up with Childe instead [@cattycattitude is feeding my inner Kaeya x Childe simp, it's a valid ship ok??]. While he still retains his flirty personality that we see in Mondstadt Kaeya, he's a lot crueller and uses insults as compliments. While Mondstadt Kaeya is a "the ends justify the means". Dark Kaeya's thought process is "if someone isn't dead by the end of this, I'm doing something wrong". Meanwhile, with Diluc, his dad is still dead but he doesn't suffer the betrayal that Kaeya gave him. Thus he never goes on that soul searching journey and becomes this really hot-headed but really friendly guy. He's still pretty aloof but approachable since he doesn't have a reason to not trust people.

Even going to Liyue characters and Zhongli?? Who is Guizhong? We don't know her, she doesn't exist in this AU or she died super early. Zhongli remains as Morax and never adopts his human persona, thus never really learns about empathy or humanity. He's borderline a dictator and doesn't see himself ever in the wrong, he's helping his people. Whether they want him to or not, and why wouldn't they? He's their archon so that's enough reason for him to do what he wants. He's not specifically cruel or wants to harm his people, this is just the only way he knows how to do it.

Also, Childe never falls into the Abyss. Do what you want with that information.

Fuck it honestly, we might as well just combine everything. I'm ready to drop dark reverse au Kaeya meeting Mondstadt Kaeya. I think they would hate each other haha.

Villain-Stella Jang: He knows damn well he's a villain, that's his goal after all, but what if someone took his point of view? wouldn't the villains be all of those who hurted him in the first place? ("We all pretend to be the heroes on the good side, but what if we are the villains on the other")

Violent-carolesdaughter: This is how I view an argument inside a relationship with Niragi. He's used to violence, to cause fear, and getting what he wants, so being in a healthy relationship would require a lot of patience and strenght. While he's getting better and suppressing those violent actions, there will be times where he accidentally uses violence or threatens the other person unintentionally, mostly hurting himself and his partner psychologically. Kokoronashi-majiko: I'm pretty sure Niragi isn't able to see himself as someone able to love, even if he doesn't want to be alone (just like when he confesses this feeling while fighting with Chishiya and Arisu). If someone truly loved him and was willing to not letting him go, it would hurt. He can't see himself as someone who can love or be loved, so he can't accept the love he's seeking for in case that turns him "weaker" making his true self confront with the protective mean personality he's created. He could learn how to accept it, so he might want the other person to stay in the end, but it wouldn't be easy for him to accept it ("It's awful, I'd rather you destroy my body, tear it to sheds, do as you please" "No matter how much I'm loved by you, my heart is just one" "I don't know this, don't leave me alone")

The pearl is the feeling of power, the one he has to remember when feeling weak just to feel something. At the end of the song it changes to ("Sorry I can't take your touch"), realizing that he wants love, but he's not able to take it or else he'll become the Niragi from the past

Problematic-Bo Burnham: Him acknowledging his problematic actions but not wanting to apologize because he doesn't feel the need to. He knows he's done bad things but he is going to laugh at it and be a sarcastic mf about it

First Love/Late Spring-Mitski: Similar to Kokoronashi, he wouldn't be able to accept love and how it makes him feel. He would think that he prefers for everyone to hate him and be lonely instead of sacrificing his tougher side. Post-leak mania, fine, but now? Seriously? What kind of fucking manga are you guys reading? Y'all have THAT LITTLE faith in Horikoshi?? After literal years of joking about how much of a simp they are, years of meta and anyalysis about Bakugou and the tropes he contributes to, access to every and any Shounen series ever like???

Aizawa cut off his own fucking leg. Miruko lost an arm AND a leg. Midoriya broke all of his bones so many fucking times AND used one million (or some thousand) percent of his power.

It's not even about 'curarting your own experience' anymore, because everyone is doing it. You didn't post about it yesterday? Well, it's being posted about today. Haven't talked about leaks in months? Talking about leaks now. Don't like angstposting? Angstposting.

I want to follow Bakugou-centric (or just Bakugou enjoying) blogs in general because I like his character. I want to interact with people who like and care about him, but god fucking seriously?

Go pick up AoT where Erin LITERALLY DIES in episode, like, three or something. Bleach where Ichigo spent three days in a hole trying not to become a Hollow and failing. Naruto where Sasuke got stabbed a bunch of times by literal shards of glass. (And those are JUST the early game deaths)

"Overcoming death" is literally just a popular Shounen trope- and that's not even counting 'gets maimed horribly and beyone compare, but comes out scott free' like??? People have literally been OVER THE MOON about the fact that Midoriya!!! Has scars!!! Because Shounen is so notoriously awful at showcasing the results of Heroes' mistakes. Even then, the series still uses the same 'ohohoho they are dying horribly!!1' trope all the time.

Not only are y'all not reading any other series, but, hell, you're not even reading THIS series. Like I followed people for their deep and insightful takes, for their understanding of the characters at hand... Where did all that go?

'Save to Win, Win to Save'? One of the biggest themes Gone.

'Society creates Villains just as it creates Heroes'? Still there, I guess, but Bakugou's addition to that narrative was huge- a supposedly "villainous" kid rejecting villainy?

'You're worth more than your power'? Bakugou is one of the only people who saw Midoriya's worth BEFORE he got his power. He's also one of the only people (save Aizawa) who has acknowledged and pointed out Midoriya's recklessness and his self sacrificing tendencies.

'Heroes need to work together'? Bakugou is still one of the only people that Midoriya has actually fought side by side with other than the Stain Arc. Bakugou was the person who said "Don't go playing Hero on your own." (He's also one of the biggest showcases (bleh) in how Hero Society fails at teamwork- every time he has

Is it really a coincidence that his biggest win was a 'complete victory' that came from him working with his team? Him pushing Jirou out of the way during the 1A/1B showdown? How everyone pointed out his growth, and how he inspired the rest of the class?

During the Provisional License Exam he and Todoroki both failed (because they let their emotions get in the way of their Heroism), but remember what Aizawa said? About how Midoriya and Bakugou inspire the rest of the class to do better?

Especially now with the parallel to the Second User- WHY would they be using foreshadowing and parallels if he's gonna die? What the fuck would be the purpose??

Hi dear! I've seen you didn't talk much about Sadistic Beauty these days... What are your thoughts on ending and two side stories? Especially Wookying and Minho's one? Tbh I'm disappointed and disturbed :(

i had to step out of this story bc it was leaving me frustrated, irritated and disappointed not to mention very confused LOL. yep, im still fairly disappointed with where the author went with this. a major conflict that should or could have been in the main story was the whole drama including wookyung fighting with doona to get minho but it was swept under the rug only to return as some after thought as a side story (probably excluding doona).  there was such a great opportunity to finish it in the main story but the author decided that minho had to suffer all of the consequences and everyone else is going scot-free LOL. truly a shame. i wasnt surprised that doona was ending up with haesol, never was into them, still not into them. i have a certain distaste for characters like haesol, he’d be best described as a simp. and i absolutely loathe simps lol. there’s a fine line with being there for someone and being there in hopes that smth more might change, he def wants to date doona and saying that he’s okay with how things are and if they don’t date, is basically a blatant lie to himself. if that was the case, he wouldn’t let her string him along and use him for sex. the feelings he has for her will just be kept in the back, but it will most likely resurface in some way or another. in the long run, it’d hurt him and that’s just not worth the hassle. obv since the writer wanted them to happen, he’s prob gonna get what he wants lol. i def found the whole rivalry btw donna and wookyung in order to get to minho way more fascinating, and wished it was explored more. now, the only thing im happy with is gyerin is probably getting her happy ending with the new girl. she’s also the only one who went “fuck this” once she saw doona wasn’t going to reciprocate her feelings, and im rlly glad she did that. at first, i didnt think much of her, but now, seeing how the story went (lmao), im all for gyerin being happy. and as for wookyung and minho, im interested in how their story will unfold. but i feel so so bad for minho, he was a jerk and an asshole i wont deny that, but he didnt deserve all of the hate and harm he got and still is receiving according to the side story preview. wookyung is still a great and fascinating character, i do like characters like him, but how he was used was just not satisfying. and it seems like there might be a case of stockholm syndrome coming up where he might fall for wookyung. i just wish doona had smth to do with it before she parted ways or she could have helped minho, but yeah. *shrugs* this story left me confused as to what the author is doing, there is wasted potential and opportunities at every corner. the plot goes one way then goes another to end on a weird note. i also think the whole gl, bl stuff was more of a fanservice thing and that’s probably why it’s more of a disjointed story? as in, i feel like the gl and bl stuff should either have been more of a focus and woven into the story or it should have been entirely separate so the author wouldn’t have to shove many things at once and just focus on one or two pairing. one thing i might add for the story is that it felt as if it was trying to make us surprised, but the so called “twists” that happened just made it more confusing and those probably shouldn’t have been there as they don’t add much to the story narrative. back to gyerin, you can see that gyerin and the new girl can have their own separate story from the start (she didn’t have much to do with the primary conflict and could easily have a flashback to doona instead of the whole fanservice lol). the same goes for wookyung and minho as well, and it’d have been perfectly fine. at the end you basically see three pairings, the m/f, the f/f and the m/m. however, we dont even know if minho is into men? so i’m not sure how’s that gonna be considered BL? then again, every pairing could have been in the main story, but it’s not? for some reason??? it feels as if the author wanted their pairings without putting in the effort of making it into the main story, hence the side stories or they just wanted to make it separated without putting too many characters in it. obviously, for wookyung and minho, there’s no way doona wouldn’t have done smth if it was fully explored in the main story, and it might have changed the ending too. there’s multiple ways the story could have gone, but this one was the only conflict that was much more interesting imo, but it wasnt used that much.

gyerin didn’t really have much to do there other than be lesbian fanservice for doona (and the audience, writer and maybe the artist too?), and to be some kind of support for haesol. that’s about it, so i can understand why she’d not have a full blown romance in the main story, but seeing that she keeps reappearing, she still could have her side story integrated into it. lmao i don’t even kno if doona is bi/pan lol or if she just had sex bc she was drunk then did it just for pleasure without being interested in women at all.

EDIT: iirc doona did get aroused seeing gyerin uh doing stuff, so it could be possible that she is interested in women, but maybe only sexually? although i still could be wrong lol and it could just have been a moment of “I’m straight, but horny and u’ll do for now”. she could be in the closet too, who knows.

overall, sadistic beauty had some interesting conflict, some good characters (ill never like haesol lol), good art and the storytelling by this artist is well paced, but the execution and where the story went leaves a sour taste in my mouth. would i recommend this story? absolutely not. it is so frustrating, and for what? i wish i had saved myself this headache from the very start but the art and the fact that doona was a dom was what reeled me in. i only came back to it to see if the writer redeemed their story in some ways, but... well... you saw how that went.  i would follow the artist if i could, their art is beautiful. however, i cannot say the same for the writer. from my exp, it seems that many webtoons have good art, but the writing definitely leaves way more room for improvement. that said, i do hope ppl will learn that in order to make a great comic/webtoon/manga and so on, it is not only about pretty drawings. the story and writing should be up to par with the art. if not, it should be at least close to it. because the art might attract people, but if the story doesn’t resonate, if it doesn’t make much sense, then ppl are bound to leave and drop it. and what is a story, but pretty pictures and nothing substantial in it? nothing, but superficial beauty.
