modern au hakoda is 100% a climate activist of some kind - very likely working in climate science of some kind

oooh yes I definitely see hakoda and kya both being scientists (honestly in canon I think hakoda would also be a scientist or engineer if not for the war, much like sokka) and climatology makes perfect sense. I always saw hakoda specifically as being one of those engineer dads who is always building weird little contraptions around the house (with the enthusiastic help of his son, or the slightly more reluctant help of his daughter), but kya being a climatologist and activist is so fucking real actually. she instilled a strong sense of justice and empathy in her children, and katara especially is determined to follow in her footsteps and do everything in her power to fight for a better world.

i keep thinking i rly didnt go thru that much growing up, but idk, everytime i tell someone abt my life, they say i did and kinda just like sit in shock abt it. am i just internet brained or smth, or am i just dramatic?? i rly dont think ive earned a lot of the symtoms of someone who was traumatized that i have. or maybe i havent been in a safe place for long enough to process things??? i dunno. maybe someday far away in the future ill figure things out
