I find it soooo fucking funny when people say HLVRAI is only sillies with absolutely no angst, it's JUST jokes and there has NEVER been ANY angst, and then they get mad at people for writing angst because it's a "funny gmod series."

probably my favorite thing about the gang™ is that (minus brett) they're not the cliche 'oh we'll always stick with you, bff's forever, with friendship we can do anything!!’ group you usually see in animation. they ditch reagan the second a shitty situation comes up. they'll turn on each other at the drop of a dime. sure, they like eachother to an extent. and yeah, they always come back to each other in the end, but most of the time it's just because there's no better option. i don't know what i was getting at with this, but i think it's that i like how the only thing that makes the gang™ friends as a whole is that they have been through so many screwed experiences that it'd be weird to just be work acquaintances.

Once I started but was interrupted half way through #And like… Nothing reminds me how much I'm here only for two characters as much as watching an entire episode without them. I know intimately how it feels to put your moral code and abstract ideals before your own happiness.#So Kunikida's character only makes me feel miserable more often than not #I'm sorry for being so negative I usually try to use this blog specifically - more than my main - as a place to be positive and enthusiast–#and keep negativity low but this time I'm failing (´；ω；｀)#I apologize #I like Aya as a character but I don't really enjoy her role in this episode specifically. There's a lot of tiny things that just bug me.#Literally the best things of the episode for me were the couple of Atsushi frames.#The fleeting and definitely not there daz/atsu in Atsushi always bringing up Dazai.#Atsushi and Akutagawa and ss/kk in the op/ed.#And Dazai messing up with Kunikida was funny I suppose pffttt.#Oh well. Pretty sure I had my sexual awakening at 6 years old watching Secret of the Sword, very specifically the scene where He-Man is deprived of all of his power, trapped in a glass box suffering, while Skeletor stands revelling in He-Man's pain and helplessness, laughing and mocking maniacally; She-Ra eventually comes along and rescues He-Man when he can't even really stand, and he helplessly leans on her as she lifts him from the power-draining glass box/cage*

And yesterday, I went, oh my fucking god, it's the Tommy and Mosley and Lizzie dynamic.

#some things never change #*i have written about this formative experience years ago on LJ somewhat repeatedly #i Could Not Watch This Scene in my household of 10; I'd sneak-watch ready to hit 'stop' the second anyone walked in writhing with shame #My sister affectionately reminds me at least three times a year how much I Loved That Movie as a child but even she doesn't know #I've never sought it out again and never will #the memory of what it did to me is far more interesting than the likely source material #tell you what if someone decides to make a seriously well designed aesthetically stunning magical realism live action remake though...
