i played rune factory 4 on the 3ds back in highschool and idk i just really loved the name clorica for some reason, so then i invented "clora" from it, to make it sound like more of a real name (but still maintaining that fantasy ish aspect) and apparently clora actually IS a real name BAHAH so i guess i succeeded?? and ever since then ive always used the name clora in any fantasy-ish RPGS, so i have a whole multiverse of cloras out there LOL. but THANK YOUUU im glad you think its as pretty as i do!!🥰 (even if it does kinda sound like chlorine LMAO which honestly ALSO sounds like it could be a pretty name... if only it wasnt already a word😩)

while i was away the other week, i picked up a potential trim for my lady Stede dress, and i wanted to talk a bit more about it with you guys and see what you think !! (you can skip to the end for an opinion poll if you dont wanna read all the background spiel!!! tldr: do we like what i picked?)

so, Stede's costume is not particularly historically accurate, but the use of trim between mens & womens fashion is completely different anyway, so im not too worried about trying to find something that matches 100%. i mostly want something that brings the same effect to the garment, particularly in the colour. i went and found some high def images, so you can sort of see the structure of the trim.

The colour is somewhat hard to pin down, but i tend to see it as a sort of antique gold colour? it looks to me like tarnished metal (but i would love to hear about your opinions on the colour!)

The trim is much more subtle on the style of dress im making- most of the decoration is created through pleated stripes in the same fabric as the dress, with the decorative element lining the edges (and occasionally running down the centre). looking at extant examples, ive seen many different shapes of trim, though most of it seems to be looped cord or "fly fringe" - loose filament tied into little puffs or flowers (its super cute but hard to get a hold of and i dont think i care enough to make it)

im not quite sure how im trimming this garment yet- i dont want to commit to anything until ive played around with what looks good on the actual dress, but i know i want to do at least some of this pleated design on there, so these styles are what i went out with in mind.

(ok, context established, onto my specific picks!) i really struggled to find trims i felt would work for this project- i wanted gold, but everything i was finding was too bright and shiny and not at all what i was going for. I ended up picking two things in the same dark gold colour that felt a bit more worn in, but definitely needed work to get the shapes i was looking for- one i think ill dismantle entirely and use the cord to make something new, if i end up using these.

the other was much closer to the kind of thing i wanted, but still needs work. it had two lines of loops and my plan is to remove one of the lines to create something more like the looping of the historic trims. ive pinned one line out of the way in the pictures below to give you a bit of a better idea of what i want, but please know this was a 5 minute edit, and the final result may be different!! (i also want to add that i dont think ill leave the border edge as wide, either- i want the trim to be a hint, not overwhelming)

i think my pick was absolutely the best option out of the ones i saw... only now im looking at it with my fabric, im not sure. it was the best kind of gold colour they had, but i feel like stedes is even darker and cooler in colour, almost a brown-grey tone. (honestly, this one is pretty brown when you look close, but what matters is the bigger picture, so :/ ) it feels to shiny and sparkly, and like it might stand out in the wrong kind of way.

i want this dress to feel like a genuine historical garment first and foremost, id rather it look cohesive and intentional than be accurate to the show and im doubting myself with this trim- but also i know it was by far the best option that i saw when i was actually looking at hundreds of gold trims... so, what do you think?

uisama says when she first heard that with×meets would give people the chance to have their name and comment being read out by their oshi she thought it was wonderful, and that if she werent a cast member herself she'd write in chat too lmao

hiichan says before she joined she commented as a fan and was read out by fujishima megumi-senpai in her solo streams twice 😌

chuke talks about how the with×meets are related to the story, and uisama talks about how she had to practise saying "kaho-san" again before with×meets after they had recorded episode 15 since it hadnt been released yet

they move on to talking about units. but before that, ooishi-san asks the other host, asada-san, who her oshi unit or member is, and she says oosawa rurino-chan/ruri-chan from mirakura park! ooishi-san is the same! ooishi-san because he likes blondes and genki girls and asada-san because of episode 17

they ask chuke to introduce cerise bouquet and she calls uisama and hiichan "hanamiya-san" and "sakurai-san" which was scary

ceribou's charm according to chuke is their classic idol style with their traditional outfits with obi and according to hiichan its their compatible voices

uisama is a KAHO OSHI. at first she didnt have an oshi, but she talks enthusiastically about how fun high school would have been if she had had kaho pulling her forward

ooishi-san therefore asks her what she thinks of kaho's seiyuu, nirei-san. uisama says she's so cute and she loves her! and nonchan is truly the Real kaho, so she loves her for that

she also has a story she wants to tell about her! (protests from chuke) cerise bouquet have lessons as a unit, and catering gave them melon pan, which is nonchan's absolute favourite. she took one bite of it before dropping it, and was wailing about the tragedy which made uisama think how cute that was but also how cute it is she expresses her feelings so honestly

chuke's ceribou oshi song is aoku haruka which was ceribou's new start at the beginning of 104. hiichan also gives her thoughts on it as ginko's first song

after they listen to aoku haruka (in full! how luxurious!) ooishi-san says it gives off the feeling of having been made with a guitar. he really praises the song and points out the strings arrangement

chuke describes dollchestra as the cool unit with stunning performances. for her oshi song of theirs she chooses ladybug because of the sharp movements of the three in the choreography. the others like to copy the ladybug wing move when in the stage wings!

uisama talks about how this song was written by murano sayaka-san, and actually, before recording, she heard sayaka's seiyuu, nassuchan, humming it, and she thought it was really good, and it feels like a new dollchestra with the addition of kachimachi kosuzu-chan's colour. ooishi-san says that makes it really feel like sayaka made it

hiichan mentions some lyrics that she likes that make her love this song too

ooishi-san calls sayaka amazing as soon as the song ends. she made such a good song

chuke describes mirakura park as one that loves fun and the full power unit. also, megumi-chan and rurino-chan are childhood friends, and hime-chan loves megururi!

ooishi-san says sakurai-san and nirei-san's oshi are in this unit. hiichan's oshi is the first year, anyouji hime-chan, because as someone who loves idols herself, she really relates. hime-chan also looks out for the people around her, such as her own character, ginko

ooishi-san asks what hiichan thinks of hime's seiyuu, kurusu rin-san. hiichan talks about how rinchan messaged her to check up on her when she seemed like she had a bad day. at first she thought she was reliable and serious, but now she knows she's more of a free spirit, giving that example of her pestering fuuchan and by the time fuuchan reacts she's disappeared (ooishi-san praises fuuchan's kindness)

chuke's oshi is fujishima megumi-chan! she talks about how she's similar to kaho, and how she taught kaho about fun things and cuteness during the unit shuffle, and over time she's become cuter and cute to her

ooishi-san asks what chuke thinks of megumi's seiyuu, tsukine kona-san, and like hiichan with rinchan, chuke calls konachi a free spirit. well, that's what mirakura park is like

she feels like a cat, and when she's high energy she likes pestering people like rinchan, but suddenly she'll lose that energy and go off to sleep on kanchan or rinchan's lap

chuke's oshi song is miracreation. its a song from the nadeshiko sai, hasunosora's june cultural festival, when mirakura park became closer and they took their first step forward together

as soon as miracreation ends ooishi-san says "ruri-chan's so cute" and imitates one of her lines. he says that mirapa songs are like denpa and dollche are cool, which contrast against ceribou's classic approach which in turn makes ceribou stand out too

next they each talk about the charms of hasunosora moving in real time. uisama says that since nobody knows the future ahead, its not too late to start now!

uisama chooses dream believers as the representative song of this idea, as the main hasunosora traditional song that every member sings, that the new first years sang last april at their opening live. she says ginko had a very determined look in her eye back then. hiichan says it was both her and ginko's first fes×live and she had the nerves of both of them

ooishi-san points out that the "lalala" part at the end of dream believers is almost meant to be sung along to, as if it were a school song, and shouts out the iconic love live lyricist, hata aki-san

hiichan chooses 365 days for this prompt, talking about how its split into year groups, with each having different perspectives on the future ahead

chuke chooses link to the future, explaining it was written for the 103 hokuriku tournament and the circumstances of that december, and that it was then used for the 104 qualifiers and the story about the first years having to catch up to their senpai. she also points out its not a hasunosora full group song, but a medley song by the three units

ooishi-san points out the different Sound of each unit in this song, with dollche's rock sound and slap bass and mirapa's 8bit noises

the hosts mention the buzz on social media recently before they have chuke explain they recreated love live at hasu 3rd! and tomorrow, theyll be holding the love live series' first ever playoffs! ooishi-san jokes they should be practising if theyre tomorrow! (this was prerecorded)

hiichan talks about the complete surprise appearance of katsuragi izumi's seiyuu, shindou amane-chan, which could only be done in hasunosora

uisama says she loves the love live series, and so she was so happy to have been able to stand on the stage of love live itself. ooishi-san calls her a love live otaku lol

they each talk about how theyre feeling before the playoffs, with hiichan determined to make ginko's dream come true

uisama almost cries talking about kozue's childhood dream of winning ever since seeing the school idols she loved that has since become the dream of the nine of them, but nevertheless she has remembered to treasure this moment and although she still wants to win, she wants to win with these nine that she loves, and she will do her best because of kozue's feelings

chuke says she will do her best so kaho can have fun and make everyone's feelings bloom

the next corner is about the charms of hasunosora real lives

uisama talks about how at the start of bloom the smile bloom the dream, they make a bud together with their arms, but the black of their mics kind of ruins it, so nonaka kokona-chan tried her best to hide it at practice which she found really cute. also, kan kanna-san (the seiyuu of the hosts' oshi!) is really tall, so nonaka kokona-chan had to go up on her tiptoes to match her~

they ask uisama about nassu and she says she's wonderful. she's the youngest of the nine of them, but she watches over and worries about them all, and she really respects her

nassu hasnt stopped trying to hide her mic?? uisama says she still practises it by herself but she's not sure she knows that she knows about that. she wants her to know she can give it up...

chuke's story is about tsubasa la liberté in hasu 2nd. she loves the outfits for this song as theyre a bit more mature, and she feels a bit more elegant wearing them, and she has her hair in a low bun. anyway, she's in the back, but yuugiri tsuzuri's seiyuu, kotoko-chan, looks so beautiful from that position

ooishi-san asks hiichan what she thinks of sasaki kotoko-san, and she says that she welcomed the first years kindly, and during hasu 2nd she went to check on how they were feeling while they were backstage

hiichan's story is about 104 suisai sekai at hasu 3rd with cerise bouquet. hiichan's always loved cerise bouquet and this song, and performing it with her two senpai beside her was very memorable

uisama explains suisai sekai was a song kozue wrote after meeting kaho, but she's very happy that passing it down to ginko means it will become a traditional song

ooishi-san seems a bit surprised kozue wrote suisai sekai after hearing it lol

the next corner is their own love live oshi songs!

the song chuke chose is from love live superstar, liella-san's start true dreams. (as she's said before) she danced to this during her audition for hasunosora. in fact, before hasunosora, she auditioned for liella gen2 but didn't pass, so when she heard about the hasunosora auditions she definitely wanted to get one! the "your dreams won't be stopped" phrasing in this song really helped her

ooishi-san asks what the charm of love live superstar is. uisama says she too auditioned for liella-san. for gen1, gen2, and then her third audition was for hasunosora. when she didn't pass she didn't want to watch superstar at first, but she truly loves love live so she did, and she loved it too. she related to kanon failing to get into the yuigaoka music course

hiichan's song is from the third love live series, nijigasaki gakuen school idol doukoukai, neo sky neo map. actually, the three of them as cerise bouquet were given the opportunity to cover this song. when she listened to it and read the lyrics as ginko, she felt that thrill and feeling of wanting to do what you love, even though theyre from different schools. when yuu-chan played it on the piano in s2e3 she thought "you can shine too!"

ooishi-san asks what the charm of nijigasaki is. uisama says she listened to setsuna-chan's songs to study for hasunosora's cool songs and kasumin's to study for cute songs

chuke says she listened to ayumu-chan's to study "blooming"

finally, the song uisama chose is from the original love live, a song by the μ's second years, start:dash. the reason she chose this song was that she had done classical ballet ever since she was a child, and when she met μ's-san and love live in middle school, it was this song she encountered first. it was the first song outside of ballet she sung and danced to, and because she could only do ballet, she started doing jazz and began wanting to become a seiyuu

also, the day the hasunosora cast first met, she chose to listen to this song while going to the studio, because if its a "beginning" it has to be start:dash. but then, it turned out her partner, nonchan, was also listening to that same song!

chuke says she was panicking wondering what to do when a beautiful onee-san came up to her, but when she found out they were both listening to the same song she realised they could do this!
