you may have seen my previous theory on wtf is going on with john doe malevolent, but i have more proof this time to show for my hypothesis!

in episode one, we first hear someone turning on a radio, presumably in a car, listening to “You call it madness (but I call it love)” by Russ Columbo (not the 1946 version by nat king cole trio we all put in playlists lol), then arthur gain consciousness

afterwards, they are in bookstore when a radio starts playing the song again, the entity doesn’t see the radio, but he does recognise the song

both arthur and the entity recognise this is odd, since atp the entity had only been in arthur’s body for 20 odd minutes

but, if you’re caught up, you’ll recognise that this is moment directly parallels a scene in part 33

this, however is not the only time something like this happens. in part 5, john uses a turn of phrase

this moment is soon after arthur’s month-long coma, so unless lily had been reading robert frost to arthur (which john would’ve most certainly mentioned when arthur brought it up), he shouldnt have any way of knowing this sentence. 

the first time we hear the poem in full is in part 26

but even still, in the context of the moment, why does john know this poem? he’s had no moment since he came back to learn anything of the sort, even ignoring the time it’d take to memorise something like this.

before this, there are only two instances of 'miles to go before i sleep' appearing, once at the end of part 17 and just before arthur leaps of the edge in part 23

so now, my answer to all these questions is a bit weird.

in part 1, the entity says as follows regarding time in other worlds and the dark world as being timeless

which initially led me to reach the idea that john's forgetfulness in part 33 has to do with the time he spent away from arthur in s3, which he claims he does not remember.

i think he was actually sent back to the dark world and spent an indefinite time there, since there is none, causing him to forget finer details. but that raises leaves many questions unanswered, like why did the entity know the song before ever being with arthur?

i think it's time fuckery. the entity we see in part one could be some sort of future!john, at some point he could be sent back to the dark world indefinitely once more, than brought back via the book at a different moment in time that from which he left, the past.

this theory makes a lot of leaps, but it also gives reason to why john already knows call it madness and miles to go, i believe he might use both of these as some sort of anchor to not go mad himself in the dark world, thought he does end up losing parts of himself and of arthur. still, he isnt completely gone, which is why he's eventually capable of becoming john again

it also kind of explains the first sentence the entity ever says in the show

of course, on your first listen you assume he means what happened to arthur a few moments prior, but with the context of a timeloop, he could be referring to the whole shows events, even what we havent seen

later, when john says he doesn't remember who he is either, and arthur says

i understand that the entity knowing what he is might help them both, but it's still a weird thing to say. arthur has just woken up with a corpse and voice in his head, and acts like it's not his first time doing this? i'm not saying he'd remember, but it would make more sense if he was partially amnesiac to the future/past loops like the entity/john

also, i think it's important to distinguish the entity and john, the former being an amnesiac john who has only the potential to become john, but could just as easily become yellow.

last point is, obviously, also a massive stretch.

in part 9, after their first consequential argument (as in it nearly gets them imprisoned), arthur tells this fable to john

which yeah, could be foreshadowing john being the king in yellow in the s1 finale, but. it wouldn't make much sense since john doesn't permanently get him and arthur killed?

i think it goes like this, if it lines up with my theory.

john starts forgetting about the dark world, starts getting dicier and riskier with his and arthur's choices, whether it be about his deal with kayne or other future lies, but he pushes and he keeps pushing until both he and arthur meet their end. at some point, he gets himself sent back to the dark world and arthur killed/otherwise indefinitely unavailable, and as he does, he says "it is in my nature", so the last thing he tell arthur isnt sorry, but an excuse. perhaps they end on bad terms, after all he's promised to not let him drown.

he is left there to rot in his misery with only faint memories of his new self (significant moments, like him telling arthur the poem) and after he starts forgetting, a long time for a place with no time, he is pulled into the book in the past, eventually reaching arthur again. he might recognise arthur's voice, but he might not remember enough at this point, having turned back into the entity, no longer being john.

but hey. this is based on my relisten of s1 and little else. i love stretching the canon to make it make sense lmao

Lol how do i explain this chain of events...

there's no way i can make it brief xD So..today i was in an odd mood, feeling so sensitive that any time someone talked to me i almost flinch from how overwhelming it is. And a certain heaviness. sunday is slimbo's only day off tho so i wanted to hang out. We decided to draw, and as we were finishing setting up i suddenly remembered my stereo & how i havent used it all winter. i grabbed it from my room n put it on slimbo's bedroom floor , i was sitting next to it as we focused on drawing for a few hours n listened to CDs.

then as we were about to eat dinner slimbo suggested we watch sopranos. i was reluctant due to my mood today, and ok hear me out: Something about sopranos has like, consistently felt really psychic to me, cus i dont watch it that often but every time i do it's like. that episode will be freakishly synchronized w something happening in my life at that moment. usually in a metaphorical way. Could just be power of suggestion but ive never rly had that with a show before except for a few animes.

ANYWAYS..i agreed to watch it because i felt it to be fateful that slimbo suggested it. like Ok what message is this supposed to send me today, might as well see since i'm already in this strange mood. We sat on the ground where i was drawing and started watching. and ofc, (spoiler warning,) ofc the last ep we watched was the one where junior shoots tony, so this episode is the one where tony's dying in hospital (and having his prolonged dream sequence). Which, if you know me, you maybe know about my Core Wound, but if you dont, well, it definitely involves hospitals and death and fathers. So i'm just sitting there watching like LMAO 🙂 Ok Guess this is what's on tonight's agenda Let's Gooooo 🙂

and i can see slimbo keeps looking at me with an expression like "we can turn it off" but i was like nah im going to watch this im curious now. (i havent seen season 6 of sopranos in 6 years and its the season i have the least memory of because when i watched it i was high as fuck on opiates due to getting my appendix removed (awful experience) so it kinda feels like my first time seeing it). i keep watching and THEN. THE WEIRDEST SHIT OF MY LIFE OCCURED

the fucking scene. Where carmela's in the hospital room with tony and she receives a stereo from chris. she takes it out of the box and i'm like wait....it's only showing the back of it at first, but it looks so familiar, i look over to my right where my stereo is coincidentally sitting on the floor next to me with the back facing me. it's the same. then i see her open the cd slot. ITS THE EXACT SAME FUCKING STEREO SAME color SAME model SAME Everything !!!! and the part that freaked me out most is that my stereo is always just sitting on top of my tv i almost never move it even when i use it but at that moment it just happened to be sitting there on the floor RIGHT FUCKING NEXT TO ME !!!

idk. it gave me kind of an adrenaline rush. it freaked me out. like that is bizarre i dont know. especially with the context of the stereo in the show and how it's there in the hospital to play music for tony as he's basically dying. hospital scenes r always like, intense for me on a cellular level. but that just kinda blew my mind. i got this stereo from a thrift store 2 years ago i had no idea it was in the show lol. IDK. i feel like there's a message here. something to do with my dad and healing and music. See im telling you like.....sopranos makes me consistently feel that God is joking around w me, its ususlly just a feeling but today it was tangible. so.... o_o

Even if the huntlow shippers are right and every frame where they stand next to each other and every bit of crew art was part of some complex metanarrative hinting at how theyre totally in love and how the crew was being suppressed by disney from overtly developing a m/f couple for some reason. That. Still isnt a good way to write a ship? You straight up cannot build up a good romance only from longing glances or whatever if we never actually see them talking to each other. Especially since hunter and willow are both main characters.

Like even if you take the things theyve said AT each other after the flyer derby episode (which was the last time they actually had a conversation btw) and twist it into flirting i still have to ask...why would they flirt with each other? We havent seen them talk about anything important AT ALL since the first time they met so what kind of bond are they supposed to have with each other? Beyond just friends/teammates? Hell we never even see them just be friends onscreen without their other friends there except for i guess the haircut scene. Even as friends willow and hunter are not each others most important friendships. Id even argue theyre both closer to literally every other member of the hexsquad than each other.

Ppl freak out over flirty scenes or longing glances from other ships because theres actual substance behind the ships. The funny flirting and the frames where they maybe stand next to each other are supposed to enhance an already existing relationship. Where the characters actually talk to each other about important stuff and find comfort in each others company or whatever. If its meant to be a background easter egg or the characters arent important to the story or its just for audience speculation its fine if it doesnt have that. But huntlow shippers think these two major characters will actually start dating and have their romance be an important part of the story. And idk how to tell them that building a relationship out of longing glances with nothing to hold it together is uhhhhhhh bad! It would not be well written! Yes a ship doesnt HAVE to be complicated and yes huntlow doesnt HAVE to be exactly like lumity or raeda but if theres no equivalent scenes for me to get emotionally invested in their potetial romance then like. What are we even doing here! Just because you CAN write a totally shallow ship where they never talk but sometimes look at each other doesnt mean that kind of writing wouldnt suck shit!

Exactly. Even if this was something Dana intended and planned out from the start for these two characters (which if she had, why hasn't their relationship developed more than speaking once or twice on screen for more than a few words?), it's not good writing. It's not a well-written relationship. Just because it's a boy and a girl doesn't mean it's automatically a fulfilling and intriguing relationship, or important to the plot. We genuinely, really haven't seen them have a full, important, or one on one conversation since ASIAS so it fucking baffles me how people are so convinced they're in love and "already canon". Because, yeah, longing glances (from only one party in the ship at that) don't mean fuck all. They can easily be read as embarrassment or admiration or nervousness rather than a crush or inherently romantic. Like. Do they think Willow showing any type of interest in something Hunter is clearly passionate about romance? Because if so she must also be in love with Gus, Luz, Amity, and Vee. And vice versa, anyone that shows interest in Hunter's interest must also be in love with him. Which obviously is ridiculous and doesn't track.

They rarely interact in the latest episode, too. Willow has more development with Amity and Vee than with Hunter, and like you said, is clearly depicted as being much closer friends with Gus, Amity, and Vee with Hunter kind of being slightly outcasted in the friend group (not maliciously or anything, obviously, but it's pretty clear). We obviously have the haircut scene and implications that they've all hung out together in the time that they've been in the human realm, but they're only shown one one one ONCE in the montage of all things. And that scene is entirely happenstance, not a planned or intentional hangout. Willow walks in on him cutting his hair and helps him, they weren't intending to spend time one on one- Willow was just being a good friend and stepping in because she happened to be there. Both Hunter and Willow are closer to every other person in their friend group than each other.

They barely have any interaction, there's hardly any actual canon content for their "relationship", and we only have two episodes left as both characters actively grow closer to their other friends. There's nothing there to get invested in, like you said, other than fan content where the characters' personalities are totally changed. Sorry hunt/lows but your ship is sinking and you're all ankle deep in the water singing and shouting about how canon your ship is as they actively do not even speak to each other.

I wanna get into tmnt but I've got like no knowledge of it at all. where should I start?

interesting question! no tmnt iteration is like another, but each is enjoyable without the context of the rest (although its really fun to notice little callbacks and references between them), so id say theres no wrong place to start. for the most part!

if i had to pick one, id probably recommend starting with the 2003 animated series. it was my introduction to the franchise! so maybe im a little biased gkjdfg to me, and probably to a lot of tmnt fans of my age, its THE tmnt. its quite plot heavy and focuses more on the action and the story than the humor (but theyve still got jokes! in case thats important to you). can get REALLY dark for a 4kids show, but its not excessive in heavy content id say. this series is probably the MOST faithful to the original comic, which is why i think its a good one to get your basics together.

i feel like after this, the order in which you watch any other tmnt media doesnt really matter. id also like to say a few words about some of the more popular ones, in case theyre more your cup of tea. under the cut!

1987 animated series (the first one!) - a completely different vibe altogether. probably more immediately associated with the classic turtles by the general public, although i personally havent seen it. its a very lighthearted saturday-morning cartoon that focuses heavily on the humor aspect, although there is plot development as well. VERY long.

the original comic published by mirage studios - PERSONALLY AND HIGHLY SUBJECTIVELY i wouldnt recommend starting with this one, but it IS the original tmnt, so if youre the kind of person who likes getting into franchises chronologically, well it doesnt get any older than that. i havent read it myself (save for the first 2 chapters), but its quite different from the mainstream image of the turtles, so it might not be the best place to start for a casual fan, but definitely worth reading if you get really into the franchise. afaik it was originally a parody of classic superhero comocs and it can get really dark, something to keep in mind

honorary mentions! but not great to start with in my opinion!

idw continuity - i highly recommend reading this!!! probably better after having watched 2003 and other more classic tmnt media!!! the origins, everything, is completely different from the start, but its just. a good comic i think! a lot of physical violence, very action packed and can get REALLY heavy in case thats not your cup of tea. but also found family :-) this summary is all over the place bc i like it so much dkfjngd oh yeah and its still ongoing! tho it might take a while to catch up (if you do decide to read it im begging you please follow the official chronology please dont skip any of the side arcs and whatnot theyre all crucial to the story!!! the first 100 issues as well as all mini series that came out in that time period are compiled into 13 volumes of the idw collection. very convenient!)

2012 animated series - i dislike this one but its. interesting to study. definitely wouldnt recommend starting with this one tho if you can help it. i also just cant recommend it in general but im currently running on -2 hours of sleep so if you want a more detailed rundown, thats gonna have to wait till tomorrow

rise of the tmnt - a great show on its own but probably a bad place to start getting into tmnt because it turns the classics completely on its head and watching it first will probably make the other feel iterations very confusing and even wrong. it still follows the 4 turtles, april and splinter, but most other characters are unique to this show, and most classic tmnt characters only get 1-2 episode cameos

there are more tmnt media out there, but these are the biggest ones + i dont really know much about the rest so

Alrighty...I guess Im doing a thing XD

so uh Ive been addicted to Welcome Home since the beginning of the year...and Im normally the type of fan that just wanders around and give my silent support....but seeing all the Welcome Home AUs Ive got inspired to make my own...

....I havent made any art for it yet but Ive got lots of notes so Im just going to dump it all here so Ive got it written down some where lol...keep reading on if you like or just keep drifting doesn't matter much to me...tho I hope you enjoy my info dumping :D

OK so to start I dont have a proper name for this AU yet..the working title is Creepy Media AU for the moment but Im always open to suggestions! Now onto the actual info :P

So the main thing thats different right off the bat is that instead of aimed at kids and being educational, this Welcome Home is aimed mostly for adults, young adults and maybe older teenagers but certainly not for kids [tho this doesn't stop parents from letting their kids watch it -_-]

The show leans into some heavy themes though horror seems to be its main theme with the goal of unsettling the viewers with reminders of advice given as kids. It started airing in 1949 and has had two hiatuses since then, one around 1957 lasting a year and the second one being 1970 lasting only a week.

Since their first hiatus in 1957 their broadcasting company has been changed but no information on the company is available anywhere, not even the location of the broadcast could be found. The show had also went from being a mainly English broadcasted show to a multilingual one, being shown in whatever language was used most in the country the show was played in.

The Welcome Home! show was known for its lovable and eccentric cast of characters but also for its odd scheduling and bumpers. It played throughout the day and late into the night with the only skips being the 1-2 hour long bumpers. Depending on the time the viewer watched the show you'd get a different variant of the show. For example...

2 - 5am = horrifying visuals, sounds and a generally haunted feeling, odd creatures were mostly noted along with a few...noteworthy changes to the seemingly friendly neighborhood. [has caused many deaths tho these were wrote off as natural causes]

5 - 7am = the first of three bumpers. the mildest of them, its a bit weird and surreal as if you took way too many psychedelics at one time. Viewers might think they hear something in their home but don't pay much attention. [anyone whose seen this bumper can't remember what they saw]

7am - 9pm = the usual tv show that most people have seen, with episodes ranging from light-hearted adventures to horror/slasher plot lines. Nothing out of the ordinary here besides the odd detail or two being oddly colored or misplaced. [nothing noteworthy here besides the characters sometimes going a bit off script]

9 - 10pm = second bumper. a bit more intense than the first but again not the worst. Massive drug feel to everything as if you are on the way to having a very bad trip. Everything begins to bleed together and become oddly colored while seeing the characters head inside their homes. Wally's house become the focus with a sudden wide shot of the neighborhood. [has traumatized kids and caused many to faint once the bumper is done, an odd eye mark showing up on the nap of the neck barely noticeable]

10pm - 1am = the once happy and inviting neighborhood becomes very much unwelcoming, becoming an odd liminal space of sorts with distorted voices drifting in and out repeatedly. The camera is fixed on Home with things moving at the edges but that's all [has driven people to insanity and paranoia]

1 - 2am = the last bumper...very intense and the feeling of being watched comes to the forefront and quickly becomes overwhelming the mark given on the second bumper burns intensely. [while somewhere faint chanting can be heard]

A big coincident that acured during its run in the 60s seemed to plague the show. A cult had revealed themselves to the masses though the name has been seemingly lost to time. At the same time quite a few people [between 12 and 33] began to go missing with no traces as to what happened or where they may have gone. The only key thing tying them all together was that Welcome Home! was on in their residence. The case had gone cold after a few years but many speculate that the show and the cult has something to do with it.

god yeah. like, a whole bunch of them. like, a majority probably. my #1 song was dead stars drive in, which is the willard/mikołaj song. my #3 was the way home (my a-team/ace song) and #4 was power of love (emmy, obviously). some david songs got pretty high up there too.

I'm a bit lazy on watching shows (litterally took me like a year to finish an anime i watched) but I tend to get them finished if im hooked upon them + I tend to watch at night. I've only watched 4 so far (1 out of the 4 i havent completed yet) I've seen sweet home already and it was amazing, but it made me cry. (Sweet home was my 2nd kdrama) I've also started all of us are dead and IM LOVING IT, i rlly need to finish it as i havent resumed it in like a month, im on episode 8 currently ! I have business proposal, alice in borderland in my list on netflix and i plan to watch squid game at some point, ill look at the others as well! I've also watched extracurricular, though I thought it was okay there's just one character I really dispised that ruined it for me (almost dropped it but decided to finish it bc of the 2 characters I rlly liked in the series) I do have a reccomendation though! I really reccomend strangers from hell, although it was removed from netflix in may (which im upset about as it was my first and is currently my favorite kdrama) its a horror/psychological thriller but its really good!! Though have you heard all of us are dead is getting a season 2?? but not just all of us are dead... Sweet Home has been confirmed for not just a season 2, but a season 3 as well!! I think I'm the same to be honest! Unless something has me hooked I'll watch it slowly and only on occasion! I've watched a few Anime's and the only ones I watch over and over again are "Sailor Moon", "The way of the househusband" and "My Hero Academia" I loved them alooootttt!

before i start, i'd like to note that this list is only taking into consideration cards that are available on the global server as of april 28, 2022 buuuuut already including Secrets of the Tomb event that only releases tomorrow cuz kjbkHBH IVE ALREADY SEEN LUKE’S CARD STORY THERE AND IT’S GOT A PLACE ON THIS LIST CUZ I RLLY LOVE IT!! this list also only ranks cards with stories because thats what im basing my rank on, so that disqualifies all the SR cards that are only audio messages and the MR card as well

with that outta the way, let's go from 5th most fave one by one to my most favorite of all cards thus far!!

5th place: SSR Alluring Gaze

this was among the first luke cards i ever watched and i was reeling from the sheer angst in luke's personal story 1 and 2. please, i said to this card. please be a lighthearted yet entertaining chaser for my angst drowned heart.

"you are safe now, my child," said SSR Alluring Gaze.

"thank you for my life," i replied

cuz this card is one of the VERY FEW LUKE STORY CARDS that does not have an HINT of sadness or angst. NOT A DROP!!! no sudden pain episode, no vague reference to "im dying soon and i hate myself for that", NADA!! im not saying that i dont like angst (if that was true, i'd have made a terrible choice having luke as my fave JHVSDFHKV) or that angst makes for a bad story. i Love Angst and it deffo can used for great storytelling.

but this card manages without it in a really fun and charming and eeEEeEEeee-butterflies-in-my-heart kind of way.

later on, i'd come to realize that my biggest criticism for some luke cards is that theres a tendency for the story to rely solely on the gut punch angst or to be oversaturated in it to the point it's hard to really enjoy what's actually going on. while the emotional ouchies are inevitable and also key to many of luke's stories, it's a disservice to him as a character to only ever be pursuing his narrative through the lens of pain. he is more than that and his stories can benefit from little less leaning on angst for emotional impact.

this card is 5th place because i think it's proof that his stories can shine real great even without any angst at all

4th place: SSR Shape Of You

if the last card made it onto this list because it was a lighthearted delight, this card is on the list because it was the first luke card to make me CRY REAL TEARS. FUCK THIS GAME. FUCK THIS CARD. FUCK MY LIIIIIFFEEEE----//sounds of my voice getting softer and softer until i calm down

anyway, this card hurt me personally. but it wasnt oversaturated in angst; it's a very lovely balance of shenanigans, mounting tension, and heartfelt emotion. overall, it's a hopeful card actually. but it hurt me because it was among my first (and most long lasting) peek into the core of who i see luke to be. particularly, one of his key desires and the flaw that comes with it:

hes someone so devoted to doing good for his loved ones and simultaneously so scared of hurting them that he places himself at a lower value because thats how he thinks he can be a benefit to their lives

like, ok, i amend my first sentence in this card. it's not on this list cuz it made me cry. it's on this list cuz that crying was due to me getting a deeper understanding of how luke thinks, feels, and acts.

if i had to recommend one card to somebody who knows nothing about tot or luke pearce, itd be this one. its story is a blend of the good in him and the not-so-good in him and paints a really clear picture of who luke is.

3rd place: SSR Overflowing Thoughts

hey, SSR Overflowing Thoughts, see how im hyping you up the night before u actually r gonna be available? do u see how much i love you? ur gonna repay me by coming home without causing me much pain, right? RIGHT???? //brbs to calm self once more

ANYHOO, this card. is Good. it's really frigging good. i will be scant with the plot details so people dont get spoiled, but i will tell you that this card's story is an AU completely different from the actual stories of both luke and mc.

and when i say different, i REALLY MEAN IT. luke and mc's dynamics in this card are frigging lightyears away from what we're used to and this is not to the story's detriment, it's to the story's extreme absolute strength.

basically, this story does what a great AU is best at: showing us how different circumstances, lives, and choices can magnify and emphasize the core traits of the characters that will stay present in who they are no matter what universe they're in.

luke's core is devotion. mc's core is hope. this card does a fantastic job at hammering those things home effectively in a really frigging great story.

2nd place: SR Star in the Palm

let's give it up for the only SR card on this list, Star in the Palm!!! //CROWD CHEERS (i am the crowd)

THIS WAS AN UNEXPECTED FAVE. i got the card in december thru the xmas partyland boardgame like everyone else but then my brain went offline for a while and i only watched it in like, january i think. why did i wait. it's so good. IT'S MY 2ND MOST FAVE CARD STORY!!!

and it's my 2nd fave because the story is a wonderful blend of funtimes and feels, both those things working together to, again, paint a really lovely picture of who luke is.

this card in particular touches upon his fear of returning to mc's life. when i say this next bit, i say it with love: luke was a goddamn coward for a bit. he was in stellis way before he had first told mc he was, he had stalled on reuniting with her, he ran away from her. and he was scared of her knowing that, so he deflects and changes the subject and then

heres why this is 2nd place: mc is Not Fucking Having It. mc shoves chocolate into his lying liar mouth to get him to shut up. this card shows how luke is scared, yes, but it also shows how mc puts her foot down lovingly and makes it known that she'd like clearer answers. she wont force him, but thats what she wants.

and luke gives. both the answers and himself as a more honest person making more honest promises about how he'll act in the future.

it's the card that makes me rediscover (as if i ever forget, kJBSKJBDKF) why i love luke/mc so much: their relationship is ultimately about accepting fears and flaws and then---however imperfect the attempts may be---trying to be better moving forward

this card is my top 1 fave for almost all the reasons ive mentioned before:

we've got well balanced story. like bruh, we get the cuteness of luke and mc ADOPTING A KID (that just so happens to be an elephant). we get 2 npc side characters, the Paige twins, who know luke from the NSB days and theyre the funniest faceless npcs ive ever seen in a card ever. we get the trope of oH NO, THERE WAS ONLY ONE BED! and then luke subsequently fuckin nerfs himself and doesnt take the oppurtunity (valid, respect women, but PLEASE DUDE, COME ON!!). we get the most heartwrenching scene on the planet when luke and mc have to say goodbye to their ELEPHANT SON. and then we fuckin get an action movie shoot out??? complete with the angst consequences?? WE GET MC KABEDON-ING LUKE!!!!!!

//wheezing. everything in this fucking card is my favorite part of this fucking card. theres fluff, theres comedy, theres excitement, theres sadness, theres a happy ending.

this card also is a great card that shows off a lovely picture of character, but here, it's not luke. like dont get me wrong, hes fantastic in this card. but everything we learn about luke here is stuff we know already. this card is good at showing off mc.

and it does this really well. it highlights what shes scared of, what she wants, and what she holds dear to her heart.

like, idk, now im going more on vibes here than anything that can be surmised from the story directly, but this card rlly feels...holistic. heres a full story jam packed with everything i love, filled to the brim with genuine character moments for luke and mc, and just such a lovely picture of their relationship:

filled with idyllic moments and dark uncertainties but at the end of the day, theyre both making their best effort to ensure each other's happiness, as their own happiness is entwined with the joy of the other.

1. I wish Rachel hasn’t used the gods to create the comic but rather turned them into human OCs. The fact that they’re rich, immortal and attractive make the stakes so damn low we don’t even have anything to genuinely fret over narrative wise.

2. WAIT I HAVENT READ LORE OLYMPUS IN A WHILE BUT DID SHE REALLY MAKE APOLLO THE SUN GOD?! STRAIGHT UP IGNORING HELIOS THE ACTUAL SUN GOD?????? How could Rachel say she did research and still choose to incorporate one of the biggest misinformations about Greek Mythos.

Look I don’t want poor Helios to be seen in Lore Olympus style if he hasn’t yet, but that’s such a simple thing to get wrong.

From OP: Both of them are still sun gods, the main issue is that RS also made Leto a sun goddess for some reason.

3. im sorry but the only distinguishing factors between literal gods and humans is that the gods are neon colors and thats it is so dumb?? like what about demi gods? how about exceptional mortals? like how can anyone compare psyche to a goddess then if shes not neon colored? also theres a ton of myths where gods are easily able to blend in with humans without changing anything because they are supposed to look like them, so how can they do that if humans are normal skin tones but the rest are neon?

4. I honestly feel like a big part of why LO is so bad is it's just way, WAY too long. The first few episodes were fast paced and kept you interested, but once it really pocked up on popularity you can see Rachel just started stretching everything out and dragged it back to a snail's pace. I'm all for a slow burn, but that shouldn't for the readers. If it was this long and there were months/years of progress in story I would excuse it, not at most a month in all this time. It's exhausting to read.

5. ok but why do even the humans in lo look so wonky? idk i think her more early abstractions with human forms was really so much better than this more realistic but also more cartoony look, it just doesnt mesh well. sure its technically cleaner looking but it starts to show the many flaws in the art than the previous look didn't. in the early look you could excuse it as coherent stylization, in this current look it just looks like rachel and her team either are very lazy, cant draw, or both.

6. also the disney hercules movie 1) never claims its myth accurate but also 2) its still just a fun movie?? LO in comparison is a self righteous slog that thinks its reinventing the wheel and is more legitimate than the actual texts all while being so wrong its not even"myth fanfic", its just a completely different story with greek names slapped on it for marketing. disney also had the good sense to not make the whole story about a dark topic, meanwhile LO is milking R//PE for a creepy romance.

7. ngl im even surprised rachel would even call hades anything zeus related because she seems so vindictive against anyone who isnt hades/persephone/hera that i would have thought she would make a point to say zeus would rather be be called "light hades" or w/e.

8. Omfg I just realized Hestia and Athena are an incestuous couple. Hestia is Hera's sister and Athena is Hera's and Zeus' daughter. Hestia is literally dating her niece. So the only non-stright couple in LO is incest. I just... how do fail this fucking badly at represenation?

Also, bc I know someone is gonna say it: Yes, incest was pretty much par for the course in Greek mythology, but in LO Rachel seems to actively want to avoid that particular aspect (which is understandable). Zeus and Persephone were orginally biological niece and uncle as well, since Persephone was the daughter of either Zeus or Poseidon and Demeter, but in LO this is retconned into Demeter making Persephone herself without a father being involved, making HxP still sketchy but not blood-related at least.

The Hestia and Athena-situation seems like a comedic mistake RS made. She hastily threw together two same-gender characters to counteract the accusations of homophobia and straightwashing and it just... backfired in the most hilarious possible way.

From OP: Athena and Hestia aren’t technically related in LO but it’s still really odd that Demeter, Hera, and Hestia come from Metis but have no relation at all to her other than she created them. Like, you’d think even Metis’ power would connect them in someway but I guess not. The three even used sisters to refer to each other (although, it was only retconned once and left in the other time) so I still their (Athena and Hestia’s) relationship weird.

9. This isnt just an LO thing but it's ironic Rachel is in that group of WT creators who went to art school and yet have some of the most subpar art i've ever seen, meanwhile the self-taught creators who went to school for medicine, engineering, comms, etc all have some of the most beautiful art i've seen in a webcomic. Anyway LO stans have to stop using the "she went to art school" excuse since it'd pretty clear she's not the only example where art degree =/= good art.

10. ok now im a bit sus about about the LO stats and tbh every other original bc i just saw an original creator say the actual numbers (esp for popular series) are all overinflated by porn and spam bots and webtoons wont get rid of them to make it look like they have more engagement and market them as more successful than they let on💀getting real tumblr will ban boobs but not the n//zi blogs energy from that info ngl

why the live version of eres sucks balls: a rant

well its been a while since i wrote a long lumon centric rant, but i randomly remembered how viscerally angry the version of eres in the live shows makes me, so im here to yell about how much it doesnt make sense and also sucks.

fair warning, although im trying to stay objective, this may get a little bit anti-lutteo/matteo :/ soz about that, i'll try not to be that mean. also i havent watched soy luna in a hot second so i may get a few details wrong

ok so the biggest reason that making eres a love triangle song does not work because it is impossible to remove eres from luna and simón. i mean, its THEIR song. its a song explicitly about how much simón loves luna, there is no way working around it. there is no other way to interpret it. even though other characters sing it on occasion (see: monica and miguel), eres is a song that really only works for simón and luna. which is why after the show nerfs their romantic relationship post-s1, eres, one of the shows most iconic songs, effectively disappears. it gets performed maybe twice during s2 and then its gone. and i think its because eres just . rings hollow if it isnt simón singing it about or to luna. the song in a vacuum is pretty and nice sounding, but the context of it being simóns declaration of how much he adores luna is what makes the song special.

so why do i say this? i mean, its not like simón isnt in the live version, its still his song and hes still singing it to luna! well, yeah thats true, but adding in matteo just completely messes up the dynamic of the song. throughout season 1 of the show, while the show arguably spends an equal amount of time setting up both lutteo and lumón as solid pairings you want to root for, its abundantly clear from the very first episode which couple will be endgame. the show, time and time again, wants you to root for lutteo. matteo is the deuteragonist of soy luna, and this show wants you to love him. this show will apologize for and kiss the ground matteo walks on. the writing has a very clear and palpable bias towards matteo. so what am i trying to get at? well, by forcing matteo into eres, a song ABOUT SIMÓN AND LUNA, it is basically saying to ignore the significance the song has on simón and lunas relationship because MATTEO is here and MATTEO is clearly the better choice for luna! the song isnt about simóns love for luna anymore. its now about two stupid little boys fighting over a girl, which we already get enough of in the show itself.

and the part that gets me the most? the fact that at the end of the song, luna still picks matteo. and i think this makes me the angriest because, within the show itself, they already show us simón being second choice to matteo. now, i am not saying simón is entitled to or owed lunas love. that is stupid. but in the show, we already see simón, who is absolutely and dreadfully in love with luna, slowly start to realize that she is in love with matteo, while he and luna are in a relationship. we have already seen simón lose to matteo multiple times. the show had to get simón fucking kidnapped to make sure he lost to matteo. and we have the live version of eres, the song that is a raw love confession, something that is deeply personal to simón and his arc in s1, get turned into a forced love triangle song in which simón has to once again, see the girl hes in love with pick MATTEO and be forced to deal with it. all while luna and matteo get to sing HIS song, happy in love while he has to suffer. eres is now a lutteo song, because we cant have anything that isnt lutteo for any longer than like 5 seconds. the entire performance feels like a complete slap in the face to simón. like, 'hey you know that extremely personal love confession song you wrote to the person you've been in love with for years? yeah now its a song about her and the guy shes known for like 8 months :)' matteo wins again, yay.

i know the soy luna concerts followed a storyline, and this may take place in a dream sequence and im dumb and Wrong, actually, but watching a performance of it in a vacuum, it really just feels like shitting all over what made the song, idk, special? maybe its just my bias for simón. say that i'm 'reaching' or that its not that deep but it just makes me mad. the only good thing i can say about Live Eres is that ruggeros voice is very nice.

tldr: making eres a love triangle song erases the point of the song, forcing matteo into something that has nothing to do with him shows writer bias, and having matteo get the girl in the end during a song simón wrote and is a song about simóns feelings is a complete disservice to simón and my boy deserves better. i am going to bed, goodnight.

Levi doesn’t come back to you that night. He doesn’t come back until two nights later. In the meantime, all you have to keep you company is the warmth of your own flames and your worry for him. At first, you had given him space. Then, you were worried. Now, annoyance was starting to tint your worry.

You never claimed to be perfect. But you had been there, had seen Zeke almost recklessly throw his shards of metal at Levi. Levi hadn’t moved fast enough-

Because of you. Because of you. Because of you. You had been trapped under rubble, and despite the bright flames burning through your limbs, you had been unable to push yourself out-

Relief washes over you when you see Levi’s familiar steel eyes through the cracks between the rocks.

“Levi,” You murmur, “I can’t breathe- Where’s Zeke?”

Levi doesn’t answer, instead focused on bending the rock out of the way for you. That’s his first mistake- letting his guard down for half a second. Levi had encased Zeke in quicksand, only buying himself a few extra seconds to get you out.

“Levi, I’m fine! Go, he’s gonna-”

Levi hears it before he sees it, the rumble of the earth only to reveal Zeke looking worse for wear but with an angry glint in his eye. “Levi,” You beg, “Leave me, Levi- Don’t let him-”

He meets your eyes sharply, staring at you for a second before taking off. You were in the lion’s den, in enemy territory. Your heart pounds as you try to do something, anything, to push your way out. Fire licks your irises as flames coating your arms and your hands as you try to weaken the rocks. 

Desperation claws at you when you hear Zeke’s shrieks of anger. Wind whistles as metal flies off of the ceiling, but it’s all background noise. You know what Zeke is capable of. The man scares you, and you’re not too prideful to admit it.

Somehow you make your way out of the cave that Zeke had locked you in. Your chest is heaving and you take a breath of fresh air. Only to see Zeke direct shards of metal towards Levi’s face, cutting him slightly. Levi rolls his eyes as fresh blood drips down his face, only to redirect the metal back at Zeke full speed.

But Zeke has something up his sleeve. You see Levi hesitate for a millisecond, thrown off by the smirk on Zeke’s face. 

Something is about to happen, and you hear it before you see it. You hear explosions in the distance. You connect eyes with Levi and before you can scream for him to harden himself with the earth around him, an explosion goes off right below both of you. Zeke is nowhere to be found, and before you can redirect the fire from the explosion away from you and Levi…

Everything stills for a moment when a second explosion goes off. From right under Levi. 

You had stitched him up, squashing your rising panic. His fingers were missing, and you hope the stitches wouldn’t scar terribly. You don’t allow your heart to ache for him or for fear to settle in your veins, almost replacing your fire. Not yet. Bruises and low grade burns litter his torso. His blood cakes your hands, even under your nails. Your hands shake as you clean his wounds, day and night. He sleeps through the pain. You hope he doesn’t feel it.

You cry at night, curled up in your chair. The local medic comes eventually, to make sure his wounds and dressings are appropriately changed. She gives you medicine and a sympathetic look.

Levi wakes up a few days after that. The medic tries to explain to him what happened, but his eyes are wide when he looks at his hands. And his face in the mirror. A few hours went by, mostly in silence. Levi is on edge, and you can tell. He can’t seem to understand that the man in the mirror is him. How do you look at him like that- with fervent love burning through you?

Levi looks at you once, takes the bandages off of his face and leaves. He just walks out of your small safehouse without a word. You say nothing.

You keep the fireplace lit, just in case he comes back.

Levi has always loved your hands. They were rough, like his, but he’s always been fascinated with your firebending. And the first time you had shown him how to produce lightning, he had kissed you right there at the top of the mountain under the rain. Everything about you lights him up from within. But most of all, he trusts your hands.

He doesn’t feel very worthy of them anymore. He’s running on autopilot, when he walked out of the safehouse and into the forest. You didn’t come after him, and he appreciates that.

But it’s been at least two days now. His face burns and itches. He wants your hands. But how does he face you?

He drags his feet through the forest floor, a little disoriented. Everything feels muted. Everything feels like it’s on fire. The sound of the explosions rings clear in his ears.

Levi walks back home. To you.

By the time he comes back to you, it’s nightfall. You’ve been making an extra bowl of dinner for him, just in case he comes back. And today, he does.

“Levi,” You breathe, running up to him to catch him in your arms, “Let me help you, Levi.”

He looks at you with both eyes, ignoring the searing pain of his right side. If this is the last time he sees you with both eyes, he doesn’t mind. He stamps the memory of your face to his soul.

Levi sits at the edge of the bed, hesitant to touch you. Do you still want him to?

He lets you clean and bandage him up. You even have an eyepatch for him. His hands are limp, chin pointed downwards. He doesn’t meet your gaze, but you’re not surprised. You stay quiet as well, not wanting to push him. Only wanting him to be safe.

It goes like that for a few days- he’s silent when you change his dressings and clean his wounds. Your touch feels like something stolen. He wants to hold your hands, feel your inner warmth seep into him.

But he doesn’t allow it. Not yet.

“Levi,” You murmur, setting a bowl of stew in front of him, “I love you. You remember that, right?”

He hums noncommittally. 

“Nothing’s gonna change that,” You continue, “I’m gonna put a bolt of lightning in Zeke Yeager’s fuckin’ heart. Nothing’s gonna change that either.”

Levi snorts at that. It’s the most you’ve gotten from him. You give him a bright smile and his lips quirk upwards, too.

He eats his stew quietly.

“Can I touch you?” You murmur, as you’re changing his wounds. He sits at the edge of your bed, shirtless. And a little drawn into himself.

“You already are,” Levi remarks. It makes you smile.

“I meant like this,” You murmur, fingers padding over his chest. Silent heat presses into his skin and he feels his muscles relaxing slightly. You haven’t touched him like this in a while. He wonders if you even want to anymore.

You had only wanted to give him the space that he wanted. But you wonder if he’s avoiding your touch out of some form of self-sacrifice. 

He’s always been so dramatic. 

You cup his cheek, your lips only a breath away from his. “I’m going to kiss you now,” You murmur, “Because I love you. No matter what.”

Levi expects your lips on his, but instead you surprise him. Your lips gently press next to his stitches, the bruises on his chest, and upper arms, and finally, his hand. A kiss for each finger. Your lips linger where his fingers should be.

“‘M always gonna hold your hand,” You murmur, “Even when you don’t want to hold mine. Because I love you.”

Levi threads his fingers through yours and you squeeze gently, warm embers of heat curling through his veins. He gives you a small smile, the first one you’ve seen in days.

“Okay,” Levi says softly, meeting your eyes. This time, he squeezes your hands with the little strength he has and feels your warmth finally seep into his skin through the palm of your hands.

He’s always loved your hands. He’s always trusted your hands.

Bonsai {AkiRai}

A/N: using a gif cuz im lazy BUT i needed to get my emotions out because these two have been giving me the biggest brainrot lately and I cannot stress enough just how much i love them. I BEG if you havent watched the show yet you should definitely check it out, it’s only 12 episodes but it’ll get you in the feels. anyway i’ve talked long enough, hope you guys enjoy this one!

Summary: Akihito has been put in charge of taking care of Mirai’s bonsais. He fails to properly take care of them, ruining all of Mirai’s hard work. How will she get her revenge?

“You’re so unpleasant!” Mirai wailed, storming out of the literary clubs room. Akihito ran after her, calling her name.

“Kuriyama, I’m sorry! You know I’m not good with plants!”

Mirai had been sick for the past week and away from school, so her bonsai in the literary clubs room had been left in the care of Akihito. Akihito had been left with minimal instruction due to Mirai being the one who normally takes care of the plants being sick, Mitsuki being absolutely no help, and Hiroomi being too interested in Akihito’s underarms to assist.

So, as a result, he had over groomed, over watered, and just overall ruined Mirai’s bonsai that she had spent months taking care of and making sure were in top condition. She had also spent most of her rent money on them in the first place, and she was more than upset knowing that she would have to buy more now.

“I don’t want to talk to you, Kanbara!” She whined, tears burning in her eyes as she ran up to the rooftop, the place where she had first met Akihito…

It seemed like so long ago, when Akihito had first seen Mirai standing on the rooftop. He had predicted wrong what she was planning, but still he ran up to the bespectacled beauty to try and talk her out of it.

“Someone who looks as good in glasses as you simply must not die!” He had yelled, fists clenched in determination as he watched the strawberry-blonde turn her head.

“How unpleasant,” She had muttered dryly, jumping towards Akihito. Before he could even react, he felt something pierce his chest, and when he looked down there was a sword made of blood stabbing him.

He felt pain searing through his chest, but he still managed to will himself to speak, clenching the sword with one hand.

“Can you do something about this sword, please?” He asked, a small grin on his face.

Mirai had looked at him with a mixture of shock and horror as the immortal boy only chuckled to try and off-set the pain. Yes, that had been how they met, and slowly they had managed to become friends, and now they were something even more.

Mirai shoved open the door to the rooftop, holding it shut behind her as Akihito tried to force it open.

“Please, Kuriyama, I’m really sorry! I won’t do it again, I promise!”

“You won’t do it again because I’m never speaking to you again! Never ever ever!”

Akihito managed to push the door open and squeezed through onto the rooftop, Mirai already running away from him again. Akihito grabbed her wrist and held on as she tugged, trying to escape him as he begged for her forgiveness.

“I’ll get you new bonsai, then we can raise them together!”

“I don’t want to raise anything with you, Plant-Killer! You murdered Risa and Kenichiro!”

“You named your bonsai?!”

Mirai finally shook her wrist free of Akihito and pushed him, knocking him over. As he fell backwards he grabbed onto her again, pulling her down with him.

They fell down, Mirai on top of Akihito as she immediately sat up, staring at him angrily.

“How unpleasant!” She wailed again, her signature catchphrase having been stated many times in the literary club already. Akihito sighed, rubbing his now sore head as he was about to speak another apology to her, but when he opened his mouth all that came out was a surprised yelp.

Mirai angrily dug her fingers into Akihito’s sides, scribbling around as he threw his head back, laughing loudly as she attacked him.

“K-Kuriyahahahahama! Dohohon’t! I said I was sorrehehehehe!”

“Save your apologies, Plant-Killer! They mean nothing to me!” She yelled over Akihito’s growing laughter as she now dug into his ribs, rubbing her knuckles in them in the way she knew drove him absolutely crazy.

He squirmed beneath her, squeezing his arms against his sides in an attempt to squash the sensations, but only ended up trapping Mirai’s hands in one of his more sensitive spots. He was smiling widely as laughter poured from his lips, panicked and loud.

Mirai continued to pout as she tickled poor Akihito, her anger far from vanished as Akihito cackled beneath her, squirming to try and get out of her grip. He threw his head back and shook it around, kicking his legs and digging his heels into the ground as she continued to messily scribble along his ribs, creeping up closer to his upper ribs as Akihito squeaked.

“Kuriyama! Not thehehehere!”

“You deserve it and you know it!” Mirai exclaimed indignantly, digging her hands under Akihito’s arms, making him screech unflatteringly as he squeezed his arms tighter to his sides, trying to block out the sensations but only managing to trap Mirai’s hands in his worst spot.

“StahahaHAHAHAP! Not thehehehehere, plehehehease!!”

“You’re so unpleasant!” Mirai blubbered, her voice breaking. Akihito was too busy laughing his head off to try and comfort her, but he desperately wanted to. He knew how upset she was, all he wanted to do was to tell her that he was going to make it up to her, but with her currently tickling the living hell out of him, he wasn’t able to do much.

It wasn’t like tickling was new in their relationship. Ever since Mirai had found out the other part of the reason why Hiroomi always stuck his hands under Akihito’s arms, she had always used it when she wanted to mess with Akihito. 

That said, Akihito had recently discovered that Mirai was just as ticklish as he was, and it had helped him get out of certain situations with just a few pokes and an exclamation of “How unpleasant!”

With a ridiculous amount of willpower, Akihito managed to move his arms from his sides, flinching a few times as they desperately wanted to clamp back every time Mirai scribbled harder or delicately pinched the sensitive flesh. He reached up and grabbed onto Mirai’s sides, making her squeak. Still laughing, Akihito squeezed his hands, successfully making giggles pour from Mirai’s lips.

She retracted her hands from his body and used them to try and pull his hands off of her own, squealing as she turned from side to side, Akihito sitting up after catching his breath.

“Kaha - Kanbara! You’re beheheing-”

“What? Unpleasant? Well, I’m gonna keep being unpleasant until you forgive me,” He said, a small smirk on his face. He rubbed his thumbs into her hipbone, making her squeak and double over with high-pitched, girlish laughter.

“Hehehehe! Plahahahant-Killer!” She repeated, and Akihito only chuckled, making her whine.

“Dohohon’t laugh at me!” She howled, throwing her head back when Akihito started to scribble his fingers over her tummy, spidering over the sensitive torso.

“Forgive me, Kuriyama~?” He said in a whiny tone, only making Mirai giggle more at his antics. She laughed and shot her hands back at Akihito, tickling under his arms again as he choked on a laugh, crumpling forward slightly and squirming as laughter started to spill once more from his own lips.

“I’ll nehehehever forgive youuuu!” She declared, laughing brightly like a small child as Akihito laughed with her, creeping his fingers up to her lower ribs where he knew he would get a good reaction. Mirai jerked, more bubbly laughter filling the air around them as her own tickling on Akihito weakened, her upper arms now clamped to her sides, which made it difficult to tickle Akihito.

“Juhuhust say it!” Akihito laughed, and Mirai shook her head. Akihito began to knead her lower rib cage, making her positively squeal as she fell forward, leaning against Akihito as she squirmed madly, pulling her hands away from Akihito again to try and keep him from tickling her.

Akihito panted as he continued to knead her ribcage, rubbing his thumb in circles as her laughter grew in volume and pitch. She wasn’t expecting the tables to have turned as they did, but she probably shouldn’t have expected any less of the half-youmu who was currently tickling her to pieces.

“Alrihihihight! I f-forgive yohohohou!” She finally exclaimed, having had enough of the tickles on her ribs. Akihito stopped, smiling softly at her.

“H-How unpleasant,” She said quietly, and squeaked when she felt another poke at her side.

“Let’s not look at it in a negative way, now you can get some new bonsai and we can raise them together,” Akihito offered, and Mirai blushed, turning her head as she took off her glasses to clean them, a nervous habit of hers.

“It’s easy for you to look at it in a positive light, Plant-Killer,” She huffed, and Akihito sighed, though he couldn’t fight back the amused grin on his face.

“Is that my new name now?”

“Yes.”

Akihito chuckled softly, watching as Mirai put her glasses back on and adjusted them with her thumb. Akihito shyly pecked her cheek when she finished adjusting her glasses, making her face heat up as she sputtered.

“Y-Y-You! Don’t do that, meanie!” She whined, pounding her fists against Akihito’s chest as he laughed.

“Alright, I won’t,” He said, a lilt in his tone that made Mirai suspicious of him even more. “Can you get off of me though? We can go get more bonsai now if you want.”

Mirai quickly got off of Akihito, brushing herself off as he helped himself up, rubbing the back of his head again that was still somewhat sore from the previous fall. He reached his hand out to Mirai, who looked at him hesitantly. He smiled gently at her, the smile that he knew she would never be able to refuse, and she took his hand.

“Do I get to name one of the bonsai since we’re gonna be raising them together?”

“S-Stop making it sound like we’re parents! And no, they’re my bonsai so I get to name them,” Mirai huffed, and Akihito snickered.

“Our bonsai.”
