I think Mike and Will’s first kiss should be in a quiet moment with little to no stakes — just a gentle, yet emotional, “hey, I want you to know how I feel” kind of moment. I think it would really showcase how different their relationship is from Mike and Eleven’s because Mike’s big, romantic moments with her tend to be dire or frustrating. His love for Will has never been like that. Sure, there have been dire circumstances, but even in those moments, love was soft and unprompted.
Will leaving Mike behind as he bikes away and Mike doesn’t stop him. The first time, the light flickers. The second time, the rain is pouring down. This happened in 1.01 and 3.03.
WHAT IF a similar scene happens in 5.05? With flickering lights AND pouring rain? And what if, this time, Mike actually stops Will from leaving?
jason is saying that chrissy would never buy drugs. the phrase "straight as an arrow" means honest or genuine. it turns out the jason was wrong about chrissy and that she actually was buying drugs, proving that she wasn't exactly how jason thought she was.
now where else have we seen an arrow?
HMMMMMM
i WONDER who we've seen who hasn't been being truthful or honest??? mike's not "as straight as an arrow", he's not what everyone thought he was.
not to mention the arrow was YELLOW.
AND this happened as suzie's house where everything was foreshadowed.
Mike disappears and is presumed dead. After all the necessary drama we’ll get some more necessary drama with Will and Nancy talking. Nancy gives Will a present Mike had gotten him for Christmas (this is after time skip ofc) and we’ll see a flashback with Mike and Nancy talking. Mike asks Nancy what should he get Will and Nancy ofc says she doesn’t know but Mike keeps asking questions like what kind of gift she’d get for Jonathan etc. gay-implying questions and Nancy finally gets it (and doesn’t push Mike to say it or anything but we’ll get something like byers bros scene in s4 in which things are implied and Nancy’s okay with it).
And then after Mike comes back, we have some nice scenes with them not knowing how to be because Will knows and doesn’t believe it and Mike is clueless but also more in the know about his own feelings now and and and after enough pining content they’ll finally give us confession+kiss+happily ever after. (Vecna obviously is team gay and doesn’t wanna torture them anymore because that would be homophobic.)
I'm a ''Will is gonna initiate the kiss softly but Mike is gonna continue it, until it turns sloppy and someone walks in, interrupting them. They don't speak abt it and then Will disappears, so they have loads of miscommunication" truther
Mike confesses but Will doesn’t believe him -> Mike get’s Vecna’d -> Mike hides in the swingset memory -> Will travels into Vecna’s mind using his connection to him -> Will finds Mike at the swingset -> Will realizes that Mike was being genuine in his confession -> Byler kiss
the duffers used a sad, subdued cover of heroes in season 1 for a scene where we see all power and autonomy taken away from will and replaced with a lie meant to conceal a truth people wouldn’t like, although the lie isn’t much better. mike is heartbroken. they’re saving the david bowie version for a scene in season 5 where will shatters a lie and takes all his power and autonomy back. mike is overjoyed and full of love.
once the apocalypse and upside down is finally done, i want byler to secretely date but still being touchy and kind-of-subtly loving with the extended party but all of them (minus robin and erica probably) being completely clueless sooo bad
So I think Mike getting Vecna'd would make sense for his character, if any character is getting Vecna'd I think it'll be Mike for multiple reasons but mostly I think it would help flesh out his character and make certain things about him more clear to the GA. Obviously I've been doing character studies on him for years and I'm always exited to learn more about him, but a lot of people are really confused by his character "regression" and why he became a jerk so I think it would make sense for him to get Vecna'd just so it's a bit more clear why he acts the way he does and it would definitely be the best way to show Mike's feelings for Will.
Now, my theory is what song would save him?
Personally I've had a headcanon/theory for a while now that his song would be The Promise by When In Rome.
First off, it fits the show aesthetically, it definitely feels like a good song for them to put in, and not only that but it came out in 1987 which, since there will be a time jump to about 88 or 89, would make sense.
But also look at some of these lyrics and tell me they don't make you think of the rain fight, but especially from Mike's perspective
"sometimes if I shout, it's not what I intended" could easily reference Mike projecting when he said "it's not my fault you don't like girls"
It definitely fits Mike's character and his feelings towards Will very well
> Mike wanted to ask Will to the Snowball prior to s1, and we'll either learn this in a flashback or Mike confesses it.
This has to do with how Mike defines what a 'best friend' is, which I'm sure has something like "A best friend is someone you do everything with."
So of course if he ever wanted to go to the Snowball, he would've wanted to go with the person he considered his best friend. ( Dustin leads us to believe its Lucas in s1, but maybe Mike's inclusion of both Dustin and Will had something to do with him feeling like he couldn't 'get caught' having only one best friend. Assuming he indeed suffers from severe internalized homophobia which im kind of pretty sure he does )
I picture it being like ... a parallel to s2 Lucas asking his dad what we could do to make Max not unhappy with him anymore. And maybe Mike asked Ted or Karen, even, something like 'How do I ask someone to the Snow Ball?'
and it turned into this whole thing about why he couldn't invite Will even though Will is his best friend and he does everything with his best friend. This could also connect with mike and el's conversation in s1 right before their first kiss.
So yeah, like David said in an interview "Things in this show tend to pay off, like the Snowball thing" so maybe the Snowball's arc hasn't concluded yet and it'll remain an important topic in s5!
Mike has to make the first move because Will has always been content to just be how they are forever. Mike is the one who has potentially hoped and given up and tried to move on back and forth over and over. He’s the one who’s sought out more.
thinking about “these acceptance letters tend to come end of week, just to make you sweat”
foreshadowing mike giving will his letter at the end of spring break week ??
then i went back and calculated what day the season ends on which if i’m correct is march 29, exactly a week since spring break started, a week since mike landed in cali, the end of spring break week.
we know s4 was supposed to end on a huge cliffhanger that would make you scream at the tv and i believe it was supposed to end with either mike or will being tranced. so that just makes me think something like mike pulling the letter out of his pocket and reading it to save will, his real truthful monologue, could be a possibility.
(also i think it’s funny how we’re literally joyce in this situation (like usual lmao) and the mailman is like the duffers like “don’t worry it’s coming just wait”)
@will80sbyers expressed a very interesting idea, which I had for some time too.
So I wanted to discuss it, actually. How do y'all think, should we spread Byler theories and proof in the media or should we be more quiet about it since that's probably what the showrunners would want?
I don't think that they would change their plans because of the fans. Quite the opposite, the Duffers said they are going to end the show in a way which seems right, despite what the fans want. But if Byler is canon (and we are sure it is), then it seems like they want to make a plot twist. That's why Mike's POV in the script is hidden. Also they don't want to lose the audience (never overestimate the homophobic people - they will stop watching the show in case they are triggered with spoilers and the ratings will fall, that's why it's needed to take them by surprise).
And we still want out favourite gay monster show to be #1 at Netflix, right?
I think we should pay attention to the actors - if they shut up about Byler, we probably should do the same. If they don't and Noah keeps sailing with us - maybe we are fine?
Anyway I expect Netflix to post tons of melvin promo to distract the audience from Byler since we are growing strong.
