She was silent, preoccupied with her own thoughts and the sinking feeling in her stomach. Anxiety burned white-hot all the way down, leaving a gaping pit that filled with bile and self-loathing.
Kiwa's supportive quip was muffled in her ears, but delayed processing meant realization dawned on her a minute later. Eyelashes fluttered, color returned to her face, but there was a distinct lack of light in her eyes when she focused on her girlfriend.
"Uh? I guess, yeah. . . Go for it. Just don't get too carried away."

HEADCANONS

Behind The Track ... Shadow ♪
Tumblr media
 Unlocked
‥ The track reflects a conflict happening within Himari's mind which grows along with her fame, showcasing that every piece of light has its dark counterpart that grows stronger the more it is pushed away.
‥ She has been rather open recently about mental challenges she has faced since the group's debut and putting those negative periods into songs is - in her opinion - a way to fight her internal battles. In this case being able to write about her 'shadow' is a way of unlocking a piece of herself which still needs healing, letting out the raging emotions out in a non-harmful way and allowing her to deal with it on her own terms.
‥ Despite being a vocalist she chose to rely heavily on rap throughout the song, using vocals solely for the chorus, as she felt it conveyed the distress behind the lyrics more accurately. Rapping is usually seen as something angry and aggressive, making it the ideal choice to express the raging emotions contained in the verses while vocals are viewed as more vulnerable which is why it is used in the chorus - which is no longer confrontational but desperate.
‥ When the members listened to the rough version there was a moment of silence after the song ended as they tried to process everything they had just learned about the maknae's struggles. Yoongi having gone through very similar experiences had to step out of the studio in order to calm his thoughts as seeing so much of himself in his younger sister scared him, mainly because he did not want the cycle to repeat itself with her.
‥ This track had been in the works for a while yet she chose to completely wipe the old lyrics as they had been created during a time where she still had a hard time accepting the more negative parts of herself - her shadow - and she wanted the story to show the full extent of her conflict's growth, not bring back the version of herself in its deepest state of fatigue.
📂 Notebook
‥ 'Shadow' This represents every negative part of herself that she wishes to push away, every hurtful memory, her deepest regrets and even things such as emotional or physical pain. It also embodies anger, grudges, greed, resentment, etc.
‥ 'I wanna be...' These desires for greatness not only demonstrate the dreamy mindset of wanting to have it all but also the desperation to be good enough, to not let the hopes of those who believe in her be in vain. With the industry's constant push for perfection she developed a fear of failure, beginning to have trouble admitting when something she did was the best that could have possibly been done within her abilities.
‥ 'I wondered everyday how far I'd go. I came to my senses and I find myself here' After leaving JYPE in favor of KQ her future became uncertain due to the amount of elimination risks that came with the survival show, instilling doubt in her mind every day about how long she could hold on to her spot. During that time she drowned herself in training - including learning new skills such as production and rap - which made every day that passed almost unnoticed so when she finally took a breath after being chosen, only then did she realize she had succeeded.
‥ 'Yeah, hmm, shadow at my feet. Look down, it's gotten even bigger. I run but the shadow follows, as dark as the light's intense' The fact that the shadow stands at her feet symbolizes the fact that she has kept it below her all this time, ignoring its very existence in hopes that the light - ATEEZ's success - would dissipate it. However once she truly pays attention to it, it has grown much bigger than anticipated and no matter how much she attempts to ignore it once more she realizes that there is no escaping what has been created by her own mind. 'As dark as the light's intense' refers to the fact that the group's success only strengthens that shadow due to more stress factors, more eyes on her, more grueling physical efforts, etc.
‥ 'I can leap in the air but also plunge, now I know.' Due to coming from a small company there was not much lower for the group to go hence she believed that the only thing they could so was rise yet as they did so, people began attempting to drag her down - making the manager wonder if keeping her was truly a good choice - and that was when she realized that despite the success they had achieved they also had a risk of all of that falling apart.
‥ 'Running away could be an option too, pause' A few months after debut she began getting a large amount of hate and realized that it was affecting the group's popularity growth, leading to her making the decision to leave. The 'pause' signifies the night her bandmates found out, during which they sat the girl down and did whatever they could to alter her choice.
‥ 'People say, there's splendor in that bright light. But my growing shadow swallows me and becomes a monster' The 'bright light' refers to fame which is something that most people find to be a wonderful thing and just as light creates shadows, fame creates negativity. The group was made to work harder the more successful they became which led to her sustaining multiple injuries from extensive practices or even performances during which she suffered from deep fatigue - essentially 'swallowing' her. Monsters are terrifying and seemingly unbeatable, which is how she felt going through her depressive episode.
‥ 'I rise, rise, I hate it.' ATEEZ saw a rapid ascent to popularity which still carries on to this day and although she is proud of this achievement, she claims to hate it in order to illustrate the heavy burdens that come with it.
‥ 'I pray, I pray, hoping to be okay' It has been stated before that she does not follow a religion - despite having a few spiritual beliefs - so the fact that there is willingness to pray to something she does not believe in shows the extent of her desperation. It felt so much as though she was running out of options that the only thing she could do was hope some higher power would be willing to help her.
‥ 'Please don't let me shine. Don't let me down, don't let me fly. Now I'm afraid' The words have nothing to do with one another, symbolizing the fact that in such a terrified and desperate state there are so many things running through her head that all she can do is beg desperately to be protected from what she is afraid of.
‥ 'The moment I face myself brought lowest. It so happens that I'm flying the highest.' The Fireworks era was the lowest point in her mental health following increased demands for her to be removed from the group as well as several personal side factors and it was a time during which her body was experiencing increased fatigue. At this time however ATEEZ was at a high point, filming the show 'Kingdom: Legendary War' and 'Stressor Things' all the while promoting their new album. A similar circumstance happened during the Guerilla era, during which people claimed she needed to train harder in order to reach the members' level of power - leading to severe impacts on her body including the inability to stand after the song was over.
‥ 'Try smiling, what are you hesitating for? Wasn't this the kind of thing you were hoping for? Or cry instead, what are you scared of? Wasn't this the kind of thing you'd been wanting?' Pushing herself to smile mainly refers to the fact that in front of cameras she refused to show her fatigue, going by most days believing that tomorrow everything would go back to normal - that these feelings eating away at her were temporary. Crying was also complicated around the members due to her refusal to burden them with whatever was happening in her mind - somewhat afraid that their reactions would be negative. Questioning herself about the fact that it was what she wanted is a form of self-criticism in which she is trying to find reasons around the shadow's existence, removing any validity the conflict in her mind has.
‥ 'All the things you wanted, you've got it all. So what's the problem? Just enjoy it. Or just let it go, no? Then run, or stop. Don't whine, just choose one or the other' A lot of the time Himari became conflicted with her own feelings, not understanding why there were times she seemed tired of her career as it was what many people dreamed of and it was what she sacrificed so much for. When tired thoughts made their way into her mind, she would scold herself with the same lines she had heard from 'fans'; 'How can you be depressed when you have everything ?'.
‥ 'That at times, your rest becomes your fall. Do you finally get it? That giving it your best effort every time is what it means to do your best' Having very high expectations for herself she would not rest until she got the choreography down to perfection, however over time - thanks to a lot of help from the members - she realized that sometimes there were things her body was not able to do or handle so simply doing things to the best of her abilities was enough.
‥ [Distortion following the second bridge] The sudden switch is a humanization of the shadow's voice, turning the song into a conversation between it and her consciousness rather than a monologue.
‥ 'Yeah I'm you, you are me, now do you know. Yeah you are me, I'm you, now you do know' The shadow is attempting to rationalize with her more conscious self in order to make her realize that the mind will only become more conflicted the longer the two parts stay as two separate entities. 'Now do you know' is an aggressive, somewhat arrogantly phrased question to show that while Himari attempted to build a new self comprised of nothing but light, the shadow always knew that both could not exist without one another.
‥ 'We are one body, sometimes we will clash. You can never break me off, this you must know' Both sides of her persona essentially share the same source, the same mind, which means there is never truly an escape from either and confusion in her own mind is inevitable, even so, no side can be destroyed. 'This you must know' conveys the urgency behind the need for reconciliation between the two parts for the sake of the healing of her mental health.
‥ 'Yeah you'll be at ease if you admit it too. Yeah succeed or fail, whichever way you flow. Yeah you can't escape, wherever you go' Once again these lines are from the shadow's point of view helping her realize that the darker parts of herself will always be here no matter what, inciting her to comes to terms with this fact in order to heal. In this she is essentially attempting to make her conscious self realize that recognizing she's hurt is the first step to getting better.
‥ 'We are you, we are me, this do you know' The final lyric being from her shadow counterpart symbolizes that the conflict has been put to rest, using the word 'we' to refer to both parts as one hence symbolizing the new coexistence between the pained and healing sides of herself.

i. CHAPTER ONE; NEW ENVIRONMENT
"NICE TO MEET you, I'm Egashira Momoko, you can just call me Momoko." Said a girl with her red hair put up on a pig tail.
"Nice to meet you, Momoko." Smiled Y/n.
Some of the girls went to her table as soon the teacher left the class for a moment, introducing themselves, getting to know each other.
"Say, what did you eat to make you that tall?" A girl named Hana, leaning her back to her desk. Hana has long black hair that Y/n herself found it very beautiful. She pulled her hair back with a pink headband.
"Oh, I don't know. I played a lot of basketball with my brothers." Replied Y/n, fidgeting her fingers.
"The boys gonna have to look up to you whenever they talk to you," laughs Hana.
"Oh, don't be like that, Hana-chan." Momoko giggles, somehow Hana's comment and Momoko and others laugh made her self conscious.
She's aware that her height is far taller than other girls around her age, Her cousins that are girls, their height didn't even reach her ears. She even asks her mom if her height is normal for her age, and her mom answers that it's normal telling her that she was the same height as her when she was in her age.
"What should we call you?" Himari starts making her beaming at the question.
"N/n-chan is fine!"
                     ───────────── .୭̥ ❁ ˎˊ˗
"Hey, wanna play together?" Y/n asked Hana and others, her eyes lit up as the class was over, and it's break time. Her e/c sparkling with joy.
"Oh, uhm, actually, I'm going to the restroom with Momoko." Hana replied, taking Momoko's wrist in her hand in a hurry. Momoko, who was sitting down, went up to her feet very quickly from being pulled up by the black haired girl.
"I'll come with then!" Y/n declared, Hana shakes her head.
"No, no, no, you stay here. we won't be long anyway." Hana pulls Momoko's wrist, leading her to the restroom, sharing a laugh with the red head.
"Hey, I haven't seen the school playground, Should we play there?" Y/n turned to the girls with her hands behind hiding her nervousness, looking at each one for them, earning no reply until her attention instantly shifted to one of them holding their stomach.
"Oh my stomach, it's cramping!" one of them leaning their body forward a little while holding her stomach. "Im gonna need to use the toilet." She quickly ran past the h/c.
"Wait, Sae!" The other two girls suddenly ran past her too with one of them yelling from the door, "Just stay there, we won't be long! Then we can show you the playground." Before following Sae to the restroom, leaving her behind.
"Okay then, dont be long..." She whispered, sitting back down to her chair.
                   ───────────── .°୭̥ ❁ ˎˊ˗
Kazehaya Shota was playing around with his friends, joking around as they walked to the playground after taking back their ball from the teacher. "Gosh, I missed it again." Shota picked up a familiar voice of his classmate and unconsciously eavesdropped on the conversation on the stairs.
"I'll give you my notes later." Momoko told Hana.
"Thanks."
"What subjects did you miss?"
"Math and English, this sucks my grades gonna drop if this continues."
"N/n-chan is still new, I'm sure it'll drop soon."
Y/n and Hana sit quite next to each other. He remembered that a while ago, Y/n looked around and tapped Hana shoulders.
"It better be, or my mom will kill me, don't anyone that I said this, but I think Y/n is a little annoying for a new girl." Hana and the girls walk in front of Kazehaya and his friends.
"She's just trying to adjust." One of her friends defends. A short girl, brunette named Rika. She nervously smiles at the tension between her friends.
"Still, I dont remember you like that when you moved here." Hana huffed, crossing her arms.
"Should we just leave her in class?"
"Just leave her be, I'm sure she'll be fine anyway with her tall self."
"What's wrong with you girls?" Shouta asked them from behind. He can't help but ask about what they're talking about.
"Oh, Kazehaya-kun! Hana-chan was just telling us that N/n-chan missed taking notes." Momoko answered.
"Oh, you mean that new tall girl in your class? She's so huge!" Laughs Yoshida Kei holding the basketball above his head.
"Yeah, like a giant!"
They laugh except Kazehaya, who feels guilty. The moment she walks in, she doesn't really stand up straight with her chin up. She looks down.
"I know what to do. Let's go back to the class!" The boys ran back upstairs, snickering.
"Where are you going?" Shouta question echoed through the quiet hall. The girls followed them, wondering what they were going to do.
"Come on, Kazehaya, it'll be fun!" he swallowed, trying to rid the lump in his throat. He had a bad feeling about them changing their plans from going to tricks with the basketball to going back to their class. He wanted to leave, but he's worried it's what he thinks it is.
They didn't wait for him, hurrying back to class with the hesitating Shouta catching up behind.

So, the reason Toki has a mech is mostly because story convenience and because it's cool, but I'll explain in a fresh new post because I actually like the story justification quite a bit
So Asuma Toki gets introduced in the second-most recent story update (On global, the JP version is ahead by like two or three updates), point is, she's very new. She's also a member of C&C (The group that Karin (The dark skinned maid girl), Asuna (The big boobie maid girl), Neru (The sukeban maid girl), and Akane (The megane maid girl) are a part of)
Why was she only showing up now when the rest are units that have been in the game forever, you ask?
Well, she answers exclusively to one of the administrators of Millennium Science School, enter
Tumblr media
Tsukatsuki Rio, student council president and, as dubbed by Himari, "Big Sister"
This is both a riff on 1984 and calling her the school's oneesan, Rio is obsessed with keeping the various extant threats to Kivotos from harming her school, as such, she both does a ton of surveillance, and keeps a ton of countermeasures in place to isolate/eliminate them. This puts her at odds with the main characters for the arc where she appears but also means she's built like, a fortress meant to contain threating machines/people, she has Himari researching cryptids
Tumblr media
And she built and gave Toki a mech suit for when Kivotos Branded Legally Distinct Firearms™ aren't quite enough
Then when the arc is done she formally becomes friends with C&C and, as is tradition, gains a bunny suit

Secret Santa 🎅 time!
@thistaleisabloodyone here is your gift from me ♡
Title: Greatest Gift of All.
Genre: Fluff, AU (I made Riku a different form of artist. I hope you don't mind 😬)
W/C: 1192
Pairing: Riku & OC 1
Merry Christmas Tale!! I Hope you had a great one. Sorry it's late, but I hope you like it. ♡
Tumblr media
Himari noticed Riku for the thousandth time come and go at the Café she worked at. Every single time, they would sneak glances at each other without it being too obvious. He was always so soft-spoken with her, trying to make small talk. Where she shrugged it off as he was being kind, he just wanted her to know he existed. Anytime he came in, he had a designated spot by the window. He also always had smudges on his hand that she could never pinpoint the reasoning. She understood since he always brought a notebook and pencils, laying them out surgically like tools. Hours upon hours, he'd spend doing things in his notebook. It did draw curiosity from Himari, wondering what he was up to, but she never pushed to ask. She just figured it was for his eyes only. Riku looked up from studying his book, just enough to see Himari. She had a nice smile. One that decorated her eyes as well. Riku liked that. It was genuine and gave him butterflies, which he had never felt before.
Christmas was around the corner, which meant the perfect time for hot chocolate. He ordered two, which threw Himari off since he was alone, but she figured he just wanted an extra one. She brought them out, placing the mugs on the table leaving Riku admiring the tree in the whipped cream.
“Excuse me Himari,” he gathered his nerves to talk to her, “the other is for you.”
She looked bewildered, “For me?” she turned slowly meeting his glance.
“Mhm. You're always on the go, I believe you deserve more than just a simple thank you. Please sit,” He pointed at the seat right in front of him.
Himari wiped her hands on her apron as she obliged. She was beginning to get tired and cold, this was a kind gesture of him to do. He was easy to open up to. One thing she noticed, was how attentive he was when she spoke. He gave her his full attention. In all the years of being in customer service, she never had that happen.
“Thank you Riku, this is kind of you,” she intertwined her fingers around the mug to feel warmth.
Himari just stared off, before he broke her concentration elsewhere.
“You decorated the place nicely,” He took a sip.
“Oh no, I didn't do this. Honestly my heart wasn't in it this year, so I can't take the credit. This was all their doings,” she looked over at him forcing a smile.
This year wasn’t the best for her, being the first Christmas she wasn’t able to spend with her family. She didn’t explain much, but she tiptoed around the topic. Riku glanced down at his book, as she didn’t notice the shift in his glance. It was sad for him that she wasn’t the normal upbeat person he had known for a long time. Times were just rough, making it hard for her to afford going back home.
Snow was gently falling from the sky as it started decorating the sheets in a beautiful white blanket. The way the flakes danced in the sky, was truly a sight to behold. Himari wasn’t feeling at all the Christmas spirit that her coworkers were engulfed in. Families far and wide surrounded the dinning room, making Himari miss hers. He felt sadness in his heart that he never felt before. They finished their hot chocolate as Himari picked up the mugs. He packed up his items, placing them in his bag. When Himari walked back into dining room, Riku waved bye. She shot him a smile waving.
Himari stepped outside momentarily to feel the cold wind blowing. Before Riku, she never tried to put much thought in missing Christmas, but talking to him relieved a lot of worries and stress off her shoulders. Every breath she took, she could see the steam. Her neighbors really knew how to decorate, their lights illuminating the streets. She was just happy about the snow. Himari skimmed her foot in the snow, looking around to make sure she was alone. A thought crossed her mind as she sat in the snow lying back, arms out to her side. The thought that she looked ridiculous did cross her mind, but she didn’t care. She raised her arms, spreading her feet apart making a snow angel. The only problem was that it would be ruined once she tried to get up. Suddenly, a voice broke her train of thought.
“Here, take my hand,” Riku extended his hands for her to grab.
She jumped up to her feet next to Riku admiring her work. She wasn’t artistic to say the least, so seeing something so beautiful come from her, was exhilarating. He looked over at her smiling, happy to see that expression decorating her face once more.
“What are you doing here Riku?”
“I think I left something at the Café.”
“Oh, well we can go see about that,” she led him to the door.
Once they got inside, he walked over to the table where they were sitting earlier. He looked it over a few times as he returned handing her a present. She was stunned at his actions, but took the present thanking him.
“I wanted you to have this. I hope you like it.” Riku placed his hands in his pockets nervously awaiting her to open it.
Himari sat down as she unwrapped the gift slowly. She was staring back at herself. Riku had sketched her at some point, capturing her beauty. She smiled as she looked up at him, jumping up wrapping her arms around his neck. He reciprocated the hug, just happy she liked it.
“It’s beautiful Riku, thank you. This is the nicest gift I’ve ever received.”
“You’re welcome Himari. Merry Christmas. I just wish I could make it better for you.”
“You already have, but I’m sorry I don’t have anything in return.”
“You’re enough. Listen Himari, I’ve tried thinking of different ways to explain how I felt.”
“Wow Riku. So you’re asking me out?”
A grin formed around the corners of his lips as he nodded. “I hope you don’t mind.”
“Not at all, but why me?”
“You are the only lady that has ever controlled my emotions. I laugh when you laugh. When you smile, my heart literally smiles, I’m not sure how but it does. When you’re sad or look like you’re brooding, I just want to make all your negative intrusive thoughts disappear. I would love the chance to be that and more, if you’d let me.”
Himari thought for a second before looking back at him. She did like Riku and liked the fluttering sensation she gained whenever he spoke, so she nodded.
“I guess we can give this a try,” she ran her hands through her ponytail playing with her hair.
He approached her once more placing her chin lightly in his hand. They met halfway as they shared a slow loving kiss. She felt a smile form on his lips, as he looked up. Wanting to see what stole his attention, she noticed mistletoe right above their heads.
“Merry Christmas Himari, you’re the greatest gift I could ever ask for.”
