To combat burnout, I decided to add a bunch of Monster High characters to a wheel and draw whoever I got, sorta with my own ideas of how their monster anatomy should look and with outfits taking inspiration from other monster high doll outfits.

(Note: Year 1 is the year Frankie joins Monster High, aka the start of canon)

Year -1:

Nefera graduates and leaves the fearleading team to Cleo, making her captain.

Year 0:

Clawd is voted captain of the football team.

August 25:

Cupid decides that the captain of the football team and fearleading team should date, so she shoots them with a love arrow.

August 26 – October 31:

Clawd and Cleo start a relationship unaware of Cupid’s intervention.

Clawd notices a “spark” between Cleo and Deuce, he’s jealous about this for like a second before he gets over it. (Probably because he doesn’t actually like Cleo, and the arrow is beginning to wear off)

Cleo knows Deuce wants to ask her out but doesn’t dare because she’s still dating Clawd, and she wouldn’t say yes for the same reason.

Clawd and Cleo begin to struggle with each of their teams due to unresolved personal problems. Half the Fearleading team quits leaving the ghouls we see at the start of the webseries.

At this point, they wanted to break up but decide not to, to avoid extra drama. (it is unclear to me if they actually discussed it or if it was unspoken, either way the arrow has clearly worn off by now)

By leaning into each other, they start to make better decisions in their respective leadership roles.

November 1:

Cleo and Clawd break up on friendly terms.

Cleo asks Clawd to say she broke up with him, he says he won’t lie if asked directly but won't otherwise contradict the story she tells.

Literally the same day Deuce asks Cleo out, go tiger.

Clawdeen thinks Cleo did her brother wrong, hates her guts, this marks the start of their pre-series rivalry.

Year 1:

October 7:

Spectra misinterprets a conversation that makes her start a rumor that Deuce is leaving Cleo for Operetta. (this is the second time this happens to them lol)

Spectra implies to Cleo she thinks she had it coming for dumping Clawd, Cleo gets mad at her.

Clawd confronts Spectra about what she said, and they end up in a huge fight that causes them to get called to Headmistress Bloodgood’s office.

Spectra then begins an additional rumor that Clawd still has feelings for Cleo that Clawdeen hears and makes her want to confront Cleo. (this is what we refer to as Spectra's villain era)

October 18:

Clawd tells Clawdeen the whole truth about what happened with Cleo. This changes her view of Cleo and their friendship will develop in the webseries. (as far as I know, his beef with Spectra never gets resolved and I will continue to believe he kinda hates her until I do a thorough rewatch and find something that will prove me wrong)

After much observation, I have brought together a couple with much potential. He is a werewolf and captain of the Monster High football team, and she is a mummy and the captain of the Fear Squad. Much to my delight, my arrows both flew true and struck the intended targets at the perfect moment. I foresee them being together for a long time, and I can’t imagine anything but good coming from this match.

On September 20, she thought she might have made a mistake, But she didn't understand what was wrong

I am beginning to think that maybe I acted a bit hastily in pairing Clawd Wolf and Cleo de Nile. I had not counted on Cleo loving herself as much as she does or Clawd’s love for the game he plays. This is becoming very confusing. My arrows are supposed to be foolproof, but even though they are still together and appear as happy to every other monster, I know they are not. Cleo is also beginning to have affections for a Gorgon boy named Deuce. I suppose I could ask my father what to do, but I want to work this out on my own. I can’t be flying home every time I have a problem I don’t think I can solve.

On November 1st everything came together in a confusing way...for Cupid

Clawd broke up with Cleo today, although he let her tell every monster that she dumped him. Now Cleo’s dating Deuce, Clawd’s sister Clawdeen believes her brother has been “done wrong” and is very angry at Cleo, and I find this all very confusing and well… confusing. I almost shot Clawd and Cleo again but then thought better of it. Maybe just randomly picking out two monsters that seem compatible isn’t the best way to go about this. I have somehow made a mess out of something that should have been so easy. I guess this is what my father meant by “gaining experience”. Oh, and Headmistress Bloodgood wants to see me tomorrow. I can’t wait to have that conversation

I love how Cupid arrowed Clawd and Cleo, being absolutely sure that they would be prefects together just by being captains and popular, only to see that they don't "click". It's also cute how Cleo fell for Deuce even when she was under the effect of Cupid's arrow

It's also hilarious that even today a large part of the fandom really believes that it was Cleo who break up with Clawd and not the other way around
