C 👏 S 👏 LEWIS 👏 WAS 👏 NOT 👏 MISOGYNISTIC
IM SO SICK OF THIS TAKE
“But he said girls shouldn’t fight in battles—" No, actually. What he said was “Battles are ugly when women fight.” Which literally translates to “in a war where women are required to fight to help win it, it means the war itself is really bad.” And this literally just means that the war has gotten so bad that women have to fight, not that women shouldn’t fight. Just that they shouldn’t be forced to. Anyway, remember Lucy?? Lucy who rode to battle in The Horse and His Boy?? Lucy who fought as an archer?? “But Susan didn’t—" Yeah. Because she didn’t want to. No one was forcing her not to fight. She had free will to fight or to not fight, and she chose not to because she didn’t want to, not because a man made her stay home.
“He punished Susan for growing up—" S i g h. This is the one I see the most often. “He did Susan dirty” “he made her suffer because she liked lipstick” “etc etc blah blah blah” First of all Narnia is a children’s book series. For CS Lewis to delve into why Susan forgot Narnia, talk about her dealing with the death of her entire family, discuss her grief, and write about her eventual return to Narnia (more on that in a second), it would’ve made for a pretty dark and heavy children’s book, and Lewis said that he didn’t think that was something he wanted to write. But he also encouraged people to finish Susan’s story themselves, and said she might eventually make her own way back to Narnia. Not only this, but Susan’s name means lily, and the waters around Aslan’s country are covered in lilies. Coincidence? I think not. I think it symbolizes she was going to go back. (Especially considering I think Lewis was very careful in choosing each of the Pevensie’s names, since they all relate to their character).
Also, Lewis did not condemn Susan simply for growing up and liking makeup and clothing and boys. If so why would he have written about Aravis and Shasta/Cor, or Caspian and Liliandil? Why would he have written about Susan and Lucy being beautiful and having many suitors? So no, he wasn’t condemning her for that, and in fact he wasn’t condemning her at all. It’s extremely probable that her family’s death would have brought Susan back to her senses. Because here’s the thing: she forgot. She threw herself so much into the world and approval and convinced herself that her life as a queen and her acquaintance with Aslan was all a silly game they played as children, that it wasn’t real. But, she very well could remember again, and I 1000% believe she did.
“All his female characters were weak and did nothing—" My friend. Lucy Pevensie was a female. She discovered Narnia. It was because of her. Her siblings would never have found it without her. Lucy is one of THE most important characters in the entire series. And her title? The Valiant. Lucy’s very title as queen denoted her bravery and fortitude without one even knowing her. As for Susan, she was not any weaker for being “The Gentle.” I would say gentleness is honestly one of the strongest traits a person can have, because it takes a lot to live and be gentle. Also remember Aravis? A major character in The Horse and His Boy and future wife of Shasta, Aravis literally nearly killed herself to escape an arranged marriage. She was not someone to be dictated to; she made her own choices and escaped rather than submitting. And in the end, she’s still fiery, just a little more humble and with less of a chip on her shoulder. Then there’s Polly, who is the more logical person in The Magician’s Nephew and tries to stop Digory from ringing the bell that wakes the White Witch. A boy causes her to awaken, not a girl. It was Digory’s fault she woke up, not Polly’s!!
Also, Peter and Edmund do not ignore their sisters because they’re girls. They listen to what they have to say and speak to them as equals. They don’t forbid them from fighting; Susan chooses not to, but Lucy goes straight into the heart of the battle with them! So don’t even say Lewis made his female characters weak. They were the backbone of much of the series and without them much of the plot would never have happened!!
So don’t you ever say to me that CS Lewis was misogynistic because it’s the furthest thing from the truth

If I had $1.25M to spend on a house, pulled up to this one, and saw the big red gummy bear, I'd know it was mine. The 1990 home in Big Bear Lake, California is whimsical inside and out. 3bds, 3ba.
Tumblr media
The home looks like a modern Tudor from outside. Look at the mushroom and the little figure under the tree. I can't make out what it is, though. I don't think it's a gnome.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No need to get upset about the taxidermied heads, b/c they're Dr. Seuss characters.
Tumblr media
Family room/kitchen combo open concept space.
Tumblr media
These two platforms in front of the window are kind of odd.
Tumblr media
There's a sunny dining area.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gray kitchen cabinets and a smart fridge. Very high end appliances.
Tumblr media
Double purple doors open to reveal a pantry entrance on both sides.
Tumblr media
I don't like that the microwave is in there, though.
Tumblr media
Glass block shower with modern glass blocks.
Tumblr media
Plus a sizeable sauna.
Tumblr media
Up the colorful stairs that look like book spines.
Tumblr media
Spiral stairs lead to a low lounging loft above the main living area.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The primary bedroom is very large, colorful, has a cute little fireplace, and doors to a terrace.
Tumblr media
Wow, cool en-suite.
Tumblr media
Walk-in closet.
Tumblr media
And, even the laundry space is whimsical.
Tumblr media
Interesting loft space.
Tumblr media
Cute secondary bedroom.
Tumblr media
I don't know why, but they did this to all the closets in all the bedrooms.
Tumblr media
Rec room in the basement has corrugated metal wainscoting. Not particularly loving that. It's too rustic for me.
Tumblr media
I imagine that this extensive collection would go w/the owners.
Tumblr media
Small bar in the wall.
Tumblr media
Deck overlooking the pool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's the option of covering the pool or leaving it open.
Tumblr media
Near a resort and forest on .66 acre of land.

The Wall of Heroes in Maru's workspace; the little details that lives rent free in my head. I'll just paraphrase what I and another troper wrote on Maru's Shout-Out entry on TvTropes;
Tumblr media
Keep in mind this is taken straight from The Art of Planes, so pretty much a concept art, and have slight difference from the ones in the final cut of the film.
There's a total of five aircraft on the Wall including Nick Lopez, and each aircraft got another picture and one or two newspaper clippings pinned along their framed photo. Very much grouped like this;
Tumblr media
The top left picture on the Wall (boxed in red) is a Grumman S-2 Tracker of the California Department of Forestry & Fire Protection (abbrev. CDF, now CalFire) with "87" marked on the tailfin. Pic above shows it to be "82", but in the film proper it is "87", and slightly zoomed in. Tanker-87 was lost in a midair collision with another CDF S-2, Tanker-92, over a fire near Ukiah, California, in 2001.
The bottom left corner of the Wall (boxed in green) is a picture of a Bell 212 helicopter. On 21 May 2011, while fighting a wildfire, a Bell 212 helicopter went down just offshore in Lesser Slave Lake, Alberta.
In the film proper, the picture at the center of the Wall is a C-130, with "82" marked on the tailfin (yes they just shuffled that number around), in a livery similar to Aero Union air tankers livery. C-130A N130HP, call sign Tanker-130, also painted in red and white (albeit with a different livery), was lost with all crew on board after experiencing a catastrophic breakup in the air while fighting the Cannon Fire on 17 June 2002.
The picture at the center of the Wall above (boxed in yellow), is a Martin JRM Mars with Forest Industries Flying Tankers (FIFT) livery. The JRM tanker Marianas Mars was lost while operating under FIFT when it went down while fighting fires in British Colombia on 23 June 1961.
The picture on the top right corner of the Wall (boxed in blue) is a Sikorsky S-61 helicopter, painted with Carson helicopters livery. On 5 August 2008, S-61N N612AZ crashed on takeoff while assigned to the Iron Complex fire in California's Shasta-Trinity National Forest.
Bottom right is Nick Lopez. The only thing notable in the picture is he died at 36. Also, look at Blade's dumb face lmao
Tumblr media
Headcanon; every time Blade crashes, Maru pinned even dumber picture of him on the Wall.
Anyways, a closer look at the bottom-center map gave us Piston Peak location and,
pardon my nonexistent map-reading, I live on the other side of the globe,
Tumblr media
Piston Peak National Park seems to be somewhere in Oregon... or is it upper California/Nevada?? Wait hold on,
Tumblr media
Map is roughly overlaid but I guess, definitively, Piston Peak is somewhere in Oregon.

Den 88
4, 3, 2, 1. A Je to.
A není to ledajaký kopec.
Tumblr media
Takže my jdeme po západní straně sami.
Tumblr media
Ráno je pořádná zima. Všechno ještě zhoršuje silný a štiplavý vítr.
Tumblr media
No je to vtipná podívaná.
Je to náročné i mentálně, člověk musí pořád dávat pozor kam šlape, a jestli ho ten krok udrží. Navíc už nám začíná pod nohama tát sníh. No prostě nic moc. Dolů nám to vlastně nakonec zabralo víc času než nahoru.
Tumblr media
Protože je tady v téhle chráněné oblasti moc návštěvníků, dotáhli vyprazdňování ještě dál. Už nestačí jen vykopat díru, člověk to musí dělat do papírového pytlíku a pak si to s tebou odnést zpátky dolů k silnici.
Stopneme auto do města a jdem si koupit oslavné pivo do obchodu.

Our story begins with a life-changing experience where Robin Standlee, the founder of C-Level Consultants, embarked on a journey to Mt. Shasta first with a group of adventurers before a three-night fast and solo quest. Alone on the mountainside, she confronted her limiting thoughts, healed old emotional wounds, and experienced fully, the power of nature to refocus and direct life's path.
